Bandwagon Time! – Summer Sorta-but-not-really-Previews

Here’s the obligatory Tsuruya image

I’m only really looking forward to the finale of Code Geass. Will we finally be introduced to V.V.? Will Mao and Euphemia resurrect by grace of god (ex machina)? Will C.C. have an illegitimate child with Cheese-kun? Will Lulu finally tap that sweet ass (of C.C. or Suzaku depending on your preference)? Will ANY of these questions be answered? How much can Sunrise fuck with the plot this time?* I’m sure whatever the answers to those questions, these will be two of the most entertaining episodes in the Summer season.

*I’m of the opinion that Zegapain is only as great as it is because Sunrise wasn’t forced/induced by fans to fuck with the plot. If it had the same popularity as the Mai-franchise, the last 3 episodes would’ve been Mai Yu in a nurse outfit, Kaminagi in a cat meido outfit, and Lu Shen in a g-string piloting Zegapains modded with giant samurai swords and drills, battling 10,000 clones of Abyss and Sin in 20,000 Anti-zegas. Kyo would die in a self-destruct sequence but at the last moment he would resurrect and… sorry I just can’t do this. Nothing I write can rival Sunrise level plot fuck-uppery.

The second season of Zero no Tsukaima also holds some promise. This promotional image says it all. It’s all in the loli-tsundere fan service, not the comedy, not the characters, not the mystery of the twin world and most definitely not the fun-filled sword swinging, magic wielding adventure.

I’ve read a few chapters of the Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho manga, which is about a male manager in a female swimming club, and looks to be a set up for some harem comedy. It’s also got something about “Full nudity” in the title. The logic centre in my brain is on full throttle, trying to weigh harem again full nudity.

Doujin Work is another 4koma adaptation… filled with lolis. How well will THIS one work?

Finally, the artwork for Baccano and Mushi-Uta look nice, and I might start on the new Tokyo Majin Gakuen when I find time to finish the last season. A lot of people are raving about School Days as well, so that might be worth a look.

I don’t know whether this list will be adhered to or not in another two weeks’ time. I hardly watch any of the shows I thought I would last season, and most of the shows that I’m following I didn’t plan to watch more than a few episodes of. Maybe remaining blissfully ignorant and just watching them as they come would be the best option.

If I’m not mistaken, there’s gonna be a second season of Code Geass. That being said… a lot of questions may be left to be answered in season 2. It’s hard to imagine everything getting resolved in the last two episodes… unless they’re gonna be longer that the standard 20ish minute episodes. However, I’m still really looking forward to watching episodes 24 and 25… I still haven’t got over my Code Geass withdrawl. @_@

Summer season is such a boring one when compared to spring. I really aren’t enthusiastic at all. Nothing that I’ve GOT to watch, and very few that I’m actually interested in.

At least some of the spring seasons aren’t ending yet.

Hmm, I am actually wondering about the second season of Haruhi, which I thought will be in Fall 2007. However, I have no confirmation of the information. I guess I am not the only person who is somewhat disappointed at the offering of Summer, though it is not really surprising considering that we have a huge amount of series that are great in the spring season. They have to allow the closing of the spring season, I presume.

To add, Code Geass having a second season isn’t anything big for me, considering that the appearance of C.C is not a good enough reason for me to watch it. To add too, Zombie loan seems to be a really interesting series considering the seiyuus that are going to be on. Baccano is still a while away though =3

“I guess I am not the only person who is somewhat disappointed at the offering of Summer”

Put my name on that list – the programming schedule this year isn’t one for the record books. All the same, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a possible hit.

Looking forward to Haruhi 2 as well, although since there’s no word on when that might happen (if it ever will) I suppose the novels will have to do.

Blast, I forgot to put in a nice word about that lovely Tsuruya portrait. Give me her over the Mona Lisa any day. (Or better yet, give me both so that I could sell off the Mona Lisa and buy even more pictures of LOL Fang-tan.)

Lupus: Doujin Work will work. Because it’s by the guy that brought you A CAT IS FINE TOO.
