The entry by Ruki is one of the most beautiful entries I have seen about Aria. For the many of us who has not been able to visit the true Venice, he brings us a glimpse of the place including making some picture-perfect shots of real life scenes that have appeared in the anime.
Describing this beautiful entry is pretty much a futile attempt, so visit his entry and enjoy the pictures.

@LDC: Yes, they are. In fact, that is not a long time ago anyway. Nonetheless, I am a keen lover of architecture. My travels to Portugal opened my eyes to a very old but beautiful city in Lisbon. I wish sometimes that I have the chance to go there.
@Krebmarkt: So it seems. It’s strange that ruki can make such a nice set of pictures reflecting with the images in the anime. Just beautiful stuff. I recommend everyone to go read his entry.

Aria is of course one of the reasons which I went but it was a holiday for me as well, haven’t been for two years lol.

I think that is, because they tend to model those scenes after the common post card motives of the place.
I have noticed this a couple of times. For example in “Tsukuyomi Moon Phase”, the town near the castle where Hazuki is picked up is modelled after my grandmothers birth-town (Rothenburg o. T.). Some of the stills they show are 1:1 copies of postcards I have, others can be found on the town’s website.
So it would be easy to find matching pictures… of course in this case Ruki actually went there and took photos.
If I ever went to Venice, I’d do it with a laptop containing all of ARIA and a DSLR rofl
Venice is indeed beautiful, words alone cannot describe it. I’ve been to Venice myself for three days, and it’s just an awesome experience. I’m almost thinking of studying there haha…
Sadly I haven’t found the time and motivation to write about it yet and to show the hundreds of pictures I shot, but after seeing Ruki’s post I wonder if that’s even needed, he shows almost everything I want to show T_T (and also gets the due exposure here xDD)
I can only recommend anyone to go to Venice. ARIA fan or not – you will love it.
