Ghost Hunt Ep 21 – "Bloodied-Urado…Bones…Blood…Banish."

What did Madoka tell Mai in the end that causes her to blush so badly?

I like to mislead people. For most of this episode, the mood is hardly jovial. It is just bloody and I mean it in a very literal term. Bloody.

Episode summary

ghosthunt21-1.jpg

Naru told everyone that Urado cannot be exorcised since he did not have any grievances like a spirit but instead simply wanted to continue living. Those things were demons or ghosts, things that no one in the room could destroy at all. Mai questioned his integrity and said that he was running away and not saving the two assistants. Naru said that they had already died. Naru did add that Urado could not kill anyone outside the mansion and a good way would be to burn the house down.

The mission given by Madoka in fact was to debunk the fake Dr Davis going around that was tricking others. Naru said he had to trick everyone about the real purpose since someone in the group could not lie which was Mai. Naru ordered everyone to pack up as Masako did not want Mai to talk to her so kindly. Masako was jealous that Naru addressed Mai specially by Mai’s name, while Ayako and Masako were called by surname. Mai saw that Masako was jealous and explained that it was her silliness that caused Naru to call her and instead said that Masako had Naru’s weakness. Masako said that Naru had great pride and hence hated her for discovering his weakness, as she went out to the corridor to get some breath and told Mai not to follow.

She ended by saying that she still hated Masako. When Ayako came out, Mai remembered Naru’s warning about Urado wanting young people, only to find Masako missing. Naru and everyone gathered together as Naru questioned why Mai allowed Masako to move alone. As they spent half the day trying to find Masako in that empty space, nothing was found as Mai felt horrible for not being assertive enough. Ayako came over and told Mai to take a rest. As she slept, she woke up to see Dream Naru, as Naru told Mai where Masako was. As she followed his directions, Mai found Masako squatting in the same room (torture room) as Masako said that Naru also came with a very warm smile and told her not to worry.

Masako said that she might already be dead without knowing, but Mai told her not to say such things and passed her a key. It was the key of her former house and told her that it was not a dream, as long as she believed that she was not dead. Mai promised to save her. Mai woke up, telling everyone that Masako was still alive as they followed Mai’s directions according to the dream where she was dragged away. They eventually found a separate house. Naru realized that the height of the modified floor was to hide this place as Mai remembered more of the dream. She then rushed out to the second storey, slipping slightly on the wet surface of the table in the room with Masako.

ghosthunt21-2.jpg

As Masako addressed her, she said “blood” as Mai turned around, only to see blood everywhere on the table as well as the bathtub filled with blood.A body came out saying that he did not want to die. It was Urado as Mai tried to repel him with the chant taught by Bou-san. It seemed that he was repelled as they took the chance to escape, only for a force to hold Mai back. As she was held by the spirits of the servants, bloody footsteps appeared on the ground and the bloody body of Urado came face to face with Mai.

She screamed in fear as she tried to escape with no avail. Just when Urado was about to strike, Lin came in just in time to summon some form of spirit to scare off Urado. Naru ordered everyone to escape, as Bou-san kicked through the window. Bou-san scolded Mai for being reckless again but her recklessness allowed them to find the missing people. In an adjacent room, all the bones of the victims were displayed nicely, as the blood was first drawn from their body before burning it up to be bones. The son probably built up the extra rooms to hide it.

Masako passed Mai the key in the “dream”, as Bou-san said that it was very impressive since Mai was able to get her spirit out of her body to pass Masako the key. Lin’s ability was a way to use a spirit to tangle and capture spirits when Lin explained. Masako found her comb dropping on the floor, with Mai questioning why Naru had the comb. He did not answer, as everyone teased Naru saying how worried he was for Masako. Yasuhara eventually explained to the owner about the situation and adviced him to burn the house down.

