True Tears 8: The Legend of the Isurugi

image0031.jpg
Who doesn’t?

Sweet mother of pearl Hiromi was actually showing signs of Mrs. Nakagami class spite and anger. There was plenty of Noe goodness and some rather intriguing Hiromi and Jun interaction this time around. Also Aiko cries…true tears.

image014.jpg
Same to you too! :)

image015.jpg
Break her heart Shin-chan and we will break you…

For Noe and Shin-chan things are looking up. Shin-chan is nearly finished with his picture book and I really think that is telling that he only really shares it with Noe who sees it as a tribute to the memory of Raigomaru. It was also darling how she kept Jibeta warm too. Such loveliness I don’t want to see crushed and dearly hope that Hiromi is not going to stage a come back. With Noe and Shin-chan they are both so much more open and happy. It stands in stark contrast to the overtones of pity and regret that permeated Shin-chan’s feelings for Hiromi. Noe wants Shin-chan to always be optimistic and to excel. Her love of the sky is one I once shared, but it seems that having less than 20/20 vision due to my mum’s genes ensured that the Air Force and Navy would not need me as a fighter pilot. If nothing else their relationship has made Noe far more tolerant and loving of the Jibetas of the world. Sure they can no longer fly but they need love too.

snapshot20080224171306.jpg
Compassionate Noe is Moe.

image043.jpg
See love is supposed to bring out the best in a person, Noe is even forgiving Hiromi and trying to play nice.
First fight first love its all the same to me.

I think Noe’s prophecy that the Raigomaru Picture Book will be Shin-chan’s wings will prove true in due time. I wonder if Shin-chan’s first attempt to get published with his mopey Hiromi story was an indication of how his use of Hiromi as a muse was a dismal failure much like his relationship with her proved. I hope that Noe being the superior muse will allow Shin-chan to get his work published and prove to Stripey that Noe is the right woman for Shin-chan. I don’t think that this is a case of proxy love because Shin-chan has thrown himself into his work more seriously than ever before simply to please Noe. When he agreed to let Noe love him more there was no indication of sadness just contentment.

image028.jpg
Some cold hearted bastard…

image031.jpg
By Jove a smile that’s not directed at Shin-chan?

Hiromi on the other hand seems to getting ever more jealous and hateful like her oppressor. Much anger in her; like her step mother. As True Tears marches on I am beginning to seriously doubt that Hiromi is genuinely in love with Shin-chan since it is all too easy to mistake jealousy for true love. Her dream or rather nightmare was more about not being abandoned rather than loved. I cannot escape the idea that maybe what Hiromi needed was not a lover but a family in the wake of her loss. Perhaps she saw Shin-chan as her protector and savior and now that she has nothing left for her but continued Mrs. Nakagami oppression then the idea that Shin-chan won’t be there to save her is really taking its toll on the girl. It is clear that while Mr. Nakagami has made efforts to make Hiromi welcome she is still not satisfied with being loved by her father. I think it matters little if Mr. Nakagami is in fact her father, but the man is being sincere and does care about her. What is clear is that she has never really gotten beyond that scared little girl who was lost in that bamboo forest so long ago.

image066.jpg
Playful Hiromi is a lovely Hiromi.

image0351.jpg
I gather that this is how Stripey looked when Nauzron found out about his sis-con.

While I think that many of us were expecting Jun to be a jerk throughout I still beg to differ. Perhaps it is a red herring that every time Hiromi and Jun meet that it snows, but maybe it is a sign that Hiromi deep down likes the company that Jun provides, but insists on denying it. Hiromi has no confidant if she talks to her gal pals then Mrs. Nakagami will surely get wind of it soon enough. Shin-chan is out because she thinks that she loves him and while Noe would be most suitable she can’t bring herself to speak plainly with her “rival.” Here Jun demonstrated his wisdom in having a free throw contest to try and get Hiromi to open up. The fact that he agreed to handicap himself further indicates his willingness to try and start some dialogue with Hiromi and perhaps Hiromi was very much aware of Hotarugawa no. 4’s lethality at the 3 point line. He did not mind revealing something to Hiromi for the short term and for her to smile for Jun at least means that she is willing to tolerate his presence. If in fact Jun’s goal was to try and get Hiromi to be more forgiving of Noe he has partially succeeded as Hiromi did feel awful afterward and disgusted that she was ending up like Mrs. Nakagami.

image045.jpg
That looks like concern to me…

image0181.jpg
Jealous Hiromi is an ugly Hiromi.

