Note: For all, T.H.A.T Anime Blog (well, all ab.net blogs) is down due to some server problems yesterday and the day before. Hopefully, it is safe now…and you can enjoy the content without any problems!
Signed, Impz

Well, I have my first set of series that I felt was going to be my top 5 in terms of blogging. However, any normal, rational and completely sane anime fan/blogger/ranter/commentor (which is by the way, usually non-existent in this cruel world) will have a contingency plan in which to find something else to blog. Hence, I have picked out four other series that I bet will be surprising me enough, but simply have too little information or too little impact currently to be in my top 5.
They are the dark horses of Impz’s predictions. Don’t be too surprised if Impz eventually ends up blogging these four series.
Darker than Black

Ooh all of these look good.
I read about Darker than Dark in Newtype, they were calling it something like the next FullMetal Alchemist, a show I absolutely LOVED. So I’ll definetely be giving this one a go.
The other three I haven’t heard too much about but they look interesting. And given my love of shoujou type stuff, I’ll probably really enjoy lovely complex, so I think if someone starts to sub that I’ll give that a go to.
I hope you do decide to blog some of these Impz, particularly Darker than Dark, I look forward to it!
Correction, Darker than Black, forgive my stupid brain I just woke up.
i am interested in lovely complex 8D
i think there’s a manga series on it. hehehe.
To be honest, practically all of these are on my list. xD
I swear I’m going to have to make a top 15 list instead of a top 10 though….
No comedy? Shock! I think this season my be strong in that aspect. If only you could increase your scope! :3
Both Claymore and Lovely Complex have very strong manga origins, so I’m actually expecting a lot out of them. Even though I haven’t read Claymore myself I’ve heard too much good things about it to just ignore it.
I enjoyed reading the Lovely Complex manga, so I’m definitely going to check that out.
And I hate anything that fucks with a classic that I love. Saiyuki can go fuck itself and I’m expecting Koutetsu Sangokushi to get the same reaction from me.
@DJ: Hah! I guess the dark horses do intrigue me quite a bit, but I do worry with Darker than Black. The fact is that I realize that if it focused too much on action (as stated), it will be going to a domain that I am lost. So, the reservation for it.
@Joo: Hah, I initially had no interest in it until psgels’ spring season review. Found that I actually like the whole idea and added it in on the last minute. Shoujo is at least a genre that I found myself being able to write (bokura ga ita).
@Leon: Top 15? @_@ i have enough. top 5 + 4 dark horse is more than enough. I doubt i will do more than 3 series. Hopefully, my other co bloggers will be keen on grabbing a few that i have pointed out.
@TheBigN: Hah, comedy is my weakest genre to blog about. I will always go like ermm…what to write for impressions. Comedy is just something I like to watch, but i can’t blog it for nuts. Yet another reason for me to find another author ^^
@Lupus: Oh, it does? I know Claymore has a very manga origin but Lovely complex, i didn’t know. In that case, it might even be in the top 5, replacing El…No clue though ^+^
Koutetsu Sangokushi’s animation’s done by Picture Magic? We’re screwed. They did that steaming pile of crap animation known as Soul Link, of which the animation quality is comparable to Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro Na, or Cabbage Love, if you want. ^^;
Claymore is just pure action. Most of the pages in the manga depict action and little story progression. And it’s gory, but not at Berserk level (at least that’s what I heard). I’m not going to watch this.
Lovely Complex has a manga origin, one that my RL friends especially likes so much, though I have yet to discover why.
Koutetsu Sangokushi does sound interesting. Wonder how they put mecha in a situation like that, but the depiction of Wu as the protagonist’s origin is a refreshing break.
I watched the trailer of Darker Than Black, it reminds me a lot of Stand Alone Complex except the music is soooo Cowboy Bebop. Also the police detective Kirihara looks a lot like Nanao from Bleach.
Seeing that the creator/director is the same guy who did Wolf’s Rain, I have an ominous feeling about this anime…
@Lupus, thanks for the information I will have to try and track those down in manga form.
@Impz, well hopefully there will be enough of a story to keep you interested.
@alkanphel, maybe he’ll be less traumatic to us this time round… yea…
I would like to watch love complex, still curious where is it that you guys download these series… please let me know!
I’m definitely interested in Darker than Black, since it looks like it has that psychological feel to it. Love Complex looks decent, but it seems like one of the shows I would watch after it was done airing.
Darker than Black is BONES’s chance to redeem themselves after Ayashiki Ayashi’s rather mediocre performance. Lets hope BONES can rise to the challenge.
@Impz: Well, out of that 15 I’m only sure of blogging about 4-5 of them. The rest is just for normal watching. xD
Blog Lovely Complex!
It’s really funny and cute and the manga ROCKS.
Theres a Lovely Complex live action movie as well
Girls + Swords = Will be watching this.
Just looking at the screencaps, I know I’m the most interested in Claymore. I love the poster and the character design. I think I’ll go for it for at least a couple of episodes. Who knows, maybe if the gore is at the Elfen Lied level, the depth can also hit that level as well.
