Shikabane Hime: Aka ,Yozakura Shijuusou , To Aru Majutsu no Index ,Linebarrel and the Tales Of anime seem good…I also KNOW everyone will be watching Gundam 00 (more Ali and Graham ? FUCK YEAH!!! ).
Must admit, there are quite a few shows out there.
PS: Thumbs up to Crusader blogging Gundam 00.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
It seems that Fall is the season for awesome animu. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up with all the things I’ll want to watch. I’ll be counting on you guys to provide some quality guidance.
God damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. It may be possible that “anime of the year” candidates will all come from fall/winter season with a strong leaning towards fall.
damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. I’m going to need to either clean out my HD or get some burnable DVDs.
Ahhh, Impz. I wondered if you’d read Skip Beat or not. I see you have. Awesome, isn’t it?
What’s even more awesome is that they got Miyano Mamoru (Light, Death the Kid, Tamaki) to voice Shou, and Katsuyuki Konishi (Haji, Komui, Asano) to voice Ren. And Kyouko is voiced by that girl who did Iku in Toshokan Sensou. (your seiyuu list is completely wrong. See Scrumptious Anime Blog for the real details)
And it’s headed by the director and studio that did Princess Tutu.
THIS WILL BE AWESOME!!
Holy hell I did not know Clannad II or whatever was airing…
Thank you L-chan. The oversights regarding Skip Beat‘s seiyuu have been fixed.
My head is spinning @_@ I think I’m in heaven…!
l-chan: anything with Inoue Marina is awesome.
Hmm.. wow, not really looking forward to to many of these this season, but who knows maybe there will be a few that surprise me.
Hey, I don’t think this is fair. How come everyone’s bashing Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka just because it’s an eroge adaption but no one treate ef a tale of memories the same way? It’s an eroge adaption too! I mean, I AM looking forward to ef more than akane, but why be so quick to judge?
Kurogane no Linebarrel, Casshern SINS, Hyakko and Chaos; Head would be what I am catching this season I guess. Thanks again for the updates, guys & gals.
Kuroshitsuji isn’t really shota or BL. Sebastian is so awesome and it’s in no way like Hayate, or pretending to be. Much like Antique Bakery, I think the pure FABULOUS of Kuroshitsuji will scare most people away from a great story. It’s a shame.
As for what I’ll watch. I can’t decide yet.
Might give fighting Shounen…one last chance
“It’s Artland, therefore, it will plainly suck.”
Are you sure Mushishi is the only good series they’ve produced?
Far out, i had never had the problem of having no shows to look forward to at Fall. What’s with the million sequel to shows that I don’t want to watch. Either it is too young, a sequel, boring mecha, bad animation or just don’t let them get too close to me.
God, the lack of shows to watch makes me want to vomit out my afternoon tea.
Ahaha, I don’t know whether I want to laugh or cry. There’s a load I want to see (or at least check out) but I’ll be going to University this September so I won’t have the time. Damn, why couldn’t they have shown all these shows during summer when I had time off? Oh well.
(What’s wrong with the BL? (Except for the fact the boys are so adrogynous they might as well be chicks without boobs.) It’s just as bad (or good) as yuri. I watch both BTW)
Aka reminds of Blade of the Immortal, except with an SMG.
Not sure what to check out. I do action and some action that blends with other genres. Right now, Gundam 00′s in my list. Not sure of Chaos, Aka and Chaos. I might see Casshern. Probably Ga-rei-zero too since it’s a government-sanctioned agency, which reminds me of Martin Mystery but the Center’s independent. I guess Yozakura’s in the list.
Hoping for an anime with guns and all. XP
Gah, nothing I see rawks my world. I guess I’ll just have to live off of OVAs.
HOLY FUCK CHAOS;HEAD, Toradora and ef are going to be made of win
Ahah, Glad to see I am not the only one who adores and whorship evil overlord kyoko-sama.This is going to be awesome.
