UFO Princess Valkyrie, also known as UFO Princess Walküre, is a series from 2002. Mostly comedy, it’s a variety of magical girl and science fiction. The series starts out in an unusual style that had me double checking if I was at the right spot. It portrays a typical day for Kazuto Tokino and then uses that as a lead in for the main plot of the series.
I can’t think of many other series that have done this, but in this case it asks a few of questions that take a while to be answered. Mainly, who the hell is that little girl that turns into this gorgeous looking woman when she kisses Kazuto? It’s just the sort of thing you’d expect from an anime.

It really is comedy, the usual gag for this series consists of the innocent Walküre saying things that can be interpreted in multiple ways, usually not so innocently. Rather than pure slapstick humor, some bits you have to think about. Drama gradually builds towards the end of the series as Walküre disappears and the what has become usual lifestyle of Kazuto is no more.
Everyone has a challenge that they must overcome in order to be a better person, the usual again from a semi-slice-of-life anime. Something that does stick out is the army of cat-eared maids that are at the back and call of the chief maid. One of the best episodes of the series could be considered the side story one in which all the maids go on a hot springs trip, and the perspective of a few select maids is shown.
The sound, is pretty good, no obvious problems there, and I liked the opening theme. The animation quality is about on par for the era. What action there was was smooth, and there were hardly any of my pet peeve scenes, in which you just see people’s heads bouncing up and down as they “walk

They pretty much didnt really bother showing it from the begining and decided, “lets just start somewhere a bit after and have it as a flashback to explain what happened to set everything up”.
Since u finished watching the first season, i recommend u watch the second season, i liked it better than the first since there seemed to actually be a story.
siiiigh as always (for the past day that i began commenting XD) I don’t have anything insightful to say, cuz I haven’t seen it >_
uuugh why does it keep cutting short my comments?…ahem, as I was saying: is it a comedy that embraces ‘magical girl’ or makes a parody of it?
Didn’t watch many episodes of this, but it has its moments. With the right situation, I wouldn’t mind watching this again. In regards of surrounding, I mean.
Was this review fron DVD, or TV, English or Japanese version?
I enjoyed this for the comedy. Some of the background aliens are hilarious.
I found the magical girl theme was a bit tedious. It was about 40 seconds for Valkyrie’s transformation scenes – at least when Hydra transforms she is quick about it
.
Not sure if this qualifies as a spoiler, but just in case.
The first series made some sense, but with the second series the premise is gone for Hydra to remain with her seal, or even on Earth.
There are enough secondary characters for the show to shift focus and keep it interesting.
The Cat Maid outing, (to the beach, not hot springs – sorry) was quite good.
The downside of this is the show can become a bit disjointed, but it’s a bit hard to progress the main theme of the show since the “romantic” protaganists can’t do much else as they are.
It’s pretty standard anime fare for a character/situation to appear and then the story behind it to be slowly revealed throughout the series.
ROLF, seems your spoiler tags don’t work.
Ufo princess valkyrie is my favorite! I love you sanada.
