Let’s have an exercise in futility: ranking the Espada. There have been many number theories and mathematical sequences generated in order to create a logical order to the ranking of the Espada but so far none have been correct. Because I’m bored, let’s talk about what you think the ranking of the Espada might be. There might be spoilers below so don’t click if you’re not caught up with the manga. I have included a picture of the infamous tea party table seating for reference (click for bigger).
Here’s my personal prediction on the ranking:

2. Nnoitra
3. Stark
4. Old Espada
5. Halibel
6. Grimmjow
7. Zommari
8. Szayelaporro
9. Aaroniero
10. Yammy
Bolded names are the confirmed rankings by manga. All the rest are based on gut feeling with no complicated number sequences or formulas, except for Noitora – I think he is #2 based on what he told Telsa. He thinks he’s the strongest Espada but yet he’s not recognised as the strongest, so this probably means he’s #2. And I think Ulquiorra is #1 because he’s so damn intelligent and analytical, and he is Aizen’s pet as well.

Hi, just wondering what vastro lordes look like when they release. As we know VLs look the most humanoid, and when they release they should be just the same size as humans, just like ichigo in bankai mode. So how can they compete with the giant bankai of the captains? And will there be the perfect espada where all are VLs? Then will they be more powerful than Stark, Barragan, Halibel, Ulquiorra (assuming they are VLs)?

They’ll be captain size bankai, since they were captains at one point. The mask just gives em more power. Ichigo’s bankai is wierd… it’s the only small bankai. It’s all good in the hood.

Barragan is the number 1, because he is the more old of all espadas and he fight versus yamamoto geynriusai, the first captain

Because if I just tell you all of there ranks then that would defeat the whole purpose of suprise when you watch the show.
If you read the manga you will find out who all the espadas are.
But I will tell yuo the #1 Espada.

This topic has gone all annoying because there are some people who still think Barragan will be number one EVEN though it has been revealed he is 2nd, these are just people watching the anime.

Well, since Arrancar get their order of birth I’d say the Barragan is Number one, and it kinda feels like Halibel is a number two^^ dont ask me why^^ and Stark would be 3, strong but lazy^^
And @Laura: Only Espada get numbers, Aizen, Zousen and Gin are Shinigami, therefore no Espada and dont need those numbers^^ They are just the bosses of this little Espada Justice League
From what i can see from the latest manga Ulquiorra wants to be seen as weak by the others, even Aizen. Even though he is marked the fourth he could be stronger than all of the others combined. i cant wait for the next chapter…i think they come out on Thursdays.
Well I think considering Stark as no.1 makes sense since stark is a german adjective which means strong and bleach has been using german expressions a lot. like for example Seelenschneider, which means “soul cutter” and is the name of one of ishidas weapons, or sprenger. but there were some other things called german names like one of the zanpakous (sry i dunno how to spell this^^ i’m talking ’bout the shinigamis blades). however… I think Stark is gonna be the top espada since putting that old dude would be gay since the shinigamis leader looks kind alike him since he’s an old dooshbag too.

Yammy becomes zero because that is his resurrection form, that means he got the strength of zero (0) or more than the number one espada that is not in the resurrection form.

wonderweiss and guys in sayzel aporros lab mayuri found probally the strongest dont know for sure though. ulquiorra 2nd form might have been as strong as halibel or stronger cant see it being on starrks level tho even tho his battle was more impressive.

2nd – Killed by Hatchi (vizard)
3rd – Killed by Aizen cuz “she was too weak and wasn’t stronger than the enemies” She was at the same lvl as the enemy
4th – ? I think he just lost to Kurosaki ichigo or died after that
5th – Killed by kenpachi 11th captain( I think he is crazy)
6th – fate unkown but didn’t die from Ichigo
7th – Killed in 2 seconds when Byakuya with his Bankai
8th – Killed by Mayori 12th captain
9th – Killed by Rukia ( super weak )