While Hiromi calling out Jun for being a sis-con was delightful, I think it also shows that Hiromi is not going to be the junior partner in their time together. Now that I think about it outside of being around Shin-chan, jun is the only other male that can draw out a Hiromi smile. Unlike Hiromi who has trouble letting go of her bro-con ways, Jun is able to either better able to conceal his jealousy or is genuinely happy for Noe. I think that it is the latter. While Hiromi and Jun started out on a rather odd foot, Jun, I suspect actually feels something for her. At this point it seems that he is trying not only to keep her from interfering from Shin-chan and Noe, but also protect her from herself. Jun could have easily treated Hiromi badly and left her to stew on her own, but he did no such thing. Isurugi nii followed her and tried to reassure Hiromi when she regretted her words he spoke forgivingly rather than fly into a righteous fury for her disparaging of his beloved imouto. When Hiromi ran away from home he quickly reversed his position in not riding his bike in the snow. Sure he wants to live but he saw something major in Hiromi to make him change his mind. I hypothesize that Jun saw how hurt, angry, and sad Hiromi was and rather than leave her alone he stayed with her, probably to prevent her from doing something drastic like suicide or something similarly daft.

image013.jpg
I assume those are love bugs…Remember Nobuse success is not final, defeat is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.

snapshot20080224172027.jpg
He’s dead Jim not coming back Aiko.

Aiko’s rejection was suitably brutal and short when Shin-chan made his intentions clear. While we can blast him for wanting to pretend that none of this was happening I think that he desperately hoped that things could go back to the way they were. Sadly words, like water, once poured can never be taken back. Still perhaps the redoubtable Nobuse can still win Aiko’s heart with his own strength this time, with out meddling from Shin-chan. If the OP playing during their last meeting Nobuse has lost none of his tenacity and while Aiko can spurn all she wants it is written in the stars. Without friends or Nobuse her grief will destroy her utterly. Nobuse is quite a fellow even when Shin-chan announced that he was going on a date with Noe he holds no ill will toward his friend, besides he knows better than to incur the wrath of Noe. Kudos to Nobuse to walking away at Aiko’s insistence, perhaps if Aiko still has an ounce of intelligence she will begin to ponder how deep his affection for her runs. Now that Shin-chan is out of the picture maybe Nobuse and Aiko can get off on the right foot this time rather than being pressured from without.

image0071.jpg
You Lose.

image016.jpg
Shin-chan has but Jun won’t.

I think that Mrs. Nakagami might be slowly realizing how much of horrible person she has been to Hiromi and if it was her that sent out an APB for Hiromi then she might have taken a step in the right direction. While unbuttoned Hiromi was shocking I hope Jun realizes how desperate and hurt she is, and hope that his stoicism will survive the melonpan onslaught. What Hiromi needs right now is not a lover, she needs a friend and someone she can share her pain with. Given that Isurugi Nii has gone through this already I fervently hope that he teaches Hiromi how to let go of her love that can never be gracefully. If anything thus far Hiromi has been a jerk to Jun as well since she is never short of some demand. Jun nii has always endeavored to protect Noe, but now that she is finally strong he needs something or someone to protect, and Hiromi needs some one to protect her from her own self.

image053.jpg
Fall back! Fall back!

image056.jpg
To the Isurugi Nii defense line. :)

