As Miszushima takes a second whiff of Kawamori’s hookah things are looking more Macrossian by the minute. Not only is the power of song becoming more prominent, but also Jihad-kun is starting to get funny dreams, nevertheless because Jihad-kun was so boring to begin with even in his own dreams he is unoriginal and seeks to emulate Kratos, but with a much reduced level of awesome. Sadly because Jihad-kun is a moron he forgot to get a bicycle and peddle his way to Minmei Princess Poverty. The kids are making a thorough nuisance of themselves and it seems that what was true in the original Mobile Suit Gundam has not changed, the kids are annoying and should never have been brought back. Fortunately though Kawamori’s stash has brought about some decent changes in the script as the Seelian fat ass was finally put on a diet and barred from stealing food. The reintroduction of Lockon Mk I completes the circle as we now have a love triangle between Jihad-kun, Princess Poverty, and Lockon Mk I.
Parliament also ignored calls to overturn Roe v. Wade…how evil.

Hank Hercules declares that he is going ahead with his coup and mocks Sergei for being a principled soldier in not wishing to take part in a future junta. Hank even brings up Sergei’s dead wife in an effort to look righteous. Sergei tells Hank to STFU and GTFO. To his credit Hank gave a wonderful excuse for his power grab, but as all real mecha fans have seen LOGH and uphold the Spirit of Yang Wenli Hank’s calls for a coup were spat upon. Like any would be Pinochet Hank tries to enlist the help of the sworn enemies of the Federation, Kataron and Celestial Being, and puts his own desire for an Outer Haven above the needs of the Federation Citizenry.
Katie and her crew return from space and are called upon to rapidly mobilize in an operation against CB. Hilling Care starts hitting on Divine who was sorely disappointed that his twin Stabity was Danned to Death. Care inquires as to the qualities of Katie as Lindt was a mere major. Revival gives a stellar recommendation on Katie’s behalf as Katie is very smart and ought to take a job with Tytania or LOGH. Andrei makes an ass of himself in asking Louise to be more feminine and for the sake of Saji no less. Louise tells him off and informs Andrei that she has dumped Saji and has no intention of going back to the kitchen. Patrick sees this and is sorely disappointed in Andrei, clearly the son of Wild Bear is doing it wrong. Andrei being an idiot rejects Patrick’s offer of advice, and years later Andrei regretted his folly. Billy begged his uncle to let him go to the front, but Katie makes it clear that Billy does not belong and that his back seat commanding is most unwelcome. Katie decides that now is the time to bring an end to Kujou in order to avenge her men and Captain Ginin. Louise agrees and they finally sortie, Patrick is taken off the line and Katie borrows his immortality much to Patrick’s delight. Without Gundam 00 Raiser CB is easily overwhelmed as Divine makes short work of Tieria and Haptism. Marie wishes to go out and help but is dismayed that Louise is now the pilot of Smultron. Fighting off Soma Marie goes to the hanger of GN Archer, but as fate would have it Katie had to call off the attack because Hank took control of the Africa Tower.

Hank had achieved complete surprise and the Federation recalled all available forces to cordon off the Africa Tower. Jihad-kun now a sissy who has problems killing finally meets face to face with Bushido Bob. Jihad-kun insults the good Samurai, but is quickly terrified once Masaruo demonstrates that it too can become red when he activates Trans-Graham which is powered by GAR and spirit as opposed to Trans-Am which is powered by lose, emo, and fail.

Well it seems that we are definitely entering into a Kawamori scenario in regards to Princess Poverty and Jihad-kun. Sadly it is a bit late to try and add some spark to this one, but I am sure someone will declare it the Greatest Romance EVAR. Ah yes the coup, as an admirer of Yang Wenli’s principles I cannot endorse this coup, every coup starts out with nice words, but they all end in the same manner, with blood. Hank has it all wrong the A-Laws are not pulling 00bama’s strings and the reality is quite the opposite. Now that Hank and his coup plotters have demonstrated a willingness to beg Kataron for aid I doubt that they have the best of intentions. Moreover it seems most of the Federation Army remains loyal to the civilian government while Hank has only a handful of supporters in comparison. In the long term though, Hank has damaged the credibility of the entire Federation Army as now the loyalty of the regular army is going to be questioned. It would not be permissible for the US military to overthrow Bush under any circumstances even though there are those who think it (foolishly I might add) for the greater good. The moment that any military initiates a coup, it is a rejection of the democratic system that relies on building consensus and replaces it with a junta propped up by guns. While Hank speaks beautifully about wanting a better government all democracies are at some level corrupt as is any other form of government. Even so deposing 00bama for Col. Hank Hercules is not a step forward for democracy it is a step back and established a precedent where by the military has the ability to intervene in the affairs of the government at will.

