Code Geass R2, Episode 17- A Taste Of Soil

You’re both idiots this time

This week was not as combat-oriented as the previews may have led us to believe, but theoretically next week will be. The episode mostly focused on Suzaku and Lelouch’s meeting and the consequences that followed. In the end it feels more like another setup episode for how it’s going to all play out in the final showdown.

As Kaguya and the Knight of One explain to us, the basic setup is that whomever wins in Japan (OotBK or Brittania) takes all the marbles. I wonder how Kaguya’s storyline is going to play out. I mean, judging by how Lelouch’s identity has become much less secure now, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world and the Black Knights figure it out too. Will she stay with him despite knowing what he’s done and knowing of geass? She knew him when she was much younger when they met at the shrine, and she seems so dedicated to Zero. But on the other hand she really wants to free Japan, so I’m not sure who she will stand with in the end.

As I said last week, Bradley is a pretty weak stereotypical character who has close to little chance of living to see the end of the series. His KMF is pretty neat though, I’m digging those rapid-fire Hadron cannons.

This episode really showed me how underhanded Schniezel is. He’s the type of person who smiles a lot and is able to convince people that he’s a nice guy who cares about them, all while plotting in the background to take advantage of everyone for his own goals. He’s shaping up to be quite the villain, although he has nowhere near the awesomeness factor of batty Charles and his facial expressions. I have little doubt he’s willing to use Nunally to beat Lelouch by threatening her or anything else.

Rifts continue to open in the Black Knights, many of whom are only in this to liberate Japan and not to beat Brittania for good. I don’t think a lot of them are willing to go beyond that, no matter how much it may be in their best interests for the future. Toudou probably understands that the best out of all of them though.

Ougi is useful because he’s relatively useless? Ok I guess I can buy that for know Diethard.

Random moe shot of C.C., me likey

This conversation was pretty powerful and had a lot of underlying subtext. Suzaku is trying to outsource his anger onto Lelouch so he can blame him for everything that has gone wrong. He even steps on a begging Lelouch in his rage, trying to blame Lelouch rather than accept that he failed to protect people. Suzaku has done little in the way of accomplishing his own goals, failing at multiple points along the way. Lelouch is letting Suzaku blame him, even lying or pushing the truth to its limits in order to allow Suzaku to truly hate him. I can understand the motivations on each side for doing this, but it does make for a frustrating watch because you just want to see everything get worked out.

The Galahad was pretty pimp, but it has to be if it’s the Knight of One’s KMF. What happened to Xing Ke’s KMF, isn’t it supposed to be the almighty badass machine that kills everything? I guess that title only lasts for a few episodes per mech it’s assigned to~

Suzaku continues to impose impossible and unreasonable requests and demands on Lelouch. Asking him to bring back dead people, stop a war, and join him to do god knows what. And again, it’s all stemming from his own guilt and anger over being geass’d to live rather then just die and escape his sins. He’s enraged that he has to continue to bear them.

Wonderful emo facial contortion as usual Lelouch. Suzaku is such a moron sometimes, getting followed by a huge amount of soldiers and even KMFs. Poor Lelouch put his body, pride, and everything he had on the line and to him, Suzaku crushed it with his betrayal. It doesn’t really matter that we all know Suzaku didn’t mean it, because he’s too stupid and somewhat honest to arrange something like that.

Please step away from my woman Gino, and do not come back again!

I had always imagined Lelouch revealing himself to Schniezel and seeing a surprised look on his face, so I kinda raged a bit at how this worked out. Makes me dislike Schniezel even more, as he feeds Lelouch falsely comforting words that Lelouch tosses aside knowing how hollow they are.

It’s kind of sad when he goes in expecting to be betrayed somehow and it still happens. Guilford sure got suckered though, not sure how his storyline with Cornelia is going to play out from now on.

The Emperor is certainly making his moves, and despite what that useless Suzaku revealed to Schniezel about geass, the Emperor is still way ahead of the game. Suzaku didn’t know the whole truth, that’s for sure. Schniezel is definitely going to plot against his father, but it won’t be so easy. Uniting all of those geass-related sites in the world and something about the Ragnarok (which was mentioned as far back as episode 1) means some shit is going to go down on the supernatural front.

