If you ever see the OP in the FLC Saiunkoku Monogatari subs…

If you are watching the Four Leaf Clover fansubs of Saiunkoku Monogatari, you might have seen the above screenshot. My name appearing in the subs came from a rather amusing story since it is something that relates to a conversation between my girlfriend (who is the encoder for the FLC subs) and me . I remember that she messaged me one day about the ED, and told me to translate it for her fansub. I am probably in a half-awake state of mind, and actually agreed to translating the ED.

Innocent like a fly, I did up the translation in a few minutes. The next thing definitely woke me up from my slumber. She started becoming the evil editor that is so anal, that you wonder if you are dating the same sweet person you know normally. Yes, if you have ever dealt with a true-blue editor, you will feel just the same way as me, which is “meh”. Anyway, I cleanly forgot about it. Recently, I helped her in some work for FLC due to her computer failing her completely. It is then I realize that my name is up there. I never thought that I will ever have my name in any subs, and I am actually doing some work as an encoder too when her computer is being a total pain.

Quite interesting stuff if you ask me, and I guess it’s kind of queer to see my own translation on an actual subbing episode. Now, I will want to evade the many angry Saiunkoku Monogatari fans who have the sudden realization that an idiotic blogger has done the ED translation.

P/S: I am now rewatching the ED translation to see if everything makes sense. I can be paranoid at times.

Impz, thanks for the story. I think its pretty cool that you and your girlfriend love Saiunkoku Monogatari so much that you would spend time subbing for us non-speaking Japanese fans. Heck, I would think differently if you didn’t have your name up there. Subbing is a lot of work! This is not your typical romance anime like Ouran Club (which I also love). Saiunkoku Monogatari is very complex with all the politcal intrigue like Rurouni Kenshin. Thanks sooo much for subbing up to I think Season 2 eppie 9? I also am grateful for your translation/blog. I really hope you and your girlfriend will translate to the very end of the anime for us. Keep up the great work!

Hahaha! practically your gf is your boss in the translation business… I wonder if my friends feel the same way when we get to be in the same project together?

That’s really so sweet, though. Doesn’t it just feel nice to see your name up there? I know I would if it was me.

    FWIW, kudos to you!

    *cheers*

Erm, Impz, frankly speaking. I’m seriously glad that you guys are doing the subs. I’ve found that fansubbed animes are better than actual DVD-releases. Fan subs speaks much better English than those hellish, God-forbidden translations by the licensed producers!

Once again, thanks so much, Impz & girlfriend :) !

I like subs because of stylized fonts plus the karaoke in some insert songs. when I watched Madlax (fasub) I was absolutely amazed with the timing of the karaoke inserts. cool. thanks.

Um… I read before you did something like raw and sub or whatever… But is it that you mean that you are also putting the episodes in? I’m just curious…