A few days later, a small news article talked about the house burning. Mai took the opportunity to ask about Naru’s parents in the office when Madoka came, since Lin and Naru were not around. Madoka said his father was a ghost hunter too, but Naru would have told her if he asked since it was nothing important but that he had something to do. Madoka then told Mai to come over, revealing that Naru and Lin were eloping causing Mai to blush. Madoka then said it would be fun if that happened as it was a joke from Madoka. Mai questioned why Naru had Masako’s comb and Madoka said that Naru was probably worried about his comrades since he was not a cold blooded man.

Probably (the probably is emphasized).

Thoughts

ghosthunt21-3.jpg

I think everyone will definitely agree that this arc is one of the most compelling arcs since it starts off with a very bloody and disturbing theme and maintains the tension of the arc throughout the four episodes. This is clearly the best arc in Ghost Hunt by a mile and I will like to see someone challenge this point that it is not. I also feel that this episode is good because it shows the inadequancy of the ghost hunters for the first time. If you notice, all the exorcism had been done rather successfully without any really big complexities.

This is perhaps the first case in which they did not have a true solution to solve it other than burning the house down to get rid of the spirits in the house. It has already been established that the power of Urado is only existent within the perimeter of the house within but I guess the fact that Naru admitted to having no ability to solve the situation does bring in some realism.

I actually see Mai’s point of view that she is probably shocked still that they cannot do anything but Naru and everyone else are experts at “soothing spirits”, not eliminating a demon like Urado who is only looking to extend his life by sacrificing lives. He is not one that wishes to move on, but simply wanting and yearning for eternal life, the life of a person seeking Utopia in a bloodied ritual.

I am also amazed at Mai’s growing strength. The ability to travel her soul beyond her body in the form of a “dream-like” situation and passing items such as a key to Masako in that state is just crazy. I mean, the ability to foresee the ghost fires in this episode is already crazy but to be able to travel beyond the physical boundaries of her body and passing the key. That is insane totally. To add on, it is amazing that Dream-Naru also visited Masako earlier, telling her that it was going to be fine. If someone can give me a good explanation to why Dream-Naru will also appear to Masako, I will give you a virtual cookie.

The only conclusion that I can derive from this situation is that Dream-Naru cannot be supported by the logic of Mai’s power and must be a power only from a foreign source, most likely Naru or a spirit source. I say this because Mai generally does not really conjure Dream-Naru but instead, he appeared to her mostly. I do not believe that Mai’s ability can extend to that effect and I feel that Dream Naru feels more like a manifestation of Naru’s subconscious power or something. On the other hand, if Mai does have the ability to project images and bodies to people, she is going to be crazily powerful.

I also thought about the fact of Naru’s father being a ghost hunter. It still does not eliminate the logic of Dr Davis being Naru. If you notice, Dr Davis is also considered to be one of the greatest ghost hunters. Nothing is said about her mother though and I am slightly disappointed at the lack of information.

Now on the comedy parts, Naru is evil for laughing at Mai for being incapable of lying (which is good). Masako’s blushing and jealousy of Mai is also classic but the best is still the two Masako x Naru moments, one being the sweet Naru comforting Masako and telling her that it is all right, and the second part about Naru keeping Masako’s comb and not saying anything.

See, the show proved that there is IN FACT SOMETHING with Masako and Naru. This is love totally! I also laughed crazily with Madoka’s antics about Naru x Lin eloping, as well as the “probably” at the suggestion of Naru doing it simply due to the concern of a comrade. Yami and Honeysempai, this does not give you the right to go all Yaoi-fangirl like. It’s just a joke by Madoka. A JOKE!

*turns all maniac fanboy-like with the TRUE REVELATION OF THIS EPISODE*

An excellently executed episode. I cannot wait for the last file, the cursed house!

P/s I didn’t know I rambled that much…

Okay, I don’t really have much to add that hasn’t already been discussed, but…

@achickenpasseth (in regard to mai tapping into masako’s vision): I think that’s actually not the case. In the episode where they both witnessed Sakauchi-kun being swallowed by the dark spirit, Masako had previously mentioned that she couldn’t see any of the spirits, only sense them, and that her sensing of Sakauchi-kun was the strongest. As for her collapsing, she probably /felt/ Sakauchi-kun’s demise, but there’s no evidence that she would suddenly gain the ability to see things like what Mai experiences when she was having issues of it before. The vision occured between Mai and Masako after Mai touched masako. My theory is that Mai is a receptive empath, as you’ve said, and she ‘boosted’ Masako’s ability, which allowed them both to have the same vision. Basically, her physically touching Masako allowed mai to see what was making masako sick.

as for the dream naru thing, I think that dream naru is most likely naru’s ability manifesting itself in a connection with Mai. He more than likely is able to sense things subconciously in what’s going on around him, and is able to inform mai of it through that mental connection. Kind of like…telepathy.