Looking badass as usual

Reference episode 13 for the first hints of this plan to shut Tokyo down. It’s pretty much guaranteed that this plan will not go keikaku doori because Schniezel is on the ball about it. I’m predicting heavy character deaths in the upcoming battle episode over Tokyo.

Orange-kun gets a new badass mech that uses those nervous system connection thingies. It’s widely speculated that this one or maybe his next mech is the space-borne one in the OP, but either way I want to see Orange-kun kick some Brittanian ass. At least we know he won’t betray Lelouch even if his identity gets out into the public.

BAD IDEA HOLY SHIT. Sending the guy that killed Shirley because she dropped Nunally’s name in to rescue Nunally? Not your finest tactical decision Lelouch.

Suzaku’s betrayal deeply hurts Lelouch and appears to send him on a much darker path than he was in episode 7 when he wanted to make Ashford a super happy place for everyone. I don’t think it will be dark Lelouch in the end, but he will be a “demon king” for the time being it seems.

This is really creepy, especially the way his voice sounds so excited.

Um, more like you should be worried about using a strategic weapon on Tokyo and killing millions of your own people rather than being worried about using it on just Lelouch. He seems to forget more and more about his original purpose in saving the Japanese and instead obsesses over Lelouch.

As I mentioned before this episode become more setup for the upcoming showdown in episode 18, and was heavy in foreshadowing future developments. Next week we finally get some sustained combat scenes as the showdown over Tokyo gets underway. It’s nice to have setup, but I can’t help but continue to wish we’d just get along with the good stuff by now.

Next Episode:

Really low quality extended preview of episode 18.

Massive KMF battles over Tokyo, Suzaku in Lancelot facing down Lelouch in Shinkirou, an ambiguous shot of Nunally. From the extended preview it appears that Luciano ensnares the Shinkirou, a new orange-looking mech that’s probably Orange-kun’s appears, Rolo and Sayoko infiltrate Tokyo, and Lelouch says he will save Kallen.

Crusader’s Angry Drunken Rant

Alright decisive battle bullshit! One Guadalcanal, Midway, Marianas Turkey Shoot, Phillipine Sea, Leyte Gulf, Sibuyan Sea, Surigao Straight, and Samar to go! So Eleven Loli would you like a Iwo Jima and Okinawa with that or do you wish to upgrade to a Nagasaki and Hiroshima? August Storm is now 60% off…This is literally a fire sale! All Freyas must go…

There can be no forgiveness only WAR!

May your drill pierce the heavens!

Well that sure was pretty even if military sensibilities fell to the way side as Area 11 became the center of the universe again. In any case at least Britannia showed some skill in attacking the Federation everywhere knowing that the Federation had to be weak somewhere. Knight of Ten is fucking awesome may his drill pierce the heavens! I look forward to the Knight of Ten getting a King Kittan ending by stealing a kiss from Kallen. Oh and it looks like Gino is about to steal Calawain’s waifu, serves him right for being a traitor. Thankfully all of the new Knight of Rounds acquitted themselves nicely, and hopefully soon we shall have a big boom in Area 11!

Did you say Excalibur?

Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner.

Bradley is Borg

Given that it’s an Eleven I am assuming its a dakimakura…

Things look grim as Lulu confessed to everything and was caught on tape. Looks like the way things are going the Black Knights might finally get sick of being tools for an emo prince. Diethard isn’t helping matters by bullying Ougi though I really don’t care about either of them and think that they had some hot yaoi s3x while Villeta was forced to watch, I trust she fapped duriously. Poor Cornelia remains tied up and her men are being abused by the bastardly Lulu. Not even Todou seems keen on keeping Lulu after the war though he is quickly become big dumb barbarian who can’t think for himself. I have to say its kind of sad to see Li being little more that Toudo Mk II, he didn’t even have a just as planned moment…

Okay hold still you won’t feel a thing…

That tooth is coming out buddy…

Now open your mouth all the way…

Sorry but your dental plan did not cover anesthesia… now for the filling.