Kurozuka is going to be intresting, the story was really weird and quite bloody.If you’re in hyper-violent stuff, it’s for you.Expect to see heads roll,still it’s pretty good story.
Did someone say logh?I am going to watch, I don’t care what it is, I will watch.And I lie the visual style.
“Just so you all know every post will be Pro-Ali, Pro-Patrick, Pro-Katie, Pro-Soma, and Pro-Wild Bear.”
Wouldn’t like it any other way ^^
-The description for Kannagi may be pretty generic and sounds like even the descriptor got bored but the production staff seems to stand out. Director of a couple episodes of Lucky Star, Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu, Kanon 2006 and FMP! Fumoffu, seems to point to quality comedy. Music is by satoru kousaki also of lucky star and suzumiya fame. Has the art director of Eureka 7(asst.), the Cowboy Bebop Movie, and Wolf’s Rain. A fair amount of the Lucky Star and Suzumiya production team; the only thing that’s a little slack are the seiyuu, though tomatsu haruka and kanazawa hana have been doing some good stuff lately. Add in a little Miyuki Sawashiro and Tetsuya Kakihara and the cast doesn’t look as weak as it does at first glance.
-Somehow I never got past episode 3 of Gundam 00. So until i watch that s2 is put on hold.
-Watching the vampire shows (Rosario + Vampire and Vampire Knight) to see if they get any better.
-Tales of the Abyss is a maybe; I am WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR played by Yukana? Sounds hot.
-Kemeko Deluxe I’ll give a shot to the production team isn’t anything to write home to mama about but the premise is interesting.
-Will check out Michiko to Hatchin mostly because I tend to enjoy offbeat anime and has alot of Samurai Champloo production team.
-I have a feeling Clannad After Story is going to be way sadder than Clannad. Still going to love it.
-Shikabane Hime- I do fanboy for gainax but the cast/crew just looks hit or miss. Hopefully gainax doesn’t go back to being mediochre post Gurren Lagann.
-Skip Beat!- I can stomach a fair amount of Shoujo and the cast looks decent. (Marina Inoue finally taking a lead again *rabu rabu*) What little of the production staff displayed seems to have a fair amount of experience under their belts.
-Kurogane no Linebarrels- Honestly who DIDN’T they get for their seiyuu cast. Jun Fukuyama AND Yuichi Nakamura in the same cast crrrrazy. Production company is…iffy. The director has some mecha oriented work with Gundam 08th MS Team and After War Gundam X, but then he has like 4 Pokemon movies and the television show. The screenplay is by Kiyoko Yoshimura of Gundam Seed (woo) and Shigeru Morita of Chocolate Underground (uhhh…yay). (also Gundam Seed Destiny Orz) Hisashi Hirai of Gundam Seed and s-CRY-ed as animation director and character designer. Tsutomu Suzuki of The Big O and Zone of the Enders as mecha designer. If all that wasn’t enough they got Goro Taniguchi of Code Geass fame to serve as creative producer. It looks to me like Gonzo is really placing all their bets on this one. I will be watching to either see Gonzo renewed or to watch it’s last light flicker and expire.
-Aken Iro ni Somaru Saka is an eroge adaptation with direction and composition by the School Days team. Therefore; I”m in it for the Yandere.
-Definitely watching EF ~ A tale of Melodies~ loved Renji/Chihiro. The other storyline was decent but not as emotionally grabbing.
-Chaos Head sounds interesting and I will watch it just for the (hopefully) WTF factor.
So my top 5 in order of anticipation from greatest to least is: Clannad After Story, Kurogane no Linebarrels, Shikabane Hime, Kannagi, and EF ~ A Tale of Melodies~ There are more that I will definitely check out the first episodes of (anything not yaoi or for little kids) but my post is tl;dr enough as it is.
I think of ALL the upcoming shows, the one I am most most looking forward to is Skip Beat!