Darker the Black is… hmmm…. I don’t know, possible. I’m not very enthralled by the poster/screencap, but hey, I prefer some action in my animes, together with some depth, so maybe… And the trailer on Youtube looks pretty good.
Regarding Koutetsu Sangokushi… if I can accept Romeo and Juliet with mecha, I suppose Sangokushi with machinery is not too far-fetch. Although I admit the thought of Lu Xun as hero intrigues me… He is one of those scholar + warrior characters, with expertise in military strategy. I admit, if the hero is Zhou Yu I’ll probably watch it immediately. *blushes* Lu Xun… well it’s better than the same old, same old.
For Love Complex, is it my imagination, or does the female lead looks a bit like Nana? Anyway, it’s not really the type of genre I watch, but it does look interesting at first glance.
well let me just say tht um really interested in darker than black, it seems to be really interesting, and i thnk tht um gonna love lovely*complex, it’s drawing reminded me of an anime i saw wn i was a little girl i thnk it’s name was rassana or somethin like tht
for me another dark horse (for the English fandom at least) would be Ookiku Furikabutte also coming out this April.
the manga of this spring anime is a big success in Japan, as well as critically acclaimed. dunno how the “outside world” thinks, tho.
i for one will be monitoring this, and hoping someone subs it.
From what I have heard from many, it seems that Love complex is in fact a big hit back in Japan. If a shoujo series has a strong cult following back there, it is screaming out “HELL YES TO BLOG” for me at the very least. I will be definitely looking at that series very closely.
I have not heard much about Koutetsu Sangokushi and I wonder if it’s the sign of something. In fact, I have heard from someone that Picture Magic did the wonderfully graphical genius in Soul Link. I am disturbed. VERY DISTURBED.
@Bijou: Thanks for the comments and for Ookiku Furikabutte, a sports baseball anime is going to be interesting, but I wonder what it means, Bijou. I have not heard much from it though and it seems that it has not hit foreign shores as yet.
@Laboosh: I see, actually, if i am forced to pick a favorite among the dark horses, it will be a tough fight between Darker than black (just for the cowboy bebop’s music producer) and lovely complex for shoujo loveliness
@Briar: Claymore somehow rubs me in a very queer way. On one hand, i know the action is going to be great. Yet, for blogging sense, it will be a total pain in the *censored*. I don’t know what to decipher for it.
@Totali: I will guess so for shoujo series. You generally will want to follow it after the series has ended because it’s hell annoying to wait too long for one episode. I felt it for bokura ga ita. On a sidenote, I love the splash graphics of your front page
@Mazza: A live action movie? Wow, this must be good stuff for a live action to come out. Really a dark horse to watch.
I feel ignored
…. Oh by the way, I found on youtube lovely complex (written like this), but with real human flesh people (japanese of course)… and yes, a tall girl and a short guy, except is not animation.
I go for Koutetsu Sangokushi because I have a hunch that this might have a good plot story like in SaiMono, except for good looking bishies, but we’ll see. ^^
I’m also all for Lovely Complex as it is one of the series I’ll definitely be following. But I don’t think this series will fit your style of blogging, but again, we’ll see. ^^
I’ll pick Lovely complex and Darker than Black. Well, I totally love the manga, it’s just as funny and interesting as Koukou Debut, in my opinion. I have the live-action version of this manga now and will start to watch as soon as I have free time.
Pick Darker than Black purely for the music!!!!
The character design in Claymore really draws my attention but I haven’t read the manga yet so I’m not quite sure. Fighting series are not my cup of tea after all. But I might check out at least 2 eps.
ROTK with machines ??? Urgh…, the idea puts me off instantly!
@Aime: aww, didn’t mean to ignore you but I also addressed the same thing. Actually, the correct name for the show is lovely complex, so it’s a little mistake by me actually. Ya, there seems to be a live action movie, and I will be curious.
@13sugars: I don’t know really about Sangokushi after knowing about the animation company (Soul link) and then the production company that does ….young kid series. The graphics is definitely non-childish in nature but I don’t know. The more I hear, the more I force myself not to in order to stay objective.
@Fuuka: Hmmm , similar choices here, as fighting series are generally not my cup of tea, unless there’s a more serious plot within and the focus is not about fighting. Your two picks will be similar to me, and I did not read the manga yet. If it’s as funny as koukou debut, it must be good stuff ^+^
@Impz: I was talking about the place where I could get this series from.. I asked before if anyone could tell me if there is a place to download any of this or do i have to buy it somewhere? any info will be greatly appreciated.Thx.
did you check out morobito? It’s made by a lot of the team that did blood+ ^_^ i’m anticipating it. As for other shows, i’m rooting for darker then black and claymore.
@Aime: I see, it’s not even out as yet, rofl! It’s a preview, not a review.
@XDXD: I did. In fact, it’s in my top 5 list and in the 3rd ranked anime. It’s very likely that I will blog that series. Yes, i will.