Not much to say about the confirmation of a SuzakuxLulu ending though it was good to see Lulu face plant like that. The yaoi was just searing my eyes…though it was good to see Lulu cry some more. I hope he cries even more when Rollo kills Nunnally.

Cry some more…

Fake Tears.

Prince Bradley al Sarshes Feyd “Sting” Rautha at your service. Oh I am thinking of starting a taxi service, need a lift? I also deal in train parts…

One last thing, a speech from the Immortal Emperor Charles Wakamoto:

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Area 11, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend “our” Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the Britannian Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old. ALL HAIL BRITANNIA!

    Those were TRUE TEARS! When are they going to show how Ougi survived and dragged Viletta back? Also, Suzaku is gonna be feeling even more and more guilty. He really should have joined Lelouch’s forces when he had the chance.

    Good to know I’m not the only one thinking that next episode Rolo will be giving Lulu an excuse like: “I wanted to save Nunally but her leg twitched and it looked like she was concealing a gun so I shot her in the head … twice … and once in the chest just to make sure … you still love me, right Onii-chan ???”
    Oh and Kallen needs to be saved ASAP.
    And more C.C.

    really i m not sure but could someone correct me if i m wrong Bombzaku knows freya is a bomb but he does not know how powerful it is right?

    if Kaguya learns that Zero is Lulu she might still be with him but if she hears the Lulu and Bombzaku’s conversation of him owning up to the incident with Euphie well the chances are really dim

    Really Lulu is to kind to his friends he did not even explain the circumstances between Euphie and Shirley’s death rather he took it all onto himself to carry the guilt and burden of both incidents

    i can hardly wait for the next ep i hope someone makes a gif of Bombzaku’s expression when he realizes what he has done

    This episode certainly wasn’t as action-filled as I was hoping, but it does look quite a bit like a primer for next week. Overall, not a bad episode. Code Geass has yet to disappoint me. I’m also surprisingly curious to see what happens between Ougi and Viletta. Now that they are basically on the same side, will they get back together? On a side note, I’m also pumped to see some action in the next episode. Each side seems to constantly one-up each other as far as KNF technology, which is kind of annoying, but creates the potential for a good deal of awesomeness. My hopes are still high for some action!

    @Calawain

    I think you have to take the conversation in as it goes along, not one jumbled lump at the end. There was the just and neccessary airing of legitimate grievances, emotional flagelation, Suzaku going “What the hell? I’ve heard a rant like this before. This is emotional flagelation. God, I must be annoying to people.”, and then the sincere imparting of coping mechanisms. Lelouch was a goddamn emotional wreck, and once Suzaku figured out what was going on he sold him on how he himself survived being a goddamn emotional wreck. And for the record, I think “de-escalate this already” was pretty much the only non-Lulu-effn’-PAYS-and-THIS-time-its-gonna-TAKE-by-the-kamis solution that’s morally acceptable. Or stood to work, without Lulu spending the rest of his life as a loose-cannon sociopath or Suzaku spitting on a few hundred thousand peoples graves.

    Then of course it all went to hell, but there’s this thing where the rest of the world doesn’t sit idly by while you do stuff. Schneizel has his goals too, ya know.

    @general

    Who the hell makes the opening campaign of a global war a 50/50 ‘we pull this off or it’s over’ crapshoot? /Can/ such things exist? Barbarossa, people. Britania is big. It’s frickn’ huge. The UFN is frickn’ huge. There just /ain’t/ gonna be a one-punch knockout short of political disenigration and guess what? Britannia has a 200-years-of-political-legitimacy core area the size of a goddamn /continent/, and the UFN is a month-old house of cards. The Japanese expidition is the /worst/ thing they could have done. It is literally worse than doing nothing.

    Like all lunatics Lulu felt that “We have only to kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down.” ;)

    At least Britannia was wise enough to try and stop it at the beaches and hold the heavy armor in reserve. So far they’re the only ones making any military sense.

