Since I was on my way down to EOY 2008, Impz decided to ask me to cover the event, and the prospect of a free media pass always help in the persuasion. As most local anime fans know, the End of the Year (EOY) conventions has been going on for the last 10 years at Singapore Expo since 2000 regardless of natural disasters, world events and having hell freeze over.
Being at last year’s convention, this year sees a larger turnout of cosplayers and artists, however there is a notable drop in corporate sponsors due to cooling off from AFA08. This of course, has not affected the convention in any discernible way. Compared to AFA08′s wider target audience and purpose of a being a merchandising event, EOY is about catering to the anime community here in singapore with fan-centric activities such as cosplaying and artwork/doujinshi.
This being my first time asked to cover an event, I was armed with a somewhat unfamiliar 12 megapixel camera so you would have to pardon me on the quality of the photographs. This year’s theme is on Retro Anime. Words are a waste in a cosplaying convention, so let me present you with pictures!

I don’t see any retro thing. Doesn’t seem interesting at all. Good thing I didn’t go.
All those Cosplayers were great…except the guy who try to be a Gundam, he sucks. Really sucks!
Now the one from Singapore’s Anime Festival Asia was way more better than that.
Now this is how a person should cosplay like a Gundam!

@soso/karin lover: Dude, did you just diss Jihad-kun? His passion for Gundam is unrivaled by all but Bob! It’s not his fault Poverty Princess had nothing to spare but cardboard.
@elva: There was retro cosplay, but not a lot.
Who is this Jihad-kun you speak of? I only know one person with that name, Setsuna F. Seiei and he’s more handsome then the guy you mention.
Some of those costumes were really neat and kawaii =D
