Aquarion will soldier on next season but sadly it will do so without Jin. Granted Jin did not have that much screen time but nevertheless his death was painfully tragic. I guess I should have known better that pineapple insert last week was no mere jest as Kawamori reminded us that pineapples are dangerous. It may be inert in cakey but on pizza the mere mention of it can kill. As anime deaths go Jin’s last charge was glorious and enabled a victory. Fudo might be powerful but sadly he is not all powerful and this victory is going to be a costly one once the final casualty count is in. I never would have imagined that Yunoha would be the one to shoulder such a burden, but while Mikage murdered Jin I hope that Yunoha will uphold the legacy of Sally. Jin did do me proud though, his dilemma was a forgone conclusion but in the end he made the right choice. I hope Izumo will understand at last that his alliance with Mikage has been a terrible mistake and conclude that Mikage is the one who has been actively sabotaging his efforts to save Altea.
Tragic as the short romance that Jin and Yunoha had it was still glorious to behold as well as very amusing. While they never shared a kiss at least they shared a brief union and for a time enjoyed happiness. If only Andy could have given Jin the blessing of Saint Patrick, alas Mikage is just that terrible an enemy of love. Psychic projection or not Mikage is simply that deadly, Donar found that to his cost all those years ago, and now Yunoha will share the same pain. Thankfully though, Jin was not dragged off to a fate worse than death. While I am not sure how he was able to, Jin was able to give Yunoha his last words. The last Son of Altair leaves behind many friends and Yunoha, but his sacrifice did help avert disaster when Kagura was about to toss Mikono through the dimension gate and into Mikage’s clutches. I do not have the words to describe how painful a death I wish Mikage to have. Jin made quite a journey from that cloistered rabid Sylvie fan that piloted Radius Gniss. It was a change for the better and if the mecha gods are good Jin’s sacrifice will be a factor in Mikage’s demise.
On a happier note while Donar is reliving a nightmare at least there is some hope for him to find love again after having his last love torn away to a terrible fate by that odious bird person. Slowly but surely it seems that Suomi and Donar on a collision course, hopefully tragedy doesn’t strike twice for Donar. I hope that the mecha gods are good and that Yunoha and Donar will have a good shot at Mikage if they cannot have the honor of delivering the coup de grace. Andy and Mix seem to be getting along exceptionally well with Andy maximizing his blessing of St. Patrick to save Mix and put Kagura into a hole to save Amata and Mikono. Quite why Mix and Andy are so embarrassed about embracing is beyond me, I would think that just about everyone knows that those two have been exceptionally friendly after working out their differences.
Kagura isn’t the nicest guy in the series and I suppose that the mere act of forming a coherent thought may well be beyond his capability, but he is, if nothing else devoted to his smelly girl. I did have a good laugh when Kagura started throwing Mikono into the air and spinning her around. “You stink deliciously” probably would have garnered a better response but I suppose that “I’ll crush you in my arms forever” carried the point. Amata might be able to fly but I think that Zessica vs. Kagura would probably be a most excellent fight given the offensive disposition of both their element powers. Zessica may be alone for now but I am glad that when the shooting starts she is more than willing to step in to save Mikono. Mikono’s resitance was futile but I both appreciate and deplore the effort. I appreciate that she isn’t content to be some weak kitten that needs to be saved, though her lack of combat ability is really dreadful. In all fairness I don’t think anyone can really take on Kagura in one on one element duel. I deplore Mikono’s resistance as it now seems that Mikono is not going to be distracted too much by Kagura.
Now that Jin Muso is dead and will be buried with full honors on Vega I wonder how Izumo is going to respond. Jin did back track but the situation was already out of hand once Mikage let Kagura loose. Izumo must know that Mikage is going to be a detriment now more than ever now that Mikage knows that Kagura is seeking Mikono. Still Izumo is playing against as stacked deck and Mikage seems to be holding all the cards now that Jin is gone and is with Roy Focker. Jin’s death eliminates any possibility of dialogue between Neo-Deeva and Altair, though I hope that Jin enough behind for his friends to piece together his mission and why it was so important. Fudo might know but it will be difficult given how Altair is Mikage’s in all but name now.
If the mecha gods are kind I hope that Jin’s spirit will be able to guide Yunoha during these trying times, it’s going to be a tough stretch for Yunoha, but if she survives she will be all the stronger for it. With any luck Andy, Mix, Amata, Zessica, and Mikono will be able to give her some comfort. If Sazanka has any sense she will be donating that money she won for guessing that Jin had a dark secret.
To Jin! He had a grateful fatherland and a glorious struggle. He gave his honor and blood for the Northern Cross. Focker bless his soul, St. Noe preserve his widow’s heart and True Tears, St. Patrick uphold his love, and may Zeus give those he left behind the strength to crush his murderer.
Fuck you Mikage, FUCK YOU. I have never hated a goofy looking Kawamori character as much as I hate you, a pox upon your schemes and may your death be slow and painfully presaged by the plucking of all of your feathers! It is not enough that you die, you must be made to endure the pain you have unjustly inflicted a two and ten thousand times over! Perfidious Enemy of Love, YOUR DAY WILL COME!
