What do you have on your mp3 player?

It makes you want to raise her skirt to see if she has a tail…

The sun is high in the sky, the beaches are full with girls in bikinis and what do I have next tome me while I lay down on my beach towel? No, it’s not another girl, it’s my portable Mp3 Player. (Actually it’s my Nintendo Ds, but I use R4 flash carts to be able to play Mp3′s….and Final Fantasy Tactics A2.)

Wherever I go, I usually take my Mp3 with me, life has too many dull moments that need to be spiced up with a soundtrack, whether it’s waiting 1 hour for your food in a restaurant or it’s during your epilation sessions. (What??? I’m Fscking European and except if you are French, hairy legs and chests aren’t manly.)

So let’s take a quick peek on what kind of music I usually listen to…

1) Anime Related

It’s not surprising that I have anime related songs, considering I’m a animeblogger…. but the amount I have is rather low. I mainly have Elfen Lied Ost with the dark mood voice, some random Haruhi character songs (and the genderbender versions too) and Gurren Lagann OST. I also have some select singles like Mononoke Dance from Hakaba Kitarou and Ash Like Snow from Gundam 00. But the best I have is Return to Zero, the OST made for the Fate/Zero novels.

2) Game Related

I have quie a collection of Mp3′s on this category, ranging from OST’s to fan remixes. Normally I have the Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream, a fan made album of FF 7 arrangements from Overclock Remix, a very famous game remixes site. The songs are surprisingly good, even for the FF haters. Another constant presence is the OST’s of Melty Blood, the “game sequel” for Tsukihime. And let’s not forget the several Touhou albums that I have , including the IOSYS ones. Last, I also have Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII and Wild Arms XF OST’s, both games for the Psp.

3) Groups/Artists

I tend to listen to mostly all genres on this category; a bit of Linkin Park, a bit of Gnarls Barkley, etc. But I do have things I like most than others and a good deal of old groups too. For example, I usually have a album of two of Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, Joe Satriani, Queen, Avenged Sevenfold, among others. I also like Massive Attack, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Deftones and other similar bands. I got to remark 2 groups; first one is Machinae Supremacy, a SiD Metal band from Sweden which meshes metal, soundtrack and retro-style video game music impressively; the other one to be mentioned is Dj Sharpnel, known for his Speedcore style and for his sampling from pop culture films and anime. you got to love hearing Code Geass or Gundam inspired songs at 2000 bpm.

Well, this is just a sample of what I usually carry on my Mp3. And you guys, what do you have on your mp3 player?

I’m a European too, and no French at that and I have to say, epilating makes you part of a minority. And except for those who are professional cyclists a rather strange one for the most part.

As for my music tastes, the only anime songs I have are some four or fife songs from the Eureka Seven Soundtrack.
Apart from that it’s Daft Punk, Gigi D’Agostino, The Kooks, We Are Scientists, Mando Diao and Arctic Monkeys

    @gia: 1:nice 2: okay 3: oooo….Cirque du Soleil rocks, specially that show 4: O.o? 5: :-)

@bearzerger: I AM HAIRY. If I don’t epilate, my legs will look like a lookalike of Bigfoot. Besides, I only care during Summer.

Various cartoon and 90s live action theme songs (cuz you can’t be good theme songs)

The Small Hours, Incubus, The Mars Volta, Thursday, Armor for Sleep, Cobra Starship, Bjork, Adele and much more

The Three Tenors, Luciano Pavarotti (R.I.P.),Renee Fleming (opera gotta love it)

I don’t think I have any anime music on my iPod. I do have a bit of Japanese music but most of it is either US rock, classical, or podcasts.

Hmm I like all kinds of music and my nano is pretty much glued to me, having a soundtrack just makes my day go by so much faster.

I’m British and I’d say dehairing is a pretty normal thing for us girls to do.

Hmm lots of anime tracks ranging from my newest acquisitions from Macross Frontier to tracks from the Witchblade anime soundtrack.
Hearing Ashita no te kind of mad me a little bit sad today considering the untimely death of Michael Turner.
I always loved his art for Witchblade, that man could draw some smokin women. Its such a pity the figure they made of Black Canary based on his vision of her looks like a crack ho though.

If none of you have ever listened to any of the InuYasha movie soundtracks you should do yourselves a favor and do so. The themes for InuYasha and Kagome together are just beautiful.

The Ghost Hunt OST makes my playlist a lot too. Lets see what else, Tracks from Fullmetal Alchemist, the version of Bratja (Brothers) with choir singing is just beautiful. A lot of Yoko Kanno, and I always have some Buck Tick on there.

I have Coldplay’s latest effort on there, some Cobra Starship, Paramore, Matchbox Twenty, Metallica, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Craig David, Katy Perry.

Ahh I’ll be here all day but there’s a snippet.

@D.J: I’m a guy :-p Witchblade isn’t my thing, I prefer other characters like Deadpool or Wolverine, which are more based on the wacky/Dark personalities.

Ohhh Foo Fighters…forgot to mention them too.

