The deathly bells of a single blogger and a commentator

By the decreed of the evil Thirteensugars, I have made a random post. So, if you are new to the blog and have no clue who Thirteensugars is, or who the heck Impz is in the first place, it’s all right. You are more than welcome to ignore this post and just enjoy your anime reading in THAT Anime Blog. For the others who enjoy a little silly story, or perhaps those who actually talked to me before, just read on. There’s something quite big happening in my life that has a strong relationship to this blog. Thirteensugars, for some reason, think that you should know.

More than three years ago, a certain stalker of a blog was enjoying her reading of Saiunkoku Monogatari. She presumed that this blogger was a girl, since “she” writes in a rather feminine way, and that it would seem pretty weird that the blogger would be a guy. She was wrong, this blogger was a guy and was a keen lover of shoujo series. Led by their common interests, they made very lengthy blog comments with each other on the discussion of this anime and many other anime such as Ghost Hunt or Bokura ga Ita.

Both of them cannot really remember who initiated the communication between the two off the blog. The conversation moved on toward IM, then to skype, then to webcam chat. Out of the blue, the blogger proposed to have a relationship with the lady. This was no simple decision to make, by the way. The blogger was all the way in Singapore, while this lady was living in the United States. This will be a long distance relationship across 14,000 miles, two continents and a 16 hour timezone difference. Still, the girl agreed. They probably regretted quite often of this decision. They were disillusioned by the distance at times because they are so far apart. People doubted whether this relationship was real in the first place.

Fast forward three years, this was the guy’s fourth visit to the United States. It was a really uneventful second day on his vacation to the United States. The couple was still together amazingly enough, and they were about to watch Alice in Wonderland. Out of a sudden, the girl wanted to take a photograph in front of the cinema. The blogger was fine with the suggestion and told her to grab it from his sling bag. As she searched in the sling bag, she found a ring.

Her: What is this?
Him: You should know what this is.
Her: Hmm, is this a proposal?
Him: I guess so.
Her: Aren’t you supposed to go down on your knees
Him: *Goes down on his knees* Will you marry me?
Her: Yes.

Some say that a story usually ends with a happily ever after, even with the most unromantic proposal ever in front of a movie theater. This blogger does not think so. A marriage is not the end or some may say, the deathly bells of a social life. This is simply the start of a relationship in which you share your life, your anger, your frustrations, your disappointments and your happiness with a significant person in your life forever. So, thank you, THAT Anime Blog, for finding my wife amidst all the uncertainties of online relationships, and that she will be finally flying over to me in the near future.

Thank you, THAT Anime Blog, for making this possible for me.

Congrats for tying the knot. Unfortunately, my brother, going to be 22 this August, has yet to find his first girlfriend. So, the wedding’s over?

I don’t know you guys, but this is a very sweet story! just to prove that if one really loves another, they will try to pass the adversities against you both (in your case it was the distance).

Congratulations on your marriage and wish you all the happiness in the world!

    Congratulations, you two wacky kids!

My first time here. For me, I hope you together will find that beyond the border of being an individual: when two people find themselves after a brief encounter can become two whole individuals that have a common passion and life.

I could only hope for myself on what you have found.

Congratulations! To be honest I owe THAT a lot to. It didn’t find me a wife but it did introduce me to some great anime:P
Anyways congratulations, your marriage is very fluffy shojo like and hopefully like most fluffy shojo like mangas it will be one of those “and they lived happily ever after”. May you both find happiness:P

It’s not really fluffy shoujo because I hid all the ugly and emo parts of the relationship out (generally created by her, and indirectly caused by me. I am INNOCENT!). Anyway, will I actually advice anyone to find someone this way online? No. It’s too painful at times, and it really took a lot out of us to be together. I am glad but I do not wish for anyone to feel the pains of someone dear from you so far away.

Only difference is that I am nowhere an anime otaku by any measure and that my wifey is more of an anime fan than I am. (Ironic how I even have an anime blog, huh?)

Seriously, reading Densha Otoko left me with a warm fuzzy feeling when the guy got the girl, and reading up to this point I gotta say I feel exactly the same way for you guys :)

    Wow congrats ^_^

I met my husband online as well… and it was on an online MMORPG.
Anyways, I never believed in online long distance relationships until I tried it out (unplanned) and it went very well. Married to him now.
Been 4 years and still going.

The best of luck to both of you!

Such an adorable romance, one that sounds like something that could only happen in chick flicks. ^ ^
I’m a sucker for this. This is just too cute and lovely.

    Here’s to happily ever after.
    Cheers. ^ ^

My God I only just read this – so THAT’S how the historic shoujo-esque union came about!

Clearly romance still lives in the real world! Thank God, and THAT!

I second (or third or fourth etc) the dawwwwwwwwwwwwww! :D