Also, for the Dr. Davis being Naru theory…I actually think Dr. Davis is probably one of Naru’s parents. Considering what Lin said about ‘the professor’ being the reason he was there. Naru may be only half or partially japanese.

eh, it’s just a theory. No comment on the comb thing except that he was probably trying to get a reading from it, but Mai beat him to it. XD. Or he did get a reading, but Mai’s ‘telepathic’ connection allowed her to pick up the answer before it filtered to his conscious mind.

I support the twin brother theory. However, I also think/agree that Real Naru has got some psychic ability that he does not realise (or he may have hidden it I’m not sure). Otherwise, how could the assumed twin brother, not knowing the existence of Mai beforehand, enter Mai’s dreams? Thus I think that the twin brother is able to ‘connect’ to Real Naru, thus found out about Mai’s psychic ability and enter her dreams.

And about the Masako x Naru thing, I also don’t think that there’s something between the two of them. Additionally, I also don’t think that there’s something between him and Mai. He is apparently closer to Mai or he simply likes Mai more than the rest since he calls her by her real name, but I don’t think there is LOVE between them =)

@Jen-chan:…Wahaha, on the really honest level, I doubt there is any form of love between Naru and Mai, or Masako and Naru (as much as I wish for it to be). It is just like a fanboy/fangirl/fanIT fantasy for the likes of us, so it’s mostly a pseudo or one-sided love affair for the girls.

I mean, if Naru suddenly kisses Mai, it will be as blasphemous like how Ayu kissed Yuuichi in episode 19 (which still annoys me about the pacing). Yes, I have brought my evil “realism stick” into the picture here.

    *runs from everyone*

@Laboosh: Good luck with your job application. That reminds me that I have to start looking too very soon. Sigh ^+^

hahahahaha!! i think i prefer reading comments than commenting. everyone’s so funny.

anyways, i figure dr-naru merely warns people of dangers ahead and stuff. i mean, all he ever says mostly is “be careful” or “wake up its not safe here” or “its going to be ok”. he doesnt reveal info per se. i think mai could probably see ghostly phenomenons in her dream with or without dr-naru, as proven by ep20. oh and the sakauchi thing. which is why mai would know certain things naru doesnt.

having said that, dr-naru prolly visits naru, too. haha dr-naru probably tells naru how his friends are in danger too!

which is why he always so CONVENIENTLY appears whenever mai’s in trouble.

    and CATxLIN. waaaahahahahahahahahhahaha.

@impz: lol okay i got an ally here :D

@laboosh: yes i remembered the smile =) but as I said, that’s because he probably likes Mai more than the other girls, or he felt that Mai is really a nice and kind person. Love is something more than that. And Naru, as I believe, is a kind person. So even if Masako is the one that fell into the hole (remember that awful classroom episode), he will still save her.

    OFF TOPIC

@ThirteenSugars, Much as I hate sugar in my tea, if Abel was serving it, I would for certain drink it. ^-^ Scarily I also think he’s yummy when he goes all Crusnik.

Its that long white hair, I’m a sucker for it. Hence my love of InuYasha and Sesshoumaru.

My friend even made me dolls of them.
And even though the Sesshoumaru one is almost the same height as me, I enjoy being petite too.

There’s something cute about having to reach up on tip toes to kiss the one you love. (If I guessed the anime wrong then just ignore me!)

Ooh what date? My mothers birthday is in May too.

Laboosh, Ganbatte! I hope it all goes well. And thank you, I love reading your comments as well.

