Yurikano finally makes her debut and given the physical similarities between her and Madoka on has to wonder if she really was like Madoka. Certainly Kirius and Digiburolio think so, but one has to wonder how what was it that Yurikano triggered, was she a Vox pilot at some point or did De Meterio have some special ovids of their own. It is great that we finally learn who Yurikano is and certainly her reputation hasn’t suffered as badly as Villagiulio’s since she is still seen as a hero in De Metrio. I like how we have to adjust the galactic picture with each passing episode as it seems now that La Garite is slowly winning the war even as Kiss tries to slow them down and win a few small victories. I wonder how long Lan has been away since it seems that Dizelmine is marching to the beat of his own drum while Lan seems largely ignorant of Moid’s real mission and is under the impression that De Metrio still has the upper hand.
The balance of power aside this episode featured mostly the De Metrio boys finding themselves at a crossroads. They are far from home yet haven’t completely thrown in their lot with Kiss. Yurikano may have been a hero but Dillapulio is not entirely trusted. Given how glowing Array is about his new life at Novumundus it does seem likelier now that the will eventually be working for Madoka once Dizelmine’s plans are revealed and/or if Kiss proves to be just as despicable. Izo may be itching for a fight but Kirius and Array have the right of it in that they do not have the means to challenge Madoka now that she is comfortable fighting with Midori. Where once there was one in terms of numbers they are evenly matched, not to mention that they do not have any hope for support from De Metrio. As for how much they can trust Kiss there is still the unsettled matter of who wrecked their ship, so far the only likely candidate is that manipulative bastard Kinetcagurio.
Izo had the drive initially to keep fighting but he, like Kirius and Array, seem to be channeling their inner Zentradi and got confused by the TV. Izo was taken as a pervert upon arriving at Kamogawa Girls’ School, and then he was labeled as Madoka’s boyfriend. While I do not put much stock in Izo wooing Madoka, he does have a measure of decency. Madoka wasn’t on screen much but it was good to learn about the origin of the Jersey Club and why Madoka is the way she is now. It was tragic that Madoka’s mother died in an attempt to save her and of her father’s fate we have no clue. Still many would be rescuers have died in rescue attempts because the human desire to help led many to ignore the danger. Madoka’s loss was brutal but at least she discovered Yoko who brought back color to her life. It makes me curious to see how Yoko behaved back in her youth and if Yoko is any indication then Madoka will grow up to be a fine person. Madoka seems to have many friends outside of the Jersey Club as there were four very interested parties about the possibility that Izo was Madoka’s fated one.
I’ll say this much about Izo though, he seems polite enough if very confused. Kirius seems to have started to take a peculiar liking to Kamogawa and Earth, though one has to wonder what he would do knowing that he had just run into Madoka. Array seems to be broken beyond repair and much of the comedy this week comes at his expense. Not only is he taking a new found fondness for his meido state, he is more than comfortable walking around in public wearing a dress despite having one of the fabled black cards to buy new clothes. Array seems to be fated to be a trap and while the town will talk it seems that at least one guy has no problem with Array being broken. Quite how Kirius was able to find money and how Kiss bought a house is anyone’s guess at this point. My guess is that somehow, some way Digigurio was able to con some money out of Hiroshi and must have other resources at his disposal, that or he’s been stealing like mad. Kiss does, after all, originate from a prison planet and surely there must have been a hacker or two, or at the very least a good thief among them.
Next week we get to see the fruits of the Jersey Club’s labors as the school festival will be in full swing. Midori is likely to pay a visit having missed Madoka so much, but I wonder if Kirius, Izo, and Array will also make a scouting mission of it. Asteria seems to be aware of De Metrio and while she doesn’t trust Kiss nor does she fully trust Moid I am sure that she will make arrangements. Dizelmine’s recent conquest won’t go unnoticed and given how Kirius, Izo, and Array are far from home, I am sure she will try and add three formerly undefeated ovid pilots to her forces. She already broke Array, perhaps she can break Izo and Kirius as well.
