Something is somewhat off here
Hohoho, four finals down, one to go ladies and gentlemen. But before that we have this week’s episode of Toradora. I’d sure like to see Ami in a maid outfit, that’s for damn sure. At least we get to find out who that weird looking guy was from last week’s episode preview.

Frankly, I’d rather see you in the pants. That PE uniform is just stupidly ugly, even worse so with the shorts. I was rather saddened they didn’t show the scene where Taiga pulled Ami’s pants down on accident, a tear nearly formed in my eye.

The class idiot appears

The animated tiger was a nice touch

He really is an idiot. With a united front of men sure to capture at least a plurality of votes he picks it randomly. Although a pro wrestling show sounds like a rather fun idea. I’d love to see more of Taiga and Ami wrestling…hot.

Quite accurate imo

Now that’s what I’m talking about, only it should be naked wrestling obviously

He is quite often the nagging housewife this Ryuuji. It always irritates me when people just assume they know about family relationships just by being briefly exposed to it. Yes, I understand they tried to say at the end that he was just trying to force his own issues on her, but still. People are often too quick to judge before they know all the facts. And they wrapped up that storyline way too quick, I guess they really want to speed through all the novel material. It’s rather jarring that Taiga all of a sudden decides to make up with him, regardless of what Ryuuji says.

I think it should be noted that the main point here is not only to show that Ryuuji has issues… but that he’s not completely selfless, and also IS able to stand up to Taiga physically. Which of course is why he shames Taiga into spending at least a LITTLE time with her father, even if the guy is something of an asshole. Not animating, or even mentioning, that the two of them have some shared interests (interior decorating) was a mistake, though, IMO.
Grr… the end of this episode was so confusing, and yet the preview gave us nothing. Not even hints of Ami/Taiga wrestling face-offs, just the creepy depressing teacher. Write a book or something, lady, but don’t rant at us. We don’t give two shits.
Huh…
I’m gonna guess that Minorin really Likes Ryuji, but believes that Taiga likes him to and she doesn’t wanna be a bad friend. That, or she’s finally starting to “see love” and doesn’t know what to do. Why else would she change the subject of the UFO’s quickly?
On another note, I can’t help but think that Yurichan-sensei’s behavior in this episode might be due to Taiga’s dad. I mean, he probably told her that he wanted a divorce… but that’s just speculation… though it would make sense as to why she’s so afraid of Taiga. Maybe if more was revealed…
Well Ami-chan was simply lovely once again by leading taiga by the nose. Can’t say I liked or even sympathized with Taiga even if the brat has some emotional baggage she should at least have the common courtesy of begging for her own damn money or he’ll get a fucking job so she won’t be a total parasite. I have met people with parental issues but none had the gall to snub their parents and still take their money. Granted I don’t know her reasons but goddamn if you are going to play that schtick at least get a job to make it look like you are trying to earn your own way through life.
@Jubbuz
Did you actually ever pay attention to the reason why Yurichan Sensei is always so upset?
I hope this isn’t going for the chliched end of school festival confessions or Taiga goes off with her dad and Ryuji gets lonely and realizes his feelings for her.
@Brin
Probably will be. I see it heading that direction in my opinion.
The teacher is going nuts because she is in her mid thirties with no husband. I can forsee a hookup between her and Tigas dad in the future
lonny: The thing is though, Taiga’s father has already REMARRIED at this point.
@Brin: Yeah, i do. She says it’s because she wants to be married before hitting 30. But there has to be a lie or two somewhere… This episode, she was acting pretty strange, and then Taiga’s dad appears. I can’t help but suspect a connection between the two.
Jubbz: That’s like saying that, because Sumire went Yakuza-boss on us while Taiga was around, that she and Taiga are in a lesbian relationship. One doesn’t necessarily beget the other… especially since a birthday is a thing that happens once a year, but the effects (the realization that she’s now 30 and effectively an ‘old maid’) can linger for some months. And Yuri apparently picked the school’s cultural festival as her time to snap, perhaps due to extra workload being piled on her as a result of the festival’s organizational and logistical requirements being spread among the teachers. Or she’s the main organizer this year.
Either way, Yuri’s better when she’s crazy.
Myssa Rei: I linked the driver you needed in another blog.
I thought this was a pretty well done episode. There will probably be more drama with this as it’s a multi-parter. It was good in showing that Ryuuji has his own father issues. Father is gay btw, noone in their right mind wears a horrible pink scarf like that.
the only thing that redeemed this episode for me was the ‘preview’ for the next episode… couldn’t stop laughing at it… otherwise just didn’t click with me this episode
