What if Charlie Brown became an anime?

These pictures are somewhat old, maybe over a year or so but I thought that some people might still not have seen them so here they are! Some fanartist’s interpretation of how the Charlie Brown comic strip characters would look like if they were in an anime. Whether or not you approve of them, is a matter of personal taste.

    >I think if there was an anime it would turn into some high-school harem style anime

Not forgetting the siscon potential. XD Now they just need to watch in some plot for charlie and Sally to be non-blood related…

I kind of want to know what Snoopy would look like.

But going by animal mascot trends, I also kind of don’t want to know.

The only nitpick I have is with Charlie Brown. ^^; A little too bad-ass looking (I somehow keep expecting him to start screaming out, “BANKAI!”). ^^; Still, I can totally imagine Lucy tormenting Charlie Brown, anime-style.

    Cheers.

  10. Posted April 13, 2007 at 8:09 am | Permalink

This is pretty cool, but the characters seem to be more like “Peanuts Grown Up” rather than a strict translation. Would expect to see something more like the Lucky Star treatment if they were trying to stay true to the spirit of the comedy…

NOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!!!! Leave the Peanut gang the way they are!!! Snoopy is cool just the way he is, right now!

“The only nitpick I have is with Charlie Brown. ^^; A little too bad-ass looking”

Pretty much my opinion here. This seems like the antithesis to what Charlie was all about. But it isn’t such a bad thing for change to occur. :P

    now that’s COOL! =D

you also have Simpsons in Anime? XD

    =)

  23. Posted April 13, 2007 at 6:38 pm | Permalink

I did see some of these images a while back and while this is awesome as a whole, this is more like the teenage/college feel, not a total change. Chuck feels too “edgy” as it was mentioned earlier. Oh and uh, where are Snoopy and Woodstock?

Side notes: of course, if this were to happen, Hayashibara Megumi-san would be back as Marcy. Of course, I’m a nostalgic person and I’m used to the old style. Too bad the author passed away.

ewww nonononono on my part. Charlie Brown was part of my childhood and if it were ever turned into an anime like what the drawings depict, it would sorta be like what Streamline did to the Miyazaki films.

lol Sorry to sound like a total nerd, I know it’s not really going to happen I’m only saying what my personal opinion would be if the series ever did turn into something like that. Stand alone the drawings are cool and pretty funny.

  25. Posted April 14, 2007 at 5:28 pm | Permalink

Exactly. “Peanuts” was part of my childhood too and I can’t ever picture any studio trying to revive the series. Then again, Japan did make that “Turtles” OVA series and that was actually cool, though I still prefer the o~ld series. (Sawaki-chan!)

Oh man that just drove me up the wall :D

Haven’t seen an anime “conversion” in quite a while (not since Marvel Mangaverse and PPGZ, official or fan made).

Charlie looks way too much like one of those Shaolin Temple warriors (or perhaps a younger version of that Mr. Clean guy). Lucy on the other hand is a hottie.

wooo I hadn’t seen these before hehe the drawings are great…and since i’m not so entirely attached to the original, I can totally see it (just maybe Charlie a bit toned down)

Excellent renditions of the Peanuts gang! Pigpen in particular is great. To my mind, this should be titled, “Eventually They All Grew Up”! I especially liked the dialogue you gave to Snoopy’s kids vis-a-vis Frieda. Great work!

I grew up with Peanuts. I loved Peanuts. However, I also happen to be a MAJOR anime fan.

If this never gets turned into an anime, please, PLEASE someone hear my prayer and make this a manga or a dōjinshi. BTW, as someone who grew up watching the travails of Charlie Brown, it’s nice to see him come into his own :D Very Billy Corgan-esque :D

And I like the rough sketch of Snoopy, would like to see that fleshed out a bit. I’ve seen this before, but it’s still awesome. Thanks for sharing!

OMFG! They look awesome, but I hope that when it really happens, it will stay true to the ‘anime’ prophecy. That they will be voice by Japanese voice actors/actresses. Your anime rendition of Charlie Brown really made my day. Thank you!!

Wow. That’s really good! Concept art looks awesome! Now if only we got to see Snoopy too… along with woodstock on top of his doghouse. HAHA! I loved Charlie Brown’s first design. He’s reminds me of Ikkaku from Bleach. And Beethoven looking like a bad ass cracked me up too.

Wow. That would be AWESOMELY hilarious. Schroeder’s my favorite character, and you made him look freakin’ cool. Sally kind of looks like a power puff, though, heh. It was cool to see Rerun, too, I’d nearly forgotten about him.

    And again, Schroeder’s awesome.
Although, if it were anime-ified, it’d be kind of hard to keep the same look at life Shultz’s character had, wouldn’t it?