To be fair I don’t see Gundam overall as an endorsement of democracy, but rather in favor of an enlightened despotism, as in the case of Char and most overtly in SEED. To be fair even in Japan there is a romanticism of coups, the Minamoto deposed the Taira with a coup, Tokugawa deposed Hideyori with a coup, and in the 1930s the Imperial Forces took control and made Japan the seat of a sizable empire. Even now it cannot be said that there is an out right rejection of those coups, and as such there is less of a stigma to a military coup in those parts. To me what Hank is doing is clearly wrong despite his good intentions, perhaps a Japanese audience would think otherwise, but perhaps since I know way too much about military coups in South America and Africa I am in the minority that cannot endorse such actions or even sympathize with them.

In the case of Patrick and Katie it was nice to see them return and I must applaud Katie for making the best use of Patrick. Clearly Patrick is not a monster in combat, but it cannot be denied he is very very lucky. As such borrowing Patrick’s luck is a most excellent utilization of Patrick by Katie. Moreover now that Patrick gets to fly Katie around he’s not begging for a new suit anymore. Gotta love how Louise told Andrei off again, This Louise is awesome and with Katie’s help this time she and a bunch of grunts almost took out the carrier sadly Hank’s coup put a stop to it. Right now given how Hank was able to move without much interference it seems that if the Federation is a police state they aren’t a very good one, if they were Hank would already be dead and the A-Laws would have been waiting for Hank’s accomplices at the Africa Tower. Since Hank has it all wrong and given the prisoner to plotter ratio it makes the Feddie Regulars more like average soldiers of a democracy who aren’t inclined to initiate coups for their own benefit. Again the flaw here is that with Hank running amok it severely damages any claim the Federation has of being the evil empire, the secret police can’t stop something this big so the implication is that there might not be an all powerful secret police. Even if the Federation democracy is imperfect so is every democracy, it’s not like Parliament or Congress always pass legislation that is the most popular. Again even if Blair was doing some unpopular things I doubt it would have been permissible for the British Army to depose him in the name of the Queen.

I am a bit disappointed in how Bushido Bob was Graham Acre late again, but hopefully next week that will be remedied in short order. I hope that the ED sequence will be real and that the introduction of Trans-Graham GN-Tau Drives will restore the balance of power and make Gundam 00 Raiser less powerful. Even if I think little of Trans-AM I like Trans-Graham because the name is so much better, still I suppose the balance has to be restored some how and with any luck at the very least Louise, the Innovators, and Prince Ali will get the ability to Trans-Graham as well. So sad to see that the Ahead is already cannon fodder, but I guess there will be upgrades soon enough.
Since it looks as if most of the Africa Tower personnel were being tied up and imprisoned Hank’s coup does not have popular support of the Regular Army or Civilian wise. Once again we have yet another minority trying to impose its will on a majority, Hank is not touring the Federation to whip up support for the next election cycle he decided that it was a waste of time and chose to use guns to carry his point across. The Federation is only 4 years old and to not give the next election a chance really calls into question how much Kataron, Hank, and CB wish to uphold any form of democracy. Neither group is actively trying to convince the Federation electorate of anything; instead Kataron and CB blows them up and expects the Feddies to give them what they want. Next time we shall see what demands Hank Hercules starts making and if Sergei is going to disappoint Yang Wenli and start a coup of his own.

