Kaichou wa Maid-sama Episode 11 – Usui with glasses please.

null

I actually watch Kaichou wa Maid-sama Episode 11 three days ago, but I was swarmed by the coming of World Cup and a sudden interest in Football manager 2010. As such, my life has been turned upside down by this insane event. Finally, I got myself out of this crazy addiction, and write about my feelings on Kaichou wa Maid-sama Episode 11.

Oh, if you didn’t already know, Usui’s flowery scene in Maid cafe? Priceless. Here you go, you got spoiled.

Episode summary

Usui met up with Misaki’s mother as he passed by and found her to be easily trusting of others, even surprisingly the unflappable Usui. After visiting her family, Usui realizes the condition of Misaki’s house, and even fixed up the floor for her. As expected, Misaki was shocked to see Usui, and chased him out without any reason (she’s tsundere for Usui). Usui commented how cute Misaki must be when she was young, and was glad to know more of her secrets. They were also spotted by Sakura. The next day, Misaki’s friends, particularly Sakura, wanted to know Usui’s background because he is so mysterious. Sakura imagined that Usui is probably some rich kid living a very good secret life. They then proposed to follow him.

Later on, Misaki is working in the Maid cafe and she picked up a call from her friends, notifying her that Usui is in the maid cafe. As she did not tell her friends about working in the cafe, she panicked. Her manager took it as a sign of stress. Through some silly bantering, they decided to follow Usui through a series of weird rich places (private swimming club, formal wear, restaurant). After following to really random places, they gave up and left for their separate ways in a park. Usui was playing with a stray cat, who scratched his face. It turned out that Usui obviously knew they were following him (duh!), and offered to give his address to Misaki if she wished for it. She said she did not need it. The last scene showed a cold, dark room with the cat that Usui picked up.

The first part of the show involving Misaki’s family is awesome. I mean, Misaki’s mother and sister are just so comedic with the straight acting of Misaki accompanying their ridiculous behavior. In addition, anyone that can make Usui go @_@ must be awesome since I do not remember a single time where he is quizzical, puzzled or even surprised ostentatiously. It is actually quite interesting to see how Usui is clearly weak against the defenseless and trusting type of person. It is almost like Misaki’s mother is filled with so much goodness that Usui’s evil side (too much Kare Kano, sorry!) is being forced out from somewhere.

Ok, I admit, there isn’t any evil side apparently, but it just feels quite weird with the opening scene. Seriously, I am used to seeing Usui follow his own pace but it feels like he is being derailed by the easy going character of Misaki’s mother. I do hope for more Misaki’s mother interactions with Usui. It will be so fun.

It is also quite nice (not enough to elicit a kyaa from me though!) for the scene in the day park. I actually thought that the comment on the rabbit-shaped apple slices is a very nice touch. I am not sure if the seiyuu deliberately aims to evoke the emotion, but it feels as though Usui is truly admiring his life. This is perhaps a hint toward Usui’s family life being much darker than expected for a fluffy romantic shoujo show. Will the anime move toward more of a drama slant later on? I am not too sure about that, but I think it might alienate quite a few fans if it gets too dark and serious, plus I doubt that they can really take themselves too seriously for too long.

Oh, the part where he goes “I just want to know more and more secrets of Ayazawa, and only I can know it” just reeks of Usui-ism too much that I didn’t feel too much for it. It is always a cue for him to go about this kind of bishified message. It gets a bit too predictable at times, and perhaps that is why I didn’t care too much of it.

On comparison, I felt that the whole following of Usui is quite boring to be honest. There is one scene that I like though. I mean, the whole Usui family appearance is just so weird. I really wonder what kind of mind Misaki has, and the whole Usui-faced mother is hilarious to be honest. Other than that, it is just a bit too boring for me. I am not sure why, but I don’t know where it doesn’t draw me in at all. Do you find the second part of the show interesting by any chance? I think they are trying to bring some comedy from straight-faced Shizuka, but it didn’t work for me at least.

Oh, last thing. Usui with specs? YES, PLEASE!!

It hinthints at precisely against how Usui is the opposite of such a “defenseless and trusting” person, imo. I actually suspect quite a bit of the Karekano Arime-ness in this. Especially since Usui has the “I want to know everything about you, but I don’t want to tell you anything about me” mentality.

Eventual drama want, but that’s imo.

I’m glad Misa-chan’s family is getting more coverage than the mango though :3

I’m enjoying the greater coverage of Misaki’s family in the anime too. Was surprised when they intro’d her mum and sis so soon, but it works well in showing Misaki as a more rounded character, plus those women are just too funny :)

Aye, actually, I don’t remember much of what I read in the manga already. I only remember fuzzy feelings of kyaa kyaa whenever Usui and Misaki has a love-love moment, but other than that, not that much. However, I think one of the key reasons why I went on reading for the manga is the similarities I felt with Usui and Arima. Both are equally mysterious. Both hinted a dark side. I just like shoujo guys with that kind of personality, I guess.

I actually do not want to see her family too much. I can see it getting tiring after a while.

