Let’s have an exercise in futility: ranking the Espada. There have been many number theories and mathematical sequences generated in order to create a logical order to the ranking of the Espada but so far none have been correct. Because I’m bored, let’s talk about what you think the ranking of the Espada might be. There might be spoilers below so don’t click if you’re not caught up with the manga. I have included a picture of the infamous tea party table seating for reference (click for bigger).
Here’s my personal prediction on the ranking:

Bolded names are the confirmed rankings by manga. All the rest are based on gut feeling with no complicated number sequences or formulas, except for Noitora – I think he is #2 based on what he told Telsa. He thinks he’s the strongest Espada but yet he’s not recognised as the strongest, so this probably means he’s #2. And I think Ulquiorra is #1 because he’s so damn intelligent and analytical, and he is Aizen’s pet as well.

yammy is actually number 0 and the strongest
yammy can’t be the strongest. It just doesn’t make any sense. He should be 10 or maybe 9 but not the strongest.
Judging by how old this blog post is and how far back this is in the show I’m surprised someone posting with the name “Bleach watcher” would be confused that Yammy is number 10 and number 0 (thus being the strongest) when he builds up his reaitsu before releasing. In short, the list Kyle posted is the correct order of the Espada.
I dont believe Yammy deserves the title “0″. He may have an emense amount of reiatsu but if he doesn’t use it properly he would never be able to fight with all control. And I also mention how he was easiest arrancar that was defeated even after he released his reiatsu.

Ok so Kenpatchi took a hard time beeating Nnoitora but he beat Yammy so easily so no when he released he becomes Espada 0 but still is weaker than Barragan,Stark and Ulqiorra so no he’s not strongestt when releasing….And Barragan would beat any Espada except Stark cuz he’s long ranged but almost all others need 2 be close to do any kind of damage…That make Stark stronger than Barragan and Yammy….

Actually, Hallibel is ranked 3rd & The Old Espada ( Barragan) is ranked 2nd, tbh stark’s my favourite xD either him or ulqiurra.
nelliel is no. 3 as shown in episode 192.
i know every number and it looks that the numbers are 1-10 but it is later revealed that its 0-9 because when Yammy releases he becomes a giant then and his 10 turns to a 0. He even states that he is the weakest but when he releases he turns out to be the most powerful and most deadly.

Due to Ulquiorra’s segunda etapa (Second release), it is apparent that he may have climbed the ranks, seeing as none of the other arrancar have such a thing. This might mean that Ulquiorra has become a Vasto Lorde, but as his death came too soon, we can’t be sure.
Also, somewhere along the rankings could be the old espada, like Nelliel and Luppi.
Wonderweiss was the first Vasto Lorde arrancar to be committed to Aizen’s army, but due to the fact that he was made a vasto lorde/arrancar when the Hogyoku was still incomplete, his strength isn’t especially controlled. He wold probably be in the top three, if it wasn’t for his absence in some things.
Don’t put who you like up front. Got with facts.
0:Baraggan Luisenbarn- His (Respira) notice I didn’t say power- is easily able to overcome that of the other espada. His Respira is able to age/rot anything and everything. He was only able to be killed because of Hachigen Ushōda. If not for him Baraggan would of kill all of them, including Aizen.
1:Ulquiorra- His second form gives him the advantage over most of the espada. In that form he is easily the fastest and most powerful of all of the espada, but in over all he would have no way around Baraggan’s Respira.
2:Starrk- For in his release state he dose have immanence power and speed, and is the most skilled of them all but he would have only a slight chance of beating Ulquiorra but none when fighting Baraggan.
Any other past this point are worthless to bring up.
after reading most of the comments here I feel its my job to inform anyone who may be wondering the true rank of the espadas forget all this and read the mangas for yourself because the true rank is nothing like the one suggested here i believe the writers would know what they are doing and such yammi is indeed the strongest because as stated in the manga he is ranked 0 because his power is not based off of strength but emotion as he gets angry hes power increases as does hes size leaving stark as number 1 with him being divided into two where his younger self acts as a weapon as well as when they combine they are much more powerful then you have halibel number 2 neliel was former 3 but replaced after former 8 noitora try to kill her and she went missing until ichigo finds her making noitora now the number 5 but yes i dont agree with this but my two favorites where under classed with Ulquiorra 4 and Grimmjow 6 leaving zommari 7 szayel 8 arroniro 9 and yammi again 10 – 0 with his unstable powers as stated above please feel free to read the manga I trust you wont be disappointed go to bleachexile.com they have all up to date mangas and even original episode releases

1. Ulquiorra. his lanza is way more explosive then soifons bankai so even if barragan can age it and make it explode before it makes contact. Barragan will still get caught in the blast. Starrks ceros and wolves wouldn’t be able to pierce through Ulquiorras enhanced hierro in his murcielcgo form not even ichigos getsuga tensho can. so what if Yammy has a second release. Yammys to slow so one shot cero Oscuras and yammy will have a hole in his body like ichigo when he got blasted by ulquiorras cero oscuras
And ulquiorra can thrash the rest of the espadas as well. And also can beat at least toshiro(bankai),utitake& shunsui(shikai) and rukia teaming up. in his second release.
and just maybe we havent seen all of ulquiorras abilties in his segunda cause super hollow ichigo maybe bet him up to quckly so ulquiorra does not have a chance to show his other new abilties

I just wrote myself a peanut3423-style countdown on the Espada, counting Nel and Luppi. Here’s how mine goes from worst to first.
12- Grimmjow (he’s really bland, and a total douchebag)
11- Nnoitora (douchier than Grimmjow, but with a better design, cooler powers, and a better fight)
10- Luppi (I HATE LUPPI, but he’s not that bad actually)
9- Yammy (lame fights, but other than that, he’s pretty cool)
8- Zommari (he was really cool! Most underrated Espada.)
7- Nelliel (Yeah, she’s awesome, but not AS awesome as the others.)
6- Baraggan (His abilities are epic, his fight was great to watch, and his design is SICK)
5- Aaroniero (I freaking love Aaroniero! His design is great, his fight was awesome, and his abilites are so cool!)
4- Starrk (The Lone Wolf. Awesome.)
3- Halibel (She’s got the best personality other than Nel’s, her design is awesome, her abilities are really well made, and her fight with Shiro is great.)
2- Ulquiorra (I SAID IT FANGIRLS! He doesn’t have much in the personality or originality department, being a mix between Sephiroth and Batman, but his fight was SPECTACULAR and his design is awesome.)
1- Szayel-Aporro (Best abilites, great design, AWESOME fight. I love Szayel-Aporro so much.)