I have a whole bunch of crap on me iPod (movie/video game soundtracks, YTMND stuff, oldies, anime OSTs) Right now though for my running play list it’s being utterly dominated by Macross Frontier, mostly Ranka stuff. I can’t get enough of Seikan Hikou…

The Police will always have a spot on it though.

  11. Posted June 30, 2008 at 5:44 pm | Permalink

hmm… I’m prett all over from Final Fantasy OSTs to Nickelback to Ikimono Gakari to Kelly Clarkson… and random places in between. Recently, I got Rain stuck in my head (but so far, I think it’s a good thing).
So basically, I’m into pop, R&B, soft rock, and everything Nobuo Uematsu-related.

LOL, well I still don’t think the shaving thing is weird. I don’t mind a bit of hair on a guys face, but minimum on the body is nice :)

Lucky for you Deadpool is in the Wolverine movie next year ^-^ Dark personalities are cool, that’s why I love Bats so much, I’m looking forward to the Dark Knight.

Will anyone here be reviewing Gotham Knight the animated shorts?

Yes you must love the FOO! ^-^

Crusader I have that single on my nano as well as some stuff from the OST. If I sing Watashi wa Kare no Pilot one more time I think Hubby-sama might go insane!

I have The Police in my Itunes library, they just aren’t on the player at the mo. I’ve always loved how girls adore Every Breath You Take, going oooooh its such a romantic tune. Or, or, he’s being stalkerish! Either way classic tune and I didn’t enjoy the Puff Daddy remix of Roxanne, leave it be Combs, leave it be!

Everything in my player’s Japanese music. Most of my music are Jrock/Jpop (Bump of Chicken, Radwimps etc.), followed by anime music, although I’m listening to the former most of the time.

My phone suffices for an mp3 player despite only holding 21 max. songs. I really have to get a new card for it or suffer changing songs every week. So here’s what I generally have at most times, from most on my playlist to least:

1 – Select artists — Mostly Bump of Chicken reprises anywhere, though Nana Mizuki, Kuraki Mai and Younha show up somewhat often (though the last more often with her Korean songs). Bump of Chicken is my favorite because of the well-written lyrics and the fact that the vocalist sings in his natural voice, giving it a nice rough sound as well as making Live performances sound very good in comparison to most artists.
2 – Game songs — Mostly Tales of… series songs *being the fangirl that I am*, like “Nininsankyaku” by Misono, “Yume de aru Youni” by DEEN, “Say Goodbye and Good Day” by KOKIA. “My Tales” from Tales of Legendia, being an english-language song (sung by people who are fluent in english~) is a very good song, but the file size doesn’t allow me to keep it on there at all times even though I want to. Sometimes a catchy instrumental song will find its way into my phone.
3 – Anime songs — Macross Frontier rules this month with a whopping 5/21 chunk taken, though “BORN” from Le Chevalier d’Eon has almost always been on my phone. Somehow “Anna ni issho datta no ni” is still in there *has to get that one out*. Also starring about 4 Bleach anime songs, one being “My Pace” for when I feel down, the other being “Houkiboushi” and the other two from the Byakuya and Rukia character song single released recently. Oh yeah — there’s the Vampire Knight OP.
4 – Musicals whut — They’re mostly there for laughs, but some of the Bleach and Prince of Tennis musical songs are actually pretty catchy. Though only one song, “Kawaranai Kimochi”, from the Bleach Musical has been a constant. (amazingly corny, yet cute and catchy at the same time)
    5 – Some Chinese songs from a C-drama I loved watching when I was a kid.

I bring my Ipod everywhere I go, it’s better to forget my wallet than forget to bring my songs.. :P

About 200 songs inside.. though I want bigger player so I don’t have to select songs from my CDs.. I prefer listening to albums as a whole, but can’t fit the small 2 GB..

    - Artists: Mizuki Nana (70+) and Okui Masami (50+) are my goddesses.
The rest are pretty balanced (10+): Kuribayashi Minami, Suara, angela, Jyukai, Tamura Yukari, Momoi Halko.. also can’t get rid of tiaraway and Under17.
Fewer songs (<10): Horie Yui, Chihara Minori, savage genius, Ishikawa Chiaki, etc.
Normal J-Pop artists: Chara (I used to be her fangirl, so still got quite a number of her songs), Do As Infinity, and few Nakashima Mika.

    - Anime-related: the artists I like are mostly anime singers/seiyuu, so yeah.. but other than their songs, I put OP/ED/OST that I like at the moment. Nyan Furo has been in the playlist for quite a while now.

Yeah, also a Nana Mizuki fan. And Okui Masaki is fantastic.
Most of my music is anime-related with as favorites Nana Mizuki and Jam Project.
I’ve got a few game music songs from Tales of Symphonia, Chaos Legion and Chrono Cross.
    And the rest is Jpop.
However I’ve got also some pictures on my mp3, which nobody is allowed to touch.

  21. Posted June 30, 2008 at 10:31 pm | Permalink

Way too many to list at the moment, but one thing’s for sure, anime and video game music are a staple. While the playlist varies from time to time, artists like KOTOKO and Nana Mizuki will always have a special place.
