Kiss finally shows us what they are all about never mind that Tulligulio was a prince it seems that exile has not made him a better person, and now more than ever it seems that Moid is right to call them criminals. It’s one thing to want to destroy the voxes and quite another to fire on a town some nautical miles away from the primary target. Either the gunners for the Kiss Fleet can’t shoot straight or Kiss is just willing to kill anyone who will not take their side against La Garite. I think is it mostly because of the latter, though the aim of the average Kiss pilot is underwhelming at best. Kiss may suck but it seems that the De Metrio boys finally decided that being Villagiulio’s lackeys was a lame way to live. Instead they seem to be on the short list for joining Novumundus in the hopes of getting access to the elite Jersey Club. It was most fortuitous that they decided to tell their former crown prince to kiss their collective asses and saved the town despite failing to obliterate that errant Ovid that hurt Yoko.
It was a most action packed episode and not terribly bad given how capital ships aren’t useless and despite Kiss being a bunch of bastards at least know how to use combat air patrols. Muginami acquitted herself remarkably well. I expected her to have some issues with fighting Digigurio, but thankfully she didn’t back down and did her best to fight him. Saving Lan again was also a nice plus, I am much relieved to see that the power of Madoka’s love has saved Muginami’s heart. Muginami might never be the one to kill Suliguilio, but when that time comes I am sure Madoka or Lan would be able to do it. Worst case scenario Array kills the former prince his meido powers. While I was worried that Novumundus was putting all their eggs in the Voxes, I am glad that they invested in upgraded weapons and shield for Pharos and their escort ships. Madoak is should do all she can to rack up the kill count against Villaguilio’s lackeys, but it is good to see that the scrubs sailing the destroyers are able to chip in a few complimentary kills in the defense of Earth.
Lan seems to be the odd one out being the sharp shooter of the trio, but I guess Lan will perform admirably by keeping bogies off of Madoka and Muginami’s back. Madoka and Muginami are sharing close combat duties and while Muginami is free to go after elegant kills Madoka seems intent to use her own brand of combat and is more than capable of tossing opposing ovids into opposing ovids while getting a good bounce to hit two formations with one toss. I appreciate the spirit that Machiko and Yoko inspired at Kamogawa Girls School, but next time they might consider taking cover. Yoko may be awesome but she is not invincible and her injury seems to have pushed Madoka over the edge. With any luck the only thing this rain of flowers will do is render the Kiss ovids inoperable, and we can avoid any unseemly ocean of tang scene.
With the series winding down I expect the Rinne team to give us ample reason to tune in next season so I eagerly anticipate the eventual humiliation of Villagiulio. Sure he still has a fleet but his ovid forces are sure to be all but wiped out after he dared to fire on Kamogawa and hurt Yoko. Kirisu, Izo, and Array did do the right thing at the end and hopefully they will find it easy to work with Lan despite their initial misgivings. Yurikano would have wanted it that way. Hopefully the De Metrio trio will be able to add in some kills of their own. I wonder what dark powers Villagiulio used to sucker in so much cannon fodder, but at any rate I hope they all get wiped out for being witless lackeys. Villaguilio may throw around some pretty words but I guess when it comes to opposing Dizelmine and negotiations Villagiulio will not settle for anything less than his way. Dizelmine on the other hand seems able to at least engender cooperation and for now seems more than willing to leave Earth well enough alone after taking the Voxes. I guess this is why Dizelmine looks to be the final boss while the prince that was is miserable mid-boss.
Asteria may be right to fear the power of the Voxes, but even when Madoka got MAD it wasn’t that she had a black heart. As for how a rain of flowers can destroy worlds it seems that it is less about fire and brimstone than it is about destroying certain technologies namely ovid technology. Time will tell but there is still ample mystery left for the second season which if all goes well is but a short wait.