I agree with the second half being rather boring. Wasn’t interesting until Usui started doing all those random things after the restaurant.

Ya, even that part was fleeting to be honest. It is too fast to really make you laugh, even though the dry a ha ha~ was a decent (if not blatantly obvious) attempt to make you go either laughing a little, or go huh. I cant really remember what was the expression I had when I watched it.

I know for me it was a slight smirk.

‘and chased him out without any reason (she’s tsundere for Usui)’ – lol, kinda sums up their entire relationship so far.

I agree that the tailing scene went on far too long, and that Misaki’s random visions of Usui’s family were both hilarious and appropriately symbolized how little she/ anyone knows about him.

Not on a par with the romantic-comedy gold that was last epi, but the highlights of this one for me included: Shizuna suggesting that they break more floorboards so that Usui can fix em up better; Sakura and Shizuko’s fangirling and perverted suspicions at seeing Usui leave Misaki’s; the two baby lookalikes of the Ayazawa sisters in the park (dawww); the 3 idiots’ trying and failing to look cool for the absent Misaki; and…how awesome was Shizuko this epi?! Talk about cool under pressure – LOVE what they’re doing with her character :)

and yes Usui with specs = good times. They should remake the ED with him wearing them :D

Heh what a great idea :D. That would give him +5 in the intellect area.
When they add a vampire or some thorns, I would convert this ED to my new screen saver.

That, MEL, is just weird. Why do you want even want Usui with glasses with a vampir…WAIT, that’s an absolutely genius idea! It”s like having a romantic comedy without the pantsu fanservice, yet have your gothic mix in it. Hmmm, this is more interesting than I thought.

The breaking of floorboards is just awesome in my humble opinion. I am surprised they didn’t do that immediately, though where did they find all this spare wood since they are so poor and never bothered to fix it in the first place. I see Misaki as a handywoman, so I am surprised it is never truly fixed.

You see .. pants are just not hot for fangirls.
They are trying to make Usui into this mysterious, good – looking, over intelligent, super sportive guy when you just focus on the first 10 pictures of the ED. So where are the fangs, the sword and a half dying princess? What a plot twist would that be … .

And screen savers need to entertain since they start when you are not working or talking too much in a presentation. Why not have one with a good laugh at the end :D when his fangs pop out.
That would beat my ascii – shark, letting fishes explode in my ascii aquarium.

Hm yeah, my taste may be a bit off :D .

I just saw a glimpse of a fangirl’s brain. I suddenly am not sure if I know I am blogging the right series :P Honestly, I was thinking that Usui will fit well into a Korean mythological series where he is the main hero escaping his life from nobles who wants to kill him as he has royal blood. On his journey to nowhere, he saves a wayward Robin Hood bandit who is actually a princess in the kingdom he was originally from. Oh my, the story sounds juicy ^_^

Definitively hardcore. I would watch it :D.
But well … eh ok, that would be a spoiler :). But your idea would introduce some martial arts action :D – I am always in for that.

            Shoujo – martial arts? ^_^

i was waiting for this post Impz! GEEEEEEEEEEZ World Cup? Come on. haha jk. I’m caught up in the NBA Finals myself.^^

finally get to see a very tiny glimpse of Usui’s place and wearing glasses *A*
I’m too naive. I really thought we’d get to see what Usui does, but when he pointed out that their outfits were too obvious he was totally right. orz

Usui at the house haha just tear down the whole place so he can build a new one.
totally agree Misaki’s idea of Usui’s family was hilarious. too cute.

the fact that animals don’t like Usui lol
the kitten reminded me of Misaki for some reason.

Hej come on. You are missing a unique hardcore vuvzela experience, if you ignore the world cup.
But anyway, you don’t need to care :D since we will knock out the US in the quarters, if the German and US teams meet. And our television does a full live streaming :D so I can just let it run on another desktop :). I love this year’s world cup!

I don’t think, we will get to see a real Usui – day since they focus quite well on the manga. They rewrote some parts in the last episode mainly to make it more interesting – which I don’t mind because her family is awesome. But we got to see a puzzled Usui forced out by the kitten.
We take every bit we can get ^^ .. .

Argh that reminds me – BAD KITTY!! How could anyone do that to Usui’s beautiful bishie face?! BAD BAD BAD!!! Almost as pathetic as Maru-chan’s reaction to the adorably awesome Sawako, grrr…

USA~~~~~ i need to listen to Shakira’s Waka Waka to see if I can get it out my head asap.

hahaha but u can’t hate on a little kitten Hana!!! the scratches on his face made him even more charming i think XDD

Actually, the whole notion of animals hating people who are inherently bad is a very interesting thing, simply because cats are always said to have senses that are very different from the normal animal. Cats are also mythological creatures of seers and all. And yes, Misaki and the kitty are so alike, except that Misaki doesn’t even scratch Usui. She simply purrs in tsundere fashion :P

Btw, the vuvzela? I definitely want to try blowing one at my wife when she annoys me :P

Is Usui really rich though? It was hard to tell from the ending scene, but I would assume so because of his earlier activities such as buying the suit.
