White Album 01: I smell a shitstorm…

Okay Boys looks like we have to raid the Super Special bus…

So while there seems to be a rather tepid and hostile reaction to White Album I was utterly delighted to see that for the short term we have the greatest wretched hive of scum and villainy dumb and emo all in one show. Sure it already looks dated with the pay phones and a strong US Dollar, but nevertheless while these characters are boring and look rather samey, they do have one thing going for them, emotional “problems.” Yes this alone will attract Tanukis that remember Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and fans of Takayuki. Maybe it will surprise me but for now I have decided to study these subjects with a ghillie suit armed with liberal amounts of sneering contempt. Also Pardon the Suchong Accent.

Observation Log 001 Corpsman Crusader, Subject: Toya Fuji

Too dumb to phone home…

Young man is loser always late for work, he woke up at noon and did not have enough balls to tell his supervisor in person about how he over slept. Subject got fired, to think that a bunch of people were turned down for the job only for him to bitch about girlfriend is galling. Stupid boy no understand real suffering complains more than professional activist about CIA conspiracy. He saw his girlfriend some up coming fetish fuel that is rather boring, he not have feelings enough to kiss her or anything, he calls her his “everyday.” Must be reference to how often he faps to her picture. Keeps his so called best friend sexually frustrated by being third wheel, with friends like Fuji who need enemy? Also have fear of girl on TV, talks a lot of shit about people he don’t know let alone meet. Subject hates his father but called home to beg for money, while he failed to show up on anniversary of his mother’s death. Subject seems like a douche.

Observation Log 002 Corpsman Crusader, Subject: Haruka Kawashima

She charges for bike ride.

Girl on bike suicidal, part of me wish she slid out and hit dumb boy and break her neck. Worse thing about love triangle as that almost every other girl want to make it a harem. Her cousin Ami is so much cuter, regardless subject is hard on for dead “nii-san” but now she try to get into pants of best friend’s lover. Look like Tanuki can suck on egg he no get sis-con. Such a waste throwing her talent away mourning like she’s the only one who had to bury a relation. Usually sports girl have brain or at least strong this one weak like straw. Possible necrophiliac.

Observation Log 003 Corpsman Crusader, Subject: Yuki Morikawa

As soon as she cries it will look authentic.

Fetish fuel is obviously an invertebrate given lack of spine, it also have trouble with basic motor function and can barely do her job right. Supposedly she’s up and coming, though I can easily imagine her suffering fate of Ranka, manager is however quite useless. So subject is safe for now from remixes and Breras. It buy cans of juice for its natural predators, the red hyenas, but lacked brain cells to put velocity with the mass she brought back as defensive measure. I estimate that severe and crippling damage could have been done given frail frame of predator species and size of cans. Recently dressed like high school drama club, will add in small razor to see if there will be reaction, should have cut away middle from generic white dress of bad design to expose midriff; wasted opportunity. Possible Hippie.

Observation Log 004 Corpsman Crusader, Subject: Rina Ogata

Interesting subject this one, limited observation time probably meant less chance for Ogata to fuck up. Seems to be alpha female and top predator of food chain, ate red hyenas for breakfast, subject seems universally feared. Current hypothesis is pheromones so strong that they can pass through native TV. Manager seems old and fat, perhaps it is her pet or farm animal? Subject seems to tolerate Yuki like lion playing with food, subject promoting dead end relationship for Yuki with stalker. Hopefully subject is not predatory and will show signs of yuri-lust. Voice and haircut seem more interesting.

When i heard it would be a love triangle I imagined anything but a harem, more precisely, a structure like the one True Tears had. Sadly, I suppose this isn’t true. I can only say two more things: 1) I have never seen such crappy idol outfits. 2) Haruka Kawashima looks like a boy.

Hopefully subject is not predatory and will show signs of yuri-lust.

Now that’d make this show worth watching for sure! :p

Crusader rocking the shoujo. Nice. A good change-up from you discussing whether Clausewitz or Jomini was smarter.

Fuji should go for all three. It’ll be like a modified Schlieffen Plan, except with girls. Strike Witches probably covered this already, though.

Shoujo is generally not my thing, and most of the comments on this show I’ve read seem to indicate that it isn’t bad enough to be good. Have fun with it.

