Interpreting Yuki Nagato's "Untitled"

In The Indignation of Haruhi Suzumiya, the 8th volume of the Haruhi novels, is a story called ‘Editor in Chief★Straight Ahead!’. The story revolves around the SOS-dan publishing a magazine for the literature club, for a reason that I won’t disclose here, and Yuki was given the task of writing some ‘fantasy horror’. What she produced were a number of cryptic short stories that stumped not only Haruhi, but even Kyon. For once Kyon’s insight isn’t as clear as a trap’s true gender, so the task of interpreting them and coming up with crackpot theories has been left to yours truly.

This post could be quite spoilerific, read at your own risk. If you haven’t read the novels, I really don’t advice you read this post.

With that out of the way, let’s get the show on the road.

hmm, i agree pretty much with your interpretation of the first two, as for the last one my only thought was that Yuki finally tried to write an actual horror-fantasy. It actually reminds me of a story by Vandermeer about the death of a great composer in the mythical city of Ambergris called “The transformation of Martin Lake.

My own interpretation of the piece. A lot of discussion was generated due to this part of the novel.

    Cheers.
