First, an announcement for an ab.net blogger!
Bj0rn is having a karoake competition, with decent prizes and gifts for the winners. If you think you can sing well or sing really terribly ( I am sure he can have a reward for both types), head over to his site and get the details there!
Saiunkoku Monogatari Review

As the episode ended on the meeting of Ryuuki and Riou, the sword was glowing with a red light. With the revelation last week that the Hyou clan was behind the activities of the cult, are they going to fight or are they going to deal with politics within the clans? Shuurei and Ensei are also on the way to Seikang, in order to stop the cult forever and to question their intentions. Shuurei is their target and might be walking right into their trap.

hey where do you watch this series from? online or on tv? if it’s on tv can you tell me which channel it is? and does it have subs? i can do without the subs but when they speak really fast the japanese gets to me and i’ll be blur for the rest of the episode.
Hi!
Again a wonderful summary super fast!
And again I’m currently waiting to find the episode.
Just to let you know, I’m collecting you work, just to retake it when i want, and even if the anime is subbed i continue to read it.. so god work! ^.~
I hope one day someone translate the novel too, but I know is a very loon work, so I don’t believe it -.-
And obviously thank you very much again..
wow, that was really fast! thanks for the summary, it helped ALOT in understanding the raw. i was actually bawling when i was watching eigetsu and kourin together! thank you sooo much and i hope that seiran will get some more air time the next episodes!
@Guinnut: they do talk quite a bit, and to find out, do check your sources. We have a disclaimer above your comment. ^_^
@Flaw: Arr, no problem at all. I am glad that you enjoy the summary because it is perhaps my last before i fly off for my vacation. Hahh, i guess that is good too. Do discuss when you have the chance to!
@Ann: Cool! It is such a sweet scene, yes? I have been watching it for 14 times (last count was 11) because when he goes like “Kourin, it’s really you”, my heart just softened. It’s so sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! arghhhhh! KOURIN X EIGETSU FOREVER!!!
Hi,
Thank you so much for your summary. I have been reading them since the first season came out, and I just love it. Thanks again and have a great trip!
Just when I was getting into the story, with the tension mounting and the scene with Kourin and Eigetsu unfolding sweetly before me it finishes!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO! I crave more information! Man I love this anime.
I agree that Ryuuki doesn’t seem to be doing much, but I guess its one of the pitfalls of his currently being the Emperor – there are some things he can’t do. Things are slowly piecing together and it just makes me want more
*Cries*
I want to see this episode so bad.
I want to see the cuteness. Although I did get to read more Love*Com today and it was so cute my squee hurt hubby’s ears! ^-^
Hmm. Maybe Ryuuki isn’t trying so hard because he is trusting in Ensei and Seiran to keep Shuurei safe.
I think Ryuuki’s reaction is a sign of keeping back his strength in preparation of retaliation. The fact is, there is nothing Ryuuki can do against Riou at that moment. He could attack Riou with Bakuya, but knowing now that Bakuya is made by the Hyou clan, would that be logical? He could call on the guards, but then that would be like calling them out to get slaughtered and/or making a fool of himself because then it would be a loss of “face”. He could simply attack Riou with his bare hands, but seeing as how Riou is mystically powerful and Ryuuki is just a normal person (albeit an emperor… and a wonderfully beautiful emperor at that). Riou could simply disappear.
The only statement Ryuuki can make here is to maintain his equanimity and try to unsettle Riou (hence the politeness and the offer for tea) with a show of utter calm and/or superiority. Since he couldn’t do anything to Riou, he then decides to keep in his aggressiveness and strength for the future, and instead get Riou to talk more about his motives.
It’s not just Seiran who is maturing; Ryuuki does the same.
Anyway. Back to Kourin and Eigetsu. I totally agree with the sweetness of it. They are both so young, but that youth just makes it all the more pure. It’s hard to remember that Kourin used to use this “baka” method to poison Shuurei once; her actions now are intelligent and well thought out. And now that she is back together with smart, mature Eigetsu, I think they can definitely work through this.
