D.Gray Man Episode 58

I’ve finished watching the episode, and I have seen something very interesting:

1. In this entire episode, Bak or who ever the person is kept saying God and this annoys me. I hope this show won’t turn out into some show which has a lot of debating issues on religion later on. But I’ll just leave it to the manga-ka to explain the story further in the manga.

2. Jeryy; I mean, he’s supposed to be in the Headquarters right? Why is he here in the Asia Branch (Unless he used some kind of teleporter, which is impossible in the timeline of D.Gray Man. It’s the 17th/18th century, man. Or he had some kind of superpower which makes him run fast to the Headquarters to the Asian Branch like the Flash, but I think that would be almost impossible. He’s not an Exorcist, so forget about him having superpowers.)

I was thinking if the Ark is available, but since the Ark hasn’t been show in the show yet, I leave that one out, too.

And let’s get on this week’s episode (Or not. I’m such a slow anime watcher):

Wong should rather be a male nurse than an assistant to Bak, don’t ‘cha think? And I don’t think Bak needs an assistant either. He’s okay all by himself.

The episode started when Allen realized that he’s still alive after badly beaten by a Noah and runs off before Wong comes to aid Allen in the bandages (Mumbling that he’s going to be in trouble if Bak finds out that he does not treat Allen on time). After entering the room, all he saw was a missing Allen and Fou who just woke up finding herself to find Allen with Wong.

Many new characters were introduce (For those who haven’t read the manga you would find this new but for the others who read it it’s not big deal to you. After all, (censored what am I was about to say), it looks like you have to read the manga by yourself if you have not. There were serious scenes, there were funny scenes and there were weird scenes (One of them is Jeryy. I wonder how he got there…).

Let’s start with the serious scene here, shall we? Allen runs away, trying to get out of the Branch until Bak comes in to give Allen a bit of hope to continue to serve the Black Order (Or the Black Religion. But I’ll stick to Black Order, ’cause it sounds nice to my ears.) in the supportive department but there is still hope for Allen to recover his left arm.

This must be the latest way to write to people who owe debts to loan sharks/creditors. I don’t see a path here, Allen. (But I know that it’s a path.)

At the above picture, no spoilers for those who have not read the manga yet. It’s a path, an invisible path.

And coming to the much less serious scenes, Fou finally kicked Bak’s ass and he deserves it. I have a suggestion, but after the Exorcists have defeated the Earl, and if Kanda hasn’t had a girlfriend or still alive, he and Fou should date. After all, they have some things in common. 1. They’re foul-mouth, 2. Both of them are short-tempered. While Kanda on his side is calm and does not talk much, Fou is agitated very easily and can talk as much as she could at Bak.

Fou, I don’t think you’ve learn some manners yourself, and scolding Allen and Bak is already enough. What, is Allen going to say good morning to you when you’re sleeping, that will make Allen wear a dunce cap if he does that, and by the way Fou, Allen’s not dead yet, he’s not having amnesia or infected with mad-cow disease. Besides adding Bookman into a future fighting game, why don’t we add Bak Chan into it too? He can kick anyone’s ass as he wants to anytime. I might suggesting a Chinese type of sword to him if he’s into the game or choosing a weapon.

Woo, I think Lou’s going to become Lavi’s protege soon enough. With her saying ‘strike’ in this episode, it might be possible.

But I’m still supporting Allen X Lenalee, Allen X Lou might not be possible. And then after the check-up, Allen once again goes back into his never-say-die habit of eating a lot of food at once. I envy Allen, ’cause my mum back at home is now controlling my everyday diet and I cannot eat anything that is fatttening (I want hamburger and fried chicken….).

RV: Allen, can I swop dishes with you?

Allen: (Thought for a while and turn to RV) Maybe not.

RV: :’(( (NOOOOO!!!!!!!)

I’m hungry, people. A bowl of noodles is not enough for me (Really!) and I’m currently having a Grape Mentos right now. I wish I can have that omelette rice, cha-han, hamburger, curry rice, rice…..or chicken flavor soba at least (I’m not becoming Kanda obessed)

Once, I got lost in a shopping mall, but this time, I’m really lost in this Branch!!! HELP ME!!!!

Okay, so I lied about the part that I got lost at the Asian Branch. Someone else got lost (Impz, maybe, or Extrange [RV: That's for calling me a loli!!!], but probably Crusader) but that’s not the point. The next thing Allen is going to see is his scattered Innocence which looked like mist covering the room and also explains the mist is ACTUALLY protecting Allen while Fou was lost in the forest carrying Allen back into the AB (Asian Branch) to protect him from any more danger. But when Allen was about to recover his Innocence weapon back into his hand the hand turned back to mist and Allen had a hard time getting it right. But the next episode the AB staff have other plans…

Meanwhile back at the ship, Lenalee is still worried about Allen and it’s so typical of Allen not to give up at the last moment. All protagonists are alike, like Sora from KH, Lloyd of Tales of Symphonia, Karin from Kamichama Karin (I’m still waiting for the subs for episode 18 and further), Eva Wei/Molly from Oban Star Racers but with a slight twist (Watching it in free-to-air television channel. Not going to spoil the fun of knowing what’s next) and many more (Maybe with the exception of Cloud and Squall Leonheart from Final Fantasy VII and VIII respectively. Both of them are emo protagonists.)

Before I announce the preview of the next episode, take a look at today’s omake:

Clipboard 20clipboard 21

And Kanda should enter a soba-eating contest (Covered in episode 54′s omake no. 2)

Next episode, Bak and the others from the AB are revealing Plan B: Fou attacking Allen to recover his Innocence like what he did to Mana when he was protecting himself before becoming an Akuma (Or demon in the subs). Two of the Generals, Cloud and Winters are back at the Headquarters after the Exorcists protecting them were killed.

Overview: Overall, this episode is not so bad. I’ve got nothing to say about it, I don’t judge things very well and well-informed with info. I hate the OP, but I like the ED. But I wonder how the anime is going to last, don’t want it to be like One Piece or Pokemon to go on forever. Pokemon already burst my brains, One Piece is never ending but I never watch it (My brother has been reading the manga for a while), I’m not a One Piece fan so stop clobbing at me if you are. I don’t like shows that are never ending, but I hope D.Gray Man won’t be one of them.

    1. The backdrop for the series is a religious setting so of course god will be mentioned constantly, it must be taken as an Alternate World though.
    2. I think its meant to be a visual joke that there is someone almost identical to Jeryy at the Asia Branch.

I think Fou is foul-mouthed because she is an important-or very important person you know-ORZ
and I think Bak-chan’s voice is a bit off-I somehow always imagined his voice to be less mature than the one in the anime as he’s still young, even younger than Komui.
Now, even though I take Allen x Linalee as canon couple, it worries me when Lou uses a very famous VA-Maya Sakamoto. Does this mean something or am I reading it too much?
The Jerry look-alike thing-Well I personally think he has a superpower-he can cook ALL the dishes Allen want LOL
