"Zero" is no zero

I watched yet another series recommended by Impz and for my own sanity, please don’t ask how long it took me to finish Zero no Tsukaima. I was doing so well marathoning it, too! But alas, things beyond my control came my way and I finished it in [censored].

Anyway, let me digress to the matter at hand! When I started watching the first episode, I immediately thought, “A Harry Potter clone?

    I liked ZnT, it’s a fun little romp. The plot dragged a bit at the start, but it started getting cool when the connection between the two worlds was revealed.

    All the minor characters sucked. 4 side-characters who each control one of the four elements? What’s this, a team of Pokemons?

    Lupus: ROFL at Pokemons xD But yeah almost all the minor characters weren’t very appealing >_>;

    You should really check out the novels. ^^; The storyline is… epic. It may surprise you, but the comedy is not really the focus of the novels. Drama and epic adventure is more suiting in describing it. Heroes will rise AND fall in the ZnT novels. The school is merely the beginning. War( and the pathos associated with it) is the real meat of the story.

    Oh, and Seista( is Love) is ^10x more aggressive in the novels. REALLY, REALLY more aggressive. ^^;

    Cheers.

    Skane: Yeah I actually got drawn to the plot so much that I decided to check out the novels. I’m not really making any progress yet though n__n;;;

    I belong to the party of those for whom Siesta made it all worthwhile. It’s not that a small party either, and a diverse one too. I adore her personality, others are falling for the melonpan. Of course, we unite to resent the railroading plot, but alas it’s a given.

    I would not want a second season, because antics were not important for me. The story has been told; everything beyond is milking.

    The novels continue much further… and are a lot more interesting. If you are into the entire relationship thing, the connection between Saito and Louise is much more colorful in the novels than in the anime. :P

    And I’ve told you before, but Happy Birthdays Aezzie.

    I liked ZnT, there’s a second season rumored for this fall, and I’m definitely looking forward it. Louise isn’t about to displace Lafiel as my favorite tsundere, but the Louise-Saito relationship was a lot of fun to watch. Louise could be annoying at times, but knowing deep down she was insecure thanks to being picked on as a “zero” at magic her whole life made her character much more sympathetic for me. Tabitha seemed to be the only side character with an interesting background, but maybe we’ll see more in the second season. And I had the same thought after the first episode, that scene with everyone with their wands out in the courtyard could have been lifted straight out of Harry Potter…

    pardon me, i dont want to be a troll but this anime sucked harder than a 2 dollar crack cocaine whore… no story, horrible cliche characters, and a total bitch for a main character. how people can love animes where the main character is supremely annoying (that includes u haruhi) is beyond me.

    oh gosh, I actually liked ZnT, the story dragged on for a little while but I really like the same voices of Shakugan no Shana, they’re a nice match. =]
    anyways ..

    Happy Birthday Aezie!

    actually, I remember that I am one of the few that liked Louise (hell, i like shana so I am a tsundere fan). This show does not really like much of a super complicated plot but compensates with well execution as well as decent comedy from everyone.

    It’s not for everyone but I guess for Kauldron26, different people have different tastes. It’s like how some people tell me how good a certain show is, I went over to watch and think.

    “…meh, not nice”.

    Same here ^+^

    Thanks for all the greetings n____n

    Anyway, on to replies O:

    suguru: Yeah Louise’s annoyance became more tolerable after that ep when she cried about being teased. ;o;

    Kauldron26: To each his own n_n I respect your ideas~

    Moko: Yeah story was slow in the first few eps since it was an episodic approach, but it got interesting thank goodness =D

    Haha! I stumbled upon this anime during a random search. It got me really ragin’, burnin’, and blazin’ while watching! Not to mention my Burning Rolling Laugh! (that is: ROFL-ing on the floor burning myself!)