Little Riou reminds me so much of Seiran in looks. It’s interesting that apparently his name in kanji is written the same way as Big Riou. I highly doubt that they are father and son, though. In Chinese culture at least there isn’t any habit of naming the kid after the father in the exact same way (none of those Bush Junior or Washington III stuff). Which makes me think that maybe Little Riou is actually the same being as Big Riou, except maybe they are seperated somewhat. Or maybe Little Riou was “made” by magic by Big Riou. He could be a spirit like Yougetsu possessing a body. *shrug* Just randomly throwing out ideas.
Really, really, really looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks for the summary. Oh the tension! I think Seiran is attempting to find a way to go against the Hyou clan. It was Seiran who was the one really upset and pushing for Ryuuki to do something about Riou. When he and Shouka were talking in one of their nice “father/son” moments didn’t it come out that there was still something he could do to help Shuurei? It was vague, but I think it probably relates to the Hyou. He may know much more than Shuurei does about the clan and who Shuurei’s mother and father were. Shouka probably won’t be idle about this either.
Yay! Ryuuren and Seiran are back!! Although neither did much but im wondering what Ryuuren wanted to say, when he said “I…Eigetsu”. He looked weird without his usual display (if that makes sense). I agree that Ryuuki couldnt do anything against Riou so it was clever and mature of him to just psych him out.
Little Riou did say that it wasnt “his name”. Does it mean something special? mmmm. I am eagerly awaiting the next ep ad i will be away soon after that was well, such sad thoughts. It looks like they are going on the offensive next episode, thats the impression i got from the preview an the title (which literally means, you need to go into a tiger cave to get a tiger cub – so need to risk your life to get something precious)
Last but not least, I want to know what happens to that sweet scene where Eigetsu and Kourin meet. Where will their fate lie?…
Ahh I finally got to see the episode.
Now I am happy ^-^
@ kurixkuri: I totally thought when Ryuuren appears that it was Ryuuki! They look so alike when in dark lighting and sans Ryuuren’s eccentric costume.
@Briar, It doesn’t hurt that Ryuuren is just as pretty to look at as Ryuuki! ^-^
Yeah, but Ryuuki is so much cuter.
@Briar & D.J.: True they do look alike, its the hair i figure, and anyway im very bad @ differentiating characters, they all look very similar to me. I guess its the air and clothes that make the characters.
Thank you so much it’s really nice to know what is going on. I feel like I’m not in a rush to actually watch the anime. Just keeping up on the reading is good enough for me….
Another summary well done!
Ryuuren is such a touching friend. I hope there’s somebody like him out here, eh? Gosh!! What will happen next?! Does anybody know when’s the airing of the next episode? Sheesh..
I just finished watching the episode. Eigetsu and Kourin— such a kawaii couple! I can’t wait for the ending of this phase!!
“Another interesting thing is how much Ryuuren cares for his friends. Despite his eccentric behavior, he rushed all the way without caring much about his own fitness. It is apparent he is completely drained out, and probably rushing his way all the time in order to reach Eigetsu in time to save him. His endurance is something that amazed me once again. He is but human, who will be drained if they travel without rest at all. Yet he loved his two friends too much to leave them be. I bet he sold his clothes and flashy things in order to raise money to reach them.”
gah that was meant to be a spoiler…..i typed in the tags but they weren’t working?
let me test again…U_U
spoiler here
About Ryuuki and Riou…
I think very often as a ruler, there are many things that as much as you would like to do, it is not appropriate to do so and coming into direct conflict with Riou is one of them.
No wise ruler rushes into a confilict with a powerful opponent without being forced to or having a great chance of winning. I’m quite sure though Ryuuki is very very wary of Riou’s actions and is keeping a close watch on them…
Thanks for the summary though is Riou the Hyou’s leader with the white, silky hair and red pedals surrounding him? Sorry I have nvr heard of his name, so im just assuming Riou is his name? Though both of their swords glowed with a red light, does tht symbolize sumthing bigger?? Whats the reason for Ryou’s visit to Ryuuki? O_O. Ohh is there a particular reason why Riou is present and after Shuurei?