I agree that Naru would more than likely get Mai to call them in. I don’t think he’d want to deal with it himself so it seems like something he designate her to do. Since she’s an assistant an all.

And as much as I want to see it I’m pretty damn sure myself we aren’t going to see any sort of a romantic resolution. And as much as I want the pairing, much like SaiMo it’ll be better if they don’t show Naru and Mai sharing a kiss, or declaring their undying love for one another. Much like Ryuyki and Shuurei from SaiMo.

It would just go against Naru’s character for starters and it would be too rushed. There is something between them. Naru has softened towards her quite a bit I would say. Although he’s liked something about her from the start, because he’s teased her pretty much since the beginning. He was maybe impressed with her not fangirling him the first time they met. He just seems more comfortable around her than he does Masako. But I would have to agree what he feels isn’t quite love I don’t think. At least not yet!
Mai likes him, but doesn’t really want to admit it. But I think it has a way to go before that develops into love I would say.

    OFF TOPIC END.

@Cat: Cat x Lin? I … worry for your safety in which you might be lynched with a rather rough treatment with the evil and rabid Lin fans around. Hmmm, or will it?

@Hikaru: I actually believe that Dr Davis is in fact Naru’s parents, simply due to an episode that relates first the professor (Dr Davis, hint?) and then his parents worrying. I just had that feeling that the two are the same.

@Jen-chan: And i was wondering about why Naru fails so badly at girls. If he is a little more slick, he might have tons of chicks flocking at him. Not that he hasn’t gotten most of the gals here going googoogaga over him. Hah!

@Impz, I don’t think he fails badly at girls. Remember the first ep? He practically had those girls eating out of his hand. I think he could easily pull if he wanted, judging from the first ep, he’s actually quite adept at manipulating the opposite sex based on his looks, if he so wanted.

That’s just not what he’s after. LOL and that of course is what makes him so irresistable, his aloof nature. Much like Lin-san.

@Cat, run, run now! You’ll have to fight 13sugars for Lin-san. As sweet as she is I think she might prove to be quite fierce in a fight for Lin-san.

Wow. this arc was really really good. thank god i watched this episode during the day though. i think that dream naru is a manifestation of naru’s powers. naru probably carried around masako’s comb for a reason. since dream naru has never shown up in anyone’s dreams except mai’s, it seems odd that he would suddenly appear to masako. naru probably needed something of masako’s to contact her. something like dr. davis?

    (I missed this)

~DJ~ Crusnik Abel is a treat though I think Crusnik Cain looks more yummylicious! (lol) And yes, like you, I’m also enslaved by the long-white-haired bishies out there. ^^

And yes, my nickname came from Trinity Blood; Abel’s fondness for thirteen sugars in almost all of his drinks. :P

Oh! I find that very adorable too! When guys would have to lean down a bit and petite girls would have to strain up a little on tip-toes, when two people would have to make the half-ways effort that needs to meet for a kiss. It is very charming. ^^

As for the shameless Lin-fangirl in me, I’d prefer to be sitting on Lin-sama’s lap when we finally make the half-ways effort needed for a kiss…Kyaaa!!! (lol, forgive my provocative imagination.)

heehee yes, and if I’m not mistaken, it was started last week by yours truly :P

reading comments from others though, especially from the manga readers (I think) I’m starting to have doubts about my theory…Seeing how the series is ending soon with only ONE MORE case to go, I’d be sooooooooooooo disappointed if nothing is revealed by the end, and they don’t plan for a second season.

Just out of curiousity, did they clear the air in the manga? Since someone mentioned it was on hiatus =’(. I’m just curious as to whether they’ve given thorough background information to each main characters, such as the abilities of Ayako, Naru’s identity, a definite romantic pairing, etc.

Oh and the whole thing about Naru being of mixed blood, is it not strange that no one’s noticed at all? I mean, from what I have seen in real life, and I believe I’ve seen plenty, when someone is a mix of asian and caucasian, you can definitely tell. Especially since in all the anime series that I’ve seen, it doesn’t matter if a character has blonde/yellow hair or not, but if you are of mixed blood, someone will surely point it out in the show not long after meeting you.