Off topic, where are those SWAT guys from? The technique they’re using looks, uh, unique.

    *shakes head*

There’s only been a “hostile and tepid” reaction to the on the kiddy blogs whose authors have a tendency for dissing and bashing to begin with. It’s certainly no show for everybody, and it’s a good target for oblivious viewing, so that’s to be expected. Besides, the target audience is older than the average.

On those blogs who have a higher affinity to romance anime and anime boards in general, people are fairly pleased about the show. And unless the show nosedives, I see good chances for this show to become very successful and prominent.

I agree with Crusader, I dont get what the three girls see on the loser of Fuji. Also I am not impresed with the buliying scene and the ”last minute fix”. The music dont really get along well with the scenes. The only thing I want to see again is Haruka and discover the relation between ”Master” Frankie and Ogata Eiji.

It seems structured like a harem though it may well be Haruka that gets the shaft though since they make such a big deal of her problems for a 13 ep series it seems they will either dwell upon it or resolve it fast with varying degrees of success.

    Yuri-lust makes everything better.

Clausewitz was smarter, who now believes in in Jomini and won? :p

They are rather dumb to say the least.

Maybe it will be great, but its hard to see these people as adults when their problems seem like that of high school kids who haven’t been through a real shit storm. It used to be that a measure of a man was his deeds but now it seems the more you complain the more little things a character bitches about the more “deep” and complex he gets. Perhaps this will be a good romance, but does that mean that the people involved aren’t idiots? By what insane calculus can you calculate maturity? Loving things that no one else likes? Claim that just because you are older that you are some how superior and tempered in understanding? Should we even bother trotting out concepts like maturity on the internet where there is almost no real accountability?

You’ve been around the block but in what society can a boy like the male lead even be considered a man? Does his stupidity make him cute? He seems to hate is father and yet has the gall to beg for money, while at the same time taking his work seriously to the point he over slept for almost a day, should we pity his poverty that seems to be self inflicted? Perhaps the guy can love, but so far he has only demonstrated the capacity to complain, oversleep, and misquote, I have little hope for this one, indecision will probably make him less endearing, not more so.

I think Rina might prove interesting, but I have little hope for Yuki other than the poor bullied girl who lacks the confidence to stand up to her tormentors directly. Haruka is so wrapped up in her own grief she may well be dead, she’s certainly not living. We’ve all lost family that we loved, but considering that she even has a chance to go to college I can’t say I find much sympathy for her. Given the overall lack of courage for most these characters it might easily degenerate into a sob fest to illicit viewer sympathy.

Perhaps you were blessed with better eroge adaptations, I was not nearly as fortunate. I gave it a shot, the male lead seems a bit generic, Yuki is simply meh to me, Haruka can wave her tragedy all she wants but I ain’t going shed a tear or give two shits, at least Rina seems mildly interesting if only because there is so little we know about her. I never said the show was going to sink in the post, I just felt contempt for some of them. right now it seems clear these people have emotional problems, but there was little in the way to redeem them from my point of view.

Counting down to the irresponsible sleeping around… ;)

Women seem to like marrying beneath them…it’s insane. The bullies were not that distinguishable from other bitches we have seen before, such a pity Yuki did not realize she was carrying some formidable projectiles in the form of juice cans.

I’m gonna stay away from that one, mainly because the whole useless/crybaby personality type get’s on my nerves and in this case, there’s no action to offset it.

unfortunately, girls like this kind of men. they’re easy to manipulate and understand

  18. Posted January 7, 2009 at 12:47 pm | Permalink

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, still maybe you could masquerade as her brother, maybe then she’ll get a clue and stop crying over it.

This isn’t shoujo, Skip Beat! is shoujo, this this is an eroge adaptation the only ones who will find it romantic would be people who play these sorts of game for 100% completion and every H scene they can get, romance doesn’t motivate these people, lust does.

So far your favorite seems the least broken of the bunch, that’s saying something considering Yuki has the personality of a brick. I don’t like complainers and angsters.

Maybe the impending clusterfuck will remedy the absolute suck the main lead is emanating.

Yuki is playing with fire, if it ends up with her dead in a ditch from the knife of her stalker lover i won’t be surprised.