I absolutely ADORE the manga, and the anime has me all excited. I really hope they stick to the manga storyline. I think the Dark Moon arc will be brilliant animated, as it will have both Ren and Kyoko’s tough trials as actors!
And animated Kyoko demons shrivelling up in light of Ren’s heavenly smile. I am gonna have so much fun watching this!!!
Impz, I am so glad you will be blogging this series!! *Super excited!*
majority of the animes listed here will go to my list. but, due to my uberly biziness in the stock market floor, might be late on watching them, provided that subs would be fast. I hope they’re slow this time. n_n
hey, thanks for this list THAT.
@Zentari
Trust me, he’s very excited about blogging the second season of 00, and I’m looking forward to tagging along and poking fun at his rants.
@Choux
Because they are all haters. People who hate on harem/eroge adaptations often conveniently forget when a show they like comes from such a game. I don’t like ef, but the reason has nothing to do with the fact that it’s an eroge adaptation =)
@Mel
From what I gather it has very strong shouta/BL tendencies, and all I have to go on is “from what I gather” at this point~
@Olivia
Artland has not been the lead studio on anything good aside from Mushishi unfortunately.
@Blue
Can always watch later, make a backlog =) And many of us heterosexual find BL pretty disgusting compared to the awesomeness that is yuri. You could probably read many psychological studies why, but most men prefer watching woman x woman to man x man.
@Gideon
And I plan on providing balance by shamelessly pandering to the protagonists just to piss off Crusader and thus create better rants for you to enjoy.
@Taka
I didn’t have time to delve that deeply into each production staff (it’s a massive preview), but now that I do it’s an impressive set of names they’ve got. Gives Kannagi a good chance I think.
Clannad After Story is guaranteed to be sadder than the first season if they do it anywhere close to the VN, heh.
I tell you, for Kurogane Gonzo is pulling out all the stops and throwing money at the best out there because they have to save themselves from going under. I think that gives the show a good chance regardless of how silly the concept sounds.
Wow…I guess I’m glad it’s not boobs, boobs, boobs like before but nothing much is grabbing my attention. After reading this preview, pretty much Hyakko and Kurozuka are the only things I might be interested in.
why does there have to be all this good stuff coming out in fall? with all the tv shows, anime, and games coming out i wont be able to do anything else.
Kyou no go no ni the series?! Please don’t tell me that you’re lying. It would be awesome and I can’t wait for it.
I can’t wait to read some anti-terrorist rants!
Thanks for the update! Looks like a lot of great stuff coming out this season.
Arghghghghglhg. So many good shows. Only one season. And I still have a backlog of epic proportions to go through. I’M IN DESPAIR. MY HUGE BACKLOG HAS PUT ME INTO DESPAIR.
Also, Thankyouverymuchfortheupdate.
Hmm, two shows I’m a little excited about, Kyo no Go no Ni and and Toradora, six shows I’m probably gonna watch out of boredom until they piss me off and the rest I’m going to avoid like the plague. If only there was some big hit, but I guess after the triple of awesome this summer, Geass, Frontier and Soul Eater, they are fresh out of those.
clannad, kyou no go, gundam, ef; those since they’re sequels I guess.
kannagi, toradora, tytania; since they look interesting.
skip beat; has inoue marina.
Interesting thing about Kannagi is that A-1 Pictures would also have animation assistance from a new studio called Ordet, which had former staff that broke away from KyoAni (including Yutaka Yamamoto, one of the former directors)
Wow, that’s a lot of neat (and not so neat) anime…but is it just me, or was there a lot of negative reaction from the bloggers?
Anyways, there’s a certain one that catches my eye…hopefully it (and a lot of these others) will get licensed in the US.