Now that Hiromi is embarking upon the path of no return I hope that it will be Jun not Shin-chan who helps her heal the scars and pain of her years. While a dual sis-con ending would be epic and earn True Tears a great deal of infamy I hope that PA works makes this more about letting go. After all I said it once I’ll say it again jealousy doesn’t equal love and Hiromi has brought out the worst in her self by loving Shin while Jun has shined in his graceful handing off of Noe to the one she loves. Nobuse too his not sullied by jealousy while I have to say should Hiromi continue down her path she will end up like the hateful Mrs. Nakagami rather than being her mother’s daughter. Still I wonder who Shin is fighting that no name dude for, since we can’t see the footwear I am hoping it Noe rather than Hiromi. If love is supposed to bring out the best in a person the Noe has certainly brought out the best in Shin-chan as he has brought out the best in her (i.e. liking Jibeta). I think I do see Jun brining out he best in Hiromi as she is much more open with him than any one else and vice versa as only Hiromi knows about Jun’s sis-con. Every time Hiromi has seen Shin-chan thus far she has only hideous hateful jealousy to show for it.

image0012.jpg
Yep definitely concern…

image057.jpg
You pout now, but soon we shall see tears, preferably on Jun nii’s shoulders. :)

I disagree with the Kuro, Stripey, Shirukii and the HiromixShin-chan demographic that the double sis-con ending is definite. While it would be an epic win for sis-con I would very much like True Tears to end with flying and the lesson that your first love is not necessarily your true love. Still I think we can all agree to expect the unexpected, and barring a dreaded Gainax ending or a Nice Boat I won’t begrudge a double sis-con victory either…Then again a union of the Isurugi and Nakagami Clans is just what both families need, just saying. :P

    Poor Miyokichi, that is what you get for wearing a sweatshirt that says SHOCKER every day. I think he’s going to play innocent until a chance to really humiliate Ai comes up, and then he’ll dump her in public. Revenge!

  2. Posted February 24, 2008 at 11:53 pm | Permalink

    I wholeheartedly agree with most of your points. I am a fervent Noe supporter, and I think that Shin is certainly beginning to really feel for her through this episode. Just because he was in love with Hiromi before doesn’t mean he can’t move on and find happiness with Noe. And wow, Hiromi is certainly showing her previously somewhat suppressed bitchy and false side here. With her conversations with Jun and her striking similarities to Shin’s mother, she certainly is confirming much of the distasteful character traits I find she has.

    As for Ai, wow that was certainly quite the rejection. Often in these shows confessions go unanswered and indecisive for later drama. At least here it came to an abrupt end, and hopefully now maybe Ai can move on like we hope Shin does. Nobuse is a good guy that really cares for her, if she can find happiness in that then all will be good.

    @Kabitzin
    Indeed revenge is a dish best served cold, but no one likes it stale. I don’t think that Miyokichi is going to get his chance, besides now he has the “get out of jail free card” with Aiko once she sees the light. :)

    I think that having all those people there was pretty darn public, but he just walked away…if he’s going to do it he better do it while Aiko is still down and out.

    @Calawain
    Shin-chan did deliver the coup de grace with that one, no wiggle room for Aiko at all. I hope Impz is pleased. Still Nobuse has been defeated but he’s still in the fight.

    As for Hiromi, yeah she is starting to turn to the dark side. I hope Jun will save her and be the man to redeem her. We know Jun cares, but is a matter of time before he wins Hiromi over, after all Hiromi is reasonably well behaved when its just her and Jun. :)

    Noe is Moe. Sieg Noe.

    Break him? I will snap off his happy buddy. I have to watch the episode before commenting…*skirts away*

    Well, rooting for a particular ending doesn’t mean that it will happen definitely.

    Even if Shin does end with with Noe, I’m pretty happy with that, as long as they end the whole thing properly and in a satisfying way. I’m in true tears primarily for the drama and Hiromi anyways.

    @Impz
    Get to it boss.