So I’d think it’d be really weird if it turns out that Naru is half Japanese and half English.

man…so many comments, it’s taking forever to read them all. So I’m kinda commenting as I read :P

I disagree with what a couple of people had suggested, that Masako knows that dreamNaru is Naru’s twin, and that’s his weakness. While the whole twin thing might be Naru’s weakness, and maybe, just maybe Masako knows of the existence of this other person, but she definitely does not know that DreamNaru is the other twin. I think it’s pretty obvious from this episode, since when Mai came to Masako in the dream, Masako told Mai that *Naru* was there with her the whole time, and *Naru* smiled. I guess some would think that she is deliberately saying “Naru” to hide the “weakness” from other people, but I doubt at that moment, being so shaken with fear, Masako would be able to think about “hiding the truth”. Also the way how she said “Naru” was smiling, she sounded happy, like the person she likes (which is the real Naru, not the twin) is showing her kindness, it’s almost like she saw the light.

“I was actually thinking that Masako might’ve found out how powerful Naru really is (since Naru has the ability to go into dreams etc.) and that could also be the “weakness

@MadHatter – I think that part of your theory is quite possible :) . I think it’s either that, or she knows of his real identity and that of his parents. Or, like what’s-her-name said in this episode, Naru ran away from home (not necessarily eloping w/ Lin…since I do believe Naru’s heart belongs with Mai

), and Masako knows about it.

Also, I think someone mentioned that Naru’s twin might not be dead, just suffers from a terminal illness. I think that’s a really interesting way of explaining things, and it definitely makes sense. But honestly, I’d rather have him dead than having him suffer throughout this series. :( poor thing.

And regarding the comments (maybe from the comments for the last episode’s entry?) that oppose the DreamNaru = Naru’s twin idea, saying how he could’ve appeared to Naru instead of Mai, I believe it’s because Naru does not have the psychic ability that Mai does. I really don’t know what it’s called, since I never took note to actually memorize all the terminology from GH (I am ashamed of myself), but I believe that’s why he’s appeared only to Mai and Masako.

Although I’d like to think that DreamNaru appeared mostly to Mai because he knows his twin is secretly in love w/ this girl, blah blah blah, but I believe the more logical explanation would be that he’s just there to protect Naru mostly, and to help him and his acquaintances. Mai, as we have seen from the previous and current episodes, has the strongest power of sensing things, eventhough Masako is supposed to be the pro here, so it’s only nature he appeared only to Mai at first.
But I think overtime, Mai and DreamNaru probably will, or have already developed feelings for each other, Mai just doesn’t know that the other person really exists, so she thought she really fell for the next closest thing — Naru.

    :)

13sugars – OFF TOPIC. Thanks for the answer. About the name, I got it first time I read. I was just kidding with yours. And I read later that it came from Bloodtrinity, I saw an episode of it, it’s amazing. And the 13 sugars guy, I forgot his name as usual, his appearance reminds me of a friend. So weird when this happens. You start thinking about your friend doing everything they do, and sometimes it’s VERY weird.

Now I’ve been reading stuff about Naru thinking Mai or Masako are hot. Hahahahaha! Sorry. Been reading about romances between them (I don’t include in this Mai with Masako!!). Well, about Naru and Mai… I don’t think he likes her in a girlfriend/boyfriend way. But I do think he likes her… I think she’s his favorite. Not that he’s the kind of person “Mary is my best friend in the whole world! *Writing in the journal*” Hahaha. But he feels better around her… That’s why, in some level, he asked her to work with him.

About Naru and Masako… Seriously, I think he goes out with her because her dad is sponsoring him. Didn’t they mention that she had a rich father, or something like that? It’s just a guess, but she found him cute so asked her dad to sponsor him. If he is rude and ironic with her, he might lose money. That’s why he accepted to go out with her and Mai found that so strange. I haven’t seen this episode yet, so maybe that comb thing will change my theories. Although I don’t think so…

There are quite a few of sweet moments! My personal favourite is the one in the arc with the cursed chair in the school where the culprit was the teacher. I’m always mentioning it. :P It’s when Naru tried to save Mai from falling into the tunnels, and when he couldn’t, tried to cheer her up/distract her with magic tricks. I truly can’t imagine him doing the same for Masako. Or John. Or Ayako. Or even Lin.