I actually think that it’s not so much that Katie was relying on Patrick’s luck, but that she knows that even his Irish luck won’t last forever (plus he’s used a good deal of it already). Cherudim finally looks remotely cool. I still think it fails compared to Dynames, but the Trans-Am was definitely sweet as far as how it’s face and upper body looked. Arios completely dwarfs Kyrios imo now due to it’s posability with those twin barrel rifles. I mean, sure he has a much crappier accuracy than Hal did with Kyrios, but the POSES man, the POSES. It’s like he’s doing the YMCA while he shoots! With badass guns!

Do wonder what they are planning with Trans-Am now. I mean just Graham is fine since it sets up for a better fight between him and Setsuna. Though twin drive Trans Am should still top Graham’s negated slightly by Setsuna fighting while injured. But really the large scale issue is the bigger thing. I mean if you set up all the A-LAWS units with it then the next fight won’t even last a minute and be a pretty boring conclusion.

I’d be inclined to say Trans-GARHAM if he got it when he was still graham.
It is most lamentable that at this stage in the conflict we don’t have anyone with a moral high ground but I suppose that is the thing with wars.
Celestial Being and Katharon are not legitimate as terrorist organisation, but neither are the A-laws or the Federation if they are synonymous with each other. The hardline tactics of the Federation are just as wrong as the war brought by CB.
For the federation invading and re-organising the Middle East isnt’t an answer even if they do harbour CB and Katharon. We have the Iraq War as a good example.
I was the one who proposed that Trans-Am or more importantly, Twin-Driving is completely possible with Tau drives given the R&D. People kept feeding excuses like the TD Plunket, or how the two drives had to be the same. It makes no sense, because logically speaking, to MASS produce Tau drives, you had to make them from the same production line. This makes them even EASIER to Twin Drive, albeit run out of gas real fast. But hey, they made GARazzo, so why not go all the way?
Trans-Am has always been just plain iffy. No one explained the particles to a solid degree, yet you have fanboys already trying to make ironclad rules about a universe even Sunrise hasn’t settled down with yet.
Ep 16 will be enjoyable, not because of Graham, but mainly because we might get a chance to see how Tau Drive Trans Am works. It’s funny because Bob has yet to fight 00-Raiser let alone 00-Raiser Trans Am. I can see a giant cop out with the OH I OWN YOU WITH TRANS AM BUT THEN YOU TELEPORT AND HURT ME THEN RUN AWAY OR FORCE ME TO RETREAT. Like . man .
But yeah, S2 drastically lost most of it’s small appeal aside from the very good animation/drawing design. I watch it for the same reason I read Naruto, to continue the story, which isn’t exactly good enough to drew me in to begin with.
But yeah, here’s hoping I’m wrong and Bob puts out a 5 star episode this sunday.
To counteract my pessimistic comments…ep 15 had…..yeah really nothing. But ep 14 had the most badass 00-Raiser pose that knocked everything from CB out the ball park. Like, I don’t care how dumb it was for all the fangs to get shot down and how the pink spirit bomb looks so gimp and everyone wondered how the hell did 4 nuzzles shoot out that pos, but damn did 00-Raiser look awesome aiming 4 cannons at Ali. That was like, SeeD quality posing. That’s the way you market gundams, you frigging POSE em. Like a model.

In the flashbacks Kati said hello and talked only with Sumeragi(it seemed like Kati didn’t know Billy even then). Conclusion: Kati and Billy aren’t friends.
Some thoughts about this episode:
- Ali’s reaction to the song was the same as mine.
- Hercules’ decision feels like – AEU is without their orbital elevator.
- Klaus in this episode looked like Marina in season one.
- Andrei and Louise reminded Sergei and Soma from season one. Patrick just wanted to help Andrei (he needs some advices).
- Kati seems is trying to keep away Patrick from battlefield and used her charm on Patrick that he wouldn’t be sad about it. Patrick really will not get from A-LAWS to pilot new MS. He even has more chances to pilot Enact than anything else.

