This is the OP. Happy song, major key.
Episode 12, the arranged the OP sing in a minor key, sad. But that’s awesome! We, of course, always hear good use of the theme song during important times in a story (last ep. of Honey & Clover, for instance), but rarely do I hear the OP song arranged in such a way. Usually it’s just stuck in there, but Satoru Kousaki takes it a bit further.
There were two little bits I didn’t add in because I’m cheap and my free notation program can’t do what it’s supposed to be -_-’ (would only anal people care about how I divided the right/left hand arpeggios?)
download the midi (piano)
download the midi (rhodes, ’cause we all love a bit of bleedy sounding rhodes
and for fun

YES! Finally, a music sheet! Gonna play this on the piano. And luckily, no difficult chords. Whew~
Weird, listening to this song reminds me of Elfen Lied for some reason :\
And man, I should really allocate more time for myself to watch more Anime like Kannagi :\
this is my favorit opening!:)
hearing a guy singing the baby face part is just plain wrong.
i like it
Who sang the in the 3rd song?
…. i wanna hear JAM Project sing this song instead… parody will be complete
I’m presuming the 3rd song is using some software to change the pitch of the voice…
Yah pretty music- never watched this anime before XD
HOLY CRAP. I never (and don’t) even watched this anime and can’t even stop watching the OP, so addicting~
D: Cannot wait for full version of the 2nd one. 12 was the first downsy but good episode. Goooo Kannagi!
THANK YOU FOR THE COMPOSITION HOLY CRAP YES.
I was so in love with the minor key version that I wanted to give it a go at composing it. Thank god I stumbled by into your website and found it.
It is perfection!
Kairu: Glad you liked it! Yeah, no chords really, just basic arpeggios.
Aizen: The Elfen Lied OP is pretty complex. It constantly switches between 3/4 and 4/4, which is pretty crazy, considering how simplistic most anime OPs are. EL’s OP is definitely my all time favorite and will probably remain that way for quite some time.
Motoko: This OP is pretty cool, and Toradora’s is pretty tight too. There are a lot of catchy, upbeat OP’s this season in general.
random guy: Yeah, that part was pretty hilarious. I dunno if it’s a guy or just some software.
confused guy: dunno
Tenryu: Jam?
boo: I dunno, there are pretty crazy fans out there. That’s some beast software in the event that it is ‘fake’.
catz: It’s pretty good, I’ve left it on repeat many times.
Lawl: There might be a full version in the OST. The short arrangement here seemed kind of cut off. It didn’t really resolve that well, the bass didn’t move and we had to hear an implied harmony through the right hand. If there is a fuller version in the OST I don’t think there would be a lot of development, it would just be a simple arrangement of the OP, which would still be cool.
Kaelyn: Thanks a lot! If my transcriptions are well-received here I might as well post all the anime music I’ve transcribed hitherto. You might want to also check out Ichigo Forums as they have a lot of free anime sheet music for download. And aside from a few things I could’t notate, this should be a nearly verbatim transcription
lelangir: Big thanks!
But wait, Ill play Kannagi OP if I finished Minuet first. ;__;
man-Nagi voice is just wrong.
@Lelangir: JAM Project singing Lucky Star’s OP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzLbtiTtRY4
and my personal favourite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPE9sW8cCKY
lelangir: When you said this OP was pretty cool, were you referring to the animation or the music? You seem to have a particular distaste for the music last I checked
But in any case, the arrangement was pretty solid and melancholic as one would expect based on the clip you gave us (haven’t seen the episode yet so I can’t comment as to whether it drives the point home or not). And the Man Version was absolutely hilarious in that you know it’s awful (but a well-executed kind of awful) and can’t turn away despite it all.
