Toradora, Episode 10- Yes, They Jiggle

Boing

Well, since I was busy as of late and Crusader’s post was a pretty comprehensive Ami love entry on episodes 8 and 9, let’s just skip to episode 10 shall we? Another solidly entertaining episode with a handful of facepalming laughs at Kitamura’s expense, coupled with plenty of fanservice since it’s a beach episode. Plus Ami, lots of Ami.

WONDERFUL. So was that jiggle they subsequently showed, hence the title of this entry. Interesting to note here how Ami refuses to help in this scene but later relents. Her initial inclinations toward merely teasing Ryuuji to get a rise out of him are slipping further and further into haremette territory rather than antagonist territory.

I spy with my little eye…

Oh right in the face. Those were some lame ass “traps” to scare people if I ever saw them. I never really found Kitamura to be a particularly interesting character, dense and energetic is so overdone. Although I did give him man points for whipping out the one-eyed snake last episode, that took some cajones…literally.

I guess I sort of get the moon and the sun metaphors, but I also sort of don’t. What’s becoming more of a factor is Ami looking rabu rabu over Ryuuji. Although I still hope this doesn’t devolve into yet another “everything with a vagina loves the main character for no reason” show.

Ami is not pleased. She has such awesome facial expressions.

You may say that, but we all know where this is going. The show would have no purpose in being called Toradora if it wasn’t a Taiga End. But until then it’s fun to salivate over Ami and ship other characters for our own amusement.

    You wouldn’t believe it, I was gonna blog this episode (elsewhere) and was gonna title it “these breasts, they do not lie.” I asked you in the winter preview if you’d lemme append a few words :( …but I forgot what I was gonna write ’bout it anyway.

    One-eyed snake, heh, it was “a black and hairy thing”, as per Minorin’s always-awesome remarks.

    I think GL had some interesting things to say ’bout Kitamura, but I don’t think I’ve finished reading that post, still O_o.

    This is a Chiaki face. All that’s left to be said about this particular entry.

    Ami >> Taiga. Taiga annoys me. I really like/d this series. However, I ruined it by looking ahead in the novels. The sheer disappointment is only matched by my disappointment with School Rumble.

    dra.: at least there was SOME setup in the novels, versus the sudden switch in the last few volumes of the School Rumble manga, and it didn’t have that sudden and disappointing ‘three years later’ ending which undid everything set up by the previous two chapters.

    I can’t wait for the next episode!

    No comments about Minorin? XD

    Ha, I’m pushing for a Minori end. But i already predict that the only way we’ll get a Taiga end is if Ryuji finally got Minori to be his girlfriend, then he’s caught cheatin with Ami, Minori breaks up with him, and he runs to his master (Taiga.)

    Boosh!

    Taiga is hotter, cuter and a better person then Ami.

    Even if poor Ami-chan is not going to emerge victorious I still love the clever girl. I hope Ami-chan makes a real friend later on. Well I hope Sumire will be barking out orders next week.

    Personally I don’t like Taiga that much. She’s a good person just like everyone else in the show but I just don’t like her as much. I like Minorin and Ami more overall. Minorin is energetic and a happy person overall while at the same time, can be very observant which makes it awesome. Ami is of course attractive and very clever and manipulative which I find is awesome.

    No reason? Ryuji is a nice guy. He can cook, he can clean, he is perceptive. I can believe that the girls are attracted to him. Especially Ami, since he was the first one to really accept her for what she is.

    ok. I watch Toradora just for Ami. Sucks that the end will be Taiga’s. So predictive, but still I have my portion of Ami every week, so I’ll give it a slip. I don’t like Taiga because of her stereotypical tsundere character. This show is like any other when you pick up a character you like and painfully see the inevitable (ex. Clannad with Tomoyo and Kyou loosing to Nagisa). It’s so obvious and unchanged that pisses me off >_<

    @Lelangir

    Should ask me on YIM and not a random comments in a 70+ comment entry!~

    @Haesslich

    That’s pretty attentive. She does have the occasional Chiaki face now that I think about it. Even the funny hair spike.

    @dra./Haesslich

    Let’s not get me started on the things about School Rumble that made me rage. Was good at the start, but grrrrr.

    @Jubbz

    I’m not much of a Minorin fan, as you can probably figure out, I lub Ami.

    @LDC

    Rejected!

    @Crusader

    Yeah one would assume since it’s the school festival.

    @Silver

    Ami’s characteristics make her quite interesting, although I don’t know if I could befriend a real life version.

    @Son Gohan

    He may have a few good qualities, but percentage wise having 100% of the girls in his close circle all over him is not realistic and seems to happen way too often in anime.

    @Nyanko-sensei

    I don’t feel quite the same level of pain as you, I know where this is going but I can still enjoy the ride.

    @Haesslich – My disappointment in the two series is related based upon the titular character’s love interest. School Rumble failed in so many other ways. The author ruined 280+ chapters and the anime with just a few chapters.

    I am basically saying I didn’t like their picks. haha.

    @LDC – Yep. Too many loli’s.

    @Calawain – Oops. Just read your comment.

    dra: At least in ToraDora, they develop things… instead of suddenly having things get dumped the way they do in the last few chapters. They could’ve ended it two chapters or so before the chapter they DID draw things to a close on… and it’d have been perfect. The last chapter really blew it all to hell, though.

    “Although I still hope this doesn’t devolve into yet another ‘everything with a vagina loves the main character for no reason’ show.”-

    Well, actually, I’ve had a few guys in my class have the entire group of girls all over their personalities. One era after another. So, I guess it can happen in real life like in ToraDora using Ryuuji. I should know it can happen. I had an era where the group of guys liked me and I was pretty much in every one of the guy’s eras too. Things develop like this apparently. Funny. So, not so hard for me to imagine that all the girls or “everything with a vagina loves the main character for no reason”.

    BTW, we were all close friends, big group of close friends, so it wasn’t the ‘admiration from a far’ and ‘idol’ thing.

    It should be noted: Ryuuji still has his balls.. as Episode 11 attests to, for all those who doubted his manhood.
