Animehairology or in short A-Ho-logy, is the study of hair in anime gals. It is unclear to many anime viewers that color often dictate their viewing preferences. It is particularly the hair color, one that is so subtle in viewing, that most people will not notice it unless it is pointed out.
Hence, A-Ho-logy, is established. For this poll, the topic will be hair color. Let us observe a bit of the top gals in their respective colors in the recent 2006 anime series.

1. Red - The color of passion, energy and love. It is bestowed to anime girls who are willing to push themselves to the distance. They generally have extremely passionate characters, or have this certain strange charisma that charms people to them.
Examples: Yukari, Mariya from Otoboku, Kaho from Kiniro no Chord, Tsukasa from Tokimeki Memorial ~Only love~, Karada from Asatte no Houkou, Beauty Queen Etna from Disgaea and Vita from Nanoha A’s

2. Blond/Yellow - This is a very generic hair color in various series and it is strange considering that the most common color in Asian context is black. However, a wide range of beautiful girls reside in this area, making it a very decent color. Girls can be insane, calm or simply crazy. Yellow just radiates with brilliance.
Examples: Iroha from Sumomo momomo~, Ana Coppola from Ichigo Mashimaro, Mizuho from Otoboku, Makoto, Ayu from Kanon, Seras from Hellsing, Shione from Mamoru, Saber from FS/N, Becky from Pani Pani dash and Fate-chan from Nanoha!

3. Black – The most common color in real life among Asians. However, in the anime world, black hair is surprisingly low in profile due to the popularity of the other colors. They symbolize normalcy and the likes. There’s nothing really much to say about black because it’s black. Yawn. That is if you think that Haruhi will let you survive. Somehow, the color can be top notch rashness or simply soothing. Queer, no?
Examples:Haruhi from Ouran high, Haruhi from Haruhi Suzumiya, Shana from Shakugan no Shana, Sanae from Sumomo momomo~, Shion from Otoboku, Tachibana Rei from Pani Pani Dash, Izumi from FMA, Yakumo from School Rumble and Mikoto from Mai-hime.

4. Purple- This color is scaringly dangerous due to the characters in here. They can be mysterious, crazily cute and ….most of all, I have not seen a single bad purple haired anime gal. That shows you how good this color is.
Examples: Tessa from FMP, Eme-chan from Mamoru, Feena from Crescent love~, Jun from Happiness!, Mina from Tokimeki, Primula from Shuffle!, Yuki Nagato from Haruhi Suzumiya and Rika from Higurashi

5. Blue – A very prominent calm color, it is usually bestowed to anime gals who generally have this soothing effect when you watch them. You cannot understand why but there’s this certain strange sadness in them. There must also be a mysterious stroke in them, one that cannot be explained. Still, blue is rather common and often a big hit!
Examples: Ayako from Mamoru, Shouko from Asatte no Houkou, Nayuki from Kanon, Rei Ayanami from NGE, Karura from Utawarerumono, Himeko from Pani Pani dash, Natsuki from Mai-HiME

6. Pink – Pink is an extremely energetic color and often the color of lolis and the likes. You will usually associate awfully cute characters with pink since pink is a girly color. Honestly speaking, I know of no pink haired gals but Lupus said there are a lot. Supposedly.
Examples: Nadeshiko from Inukami, Shion from Mai-Hime, Riko from Gift, Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, Guu from Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu, Momoko from Sumomo momomo~, Sakura from Naruto, Komaki and Koyuki from Kujibiki Unbalance

7. Green – Finally, green color. This is Impzie’s favorite color and it is hardly surprising. Green is just about the most magnificent color ever in history and I have to admit that if green does not win this, Impz will cry. LIKE CRY, BECAUSE GREEN IS AWESOME, DAMMIT! Greenophiles for the win!
Examples: Tsuruya-san from Suzumiya Haruhi, Mion, Shion from Higurashi, Asa from Shuffle!, Alice from Aria, Midori from Midori no Hibi, Midori from Crescent love, Yoko from Inukami, C.C. from Code Geass, Rinali from D Grayman, Fouquet from Zero no Tsukaima.

Where’s WHITE? It’s the color that makes the girl seem like a ghost, fragile, mystical, albino, or a combination of the aforementioned.
It is hard to beat the calm mystery of Dark Black hair with just a little hint of purple. Remember Snow White, the fairest of the all? Her hair was black as it can be, and in East Asia, many beauties were described to have black hair as dark as darkest ink.
Black hair is the win. All other colors just look weird or incongruous.