    @Kurogane
    Yeah I could end up very wrong but I want a happy ending. I trust that we both can agree that hopes are riding high for a brilliant execution and a “shock and awe” conclusion that will blow us all away, in a good way.

    I’ll be happy when Hiromi learns to fly, my opinion of her took beating when she mouthed off at Noe.

    I am one with you in shipping Noe x Shin, Crusader. I’d love this show so much more if that happens. Especially if Hiromi will be able to let go, and learn to love Jun (and vice versa). Same with Ai and Miyokichi. If this happens, True Tears will be one of the first few romance drama anime to take the route of pairing up characters with someone who is not the their “first love” (in the case of Hiromi, Shin, Jun, and Ai), without much of the angst and KimiNozo emoness. Let us see how true love (despite the tears) can develop from all this :)

    Noe and Shin are perfect for each other. I love how Noe inspires Shin (in his picture book drawing, his dreams), and vice versa.

    I’m not a Noe fan because I think she seems forced in every way, but I could deal with Shin x Noe in the end. I kind of am hoping for it now because it would be unconventional for these types of shows. Same with Ai eventually getting over her crush on Shin and going back with Miyokichi. Jun and Hiromi should find some kind of twisted love too. :D

    Though Noe wants what is best for Shin to “make him fly” and I think in the end if it’s not her she won’t fight it. She’s selfless even if I don’t really like her much. Though they could stay together. I also agree that I think Hiromi needs a family and not really the love of boyfriend. She’s got all sorts of issues on top of grieving the death of her parents.

    The end will end with Hiromi being happy one way or the other. I know people are getting all caught up in the Noe thing, but to start with the show is about Hiromi to me.

  9. Posted February 25, 2008 at 8:19 am | Permalink

    Again I must state, as much as I love Noe and want her to win, I whole heartedly believe Hiromi will win in the end… and that just irks me…
    Noe is the kind of girl you dream of …. happy and helpful, kind and caring.. supportive and motivating… what the heck has Hiromi done… sulk and bitch…

    Ok I finally got the chance to watch this episode.

    1. I really feel that Hiromi is in a pinch. She is clearly in love with Shin, but acts like a total pain in the ass due to her blood relationship with Shin. So, girl, give it up or fight to the end. In any case, there is really little information on whether Shin’s mother claims are true or not. Why does Hiromi not affirm it with Shin’s father. It perplexes me.

    2. I swear Shin will break Noe’s heart. Noe is so moe and pure that even red blood will transform into pure white snow by her. I reiterate my threat to snap off Shin’s happy buddy if he dares to betray her. I just have a feeling that things will get a bit bloody in the end when I try to kill that little bastard!

    3. I laugh big time at the sister complex remark. Jun blushed! Well, I am a supporter of Jun x Noe. I am not a crazy siscon fan like Stripey, but I do think the two are better compared to Noe x Shin. A pity, Noe is oblivious.

    4. Aiko can die. On a stick. Painfully. Proxy loving women get no sympathy from me. Crying is so easy for her. I wish she will be kicked into oblivion soon enough unless she understands the great love of Nobuse.

    Yes, my rant is over.

    @Anne: Yep, I can so imagine Noe being selfless. In a way, I feel that the two are not really in a relationship but more like a very close friendship. Yet, it’s really hard to tell sometimes because a relationship does not have to be romantic, but simply understanding each other.

    I do hope that Hiromi gets a good end, but Noe’s heart should not be broken too much. Aiko? I don’t care.

