Red Garden Episode 2

It’s 12 am. Are you going out again?

*Watch this episode first and you will understand what I am saying….

Seeing a clock tick peacefully at 12 am everyday is no longer the same after watching this series. The amount of emotional baggage and the immense fear thinking whether you will be dead…Or whether you are alive in the first place. That feeling of despair, a vicious cycle where you live because of your human fear but die in the heart. It is because you no longer have a real thing to look forward anymore.

That feeling is scary. I will never want to experience what the four girls in Red Garden will feel.

Ever.

This series just gets better and better in my humble opinion. There are still a lot of mysteries that are waiting to be opened by the curious viewers such as myself. Really good stuff here. At first, this is in the most probably case. This episode just clinches it because I was held to my seat in quite a sweat….

Wow.

Episode summary

It was the day after that night when the man beast attacked them. They had survived as we returned to the flashbacks of the event that ended episode 1.

We are cut into the scene where the four girls were hunted by the man beast. The beast suddenly pounced on Kate as it bit her on her shoulder before Claire spammed a pipe at the beast. Rose was literally freaked out by the beast, as well as Rachel. They were unable to stand or even to run at all due to the immense fear. They just wanted to stay in their hiding but Claire said that if they stayed, they were waiting to die. The mobile phones also had no signal whatsoever. Claire then crouched down as she noticed the sight of the man beast.

With that, the beast charged through the window, pinning down Rachel as he tore off the sleeves of Rachel. Claire tried to attack the man but was shoved aside. However, Kate tried to strangle the man by using the handbag that Rachel held, as both Claire and Rachel made their escape. The beast then shrugged off, as Kate and Rose hid inside the boot of a car. Claire then told Rachel to get up. However, Rachel was scared out of her wits, as the plan was to climb above the wall and through. Then they might get some help as there were more cars. Eventually, they did climb but the beast noticed as they charged forward.

Kate and Rose came out from the boot to warn them as the beast clamped on Rachel. Kate climbed out as she attempted to stab the beast from outside. However, they were all shoved off as Rachel was going to die from suffocation. Suddenly, she totally changed as she leaped off to the road as she slammed the man beast onto the ground (omg!). A truck then drove over conveniently as Claire shoved Rachel away before the truck came into contact and knocked down the beast.

Cut scene and we are back to the shocked Kate in school. Everyone seemed to be badly disturbed as they remembered about the things that had happened yesterday. It was clear that they never caught a single wink. Rose was late once again but she looked extremely down. Kate called her over as they talked, with Rose trying to avoid the topic completely. Claire also asked a passerby who was driving a heavy truck whether there was an accident but he said there was none. School ended as Kate felt the stress after some information yesterday while having lunch with her family.

The flashback continued.

They were addressed by the mysterious woman who said that they already died. They were also informed that they were given a new lease of life and they would be called upon before 12 am if there was something for them to kill. Every night would be the same nightmare…over…and over again. The ending had the gals singing that melancholic song as they looked intensely at their clocks ticking slowly to 12 am. Slowly, as the time passed, Kate started to cry from the pressure.

“I am still alive….” were her words.

Thoughts

Wow. As i have mentioned earlier, it feels that the girls are really normal people thrust into a world of hell. They also seemed to be injected with some form of magical ability, as the supposedly weak Rachel suddenly leaped after almost dying and threw the beast as though he was a rag doll. I wonder when they did to them after they died. I feel that there is probably some form of experiment dealing with them.

I am disturbed. Genuinely disturbed by the incidents happening in Red Garden. The emotions that were portrayed, the fear of death, the need for safety, the fear of taking risks, the clinging on of hope and life during the first half of the episode was so powerful that I was awed by this show. The feeling of fear is something that they capture well, as they show the difference of the girls.

Kate and Claire have strong survival instincts and do things according to instinct. Rose is clearly the weak minded girl who is fearful of the whole situation. The surprise part is that the grunch Rachel is another that is very weak. Claire seems possibly to be the strongest among the four but we must not forget. These four girls are not superheros. They do not have special powers. They do not even have weapons against a beast that can tear them apart. It is almost facing death right in front of you.

Scary stuff.

Next week seems to be a bit more explaining of what is actually happening. Nice stuff, I wish to watch more. =/ This might be yet another hit for the fall season if it continues on this great stuff.

Oh my gawd! You actually followed up with this series *Hands Impz a basketful of cookies* I really appreciate it cos there aren’t many people blogging Red Garden. (You’re the best!) Well, Red Garden doesn’t seem to be popular. It’s a shame when people are put off by such a good show just because of the character designs.

Man, this episode looks great and I can’t wait to watch it *Prays for fan-subbers to continue subbing it*. The voice-acting for this episode must be really good to for you to actually “feel” the fear.

trust me, you will be in total shock, kk, when you watch the first 12-13 minutes of the show. The ending is strangely haunting for me…to watch the clock slowly while waiting for death to appear.

I dont want that feeling thinking that there is a high chance my friends and I are going to die. It’s painful…

I really loved this episode as well.
It felt so true to life. I find the girl’s apprehension and anxiety concerning their new “lives” realistic and chilling.
I think I’m growing to love this series and it kind of sucks that it isn’t getting much love. My greatest fear is that the one group subing it in english will drop it. It just feels like there are a lot of great shows this new season not getting subbed in general :(