Hallibel Should realy go On Segunda, Just because shes Offence and Defence Surpasses everyones els, Nnoitra use hierro but she dosent need it because of her timing when the enemies coming. Ulquiorra I dont realy like him but hes super strong. Starrk comes in Tercera because hes too soft. Cuarta Comes nnoitra, hes epic. Quinta, Grimmjow hes strong aswell. Sexta, Szayel, Hes realease, is the devil. Sestima, Barragan, Hes too old plus he sucks. Zomari Octava, Zomari speed might be good, but hes offence/defence sucks. Yammy, comes 9, he sucks soooo hard. Aroniero comes 10, even though hes way better than yammy.
All the Bleach Episodes are adventure and action packed. And I love to watch this type of series a lot.

the reason why I think aaroniero is best 4 espada 0# is because he can absorb abilities and strength from whoever he chooses to absorb not to mention can turn in to who ever he has previously absorbed.he’s awesome with his pitch fork and how he only stays in the darkness and the episode where he fights rukia is my fav.
aaroniero only takes the power from the hollows he has consumed, not from whomever he wants. My list goes like this (from 1-10):
1: Ulquiorra Cifer(with segunda etapa could overpower the others, especially since the others don’t know of it.)
2: Coyote Starrk (very fast and skilled, and took down Love AND Rose 1v2, as well as he put up a good fight against Kyoraku)
3: Barragan Louisenbarn (his respira ability could take down almost anyone, though he is not THE most skilled in close combat, nor is he ultra fast)
4: Yammy Llarog (even with Ira, he was very powerful, but slow and dim-witted, thus unable to inflict many injuries at all on Byakuya and Kenpachi)
5: Tier Harribel (very skilled and fast with cool powers, but outfought by Toshiro, as she would not have escaped if not for Wonderweiss)
6:Nnoitra Gilga: (His skills didn’t particularily impress me, nor any really cool powers, but his hierro is tough for even Kenpachi to cut, making him a very tough opponent)
7: Grimmjow Jeagerjaques: (Fast, skilled and destructive, but not to the degree as others. I think people raise his rank because they like him)
8: Zommari Leroux (His speed is the only really impressive thing about him, but his release can also inflict some good damage if they aren’t prepared.
9: Szayel Apporo Grantz (Fornicaras has cool powers but they are easy to evade and it makes him quite slow. He could get cut down easily by most Captains.)
10: Aaroniero Arruruerie (His speed is nothing special, his release is probably pretty slow, and one good blow from a captain should suffice.)
Harribel is a confirmed Vasto Lorde, Barragan being the former king of Hueco Mundo seems to be one as well, I can’t see Starrk not being one, and Ulquiorra looks like one as well, given his power, and his old hollow form (there is a chapter of his hollow past in one of the Bleach character books) Grimmjows past implies he got to the next level as well. I doubt Yammy, Szayel, and Zommari are, if you look at their released form, and overall lesser power, I can kinda see Nnoitra being one though, and Aaroniero is a confirmed gillian.

I only changed the order after number 6 because I think the order is correct up to that point. So Hallibel is 5 espada because her attacks, reiatsu and defense aren’t that big of a deal compared to the guys above her, but she is still very resiliente and a tough fighter. Nnoitra is 4 espada because he’s got a very hard skin and he took a hit from kenpachi with his eyepatch off 2 times and remained in one piece. Also his reiatsu and 6 arms after his release are very hard to deal with. Yammy is 3 espada because his reiatsu and his resillience to attacks after his release are absurd and he can change his form according to his anger. He is only number 3 because his lack of inteligence and size makes him very vulnerable. Coyote Stark in 2 espada because his reiatsu and his capability of analysis is superb and he is very intelligent. The only downfall is that he is very lazy and laidback, which puts him in a very difficult spot sometimes. Despite that, his wolves are “like flames” and can explode and his cero metralleta is a frightening tecnhique that almost forced Kyouraku to enter his bankai mode. Barragan is 1 espada because you can’t possibly attack him in a normal way. On a one on one fight, it’s virtually impossible to win because his tecnhique(Respira) allows him to rot everything, from kido to normal attacks and buildings. Also he is was the king of Hueco Mundo and he was a lot of experience and knowledge. Now to the more controversial(Ulquiorra).
I ranked Ulquiorra the 0 espada(The most powerful) because his speed and attack power are incredible in his ressurection. But when he enters his Segunda Etapa, he becomes nearly “invincible”. His speed, attack power, inteligence, reiatsu and analysis capability all become off the charts and on a one on one fight no one could even touch him(only Yamamoto and Aizen). Despite the fact that he was beaten by Ichigo(something that should not have happened but whatever) his Cero Oscuras and Lanza del Relampago attacks power and speed are incredible and no one in the espada could defeat him in a normal fight, not even Barragan. Also he is the coolest, just saying.
Oh and I forgot that Ulquiorra has his regenerative ability. He is just too beast sorry guys.
