… or ‘Gurren Lagann 17, with a lot of diversions and rambling’. Some people like turning their minds to pertinent issues; I prefer to spend my time pondering useless questions.
A grown up Nia is fine
Through out the course of Gurren Lagann, we have seen and known 4 major characters who stand in a leadership role – Kamina and Lord Genome, Simon and Rossiu. They’ve all shown different methods and characteristics of leadership, and it’s interesting to note the differences between them – especially as the conflict between Simon’s and Rossiu’s ideals and methods come to a clash in the coming episodes.
Leaving out Kamina and Lord Genome, would Simon or Rossiu make the better leader? Reading some of the other blogs, it seems people preceive Rossiu as ‘an asshole‘ or in an antagonistic light. What I see is Rossiu doing a better job at being a leader than Simon, though his actions are questionable from a moral stand point. In a medium where idealistic values such as love and compassion are touted as indefeasible, I find it easy to forget that those values are lacking in real life, and often get in the ways of getting things done. If I sound like a cynic it’s because I am one, and you can’t deny that some amoral actions can have beneficial consequences in the long run.*