    You know, this series has surprised me from the start. It’s like the opposite of School Days: We actually have a male protagonist who thinks things through. With his brain, not his penis.
    This is indeed exceptional! I loved the scene when he leaves Aiko’s restaurant, and she’s totally in tears and devastated. DAMN RIGHT, SHIN’ICHIRO! THAT’S THE RIGHT REPLY! Just don’t do that again, and we’re set to go.
    Hiromi is just a victim of her own choices. She needs to work out her damn issues, and it looks like she might. This may take a while.
    And Noe… She’ll be heartbroken at some point. It’s almost necessary for this to happen. I do not think she will end up the series in a negative form, but bad things will happen before things take a turn for the best. Isn’t that what makes up drama?
    All in all, a basic solid episode. It’s mostly a bridge episode between all the impressive moments in the last episode, and what’s to come. And it’s good: It’s like the calm before the storm. And I can’t wait to see the storm!

  12. Posted February 25, 2008 at 3:13 pm | Permalink

    …I only have 2 words about the whole anime….

    NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! NOE MOE! I’m so torn on the ending for True Tears. I love Noe and want to see her end up with Shin, but at the same time I can’t shake the feeling that we’re heading to a Hiromi end. And yea, the double siscon possibility is pretty appealing.

    I suppose only time will tell.

    I laughed out loud when Hiromi flat out stated Jun’s siscon tendencies. I get the idea that Jun isn’t flustered very often. :)

    I partially agree with Shirukii here – I would really like to see a NoexShin ending here, but there’s so many different ways this anime could spiral off that I’ve no idea what to expect from it. I am, though, looking forward to Mother Nakagami’s continuous drama with Hiromi…

    @Crusader

    “Her love of the sky is one I once shared, but it seems that having less than 20/20 vision due to my mum’s genes ensured that the Air Force and Navy would not need me as a fighter pilot.”

    The Navy offers free lasik surgery but there was a long waiting list last I heard. The Army and Air Force definitely offer the same, especially for deployable personell.

    At this point, you’ve already signed the contract, I think (Army?); there’s no opportunity to bargain further if you did. You CAN, however, (if you want it that bad) bolster your credentials with a technical/engineering degree and enter into whatever your service calls its equivalent of the air-ops/air-det community.

    You also have to decide on whether or not you’re going to be a Line/General officer or a Chief Warrant/Technical Officer (CWOs stay in their technical locales ie they stay in the cockpit and don’t move on to desk jobs). There are many jobs such as UAVs, ELINT, PUFF Gunnery and Fire Control Systems, etc which DO NOT require 20/20 vision, but DO require technical acuity and managerial skills (poise under stress comes with experience).

    I’ll use Navy examples for obvious reasons. The US Navy is allowing its personell more freedom of movement within ratings (jobs). Certain ratings (like FC and IS) which were once locked out (or locked in) are now open due to CREOs; enlisted can change ratings with schools at will. New Chief Warrant Officers are being considered for Flight Duty and even Air Bosses (that job’s really sought after because it’s almost a requirement for passing boards). Some Navy personell have also been moving into another service (Army) with “Blue to Green”.

    Anyway, I’m just saying that if you want to fly, there’s nothing really holding you back. The opportunities in the US Navy alone are legion compared to the second-rate Navies around the world. We compete with the USAF for the title “World’s Most Powerful Air Force”.

    Build a reputable 4-year service record and look out for your troops (that’s the key). When your commission or enlistment time is up, you’ll have credibility and alot of bargaining power. If you become a self-motivated leader/follower, you can request [and get] any school you want.

    It’s all up to you, kid. Do your country [and yourself] proud.

    “Break her heart Shin-chan and we will break you…”

    On every level in every way imaginable. Break her heart and you’ll wish you were dead by the time we get through with you Shin.

    No pressure though Shin ^^

    I feel sorry for Ai-chan, but this is for the best, and if the spirit of the show is learning to let go then it was absolutely necessary that she both confess her feelings and be rejected with no ambiguity, points to Shin-chan for being forthright and honest with her. Had she continued on as she had nothing but pain could have awaited her. Now she too can move on, and as I’ve said in the past I only wish for her happiness. If she discovers feelings for Nobuse and ends with him, then great, but I don’t know if that aspect of the show will have much prominence given that the Noe/Shin front is going to be pretty busy for the next several episodes.

