Ao no Exorcist 13: Boys, my eyes are up here.

Cameraman, stop focusing on my boobs so much. I’m a rounded and interesting character, if you haven’t realize that sooner.

After Shura Kirigakure was introduced last week to save Rin from going out of control in a fight against Amaimon, this week the episode focus on Rin’s unhappy childhood, Shura’s relationship with the late Father Fujimoto and her decision to let Rin live and to help him control his powers.

Lots of Shura goodness after the jump.

Can’t breathe…too tight…Shima’s becoming jealous…Shiemi’s getting mad…

Summary: Shura kicks the shit out of Rin as she blames Shiro for forcing her to babysit Rin when he’s gone and blaming him for raising Satan’s son. Like many other shounen heroes out there, Rin vows to become stronger and obtain the Paladin rank so that he will not hurt anyone close to him again and be a mindless monster of his kindergarten days. They make up; and immediately Shura claims to be an eighteen year old cutesy pie and takes over Professor Neuhaus’s classes onwards. Mephisto is displeased with Amaimon’s destructive behaviour, especially when a gold statue (featuring Mephisto) in his beloved Mepphy Land is missing a head.

It’s time for the Shounen Vow. “I will defeat *insert Big Bad’s name here* and restore peace to the world.”

Receiving orders from the Vatican Headquarters, Shura has to ‘interrogate’ Rin within the cell of the Japanese branch of the Order of the True Cross hidden underneath of the school. Having been raised by Father Fujimoto before Rin and Yukio were born, she was asked by the Father himself one day to coach Rin on using his sword should an untimely death hits him. Thinking that Father Fujimoto was saying this for being a coward and raising Rin as a weapon for the Order, Shura has plans to obey the orders of the Order by finishing Rin off. After seeing Rin’s determination and confidence to make Father Fujimoto proud and destroy Satan, she had other plans in mind and that relieved her thoughts that Father Fujimoto is a caring man who is raising Rin as his own. Thus, holding off her report to the Vatican of Rin’s progress.

Amaimon, no more spending twelve million yen on useless gadgets. Forget about the First Class seats too.

So, Shura has decided to train Rin in swordsmanship, but under one condition. Until Rin is good enough in swordsmanship and control his powers, the Kurikara stays in Shura’s possession. We get a continuation of Rin’s younger days after he violently injured one of his classmates, who was being mocked and was called a demon by his classmates with his hands and face covered with blood. The teachers pleaded Father Fujimoto to put a stop of his destructive behaviour. His attempts were successful to tell Rin that he’s not born evil and do evil in future, but at a price with his ribs and glasses broken as a result.

Shura reveals her true identity to the class (without Rin) the next day (and acting sickening sweet at the same time), telling the class that she will be taking over Professor Neuhaus’s classes as he goes off for maternity leave (on second thought lets put it as he’s going AWOL and joining Mephisto’s, not the Order’s side of things) and the moment Rin arrives in class, she begin the lesson.

Back in Mepphy Land Mephisto demands compensation from Amaimon for dismembering the head of his golden statue and the mess he has created in his battle with Rin in the last episode.

Look cool in front of these teachers. I can handle that nasty demon of mine…don’t beat Rin up…

Yukio: No, she’s lying. She’s twenty-six— *has his glasses and head crack apart by one of Shura’s sword attack.*

Cuteness Proximity increases by 150%. Please don’t go, *sniff sniff* Father Fujimoto. I promise that I’ll be a good boy when I grow up.

Thoughts: I almost fell asleep for the first half when Shura puts Rin into a high-security cell, kick and slice the shit out of Rin, seeing a glimpse of a crazy little Shura and Rin telling Shura to shut up as he defends Shiro’s intentions raising him up as if Rin was his biological son. It gets interesting the moment we get an overview of Rin’s kindergarten days as Father Fujimoto stepped in to save the day again. And we know that Shura has that hair color even when she was a kid.

I’m a bit disappointed with the art for this episode. Often appearing rough and the actions were a bit inconsistent, probably saving the budget for plot centered episodes with lots of action.

Since this is the first episode of AnE’s second half, we got a new OP and ED. Compared with the last ED by 2PM I quickly stand my preference with the new ED. However I still prefer the old OP; the new OP doesn’t have enough ‘oomp’ factor in it, if you catch my drift.

Let’s think about it for a moment. We know that Shiro likes women with big boobs. Shura fits the exact criteria. Shiro knew that Shura would develop big boobs when she grows up.

Great. Another reason why Father Fujimoto has Shura under his care. *see below*

Boring screencaps with lame captions:

I think you need to use your brain for this one. Kuro’s going to land on the dorms, with THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS STILL SLEEPING AT 4AM IN THE MORNING!

Mephisto: I hate it when people gives me disrespect. You know that the statue’s made of pure gold right?

Next week: Rin and Co. are assigned another mission during the summer vacation. I can already feel the hype of the next episode. Awesome battle ensues.

I haven’t read the newest chapters of the manga, and I haven’t been following the anime, but I dislike Shura, and I dislike her quite a bit.

She claims to always be looking out for Rin, but without saying much more(spoilers and what not), in my opinion, she is quite hypocritical.

She really puts the Shonen teacher/master archetype to shame.

Sorry for the semi-rant, I just don’t like her. :P

I’m just watching Ep 13 and I literally recoiled from my screen when I saw her. It was like the personification of a Mary Sue and I don’t want to watch any more if she’s in it.

For the life of me I just can’t bring myself to find Shura attractive, even though I should. Gravity is a cruel mistress…

I do not think I could possibly agree with this statement any more than I do now.. /facepalm

    “I’m a /rounded/ and interesting character.”
…pardon me, what were you saying?

I just realized, if Mephisto can twitch the top of his hair, he must have nerve cells controlling that place, right? So slicing it off would cause him much pain, right? >vatican immediately employs barber at true cross in case mephisto does something bad

Finally, re: emptying his head. Didn’t he already do that with his first encounter with Kuro?

The first picture is, in anime form, what we call a butterface. As far as the series goes, I hope it isn’t goofy all the way through.