Then there’s the way he moved in front of Mai as if to protect her when the ghost appeared (when they were in the tunnels). There’s the way he protected Mai from the collapsing ceiling. There’s the way he teased Mai on one hand and always putting her safety first on the other.

Real Naru can be as sweet, or sweeter, than Dream Naru.

beingmeyuki – Yeah I forgot about this secret Masako knows, I read about it in a forum or something. Man I have to watch this episode soon. Maybe that’s the reason she can blackmail him. Most likely to be, as a matter of fact.

Briar, I agree with what you said about Naru and Mai. She’s the one he feels comfortable with, not in a boyfriend love way. Yet. Who knows, right? I’m not the kind of person that cheers for couples… I like characters. And if Dream Naru is Naru’s twin brother, well I prefer Naru anyway. Maybe because I know that he has his convictions… But it’s not for everyone to be a part of that. So he is true to himself and others. I don’t think I like people that are too nice, they seem to fake it, hide things inside of them and act as these things didn’t exist. Ahn… Anyways!
Mai started having a crush on Naru after she saw the Dream Naru, right? Again my bad memory.

Mai has a crush on Naru at the first glance. You could call it crush at first sight. :D Well ok… maybe not. It’s more of a crush at second sight, because at the first sight she was thinking that Naru’s eyes aren’t smiling although his face is smiling; but right from the start she thinks that Naru is really handsome. :D

Despite what I wrote up there, I still think there’s a lot of potential between Mai and Naru. After all, relationships are based as much on trust and friendship as on love. In fact, I can’t say what Naru has for Mai is purely friendship or trust or whatever. Who knows, he may already be liking Mai in the eros way, but he doesn’t realize it, so we as the viewers don’t know either. :P

@ ohphive : “Just out of curiousity, did they clear the air in the manga? Since someone mentioned it was on hiatus =’(. I’m just curious as to whether they’ve given thorough background information to each main characters, such as the abilities of Ayako, Naru’s identity, a definite romantic pairing, etc.”

I suppose this constitutes something of a spoiler, but since I’ve talked about it elsewhere (AnimeSuki), I guess it’s okay to say it here. The manga has not yet cleared the air as you put it. The manga has halted (hopefully temporarily) one investigation short of telling you most of the answers to the mysteries concerning Naru.

@Briar, thanks for bringing up those other sweet moments^_^ as i said earlier in my post, the one where Naru brought tea was just “one” of his sweet moments^_^

@Bruna: i wish i knew what this secret is. if you happen to remember,do share it with us:)

i recall vaguely that Mai already thought that Naru was cute, the first time she met him. but i don’t think it was a full blown crush yet. it developed when she started hanging around him and saw dream naru as well. they do seem to have potential. but i don’t know if Naru ever considered the possibility of a relationship with anyone. he seems obsessed with work:p but i agree that he seems to care/worry about mai more than others…

I’m happy to say that I was wrong about the manga stopping one story before the Naru secrets are revealed. Word has just broken in the GH manga fandom that manga volume 10 (the next story) is scheduled for Japanese release in April. You have no idea how happy that makes me. It’s been over a year since volume 9 came out and word is that the mangaka has been ill. I seriously doubted that there the next story would ever come out in manga.

@LKK, YAY! That is happy news! When I read your earlier post I was very disheartened. But I do hope the mangaka isn’t seriously ill.

Wow, as fun as it has been speculating about everything, for you manga readers to have waited a year before seeing any kind of resolution must have been sheer torture. Ah I hope they give the anime a good resolution.

    *Hopes ferverently that they do*

Hmm still need to get my hands on the manga myself. LOL though at this point the anime will be well over by the time I do.

I honestly think dream naru is just a guardian spirit. IT takes Naru’s form bwcause Mai likes Naru. Mai was worried about MAsako so it went to comfort her. Remember that Lin has bound demons. Mai just has a helpful spirit.