    And on that front, I’m hoping for a Noe x Shin/Jun x Hiromi ending. Definitely not a fan of double siscon ending, as epic as it would be. It seems both couples at this point seem to bring out the best in each other. Of course since we have 5 episodes left to go, I doubt things could be that simple, and a “story book” ending where everyone ends in a healthy relationship with their respective partners would be somewhat out of the ordinary, but I kinda like happy endings so I’m going to hope for that since it’s the best for everyone, but regardless of the ending there’s going to be some serious drama going down before this is all over.

    @usagijen
    Indeed a no first love end would be a first. I hope that there is no KimiNozo influence on this. I much rather have people years form now still shout to the heavens that Noe is Moe rather than Mizuki is a…you know. Here’s hoping Hiromi and Jun will go all basketball rabu rabu soon. :)

    Add one for the good guys. Noe is Moe. Sieg Noe.

    @anne
    It’s not that I demand that Shin-chan hook up with Noe for his sake, but I just don’t want to see Noe get kicked to the curb in some sick proxy love. Noe deserves that much at least. I still think that Hiromi and Jun will be much more happy and interesting together than apart. Go happy ending for all! I think that this story is bout Hirmi and Jun getting over their siblings and finding each other and love after their first crush.

    @Voodoomage
    Hopefully in future eps Jun will prove you wrong and make Hiromi see who it is that will stand by her and never leave her behind, Shin-chan has doen ti once and he will do it again. I think Jun is much more than he seems, sis-con or no sis-con. :)

    @Impz
    Hiromi is convinced and has no doubt, besides it matters not if Mr. Nakagami is her real father or not, all that matters is that he is being a father to her.

    Indeed Jun is a better man than Shin-chan, but Noe wants Shin-chan, and she will get her man!

    Even if you don’t love Aiko Nobuse does.

    @serial
    Thank goodness no one is going over the top emo and stabby. The Storm is brewing but what waits we do not know. Still at least Shin-chan did the right thing and blew off Aiko instead of being a indecisive tart like most male leads.

    @Extrange
    Noe is Moe. Sieg Noe.

    @Shirukii
    I was a bit torn too at first, but now that Hiromi has shown how ugly she can be I am hoping Jun nii will put her back together again. They look darling together, I just wished they realized it.

    @Sly Sloth
    i hope Jun will prove equally as witty in his teasing of Hiromi down the line. After all its the clearest sign that he cares. :)

    @Rykehaven
    Yeah the line is long even in my service, and we need command endorsement too. Our unit is still under strength since the last depolyment ended. Still I gave up on my fighter pilot dreams around the fifth grade (then they told me my ey sight was only going to get worse with age) and found a new love in armor and artillery. Still thanks for the suggestion, my enlistment expires in about two years so I’ll see what’s available then, who knows maybe in two years thing will be even better. You must be a Navy Squid, I prefer to landside since I don’t have sea legs…besides if I switch services I want to keep my rank those recruiters are some sneaky gits when they need to meet quotas.

    @Dirian
    Drama may be in store but if the couples weather the coming storm they will be all the stronger for it. Who knows maybe Hiromi getting rejected will prove to be just she needed to let go, and a Jun nii confession would be what redeems her. ;)

    Best ending IMO: Everyone realizes that they’re in for a massive train-wreck of interests and decides to continue searching. I think that could actually help most girls except for maybe Noe with her attachment to Shinichiro. But even then, I think it’s best if they find a way to move on. At least a few girls will have to make the decision, sooner than later.

    As for Noe, I think she is wedging herself too much into a cute-friend role.

    @Crusader

    You say ‘most male leads’ are indecisive about blowing off childhood friends, but that’s often not the case. Most male charas tend to blow them off THEN become indecisive later. There’s no indication saying Shinichiro blew off Ai for good.