I don’t care but I definitely will be watching Tales of the Abyss and Vampire Knight. Anyways, dang that is a long list of new series. Some looks really interesting but some are like “what the hell?” like Bihada Ichizoku and Macademi. Those just sent chills down my back from just looking at the picture.
wow I’m checking out like 14 shows this season.. 0_0
@Caitlin
I like boobs -_-
@Ukyo
No lying, ’tis truth!
@Lelangir
Any show with Marina Inoue has potential, but unfortunately it’s shoujo…
@Garnet
Well we evaluate a ton of shows, so there’s bound to be a lot of negativity. In any type of media there’s a lot of crap for every good show, so percentage wise the crap outweighs the good stuff, explaining the comments.
@Silver
Fall and spring always have the biggest amount of new stuff when compared to summer and winter. And yeah, there’s usually a handful of oddball shows nobody watches~
@LDC
Don’t hurt yourself now, moderation is the key!
-Tales of the Abyss: I’m definitely watching, since it’s almost mandatory for the fandom, but I’m not looking forward to Luke and Tear so much since I’m not with the majority of the ToA fans that like them, though I do believe that Luke goes through a lot of yummy character development. Still, I hope they’ll manage to give some background to the rest of the cast too. This is important because it’s the cast that makes the game’s story more colorful than it’s cliches.
Vampire Knight Guilty: I know I’ll want to tear Kaname limb from limb this season and beat Yuki over the head repeatedly, but I’m still game for the parts of the plot that don’t involve Yuki’s extremely stress-inducing love life.
-Gundam00: Having accidentally spoiled myself by looking at the cast roster, I’m curious enough. Still, the last season ended pretty well despite the slow-burn of the plot.
-Tytania: Looks interesting enough, and I can easily overlook the art.
Crossing off Clannad ~After Story~ even though I’m slightly interested because slice of life bores the hell out of me and I fell asleep numerous times trying to watch the first series. I might watch Junjou Romantica 2 because I made a bet and I don’t want to lose it.
Wow, yay for Ef- A Tale of Melodies! I had no idea that was coming, and I loved the artistic direction and emotional content (and non-harem/typical school anime bs) of the first series. I’ll also be looking at Clannad, and peaking at a few others, but there really is a lot of trash.
How can you compare Persona with “Tales of”?
They’re not even in the same realm of quality. If you really have to ask which is, you shouldn’t talk about RPGs ever again
BTW, impz, wth man, seriously? Tales of the Abyss? It’s like the Geo Metro of RPGs.
Kinda hard to believe Calawain not going crazy over Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka…
I thought he’s a harem fan
He~ I think Toradora and Clannad after story should be interesting
Impz, you are giving up Yuki Cross to watch some “fairy doctor” named Lydia? I am heartbroken.
RWAR! I love you guys even more for this [♦] I’m defiantly watching some and defiantly NOT watching some. LOL
Tales is the Abyss is the one I will watch for damn sure. I hope they won’t ruin the good characters and storyline of the game XD. And Persona anime is NOT an adaptation of the game so please don’t compare it like it’s on the same level of quality , it’s not. Well, who said anything about FF12 would be awesome if turn to anime?, that one’s storyline sucks , the good thing about it is only beautiful graphics and interesting gameplays….
Kannagi looks good since studio A-1 never fails to impress me with good themed anime and solid script, I heard Hakushaku to Yousei’s main guy, Edgar has an interesting witty personality so I will take a look at it for a sake of the chance it will turn to be a good shoujo. Kuroshitsuji is NOT yaoi , it has a little of that feel to it but there’s not something to be imagined of if not a yaoi fangirl and Sebastian is pretty cool to read and maybe watch in action.
And what ‘s wrong with BL?? Junjou Romantica is a pretty great example of how the EXCELLENT yaoi story has, it’s much more awesome than Shoujo mangas nowadays for how it can moves me in the heart miles away that Vampire Knight is like trash compared to it. I mean, I don’t mind if you won’t blog it or anything but at least pay some respect, this one is great one compared to the unreasonably yaoi-service animes out there. Since they never made good yaoi-mangas into anime but made only the crap ones so I guess that ‘s the initial reaction of everyone who doesn’t read every manga genre?
