The blogosphere is more than just 1 blog: The First February wave

Rozen Maidens of the Animeblogger Round Table, Unite!

With the turn of February, animeblogger.net has a huge influx of new bloggers waiting to show their trade and love of anime to the wired world. I know Maestro has accepted many new bloggers for the past 2 months and it is definitely exciting times for an anime blogger to see many other new bloggers in the scene. With more people, the community is starting to see an upsurge of interest and that can only be good news for better interaction between people who have a love in writing and anime.

Even as I write this, I hear that more blogs are getting accepted so I will soon have this editorial to be a fortnight entry.

This is perhaps a good time for me to talk about yet another anime blog, one that provides a bit of summary as well as satire in its comments and captions. He’s a blogger named Alvin, owner of the blog known as Average Asian Anime Blog

Want to know what I think of his blog? No?

You are missing a lot of flaming by me! Just kidding, just read on though.

What does the blog do?

TripleA is the owner of this very active blog that has started in early January with the new influx of anime bloggers in ab.net. Like many other new bloggers trying to find a niche for himself, he has started with episode summaries of series such as Kanon, Pumpkin Scissors, Code Geass with some short commentaries within each episode summary. Previous summaries that are covered by him includes Asatte no Houkou.

Critique

I do like the design of the blog, which I often think to be one of the most important points whether I will return to a blog or not. The banner is a mesh of Haruhi chibi characters and a few random stuff. I personally think that the quality of the words in the banner can be improved, unless he is trying to be ironic with the Average Asian part. It will be better with a revamping of his banner. I do like how he starts each episode with a picture and allowing the viewer to press more if they are interested. That really helps to keep the content as clean as it can, with consistency.

Impz must admit that he has only viewed TripleA’s blog a few times, not really entering to see his episode summaries. As I looked into more detail on his entries, I find it very interesting with some of the captions that he uses along with the illustration screenshots and the fact is that most of his entries are hardly episode summaries.

They are more of the satire genre, which is always good for a few laughs. It is perhaps the start of the entry before the “more” tag that makes it sound like it’s a generic episode summary blog. Perhaps, he can add a joke right at the start of the post to give more anticipation for his satire entries. I have made the mistake, even after doing a quick overview of the posts he has. Still, he is still probably adjusting and finding his way around in the anime. On closer scrutiny, it seems to be a good mix of humor, sarcasm and irony in all his posts.

I think it will be great if TripleA goes on his style because I find his writing to be genuinely hilarious most of the time, and it’s a blog where you do not need to watch the show to get most of the jokes. That is the power of satire, and he has effectively reduced anime-required knowledge to understand what he writes.

I will recommend Average Asian Anime Blog if you like to have a bit of laughter in your life. Always good to have some laughs.