    @Crusader

    What has me psyched is that Britannia was wise enough to give Area 11 it’s reinforcements and say ‘good bloody luck guys’, and leave it at that. Britannia’s won the war already because realisticly speaking all Bismark’s army has to do is take time to die. That’s a given, even leaving aside “There is one combat effective unit in the schwerplunkt, but he’s kind of pissed off and is packing nukes.” factor. Lancelot only has to immolate and Brittania gets their Area 11 operational victory conditions. They literally /can’t/ lose at this point. /Total/ casualties and they still don’t lose… Lulu got kind of iffy on the difference between strategy and tactics and it’s going to cost.

    @self

    No, I’m being uncharitable again. What Lulu got iffy on is the difference between an operation, a campaign, and a war, which better men have done and will do, time without end. But then again, he has surrounded himself with japs and strikes me as a Napoleon-worshiper. Winners are willing to lose big as many times as they have to, and Lulu just ain’t. He flies apart and starts ranting how the volk have failed him.

    @Kabitzin

    Probably not, the how seems a bit minor at this point, we know they both lived and Diethard is in control for now.

    @SlothMaster

    I say it’s a bad idea, but I’m not sure how far Rolo will go. Killing Shirley is one thing, but Nunally is another step up and I don’t think that she can die this early. If she’s dying it’s going to happen near the end and not with several episodes left.

    @Onizuka

    He should know it’s a strategic grade weapon, just look at the conversation he had with Nina, Cecile, and Lloyd last episode about mounting it.

    @CerebralDivinity

    Next week should be action-packed, they shouldn’t disappoint this time.

    @Jack

    I think my analysis still stands as looking at the conversation as a whole.

    As for your second point, this is a limited episode TV show, we don’t have time for 5 year wars. So yes, boiling it down into one decisive battle makes for superior television time wise and drama build-up wise. It would be silly to drag it out further. Remember it’s only television.

    @CJ

    Even if he uses it on Lelouch there is no way he’s going to actually die from it. The defensive abilities of the Shikirou make a convenient device for ensuring Lelouch’s survival once Freya is used.

    Effn’ Geass will never be honored with my Serious Business or a spell check until Sayoko takes off that damn meido cap when going on cobmat missions and changes out of that butt floss. Still, they’ve time-skipped before- the Chinese Federation wasn’t re-conquered in a day it was systematially reduced one province at a time by lantern-jawed expatriate Samurai in floating fortress and logistics-center as they rubbed their superior strategic mobility in asia’s collective faces. An army that can show up to ten times the battles is as good as ten, even better since it can refuse any battle it won’t win easily. They could cover half a year easy with the remaining episodes at that pace, enough so that even Kallen could take a look at things and see where they’re likely to end up.

    That’s why I said, and I quote: “Unfortanetely his KNF is too hax and has like invulnerable shield soooooo I believe deus ex machinima will save his ass.” so yeah plus I doubt suzaku would use it against him unless Lelouch did something that would really mind fuck him and make him go nina crazy, I don’t know what it could be but yeah that’s what I think. Oh and kallen will escape next episode or it seems like it cuz they need her for the battle ^.^. One last thing. WTH LELOUCH you don’t send psycho little brothers to save your sister didn’t you learn anything from shirley’s death?

    The way I see it, Suzaku’s going to be overpowered, with all weapons stripped from him except for the Freya. He’s about to take a killer blow, and Lelouch’s “live on” geass kicks in. And he ends up creating a crater in what was once Tokyo.

    And I share similar sentiments regarding Rolo’s responsibility of rescuing Nunnally. Lelouch… have you become so “cold and inhumane” that you can’t even remember what that fag did to Shirley?

    Hahaha, SuzaLulu ending confirmed. This even beats the latest chapter cover of Naruto. But with regards to the conversation between them, before the episode aired I didn’t give it much thought. It seemed a given that Lelouch would explain the circumstances behind Euphie and Shirley’s deaths. Although I’ve seen a lot of debate elsewhere on what would’ve been the best option i.e tell the straight truth or just stop making excuses and take all the blame, I guess the ultimate result had to be a bigger shitstorm regardless. So while it was frustrating to watch the scene, especially the interruption, now I want to see the next episodes even more. Sunraisu victory :(

    I had to watch this episode twice. Looking back there are a few things that I’ve noticed.

