Bokura ga ita 8

Note: I overkilled the episode summary + thoughts for the previous entry due to excitement. Sigh, this one will be way shorter to allow better readability.

Best. Scene. Ever. This rocks.

From this episode, we get more information about what had actually happened between Yamamoto and Yano in the past as well as seeing the development of Nana’s relationship with Yano currently. The peer pressure, boyfriend pressure as well as the pressure from herself to cave in was great, but was it her choice or someone’s force on her?

This is the thought that went through my mind. They are only 15, innocent still from the pain of real life. They are just teenagers who have not known about anything of the world, yet acting in such a way that is painfully realistic of modern life. I do not know, Bokura really shows the true situation out there in the world now, even though we do not like to admit it…

Episode summary

We left off from the previous episode, where Nana questioned the relationship of Yano and Yamamoto. As Yano kept quiet, Nana’s mother suddenly charged in once again, interrupting the questioning. Nana was annoyed that her mother did that but Yano made an excuse to go to the bathroom. He wanted to escape it for a while.

Yano came out of the bathroom and he asked what Nana thought happened. She said she did not know but it was clear that Yano was not answering her question about the relationship seriously. He was clearly avoiding and he said that he did not care about Yamamoto, even when Nana said that it seemed that Yamamoto loved him. Nana was clearly a little jealous over Yamamoto during the trip, when Yano did not hesistate to touch her forehead. He then assured her, telling her not to worry at all.

Waving bye bye, Nana felt assured. However, we know as Yano boarded the bus that he was clearly disturbed. He had lied to Nana about it as he said sorry. The next day, Nana told Takeuchi that there was clearly nothing happening between Yano and Yamamoto. He then replied that it was good and Nana said that if there was anything happening, Takeuchi would clearly know. Takeuchi was taken aback (he does know something) and digressed to say that Nana looked cute with her bangs.

Nana’s friends then asked Nana in the girl’s bathroom whether she had did it with Yano. However, she said she did not as she was not prepared as her friends said that Yano was being held back. Then, Mizu-chin simply assured her that it was Nana’s own choice to give it up or not. There was clearly a lot of pressure from both Yano and her friends to be compelled and cave in.

We are then moved to a scene of a class. Yano was asked a question in English and Yamamoto woke him up. He then stood up and was asked to translate a line “I want to make friends with her”. At first, he replaced it with “I want to make love with her”, then he went with “Fuck her”. Nana then turned pale, thinking that the only thing that Yano thought about was sex. As Mizu-chin and the other friend was walking along the corridor, they were discussing about Yano and Nana and they were talking aloud about the secret (where Yano had sex with ex-gf in school gym). Nana overheard it.

The scen changed as Yano came over to the room of Takeuchi to borrow a book. Yano was annoyed that both Takeuchi and Nana was questioning him about what happened between Yamamoto and him. Takeuchi said that he knew something had happened as he saw Yano and Yamamoto holding hands and going back to her house. Yano tried to lie, saying he was just going for incense but Takeuchi knew that Yano had did it (sex) with the younger sister too. Yano asked why Takeuchi pretended not know, but Takeuchi simply said that Yano never told him. Yano, being seriously disturbed, made an excuse to leave.

We then saw a flashback of Yano and Yamamoto inside her room. Her room was in fact the ex-girlfriend’s room but she had taken over as the ex-girlfriend had died and the room had been turned to an altar. Back to reality, Nana was going to Yano’s house to do some reports. Mizu-chin encouraged her to do it but she gave Mizu-chin a cold stare, telling her that Yano’s parents will be there.

As Nana and Yano boarded the bus, Yano realised that Nana was deliberately ignoring him and she seemed to be in a bad mood. He tried to invoke some interaction but failed, as they kept quiet after a few tries from Yano. They reached the house and Yano noticed a note on the table. Yano’s mother had in fact went to see a doctor and Nana said that he already knew and tricked her to revenge for the previous time she did it to him.

They kept their distance as Nana was worried he might do something. It was a very uncomfortable situation. As Yano asked her whether she wanted black tea, she felt that they were like a married couple since they were both alone. However, when she reaccounted the story of her parents dating for so long, Yano said that he was surprised it was so long and knew immediately that it was a mistake to say it.

Yano then promised her that he would not do anything to her, even touch her for the whole day, so he asked her to come over. Nana said that it was impossible for him to change principles but he said he would change it as much as possible for a girl. Nana then told him that she knew that Yano had sex with his ex-girlfriend in the school gym and he turned pale, as the other issue he was worried about came out. He did not avoid it and admitted to it.

Nana said that she did not mind and did not intend to blame him for the past. Yano then replied that he wanted to rewrite the past, just to prevent her from crying. However, he can’t but he would make the past pale in comparison to the present. Touching words. With that, Nana said that “it’s fine by me”, implying that she was ready to have sex. Yano did not understand and said that you meant sex and immediately said just joking. However, he could tell Nana was serious.

Yano was shocked as he dropped his pen and looked at Nana intensely. She was clearly not joking.

With that, we hear the monologue of Nana saying that “I felt that I was caught in the flow. I dont see any reason to hold it back.”

A good summary of the episode from that single line.

Thoughts now

Yano really is a jerk at times. He is so bloody insecure, demands that his girlfriend does all that to him, yet kept so many secrets . It was good to know that he had a very strong friend from Takeuchi and I got a feeling that Takeuchi, seeing how Nana is being mistreated so unfairly, will sooner or later make a move from Nana. That will be logically reasonable, as I do not see any other contestants thrown into the field of love just yet.

This will provide serious drama.

Anyway, this episode confirmed the fact that something did happen with Yamamoto and Yano and I was spot on to say that Yamamoto and Yano had sex, or it was at least implied that they did. Still, the fact that he hid it from Nana showed a lack of trust and a lack of faith of Nana. I am sure that Nana will be angry, but her love for him will be strong enough, since she was even ready to give up her virginity to Yano.

I am disturbed though, that they are all 15 years old, and so ready to give that sacred thing up. It is really disturbing that we have so much sex education but teenagers allowed this moment of overwhelming love to take over their minds. For some reason, i feel that Nana was more compelled by pressure than love to give herself to Yano. It is definitely not right for this to happen and yet, I felt that it is reflective of the society as a whole. Sex is no longer seen as anything so sacred by the majority of the society, even though in Singapore, we are considered to be more conserative in nature.

Just yesterday, I read about an article in the newspaper that there is a greater number of younger girls getting pregnant and STDs, as they had multiple sex partners and the likes already. I was slightly surprised but the fact that the trend was going. Hence, Bokura presented to us a very real situation in life. It did get me thinking of sorts.

Nana, as usual, was really way too nice as a girlfriend. Somehow, I feel that she is overly dependent on Yano, which is not the best person to be relied on for this time. However, I think Yano do need Nana now because she is the kind of girlfriend that he need to escape from that vicious cycle he landed himself in.

Anyway, next episode preview seemed to be them having sex. x_x