No matter how hard I tried, I could never get into Gundam 00. There may have been an interesting story underneath the drivel that the show’s naive, simple creators thought was politics, philosophy, ethics, and military doctrine, but all I can say I could not watch that show without becoming enormously angry. I’m something of a military buff, not so much that I’ve quite memorized my ‘Assault Weapons Recognition Guide’, but I know the difference between Glaser Safety Slugs and +P+ rounds and I know that it makes no sense to attempt to fight the world with four units of anything. I could go on about the grating ideological premise behind Celestial Being, the large cast of ultimately weak characters, or the stupid looking mecha and staid character design, but I think it’s enough for me to say I won’t be watching the second season.
I will agree with Impz on his stance on Clannad. In the wake of the rabid fanboyism and cult devoted to the anime, I attempted to watch the anime. I found it to be grating. Of course, I’m more or less immune to pithy moe, so you guys are free to enjoy yourselves.
Rosario is still the the same trash it was last season, and I don’t know what’s up with all these old-school remakes, but I’m enjoying Birdy so I guess I’ll check out the other stuff.
Skip Beat survives my wrath by the raw fact that I thought that Kyouko was enormously amusing in the manga, long and monotone as it was.
Hakushaku seems interesting in the sense that it’s set in an interesting historic period, the 19th century England, but this is immediately undermined by the furry in the background.
Ga Rei has an artistic style that is attractive to me, but it suffers from a crippling lack of creativity, as does Kannagi and several other selections.
Ef’s last season was trippy. Too trippy. Not my thing.
I am overall disappointed in this Fall’s selection. I keep praying for a new season of Black Lagoon, or maybe a continuation of Berserk, and I guess I’ll have to continue.
You guys rock! I am going to have to get a double at work so I can check out so many awesome looking series! And thanks for covering the girl friendly stuff, even if it isn’t the group’s over all cup of tea.
Many thanks!!!
Like the posters said before me, Kuroshitsuji is NOT yaoi. I agree it is something much closer to an Antique Bakery and Nabari no Ou feel. Also, I have to say that the Kuroshitsuji picture Impz took from the LJ is just a fan-shipping community, the more official one is http://community.livejournal.com/kuroshitsuji/. Maybe somebody should change it? Otherwise I think people would get the wrong impression about this series…
Also, have you guys seen this? I think it would help: http://0rz.tw/a64Bs
I think you guys forgot the Heart no Kuni no Alice anime project coming out Novenmber… ;_; (pretty much the series I care about the most this upcoming season, lol)
Personally, my to-watch list consists of: Skip Beat (b/c I’m too lazy to read the manga, lol), Hakushaku to Yousei (FAIRIES? VICTORIAN ENGLAND? ROMANCE? =XD) and Kuroshitsuji(I’ve been enjoying what’s out of the manga).
Maybe: Kemeko Deluxe (I like the CRACK premise, but the potential ecchi scares me), Yozakura Shijuusou ~Yozakura Quartet~ (I agree that the chara designs look amazing), Tentai Senshi Sunred (if it ends up as just a parody), Casshern SINS (b/c it sounds so bad-a*s) and Kurozuka (if it turns out to be some historical-modern day romance like I imagined
).
“Phuzy: Wtf is with the brown thing in the middle? Is that what I think it is?! YES! IT IS!! IT’S A SAKE BOTTLE!!!”
Is that a p*nis I see too??? XO
@CatzCradle:
Did you play the Heart no Kuni no Alice VN? I think this is just an OVA retelling of it, but who knows. I guess they could make it into a full show in the Spring – if the OVA is any good then I’m sure someone here will post about it. I hear they are releasing the VN on PS2 or something this summer, so you can get your bishie reverse harem fix like that for now
I love this list and I might add that impz have excelent taste