@Crusader: To be fair, S1 was completely plausible and had far more technical detail in it’s fights. It had the “credibility” so to speak. S2 became like Geass, only that because of AD’s SRS BIZNIZ attitude, it looks completely stupid while R2 was like LOL CHARLES ROCKET because of CLAMP art.
But hey, this isn’t just a Japanese thing, Heroes completely got owned.
And no one’s subbing that Kemeno no SOLJAH series. Like wtf, isn’t it the same animation studio that did Seirei? HELLLOOOOOO GREATEST ANIMATION OF 08 SERIES >.> Balsa vs 4 Ninjas or Old Guy vs 6 Spears or whatever blew every battle of 00/Geass out of the water. And the story kept it simple. YOU KNEW IT WAS GOING TO SUCK. It’s like a gundam series that has pilots engage in melee combat, but instead of letting the filler characters fight every other episode, you just get boring talk for 4/5ths the series and the 1/5th that actually has fighting consists purely of Bob and Ali. Yeah, that about sounds right. In GENUINE HD.
How much does the new “flag” look like something out of TTGL? I expect sunglasses on the chest of Graham’s next mecha.

Especially considering that the first three quarters of season 1 consisted primarily of the Gundams and CB singlehandedly humiliating the entirety of the Earth nations forces with their vastly superior GN technology. If anything that was a whole lot less plausible and lacked credibility in that 1,000 Mobile Suits simply could not take down the combined power of 4 Gundams + 3 Trinity variations.
Again I fail to see your point since in this season the odds are clearly far more even with both sides having access to GN technology and the Gundams actually showing a degree of vulnerability to their opponents, including 00 Gundam. Though I suppose neither season had any more or less credibility considering that it’s always been consistent that the ability to pump GN particles makes the difference in this particular Gundam universe. Hell Sumeragi seems to have realized it since she uses that advantage in her “tactical forecasts” so often.
By the way, what does small detail appeal mean anyway? You never really defined that before launching into whatever point it was you were trying to make.
@Shin: You’re forgetting that Dynames also had to have a huge platform/gun attachment (images of the gun that Nordberg used in Naked Gun 2 1/2 get conjured up as I recall it) set up for it that rendered it completely motionless, on top of having to have Setsuna clear the cloud cover for it even to get a shot in, ON TOP OF THERE NOT BEING A SINGLE THREAT AROUND TRYING TO RUSH IN ON IT’S POSITION. With Trans-Am unlocked and the tactical situation changed it’s simply more feasible to use it instead of what might as well amount to a huge target with dynames as the Bull’s Eye.
There’s nothing sad about it at all and frankly I’m considering pulling a Crusader and revoking everyone’s license to make observations about mecha power levels and tactical applications since few seem to have understood the situation in season 1 and how it applies to and yet is different than in season 2 and even worse, they keep trying to apply real world physics to a science fiction anime. Lol… :p
That last bit was a joke in case people didn’t realize, but seriously folks, get it together. Memorize your technical specs for the units in this series and then we’ll discuss what is and isn’t hax and what has “small detail appeal” or not.

Besides it was somewhat of a radical shift to have GN Singing break the remnants of the otherwise mildly hard sci-fi elements in S1, hell I never saw singing to be that integral back in S1.
@Crusader: Okay, look, the series never really had hard sci-fi elements to begin with and I don’t see GN singing in one episode as anything approaching integral, nor do I see it becoming integral to the series proper, but then again I live in the reality based community and that’s not the way the internet works anymore. When you act you create your own reality and if I try to study that reality you’ll act again and create other new realities. I know how this all works.
Now on that same tack, I know you own a jump to conclusions mat that you use to write your comebacks, that you like to fly in the face of reality at every turn, and that you essentially ignore all other viewpoints that don’t conform to your own and I’m cool with that as it’s funny to me in the same way an episode of The O’Reilly Factor is. I even know that you’re trying to do the whole, “Oh dear season 2 ruined the first season” bit wherein you end up trumping up the first season that you used to trash on in the proper 4chan style so that you can have another avenue to rip on the second one with renewed vigour. I understand how it goes and I’m cool with that too as tradition without purpose can have a humorous aspect to it as well. I even realize that this all but needs to get sprung with all series that have a split season if you and your 4chan friends are to sleep comfortably at night. Everybody needs a good nights sleep after all. However it really doesn’t work if you can’t actually remember the content and style of the first season well enough to begin with since the best style of ripping and lulz style commentary is done by invoking a series of half-truths that hit close to home, but are flexible enough to steer the topic towards whatever meme it is that you are taking a crack at creating or carrying.
In conclusion making up random stuff to associate to a person or thing like that killer Woody Allen joke or the equally random Sonic Unleashed one from last week….it’s only funny when there’s a hint of truth to it that also cuts to the heart of the matter. You’ve been fresh for a while and even managed to make me laugh and think a few times, but now you’re slipping back into the old habits and mantras. So like I suggested to others, go back and do your research and I’m sure you’ll find more then enough new (and not to mention reality-based) material to work with.

