Operation Suitability: Summer 2007 Anime Series Minefield

suitabilityposter.jpg

Impz was bugging me about picking out series that marginally interests me, so without further ado and after having all the hard work already done for me here is a most modest list of series that I will look into. Special thanks to Hung of BasuGasuBakahatsu and Omni of Random Curiosity for doing most of the hard work and research for lazy bastards like me. Every new season is like a minefield, disappointment at almost every step but a clear path once the lemming like rush of otakus clears the field Soviet style.

Nanatsurio Drops

All I know about this is show is something about having magical girls and a guy that turns into a stuffed animal. Hopefully this won’t be too much like Nanoha, not that that is necessarily a bad thing. Sounds like typical shoujo fare so why the hell not…

School Days

schooldays.jpg

While I often consider harem series to be the rabble and trailer trash of otakudom, something did peak my curiosity about this one. Namely blood and gory endings of a morbid nature. If it turns out to be typical harem fare I will maki maki all who contributed the creation of the anime. Crusader wants to see the blood of the doormats and haremettes be spilled by the bucket load and gore upon the pavement! One person will have to bite the dust at least, if the whole cast dies so much the better. Harem endings will not be tolerated, good endings will not be tolerated only the “bad” endings will suffice. These are but modest demands if I say so myself. The bad endings posted in the wiki sound deliciously good. I am more giddy about this than South Koreans are for Starcraft 2, well maybe not as much but pretty close…

Code E

This one is in a gray area right now. Though if some of these other series fail me then its up to one meganekko to save the day. Its billeted as a romantic comedy so it can’t end up being that bad…

The gist is something about meteors and electrical powers, heh no points already for creativity.

Moetan

This series oozes of cuteness and having a bit of Engrish fun is an interesting proposal. I suppose it cannot possibly fail me, so I claim this one Impz be damned.

Zero no Tsukiama II

a7451-21.jpg

While that pink haired loli-thing annoys me it has Seista. If the first season was any indication this will be so God awful that it will be great. More cringe worthy moments and crappy foreshadowing, who can say no to such a hideous combination? Well, I for one apparently…

Mononoke

mononoke-main.jpg

While the first two arcs of Ayakashi Horror were rather curious and not terribly memorable the third arc kicked ass and took names. The premise is that this demon hunter guy can only kill his opponents once he knows their history of why they are there and their true forms. If the Bakenekko arc was any indication this one looks to be my shining beacon this season. Since the dude moonlights as a pharmacist I am giving this one bonus points.

Doujin Work and Bancco! have been claimed by overlord Impz though if he drops for even a second I’ll be there to usurp it from his throne room. Other than that it will be interesting which ones live up or blow my leg off…

    Again, I’ve got to say this season seems dull by contrast. To many harem and mahou shoujo and hacking-bashing. About only thing that looks interesting is Mononoke, which unfortunately isn’t a genre that I particularly like.

    Still. Your mention of blood with School Days has roused my curiosity and even interest. That may be worth watching after all.

    ~_~;;; Moe-tan will be blogged. I am disturbed by that very notion. Well, I might just annoy by doing random posts on it when Crusader does. Heh heh heh ^+^.

    I am still not attracted to School Days still even after knowing about the tragic ends. It just doesn’t scream to me as an appealing series.

    Good day comrade mascot. While it may seem dull if they stay true to those bad endings School Days will be well worth it for a blood thirsty guy like me. At the very least most of these series seem to be much more laid back. As summer is usually a laid back time for eternal students like me I don’t particularly mind. Besides I have to finish a couple of adventure games namely Longest Journey and Dreamfall.

    @Impz
    Gee boss I thought that you were a bona fide loli-con. Oh wait you are… stop feigning apprehension and start your kiyaaa kawaii~desus! Moe-tan is edutainment not a Loli H. As for School Days its not for those who hate both harem and blood. I like blood more than I hate harem so yay for me. ;)

    I’m watching Zero no Tsukaima 2, i’m curious about it

    Mononoke seems kind of interesting…

    Also, if school days were to get gory i’d like to see that, but if the series hits the end and no blood is shown i’m gonna bite someone.

    P.S.: Dull season is duuuull

    The main female lead in Moe-tan is voiced by Yukari Tamura.

    DEFINITELY WATCHING IT.

    Hmm I like my horror and my blood and gore, not to mention spooky stuff so School Days and Mononoke look like the ones to check out for me then. ^-^

    O_O…Weeeee, I look forward to Dkellis’s entry on having the hugest nose bleeding ever in history. I like horror too, but if you like spooky stuff, Higurashi time!!!

    ZnT will be something I will quietly watch and not talk about, hehe.

    I am praying to the posers that be that blood and gore shall bound for School Days. I hope you won’t bite me but rather help me gather more doormats and shove them into the sacrificial pit.

    As for Zero no Tsukaima 2 Siesta is pretty much my only reason.

    @DKellis
    Its too cute to pass up Impz says he’ll avoid it, however the power of loli- shall compel him.

    Look forward to it comrade.

    @D.J
    Yay! another helper to force doormats into the pit for more blood.

    As for Monononke I recommend taking a look at the last four eps of Ayakashi Horror for a taste of what is to come it you like bite other wise stay if your curios or leave it be.

    @Impz
    See the power of Loli-Loser mage Louise compels you!

    “however the power of loli- shall compel him.”

    LOL that was awesome.

    I will happily help force doormats into the pit for more blood ^-^

    Its funny you should mention Ayakashi since its on my netflix queue, but since you talked about it I bumped it up the queue ^-^