    Suzaku taking the moral high ground because he’s “tired of lying to Nunnally”, even though this is the same guy who killed his own father, betrayed his best friend and sold out his country. Way to be a hypocrit, Scumzaku.

    At the end of the episode, Suzaku seems pretty convinced that he’ll have to use Freya on Lelouch, eventhough earlier in the episode he was willing to work WITH Lelouch to save Nunnally. Now, how do you go from working with someone to bombing them in the span of a day? Ironically, Lelouch was willing to work with Suzaku for world peace and Suzaku stands idly by and watches while Lelouch gets taken away. Scumzaku sells Lelouch out not once, but twice. Lelouch has now learned from this lesson and will count on no one but himself (rightly so).

    This episode shows that Lelouch always has a back-up plan. Eventhough he really bet on Suzaku’s LOLMorals to help Nunnally, he also knew that Suzaku has already sold him out once and had Guilford as a contingency plan to rescue him.

    This episode also seems to indicate that Ougi was ready to leave the Black Knights altogether and run away with Viletta (imo). Ougi has changed vastly from a true believer of Lelouch’s to a lovestruck puppy. Diethard played a masterful hand in capturing Viletta and blackmailing Ougi to stay with the Black Knights. While Ougi may be useless, he was the commander of the rebellion before Lelouch came along. A lot of the Black Knights trust Ougi. He may be functionally useless but he holds a lot of value as a symbol.

    With Nunnally and the rest of the Royals in Tokyo, in the middle of the frontlines, what’s going to be the casualty rate? What kind of retarded strategy is it, to have your government in the middle of a warzone?

    Gino looks like he’s more sympathetic to Kallen’s situation than Suzaku. He may be her eventual escape route.

    Schneizel is turning out to be very similar to Lelouch, using Nunnally and Suzaku as pawns to get more control in the imperial arena. His last line is eerily creepy “now all the cards are in my hands”.

    I think this episode really wraps up most of the ‘emotional drama’ and the following episodes will mostly focus on epic battles between Lelouch and Britannia with casualties mounting on both sides.

    The previews show the new “Lancelot Albion” in front of Lelouch’s mech so there’s bound to be a showdown there. I am eager to see the effects of Lelouch’s Gefjin Disturber tactic on his greater battle plan. We already know, even with Xing Ke, the Black Knights are useless without Lelouch’s guidance. It’s always the same, fail fail fail and then Lelouch shows up and they start winning.

    Despite nearly getting slapped last episode, C.C. looks positively euphoric staring listlessly at her band-aid like it’s a wedding ring. OMG GOSHUJINSAMA PURESENTO!!

    Lastly, wtf at sending ROLO of all people to rescue Nunnally. Rolo. Sometimes I want to slap the shit out of Lelouch for being retarded. Yes, let’s send the person who killed Shirley at the mere mention of Nunnally’s name to rescue Nunnally. Good Job Lelouch. /facepalm.

    It looks like most of the ‘drama’ plot has concluded (C2′s origin, Shirley’s one-sided love story, lelouch and suzaku’s friendship/rivalry/enmity, ashford academy, Nina’s role as the new Oppenheimer), the only things that seem open-ended in terms of dorama are KallenxLelouch and Nunnally’s role in the series.

    I’m really excited to see this series get back to what it’s really about. The core fundamentals of strategic battles of epic proportion with twists and counters and giant mech fights.

  24. Posted August 4, 2008 at 10:08 am | Permalink

    @Jack

    But by complaining about the unrealistic nature of the invasion you are doing exactly that, treating it with serious business. It’s not serious, it’s an entertainment TV show.

    @CJ

    Yeah, I just rephrased it a bit differently, I read what you wrote :p

    And I don’t think Lelouch knows Rolo killed Shirley partially because she dropped Nunally’s name, just that he killed her to protect Lelouch’s identity.

    @Hyzen

    Ali is much, much more charming then Bradley. He has a certain flare and enjoyment of battle rather than just bloodlust and stereotypical evil.

    @Jackdaniels

    Oh it’s going to go off somehow, whether that’s Schniezel/Nina setting it off remotely or an enraged Suzaku dropping it on Lelouch.