I don’t know they made quite a fuss over the GN drive last season TD blanket and all. At least back then things seemed plausible to an extent, but come on singing over vast distance is about as fantastical as you can get. If they scratch the singing then what use will Princess Poverty be? At least now she has a job and they seem to want to pimp out Princess Poverty and her choir. they took a whiff and ran with it. Honestly what you probably call reality is what I call a fantasy because you are upper class with your maid and all that jazz. Reality for a blue collar guy is different from that of a white collar guy. You probably believe in human decency, but I do not. There is plenty of evidence to support both but at the end of the day a Canadian such as yourself has probably a different view of reality than an Imperial Forces trooper like me. There are facts to be sure, but in my experience its how you interpret the data that dictates one’s view of reality. Take the Battle of Guadalajara, French, Germans, and Russians saw the exact same thing but walked away with different conclusions, they were all right to varying degrees but their conclusions had major differences and carried heavy consequences.
One of the reasons why you come off as humorless is because you blow your nose at blue collar humor, and have only praise for guys like John Stewart. I straddle a middle ground between hard working blue collar folks and the college educated intelligentsia I find a wider range of things funny. Like it or not 4chan humor is here to stay you can bitch and moan all you want, but it won’t change anything. The internet won’t change for you, there is a sizable demographic that likes 4chan, you don’t have to like it, but your complaints don’t help your case of being a humorous guy. Hence why I think you are the kind of person that has a Woody Allen sense of humor, not that you like Woody Allen, but your tastes are a bit more narrow and mildly elitist in the sense you want complex absurdity rather than any kind of absurdity.

Damn I hate how they are trying to be Macross Frontier with Princess Poverty singing. I just now skip past any scene with her in it. I don’t see how she is important to the plot line at all. Heck her relationship with Jihad Kun has to be one of the worst romances I have ever seen. Both of them are robots with absolutely no emotions. I also wish the children had died back when the tachikoma’s invaded the base.
Prince Ali needs to go on another killing spree because the cast is getting to big again. Or maybe instead they should give Patrick a mech with trans am (which sadly isn’t going to happen). I wonder if he would win if him and a CB fought on equal terms. He is an ace after all and CB tends to rely on tech rather than skill which could give him the edge until they pull out there BS plot armor.

This coming from the guy who’s reaction to any mecha series that isn’t Votoms level real and/or doesn’t feature die hard soldier types as main characters seems to be to immediately dismiss it and give it the 4chan style blogging treatment? As for why I’m not a fan of 4Chan style humour, it simply feels too ritualistic and I’m more of the spontaneous type. Memes to me are just mantras without purpose and even when the goal is too just pull stuff out one’s ass there is still a very rigid formula that I’ve seen in how it gets presented. Potentially hundreds of thousands of would be comedians who all like to sit around and tell the same basic style joke with the same punchline (meme in this case) over and over again? A “joke” that was probably ripped off from popular culture anyway so is probably already stale by the time it hits the boards? It’s just not for me, you’re absolutely right, I would die of boredom if forced to watch a comedy show based off of 4Chan humour. I’d sooner spend the day in a church listening to the most uninspired sermon ever.

define upside down? considering they’re in space where not only are you on a 3 dimensional plane but there no cleary defined right side up in the first place, so it’s kinda rendered moot, don’t forget the union virginia class ships launched their suits sideways and the HRL carriers lanched their suits in all directions.
plus you have to admit it’s a lot quicker than a catapult system, and not only do said suits being laucnhed not get in the way of the ships turrets, they can also defend the ships underside from attack.
