My 1/8 Max Factory Tsuruya has arrived, prepare to grovel (also need help naming a ship)

Heil Tsuruya. Sieg Nyoro~

Well as a guy who occasionally has to dig a foxhole I am no atheist and as such when my first Tsuruya-san figure arrived at precisely the moment I was applying the last coat of finish on my battleship I took it as a sign that the powers that be, ensured that Tsuruya-san was there to christen the launch of the new flagship of the 5th Fleet. However I am unsure of what to name BB-126, so since Tsuruya-san is the patron saint of THAT I thought it was most fitting to solicit potential names for the Flagship.

Haruhi-sama reviews the 5th Fleet with her General Staff.

I want something that is in some way associated with St. Tsuruya, but can’t decide on Megas, Nyoro~, Admiral Tsuruya, Freiherr von Tsuruya, Graf Tsuruya, or Tsuruya. Perhaps there are names that have escaped me, and if so please offer your assistance. So that’s where you fellow fans of our patron Saint Tsuruya come in helping me name this fine vessel so that its name will strike fear into the hearts of my opponents. Also I need to think of a ship motto. Lastly, kudos; if you know some of the namesakes for the other vessels of the 5th Fleet. Also yes I am a poor photographer… T_T

Admiral Tsuruya wants you to name her flagship.

I have to say having bought my first figure less than a year ago I not sure if I was able to contain the PASSION or simply been derelict in my adherence to the ways of Moyism. Than again my wallet has been squeaking ever since the HDTV purchase, I guess I kind of got use to seeing that much money in my bank statement, well here’s hoping for some Title 10 orders. Still I guess its a good thing I was able to limit myself to one series for the most part though I do feel good about accepting Lt. Malvin’s transfer from the lair of that Raigomaru eating Tanuki. To be honest I am not sure how to feel about keeping Tsuruya as is since a neko-mimi conversion would mean I have to do something akin to sacrilege. Still her hair toss is most lovely… :)

    I’m always amazed how these PVCs look out of the box. And I grew up painstakingly building up resin figurines and painting it by hand.

    Man I’m old or something..

    Heyy~ Those are 40k Battlefleet Gothic Necron ships!

  4. Posted February 22, 2008 at 7:39 am | Permalink

    I never got into Gothic, always been a pure 40K player all the way (Tau) but I have got to say the fleet looks brilliant…

    And loving the Figures, that Tsuruya makes me so jealous D:

    Well, whatever you come up with, I’m sure the ship will quickly earn the nickname “The Fang.” Or you could just name it that in the first place.

    Considering the fate of the graf spee, it might not be a good idea to name it graf Tsuruya.

    Megas is a good start but If it was me it would me Megas Alexandros.Not Tsuruya related anyway.

    Freiherr doesn’t have a military feel.I think GrossAdmiral Tsuruya is better(but it’s written with a special german letter not two “s”).

    ‘The Fang’? On a NECRON ship? Say it ain’t so, Crusader…

    May I venture though… Grün-behaarte Gönnerin?

    I name my computers after IJN warships :)

    @Shippoyasha
    Yeah I have had a go at painthing resin kits, very time intensive and very hard, but once complete it can turn out excellent.

    @Omar Ali
    I missed the pre-order rounds for those so I’ll just have to wait for one i guess.

    @Forceflow
    Indeed they are I was lucky enough to find one other player who played locally.

    @Deranged
    Hey a fellow Tau player, mechanized or Infantry? I run a mostly mechanized force with a small infantry component. I started Gothic on a whim since the fleet was cheap. Yes Tsuruya is lovely isn’t she. :)

    @Will
    The Fang won’t work because of those blasted space puppies, thanks for he suggestion though.

    @moysim
    Yes master must buy more…. ;)

    @ZeusIrae
    Hey the Graf Spee was scuttled not defeated in a fleet engagement. Still perhaps Ritter von Tsuruya would work better as ritter means knight.

    GrossDamiral seems a bit to haughty for a formation of this size if I only had three battleships i might be moe willing to do so, but I doubt St. Tsuruya is full of such hot air.

    @Myssa Rei
    No Fang won’t do, as for your suggestion hmmm…

    @abao
    Bah I son’t want anything that belongs to me named after IJN ships, they might follow their name sakes into death and ruin…Just look at Asuka Langley Soryu, was her fate not as bad as that of the Soryu? Perhaps even worse? ;)

    Hey Crusader, how’s the Haruhi figure in those pictures? Is it worthwhile to get? I have my local shop holding the figure for me, so I was wondering if it will be a good purchase.

  13. Posted February 23, 2008 at 3:29 am | Permalink

    @Will
    Its certainly not for everyone but they caught me young and I need it like crack. I have so much stuff I need to work that the stuff that is new in box occupy 5 whole moving boxes… T_T

    @IcyStorm
    I am happy with my Haruhi-sama figure and recommend it as a viable purchase for adherents of the PASSION. As far as I can tell its a popular work, and have yet to regret shelling out the money for it. Hope you get yours at a the price you want. :)

    No no, I didn’t suggest that you actually use the Fang. ^^;

    As for the name, it roughly translates as ‘Green-haired Patroness’… I think. Very likely grammatically incorrect, but it’s darn close.

    Arrghh!!! I’ve been waiting weeks for mine to ship. I’ve had it reserved for months, it looks so good. I’m also missing Mikuru, it’s the only one which wont restock where I get my PVC’s.

  16. Posted February 23, 2008 at 3:50 am | Permalink

    @Myssa Rei
    I know, and thanks for your real suggestion. My opponent would have been most confused if those Luddite Space Puppies suddenly boasted adaptive shielding. ;)

    @Kansho
    I too wish that they would restock Mikuru, but alas they have thus far refused to do so. Still Tsuruya is well worth the wait. :)

    For my money Tsuruya is the second HAWTEST after Mikuru. All her bizzarro mannerisms are just really fun and attractive. Can’t compete with the adorably gentle nature, heart of gold, and of course lovely pink underwear of Mikuru though.