    @Justam

    Mmmm I suppose that’s one way to do it, although I don’t think Lelouch possesses a KMF that could defeat the Lancelot unless Kallen escapes in the super Guren.

    @Omisyth

    The cast is way too large, we need to start culling the herd next episode. Hopefully it’s mostly people we hate =)

    @Ruk

    I don’t think Suzaku would have bought the real story, thinking Lelouch was just making it up to save himself. Instead he just assumed blame hoping Suzaku would agree to save Nunally.

    @Halycon

    Suzaku being a moron explains most of your observations, heh.

    Mmmm Ougi being just a lovesick puppy, I like that characterization.

    While Schniezel is using the same methods as Lelouch, don’t forget how different their goals are. Schniezel wants to be emperor for his own power while Lelouch is doing it for his own justice and to save Nunally.

    Yeah I think the band-aid/ring imagery was intentional.

    @Calawain

    Did they ever show what happened to the remaining female Knights of Round? Are they being dispatched against the UN from the western flank? I don’t even think they ever got a proper introduction yet. I think they got maybe 1 or 2 lines as background characters in 1 episode and haven’t been seen since.

    The other thing is, with Lelouch’s renewed determination and, frankly, psychotic break, do you think Sunrise will ever get around to answering what exactly happened to Marianne? Who really was behind her assassination (Perhaps Charles?)? At first, it looked like V.V. might be behind it (V.V. seemed really pissed @ Lelouch for being a ‘child of Marianne’ and equally pissed @ Orange-kun for his loyalty to Marianne) but he got killed off before we could get a definitive answer.

    With the next few episodes being battle-heavy (17-20 at the very least), and the end approaching fast (I figure ep 23-24 to set up the end for 25-26), there’s not really much room to wrap up remaining plot threads. Marianne’s unusual death was one of Lelouch’s primary motivations in Season 1. It seems they’ve kind of downplayed that a lot during this season.

    Also, it doesn’t look like C2 will be regaining her memories at all. They’ve kinda pushed her character into the background as well unless there’s an upcoming plothax we’re unaware of. From what I can tell it looks like it’s going to be LelouchxKallen for the next few episodes followed by the Search for Nunnally followed by stopping the Emperor’s Ragnarok. For as much screen time as Schneizel has had this season he really doesn’t seem to contribute much to the overall plot of CG.

    I hope we get to see the space battles foretold in the opening sequence!!! Otherwise, it’ll be a major slap in teh face.

    I REALLY don’t get why Lelouch didn’t go, ‘Oh hey, Euphemia? Not my fault. That was a joke. Her fault for taking it so seriously.’ or, ‘Shirley? Psycho gay-brother, not me.’

    I get more and more reluctant to watch Geass everytime, not because it’s bad but because every episode I have a foreboding feeling that someone I like will get shafted in the next episode.

    Yeah you’re right he doesn’t know that he killed shirley because she mentioned nunally but still even I know that sending traumatized “little brothers” to save your sister spells disaster. But I think super maido is with him due to the preview so I think lulu told her to kill him if things got out of hands. Also watching the preview again I noticed, now, that lancelot is infront of the shinkirou so I’m guessing that something like this will happen
    Kallen: “sure I’ll join you”
    Gino: “yay here you go super guren”
    Kallen: “thanks now explode”
    Gino: “what?”
    *boom*
    XP
    Kallen: “now to save zero”
    OMGWTFBBQ HAX KNF TOO POWERFULL CAN SHOOT SUPER MEGA LASAH
    yay black knights win next episode but the episode later
    Shneizel: “just as planned” *reveals plan*
    so that’s what I think but it’s still a work in progress.

    Sunrise probably didn’t do that cuz Suzaku would’ve joined lulu and really the rest of the plot would’ve been a failure considering suzaku is Jesus in code geass and with lulu just as planned plans it would’ve been too easy.

    Think about that for a minute. How believable would it be for Lelouch to say “Whoops, my Geass went off by accident! I didn’t mean to command her to kill thousands of Japanese in the stadium” or “Hey, you know your own Intelligence Division Office who’s supposed to be keeping an eye on me for Britannia? Yeah, he’s the one who killed Shirley, not me”.

