The plot develops further as Murasaki and the gang go to celebrate Shichi-Go-San at a small shrine nearby. The Kuhouins approach further on Samidare apartment to the point where Shinkurou and Murasaki will have to flee.
Much of this episode revolved around Murasaki and Shichi-Go-San (basically a holiday for young children) so I won’t go into much of it in my summary.
Summary

Throughout the episode, agents from the Kuhouins are scouting out the area around Samidare apartment for Murasaki. Even when they go off to the shrine, the men follow them there. A new character appears who happens to be one of Renjou’s sons, Ryuuji who is possibly handling the situation with Murasaki and probably controlling the agents.

Shinkurou finds out from Ginko that there’s no girl named Murasaki in the Kuhouin family records. Not too surprising since we know who Murasaki’s real mother was. However, this seems to hit Shinkurou pretty hard. After hearing this news, Shinkurou heads back to the apartment where he is confronted by the two men scouting the place earlier. He is asked about Murasaki and attacked by the two men before Yayoi jumps in to chase them off.
Impressions

This will probably be the last episode for “fun times” before we get into the rest of the main story. Now that Murasaki has been found, there will be no time for fun and games. There was also a few bad premonitions throughout the episode, possibly foretelling a series of bad events to come soon. All I can say is that I’m expecting some crazy shit to happen in the next few episodes.

There was a few parts during this episode that I thought was charming and funny to watch. The first was when they were talking to Benika on the phone about letting Murasaki go to the shrine. I certainly wasn’t expecting to see her in that situation while talking in that manner.

The second was when Yayoi was talking to herself about the Shisa to herself after everyone else already had a discussion about it. I know that Yayoi likes to keep things to herself and not get involved in other people’s affairs, but it was kind of cute to watch he return to the topic after everyone else has already gone.

I didn’t really get this part where Yuuno was talking about Tamaki and how she apparently knows how to put on Kimonos. What was Yuuno so surprised about and why was she blushing? Is there something I’m missing here? Anyways, I’m just a little curious about that.

Seems like another bad guy appears other than Renjou (who might be considered bad or not), in the form of his very own son. He seems to have a evil and twisted vibe coming from that sinister smile of his and how he even plays mind games on his own father. I’m expecting some crazy shit coming from this guy himself.

Next episode seems to have more confrontations from the Kuhouins and in larger numbers. This shot reminds be of Kill Bill for some reason, but anyways, the plot should be strictly main storyline from now on unless they twist it up in some way we totally won’t see happening. @_@

Can’t remember what they’re called exactly, but aren’t there prostitutes with kimonos? Kimonos tied in the front instead of in the back (like geisha) or whatever.
@tzhuge: That use to be the case during pre-modern Japan. I can’t really see today’s prostitutes going to the trouble (not to mention they’d really stick out like a sore thumb), but there may be a niche market for that sort of thing…
I thought Yuuno was jumping to conclusions involving Tamaki cosplaying for male pleasure, but I guess we’ll never know
.
To be honest I’m a bit worried about this plot. They are making the evil son way too cliche for my tastes, the cackling, plotting, disrespectful offspring is kind of an overdone character. The other problematic thing about the episode was the noticeable drop in animation quality during parts of it, they really skimped on it whenever characters weren’t shown up close.
However, the shrine visit was a good send-off to the end of the slice of life aspect of this show, and I really liked the final scene. Despite having doubts about whether or not Murasaki is a Kuhoin or not, he wants to protect her because she’s important to him. I think it was a big decision point that affirmed his drive, he doesn’t care what her name is, she’s precious to him.
Hope this one gets a happy ending~
@tzhuge: I haven’t heard of it before, but you could be on to something since at least to me, Yuuno is a bit old fashioned in a sense. Either way I think the connotations are the same.
@Lyi: That could be another possibility. I doubt the writers would just put that in for no apparent reason so it must have some kind of meaning that the viewers would understand.
@Calawain: I suppose the character is a bit overdone and they probably could have done something else, but nonetheless I think the rest of the story should do okay at least. I am sort of expecting a great ending so hopefully they won’t ruin it or anything. The animation quality did decline a bit from the normal this episode… more so than it has already in my opinion, but I was never hooked on Kure-nai for the animation quality (even though it does still bother me a little).
@shokkeru: indeed, the show does not provide us with good animation, but Kurenai is definitely the best show of the season, even better than Geass (to me at least)
nice blog. I would rate it but I guess there is no way to do that.
Yeah, indr0008, I’m liking Kurenai the best this season too. That’s why I’m a little concerned about the possibility of this episode signaling the end of the slice-of-life part of the show – I sure hope it doesn’t lean towards action/drama because its action and drama suck. Watching shinkurou stand around getting beat up, then bring out his weird arm thing to stand around and not get beat up has been super lame. And everytime it cuts to a shot of the kohouins kneeling in kimonos talking about their inner family politics I just die of boredom. Then it cuts to Murasaki being adorable, Tamaki being mischevious, yuuno being desperately earnest or ginko being jealous and I’m magically brought back to life. Why is it only 13 epsisodes? NOOOOOOO
