:3-tan will be absolutely delighted that Engrish is completely displayed in its full glory in Episode 5. I initially wanted to do a detailed analysis on the message that Mei (voiced by Aya Hirano) was saying at the start of this episode but found it impossible to understand what she is trying to say. However, that is not the best thing after watching Episode 5. It is the fact that I realize Chinese fansubbers cannot write English well. I cannot blame them though, since I cannot even decipher the Engrish provided. Still, it is a little appalling.
Please see the information provided below and be astoundingly amazed how good they are at the ability of Engrish.
Note: In the following screenshots, the english is from the Chinese sub. I have to warn since something like this came through when I let Lupus take a look at it before it is posted.
[Lupus-sol] oh gosh hahaha
[Lupus-sol] wtf
[Lupus-sol] is that your translation
[Lupus-sol] or the Chinese subber’s translation?
[Lupus-sol] the English on the screenshots
[impz] NO
[impz] IT’S NOT MINE
[impz] it’s the chinese sub’s translation
[impz] ..i think i have to emphasize that

So there is a “this” that is inherently female and has a hot back. I never knew of such a species. I guess Mei does like her things to be female and that is perhaps the problem of an all girls school.
Mei tells you no lies. The “this” is female and has a hot back.

So is the “this” long or not? I am confused by the ambiguity or is Mei speaking some form of ancient parable that is awaiting to be Maybe she is thinking of
1. The length of the “this” which is female and has a hot back.
2. Mei actually knows about T.H.A.T anime blog and uses a meme to laugh at us by using T.H.I.S.
3. The male object of power. No, I am not perverted, I am thinking about the fist of strength.

I didn’t know they are studying Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Since Mei is a tsundere, I assume that she is Ma Chao since she said she is of the Shu faction, a bit anyway.

Close ser = Closer = Come close to me?

Wah, she actually means if you come closer to her, she will make sure that you will be speared by the power of Shu! I am glad I did not get tricked by her innocent looks! She’s a tsunyandere in disguise.
What in the world is a tsunyandere anyway?

She’s into lolis? Very young ones. She needs to be four, not fourteen, darn it!
Those lolicons are very scary to have the ability to influence Manabi Straight’s :3-tan!

I bet the subbers are as stoned as Momo when they are trying to decipher the English. I swear I look like that when I am trying to hear what Aya Hirano is trying to say for the 5th and finally going “Bah, the hell with it!”.
P/S: I am not dissing any fansubs because I think they are a wonderful bunch of people who work voluntarily for this. Still, bad subbing makes for good jokes and understand why Beijing is trying so hard to boost the English economy before the Olympics, right?

My old HK Shadow Skill vcds had fucked up engrish subs like that as well.
I didn’t understand what she was saying either (^^;;) Anyways, a ヤンデレ (yandere) is a character that falls for whoever, but due to circumstances eventually loses it — see Kaede from SHUFFLE! or Kirino from Gift, for example.
Wow, and their Engrish is thirty thousand times better than my Mandarin…
I gave up trying to hear it, too. Here is a 2channel poster’s transcription and translation:
The spear is very black and hard
lol rofls….that’s funny
OMFG WTF this is just LOLZ
Roflmao thats messed up but I’ve seen worse unfortunatly
my take at it:
the spear is very black and hard
and it is large and long
jun/jury is surprised at it
yaku(?) strongly grabs it
and she pressing it against him
but, she had never fought… (or maybe thought?)
well yeah…
oh and ‘yaku’ might actually be ‘you could’…
this should be a contest where everyone takes a dib on what is the true phrasing of it!
lol I wish I could but I’m currently LOL’ing at the apparent perversity absurdity of the translations XD