    From Suzaku’s perspective, the truth is more unbelievable than the lie. Suzaku doesn’t know that the Geass can grow to the point where it goes out of control. Suzaku also doesn’t know that Rolo has betrayed Britannia and switched to Lelouch’s side or that Rolo has a Geass.

    And even still, Lelouch’s point to meeting with Suzaku wasn’t to make up it was to get Suzaku to save Nunnally. He doesn’t care if Suzaku hates him as long as he promised to save Nunnally.

    IMO, Suzaku really dropped the ball on this episode by not trying to explain himself to Lelouch when Lelouch was detained in the SUV. He had a chance to minimize the fallout and he kind of let Lelouch fall by the wayside. From Lelouch’s perspective it really does look like Scumzaku sold him out…AGAIN.

    That plus the writing on this show is just plain terrible. Remember when the Emperor let Lelouch go just so they could catch C.C in Ep 1? Then we find out C.C just wants to die… WTF was the point of catching her then? It had absolutely nothing to do with the Emperor’s plan to use Ragnarok to slay the gods.

    This show is written by monkeys. But I’ll keep tuning in until the fanservice/drama/mecha battles stop.

    He wanted C.C. for her code that’s why he needed to catch her. He ended up taking V.V.’S cuz he lied to him but I wonder if he could have 2 codes cuz apparently he took C2′s as well.

    Lelouch probably sent Rolo into the middle of the freakin barracks or somewhere where’s he equally likely to get shot like seventy bigillion times. Or more likely, he’ll get a kuni between the third and fourth spinal discs with a note attached that says “from your friendly neighborhood supermaid”.

    I get the feeling that Sunrise is trying to make Suzaku look more innocent for the ending… I don’t know how it’s coming up, did it really seem like Suzaku would be pittied.

    And after what he done to Lulu now (intentionally or unintentionally..I agrre with u, calawain)he is more on my bad side now!!!
    Suzaku’s betrayal was the last nothing Lulu needed.

    @Halycon

    No they haven’t been shown yet. One of them is supposed to have a connection with Cornelia, so we may see her when Cornelia appears more. But the last boy and girl have yet to appear more than in passing.

    Yes they will get around to it, probably the very last couple of episodes.

    @Skoll

    Once again, not really believable for Suzaku most likely.

    @CJ

    That would be awesome, go Kallen =)

    @Halycon

    Like CJ said, he wanted her code. Whether it gives him any extra benefit since he already has VV’s code we don’t know. Whether it’s super ultra immortality, or just to piss Lelouch off…

    @Jeph

    For the most part he’s going to use Rolo to his advantage because he said he’s becoming more cold and calculated. Killing him over Shirley would not be in line with his new “demon king” personality.

    @Emmi

    Suzaku has multiple types of plot armor, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he got nice in the ending =/

    More unbelievable than an eye that shoots mind-control lasers? Aside from that, it seemed to me like Suzaku read Leleouch on several of those lies. A more plausible explanation would be that he wants (?) Suzaku to blame him for some reason and gives him what he wants.

    Anyway, I wouldn’t have jumped to conclusions once Britannian mecha started popping up out of nowhere. Speaking of which, one has to wonder how such enormous mecha sneak up on people such that they can get RIGHT OVER them and form a ring. Puzzling.

    I never did think mechs in Geass retained their “killer machine that kills everything status” for more than about…5 episodes at best?

    I have a prediction: everything is going to fall apart in the end for Lelouch and everyone is going to die. Lovely isn’t it? And the Emperor is totally getting ready to blow up the world.

    I finally watched this series… I HATE suzaku, I can’t explain how much I hate him now, he stepped on Lulu like… he is—

    For some reason I like Lulu more after this epi, how can he put his pride on line for his sister. He didn’t try to defend him, he didn’t use geass on Euphy on purpose and Shirley was not killed by him, ughhh…

    Dunno if you’re gonna rewatch CG ever again, but if you still believe Cornelia was “poor” and Lelouch “emo”, Crusader, you might want to check out Stage 7 again. Cornelia massacred civilian Elevens in a ghetto in order to draw out Zero. Her only concern regarding them? Drop in productivity.
