Frustrated at tests and why Winter 2007/2008 really got on my nerves…more shoujo series pls!

The no. of questions I have to do

The number of Math questions I have to complete. Hint: Look at the ghost’s forehead. And yes, I’m very frustrated.

I have a very good reason why I did not write anything for the past weeks between mid-January 2008 to early February 2008, and with all the school work I’m currently coping (Including tests and taking one subject more than all my classmates in school which is Music, oh my beloved Mozart and Chopin…) plus I don’t find the Winter 2007/2008 lineup very intriguing. The only shows I’m currently watching is Persona -trinity soul- (I don’t mind about the series being slow, I like the way it does things for now) and some other line ups from Autumn 2007 such as Shugo Chara and Gundam 00. The rest are all crap to me, stupid fanservice or harem anime, I wish they show something more interesting and somewhat original. That is why I’m currently busily writing a Persona 3 fan fiction which is about 30-40 chapters to kill time, instead of forcing myself to watch some crappy anime and cry what’s going to happen the next day, such as inflation.

I won’t be reviewing the ongoing episodes of D.Gray Man since it mostly follows the manga (And that Level 4 Akuma is creeping me out, I had nightmares crawling over me for the past few nights after reading chapter 145) and I’ll be posting the review of Vampire Knight chapter 36 soon because I need to get to know more about it and not repeat the same mistakes I’ve made for the previous reviews in Vampire Knight, hoping I won’t get flame. I’m going for a neutral view from this point onwards and not be biased, hating Kaname all day long.

And moving on to why the lineup is getting on my nerves, is that there is a lack of shoujo anime coming up right now aside from the Vampire Knight anime which is coming in Spring 2007 on April. Why is the number of shounen and shuojo imbalance? All this while the anime I’ve been watching is shounen, shounen and more shounen and the number of shoujo anime broadcasting in Japan is decreasing! Why? Why?

Moreover, my otaku friend and I haven’t been talking much about anime in school these days (And she doesn’t have any ideas on more good anime either aside from Persona -trinity soul- which is the only anime we’ve been talking about and Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations OVA too.) Where is the justice??? If this goes on in the Spring 2008 lineup, I’m going to puke blood during class and use an Evoker to summon a Persona to end the world of crappy anime!

Seriously, I’m not going to freak out and destroy the entire world. The world is already bad enough as it is, plus inflation, natural disasters, people dying, global warming and all the things you can come up with if you find any source of news. So let’s hope the Spring 2008 lineup will be a better one and not a lot of shounen anime for once.

On the other hand, I’ll be posting more posts since February is not so busy for my everyday life and I will be able to handle things in a certain extend.

Posts to look out for from RV:

Vampire Knight Chapter 36
Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations OAV (For the first 2 episodes, the last one is only out in March)
Persona -trinity soul- probably the latest episode that I could find and already watched it.
Upcoming videos I’ve found to make everyone be entertained (And mostly funny)
Finally, some KH news for KH fans (If I can find them, not much updates these days)

This is what anime is all about.

The lack of shoujo animes isn’t all surprising. A few years back, I would’ve been screaming for moar shoujo animes and drop all the other shows which I categorize as male-fanservice-oriented or harem animes, but now I realize how that made me miss out on the hidden gems of the season offerings.

Please, do not label all the other animes this season as “crap”. We all have our own biases, I know, but there’s more to the Winter shows that meets the eye, if you care to spend enough time watching them. The only animes I see among the Winter animes which falls under the “pure fanservice & harem” realm mentioned would be Rosario+Vampire, KimiAru and H2O, but even those can’t be considered unoriginal. Igunis even posted about this originality issue just now.

Rather than a lack of interesting and original animes this season, I’d say there’s a “lack of bishies” (and I think that’s what your real sentiment is, or am I not right?). There’s going to be a bishie overload of some sort in the upcoming season, so don’t fret. Springtime seems to be the season for shoujo shows.

I agree! Bring on the bishonen! The only show I’m keeping up with right now that could qualify as shojo would be Saiunkoku Monogatari, and its being subbed so wicked slow I’m getting annoyed with it.

But thanks to this lull, I’m watching a few older things I havent seen, including some BL, which generally is low on my list of things to watch. Go pointless fanservice for girls! woo~

I agree with most of what you’ve said. The winter season this year wasn’t what I expected at all. And, I must say that Persona and Minami-ke are the only series I’ve stuck to (besides Gintama and Clannad. Bring on the shoujo!!!!! (btw, VK 36, -o-)

I don’t know why people look down on the new season personally. Hakaba Kitaro is just wildly fun, there’s the new Aria, Noble Masters, Major is awesome as usual, etc etc.

As for shoujo, it is typically from last season’s holdouts like Kimikiss, Clannad and the like.

    Man I miss ef…

Technically, though shows like Kimikiss/Clannad/this season’s true tears center around romance and relationships, ‘shoujo’ would be bad labelling for these series since the focus is very much on the girl characters, who usually end up being MORE fanBOY fodder… (but yea, i miss ef too)

The problem may be that summer and summer/fall were slightly above
average while winter is slightly below.
While Minami Ke 1 und 2 aren’t bad at all, Winter has nothing
like Potemayo or LuckyStar. Also, some people like me were hoping
    for Haruhi 2nd.
