Happy Valentine's Day/Singles Awareness Day

valentine-mk2.jpg

Well its Adnan bin Saida Memorial Day sadly many couples often choose to spit upon the memory of this man whose heroic actions thwarted for a time the hated Japanese invaders during the Japanese Invasion of Malay. On the commercial holiday known as Valentine’s Day people go on dates and give away chocolates instead of holding a moment of silence to this great man. So happy Valentines Day you capitalist love pigs and thanks for remembering one of the Heroes of the Fall of Singapore. In the mean time we single folk will celebrate Adnan bin Saidi’s last delaying action in a more respectful and somber mood. Thanks for caring…

Seriously at least give the man a toast in his honor even better take a trip to Kent Ridge Park. For two days Leftenan Adnan bin Saidi led his men in a tenacious defense at the Pasir Panjang Ridge against numerous Japs until he and his men could fight no more. For two days he extolled his men to hold out against the shelling. Short of food and ammunition, but not courage they were finally broken by a massed Banzai charge by the hated enemy. The Japs did not take Adnan bin Saidi prisoner, despite him being wounded, and chose to beat him, tie him to a cherry tree, and bayonet him to death. Despite his actions, it was to prove in short term vain as the British under Arthur E. Percival failed to defend forward leading to the Fall of Singapore, the Gibraltar of the East on February 15, 1942. Retribution would have to wait until 1945.

    Ah . . . simpler times. Also, the first image is win. Which prompts me to ask – though I imagine you’re not – you’re not named after the Crusader tank yourself, are you?

    In any case, happy bin Saidi day to you too.

    Happy Adnan bin Saida Memorial Day. I didn’t know it was valentine’s day, let alone the much more tragic day when Adnan bin Saida died.

    I probably can be excused for the former, the latter on the other hand……Should I kill myself in order to repent for my ignorance?

    Lol, “Japs” an interesting choice of words to be found on an anime blog. Come on pal there are plenty of singles who dont have a date for Valentines. And for that matter plenty of heroic war dead throughout the ages. Post is made of fail.

    You better hope you didn’t name yourself after the crusader tank the English were so disappointed with how the performed in Africa… breaking down all the time really hard to fix/ maintain that they just left them there… all of them.

    Edit: in-fact it was almost made redundant altogether by the Sherman and the Cromwell, 2 more shit tanks, the turret was removed and it was used as a tow truck.

    poor tank…

    Adnan did not die so that Singapore could become apathetic, a lapdog to the Japanese/Americans, and a country so full of injustice and fail the mere mention of the country would elicit tasteless jokes about the island he defended with his life.

    In short, Adnan did not die so that Singapore did not become Japan without the lulz. Which is what is happening today.

    I’m glad he actually died. He would have killed himself if he saw Singapore today.

    I was actually planning on putting a Valentine tank on my entry too, but I forgot, and when I remembered, Valentine’s had already passed lol

    I have said nothing about being ronrey and this is far from pathetic, but this is pathetic:

    @Setsukyie
    Brew up some tea and bash on.

    @lanie-emon
    Bash on.

    @IKnight
    No, I chose it based on the fanatics of the Crusades, besides its one of the more polite labels I have been given as a government dog. I should have chosen Centurion, but what is don is done. Good thing the IJA kept everyting but battle plans simple especially their codes which were unbreakable by those stupid Americans.

    Bash on.

    @ZeusIrae
    No need to throw yourself on a sowrd like some idiot, brew up some tea or buy a beer and drink to his memory.

    Bash on.

    @Calawain, RDrake, nutcase23
    As the Diggers would say his blood was worth bottling.

    Bash on.

    @Jay
    Ah but there were few Malays whose names lived on, and fewer still who shined brightly before humiliating capitulation that led to years of Japanese Oppression. Yes full of fail, tell that to those who died during the subsequent occupation. Again thanks for caring…

    @tienguan
    In good time in good time.

    Thanks and bash on.

    @Progenitor
    Not the tank but rather those bloody fanatics who ran rough shod over the world when the Pope could call upon an army. If I had to choose a Brit Tank as a name sake I would have chose Centurion.

    Hey hey, even the T-34 came off badly against the Panthers and Tigers, the Germans had excellent tanks, the Allies had decent tanks, the Italians obsolete tanks, and the Japanese had shit tanks tanks that could be stopped by a heavy machine gun and be penetrated by rifle rounds…

    At least Brit Tanks had good armor and speed. Heck the Russians thought well enough of them to keep them running along with other lend lease tanks. Seems Ivan took a liking to AC, heating, and cushioned seats, sure they were not as good, but they were really comfy compared to the bare bones no frills T-34.

    @DrmChsr0
    Nah, he’d just assault ODEX HQ and run rough shod over your leaders.

    Bash on.

    @Zeroblade
    There is always next year.

    Bash on.

    @what
    That was the 12th, you’re two days late. Also you must wait one year other wise its a mourning day. Just goes to show you that when you go with God you don’t cut in front of him. Also Untergefreiter don’t get memorial days, Landsers do. ;)