  20. Posted February 26, 2008 at 6:44 am | Permalink

    I think Shin as a harem lead is definitely a lot stronger than most, but I can’t help wishing he’d put Hiromi in her place when her jealousy acts up.

    I don’t think Shin loves Noe in any way. She’s pretty annoying from my viewpoint — that Raigomaru bla-bla is beginning to get on my nerves. Jun’s just going to cause her to end up hurt.

    Ai-chan’s definitely out of the race — that confession reeked of desperation, and I’d definitely be surprised if anyone would try again after that summary dumping.

    I’m looking at the title ‘True Tears’ to try to gauge the ending. If my instincts are correct, I’d expect something bittersweet. Shin breaking up with Noe, nothing for Hiromi (never really liked her — she should just go yandere or something), and maybe Ai-chan gets Nobuse.

    Just my thoughts…

    >how Stripey looked when Nauzron found out about his sis-con

    Actually this was how I looked when she matter-of-factly called me lolicon earlier this week.

    >Jealous Hiromi is an ugly Hiromi

    I find jealous girls charming actually. Not possessive girls mind you, there’s a subtle but important difference. Hiromi pulled away with a huge lead on my TT bishoujo rankings with this ep.

    Ah, that was most illuminating. I think you highlighted a very important point by noting that True Tears will be one of the first to not harp on the “first love” bit if they take the Noe path, as much as I hate to admit it (Shin x Hiromi ftw).

    Think about it this way though — if Noe represents the new and innovative character template that differs greatly from existing bishoujo heroine fodder and Hiromi the stock main girl bishoujo archetype, then what does Aiko represent? A satire on the surprise-confession third-wheel girls everywhere?

    In that sense True Tears could be said to breaking down the walls of stale conventions as much as it has built on existing ones, and if that’s the case I will love it all the more for being so.

    This whole series has been top notch so far, way exceeding expectations…I think we are all expecting them to screw up the ending somehow, no show can be this good right… There will be no solution that pleases everyone, but I sure hope they don’t have and ending that makes everyone mad… that would be tragic after how well it’s gone so far…

    @Shippoyasha
    Shin-chan’s rejection of Aiko was as devastating as von Manstein’s backhand blow to the Soviets. I find it hard to believe that Shin-chan was thinking about Aiko when around glorious Noe or seeing Hiromi pass by on bike. ;)

    @Azuka
    Noe is going to win Shin over eventually or at least prove to be his angel. I am still holding out hope for Jun to win Hiromi over and save her form the pits of despair.

    @Stripey
    >Actually this was how I looked when she matter-of-factly called me lolicon earlier this week.

    There were no arrows therefore you lie. :P

    Don’t be so forgiving of jealousy, as I thiink that it was the main reason why Mr. and Mrs. Nakagami are at odds. Perhaps Mrs. Nakagami loved her husband once, but does she now? Her hate as consumed her and if Hiromi continues loving Shin-chan as she does now Hiromi will meet the same fate.

    @Owen S
    Yeah I think that a perfect ending for Noe would be just as good as a Hiromi ending. Nevertheless I don’t think that there can ever be another Noe, I would like for her to remain one of kind rather than have a parade of 4th rate knock offs. Even if this doesn’t start a revolution in conventions, I don’t mind just having it as a Crown Jewel for PA Works.

    @Voodoomage
    I still have high hopes for the ending given how the streak has lasted 8 eps so far. It certainly will takes some awful writing to muck up everything they have accomplished thus far, but I trust that the full story has not changed thus far, adn what lies ahead we can only guess.

    You know, I just realized there’s something I don’t like about True Tears – and it’s that it makes other shows look bad.

    Before True Tears came on, I was watching, and enjoying KimiKiss. Then I completely forgot about it after True Tears, and now it’s painful to watch KimiKiss. (Especially since this episode I am currently watching has lines like, “I won’t let you cry again!”)