What this says is that Mai is indeed, very powerful.

And I always wait for an arc to be completely out before watching. And this one scared the bejesus out of me. I think each arc is scarier than the last. The next one will have me hiding under my bed for days.

Wow…just finished watching this episode and there are no better series airing right now than Ghosthunt…. I’m of the opinion that Naru has powers that he is not letting on…. like bending spoons a while back, then performing a “fake” version later to throw everyone off… He probably needed Masako’s item to connect to her in Dream state… if that’s so , what of Mai’s does he always keep on his person? This series needs multiple seasons…. it just to great.

Heh, I was so happy reading everyone’s comments that I didn’t reply at all. However, I do agree on Briar, DJ and 13sugars on various things during the past few comments.

@Soavifox: I believe that the last arc might be just the best and I do wonder if the manifestation is really due to Mai. I got a feeling now after the speculation by 13sugars and Briar that the Dream Naru is in fact not caused by Mai but received by Mai. There’s no alteration of visual reality on her.

@Voodoomage: Hmm, Naru is definitely a mysterious person. However, I doubt that there will be any 2nd season for it due to the fact that they do not have any more material for the manga. The last arc will end just where the manga did. Sigh. Here’s to hoping.

^-^ forgive me minna, i normally don’t look for romance in an anime lol

but if i must pick, i’d really prefer naru x mai pairing, and yes i’d go crazy if naru kisses masako, but still it’s hard for me to imagine him kissing mai, maybe hugging her but .. x.x

i am now very much looking forward to The Cursed House. I wonder what sort of storyline will they come up with this time round =) i know they don’t have any more materials for 2nd season but .. who knows?! *blinks*

Hmm maybe when the manga ends we could get a nice feature length OAV or something.

I think I would rather see that, than see it continue on for another season of fillers, if it has proved popular enough to warrant another season.

Ugh the word ‘fillers’ just makes me shudder.

I know we all love it, but does anybody know what ratings it’s getting in Japan?

@ dj: well i dnt knw if tht’s help, bt u but go and check http://www.animenewsnetwork.com and u can c the rating, bt um not sure^^

  46. Posted March 5, 2007 at 11:05 am | Permalink

@DJ: Ok, I am not sure if I got it right but these are the ratings for Ghost hunt that is shown at 2500 hours. It’s doing quite well as a late night anime series actually. The word here though is “quite well”. Shows like Nodame Cantabile and Desu Note are trouncing it. Digikerot from Beta-Waffle also informed me that Ghost Hunt isn’t selling very well on DVD.

[DiGiKerot] Its not even making the top 20 anime DVDs on release week

    January 9 = 1.8

    January 16 = 2.1

    January 30 = 0.9

    February 13th = 2.2

Source is from this geocity website that collates these data

  47. Posted March 5, 2007 at 1:17 pm | Permalink

Maybe it’s just us westerners that love it so much…. maybe we are the minority, as much as I love Kanon and DeathNote…. Ghosthunt is far more satisfying to me….

  48. D.J
    Posted March 5, 2007 at 4:36 pm | Permalink

Hmm then considering the dvd sales and the fact a few other animes are trouncing it, we probably won’t see a second season.

Maybe they have decided not to bother with the filler episode too for that reason.

    (Pout)

Ah well, you may be right Voodoomage. Another anime that seemed to go pretty well over here but not so well over there was Samurai Champloo. I personally really liked it and wished we could have seen more, but alas I guess it didn’t fare too well over there.

    Sad but true I guess.

I wonder if the same thing happened with Trinity Blood. I heard it got cut from 26 episodes to 24. It would kind of make sense, because it seemed like they tried to condense a lot into the last episode, and well I was pretty disappointed.

If I hadn’t have read up on the novels and so had background as to what was happening, I totally would have been confused as to what was going on.

So I hope we get a clear cut ending for Ghost Hunt.

Keh, this is the anime world I’m talking about. I should know by now your not always guaranteed a nice neat ending! ^-^