    *sighs*

    “Drama may be in store but if the couples weather the coming storm they will be all the stronger for it. Who knows maybe Hiromi getting rejected will prove to be just she needed to let go, and a Jun nii confession would be what redeems her”

    Oh I totally agree. Conflict can only make the couples stronger if they can weather it. What I don’t want, as I’ve said earlier, is for Hiromi to make a desperation confession(after all her damn lies) and then Shin just dumps Noe and jumps straight into Hiromi’s arms, and now that Hiromi has shown that her love is much more the possessive hateful kind(which is truly a complicated form of hatred, not love), I can’t even support such a pairing on the basis that then Hiromi and Shin would both be truly happy because only pain seems to be able to come from them hooking up, whereas the happy ending for everyone(Noe x Shin, Hiromi x Jun, Ai x Nobuse possibly) results in pairings that would seem to really bring out the best in everyone(not so sure about Ai-chan, but I would have said the same of Jun x Hiromi a week ago, and yet their development this week makes me think that that pairing is perfect because they truly bring the best out in each other, and so who knows what development we’ll get on the Ai x Nobuse front?)

    So for me, I’d say my preferred ending is where all three couples develop their feelings more and more as they realize who can truly make them happy and bring out the best in them: Shin forgetting about Hiromi, Jun and Hiromi overcoming their sis/bro-con tendencies as they discover each other, and Ai-chan realizing how much Nobuse truly cares for her and developing feelings for him.

    My feared ending is where Hiromi pulls a Mao-neesama, Shin then dumps Hiromi like so much discarded trash, Noe is completely heartbroken(seriously Shin, die in a fire if you break Noe’s heart), and Jun decides to prey on her weakness to act on his siscon compulsion.

    And uh…..I dunno Ai-chan goes yandere or something.

    I mean that’s a seriously worst case scenario for me, and I don’t think it will be as bad as all that, but don’t tell me it can’t happen.

    I’m happy to not have any certainty about predictions, a lesser show would be pretty easily figured out by now. Shin seems actually genuinely happy with Noe, but you can’t say there isn’t that feeling in the back of your head that it’s all proxy love, because that’s such a huge theme in general here.

    Either way, this thing is still awesome, the scene by the chickens with Hiromi and Noe was effing brilliant.

    Whenever I watch harem shows, I always stick with first impressions and the first girl in the show is Hiromi so I would normally wave her flag. But man, she sucks or more like Noe just outshines her. Noe is way better to watch than her, but it looks like the Emo queen will win at the end. It feels like the girl who has the most problem always wins at the end.

    The only thing I could think for Shin to completely head towards a Noe direction is if Noe’s life gets threatened. Cuz that way, she’ll have more problems than stupid Hiromi. Anyway, I bet once Noe gets her heart broken, she’ll cry true tears and she completes her mission. That’s how I see this show’s conclusion. *stabs Hiromi* -_-;;

    *EDIT*

    Oh, and I don’t believe Hiromi and Shin are really siblings. Not even for one second.

    I hate Noe because she is a arrogant rude bitch. I hate her since episode 1.

    It’s unfair that Hiromi the nice girl turns to the dark side while Noe the ugly bitch can act all sweet and innocent.

    How can people like Noe I don’t understand.

    She make arrogant bitchy comments to Hiromi (episode 7) such as “you can’t fly and I know it, you are dragging along Shinichirou, as a results he can’t fly too because of you”. Who do she think she is? What merits do she have to judge other people? How can anyone like a fat steaming bitch like this I really do not understand?

    I want to see this ugly bitch turn to the dark side too. Otherwise there is no justice in this anime.

    Let the bitch Noe get dumped by Shinichirou, then the bitch will turn into a hateful screeching monster, everyone will then see the true form of this ugly bitch.

    Btw about the comments about her being friendly and caring, supportive and motivating, blah blah blah, LOFLMAO I don’t know how you see these values in this bitch. Guess what, she don’t have any friends in school. What’s her problem? Maybe everyone cannot stand her offensive unsociable bitch attitude.
