In the course of my life I have very often been a prophet, and have usually been ridiculed for it. During the time of my struggle for power it was in the first instance only the Feddie race that received my prophecies with laughter when I said that I would one day take over the leadership of the Middle East, and with it that of the whole world, and that I would then among other things settle the Feddie problem. Their laughter was uproarious, but I think that for some time now they have been laughing on the other side of their face. Today I will once more be a prophet: if the international Feddie financiers in and outside of the Federation should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Unification of the earth, and thus the victory of the Feddies, but the annihilation of the Feddie race!

Impression:
First off the bat Sunrise has elected to be a bunch of pricks and has started sending out messages to suppress screen caps and fan art that is posted outside of their sites. Hence forth I suppose there will be no more screen caps, and worse less fan art for Gundam 00 in my posts. I don’t have to do this but I just want to demonstrate how Sunrise has its head so far up it’s ass that they have doubled back to talk out of their asses. Given how I don’t know how to write moon runes nor do I have a desire to ask Uncle Sam to bitch slap them and idiotry I suppose we all have to go to Omni from now on because I trust that the boys and girls at Random C know enough moonspeak to ask for permission. I get to keep my leaderbaord though, but sadly I can not longer post screen caps of Lovely Louise and Mein Oberst. I do expect a drop in people reading these walls of text but using pictures as homologous replacements will have to do for the short term. For those of you who know a bit of moon please write some hate mail to the pricks at Sunrise at how dumb their decision is. Maybe things will change, but who knows. Still I think that the collective fandom should simply abide by their idiot rules so that their sales take a hit from a lack of fan fueled promotion. I love Gundam, but I simply loathe Sunrise for being so crass about abusing Gundam fans in places they can reach them. I guess there might be a drop in fan art, and that is the real point of contention for me.
Well I have to hand it to Ribbons for having mad photoshop skills, that was some real quick quality ones if I say so myself. I suppose many will find hank to have been a noble man, but I still see the man as a hateful man who uses the same rhetoric that many a General forming a junta would use. His talk of his right to whip civilians into shape and to correct them was altogether disgusting. At least Hank had a citizenry that was largely well behaved hell the people I have to protect aren’t above giving me crap and treating veterans like crap too, but hey I am sure the men who rule Burma would have loved Hank. Even if the A-Laws sent in tachikomas Hank was not doing the civilians any favors by herding them into the path of the Feddie advance. Given the orderly evacuation redirecting human traffic would not have been hard. Clearly no one in Sunrise knows how to fight in constricted terrain, and even if Hank was doing an evacuation funneling civies down a hot corridor is not how you would get things done if your intention was to save people. Instead it seems that Hank was letting the tachikomas and civilians collide so they could all see the coup plotters as heroes instead of the bastards who were putting their ideals first and their safety fourth. They had bullet proof shields and yet none were employed specifically to shield civilians. Worse still what the hell happened to that snazzy internal defense gird that saw off the recon tachikomas? The security system must have been designed rather stupidly if there were sections that had no hidden turrets. This Sunday time slot is keeping things way too tame, only one guy was gun downed while another was hit by stray bullets as the tachikomas were firing at that squad of coup plotters. Really the how the hell did VEDA get a third person shot of the killer tachikoma in the first place?
I also like how Hank was keeping his Feddie Army POWs with him and only evacuating the civilians whom he wanted to manipulate, way to show your former comrades any decency there Hank. The problem with Gundam 00 S2 is the same one a few of my friends had with Zeta as the corruption of the Earth Sphere Federation was not really shown, the time skip may have saved us a lot of time, but one has to wonder about what sort of terrorism Kataron was perpetuating in those three years since their coming. The Feddies only gave a damn about the Middle East once CB showed up as allies of Katron, so after four years of ignoring the place and three years of terror attacks I guess something had to be done. Well I suppose now the Federation is finally cartoon evil though it seems it will be the unwitting civilians, and soldiers who have to pay the price. There might be a schism later, but the thought of Klaus and Jihad-kun getting a heroes welcome when this is all over sickens me.
Since not trusting anything is the moral lesson where, why should we trust CB, Kataron, and Hank. I did not see proof that Hank did not make those demands so I will have none of it. Honestly Ribbons is certainly dumber than the Israelis. Ribbons had the schematics and the know how to hack and carryout a commando raid. Just because they heard Hank spouting shit doesn’t mean that they buy it let a lone give a damn. Hell would you believe some guy who took you hostage and told you all sorts of things? Probably not because if the terrorist had a good argument he would not need to wave a gun at you to make you accept it. I suppose there will be no grand commando raid on the level of the Entebbe Raid. Not only would have Ribbons made the Feddies look better it would have at least boosted the morale of the Feddie Army and restored their honor and even if a few died, it would have been a tragedy that could have been laid on Hank, most importantly of all though you ensure the Feddie Army remains loyal because they get trusted with such a task. You’d be surprised how much soldiers can be whipped into frenzy when one of their numbers does something that disgraces the uniform. By the way where is 00bama? Where is this evil Sunrise counterpart to my boss? Come on Sunrise you know you want to rain on President Obama’s parade or could it be that Obama is so awesome that you actually have to take your preconceived notions back in S1 with early S2 and shove it up your ass? I confess having President Obama is a real boon.
Really though an army is not a deterrent, nukes are a deterrent, if Hank had his head on straight he would know that, but as a Sunrise proxy I guess he never would have realized how very wrong he was. If Hank were right there would be no war, and people of the real world just love to troll Sunrise IRL. So it’s tried and true don’t trust your government crap I have come to expect from people with tin foil hats. Honestly though who can you trust then? I do however wish that every anarchist or pretend anarchist would just move to Somalia and stop spouting their shit, though unlike Hank I wouldn’t point a gun at them and tell them to do it. It is said by the shallow and the dumb that on man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter, the difference for me is that a terrorist only does shit on camera, a freedom fighter keeps going at it alone if need be and even if the cameras aren’t rolling. Case in point terrorists are like Hamas who bravely pussied out when IDF tanks started rolling in, Hamas asked for a party but did not bother to show up and make the IDF pay for every inch of Gazan soil. Freedom fighters are the poor forgotten bastards of KNLA who have been fighting the Burmese Junta for 60 years in a defensive war to protect their villages that has decimated their ranks with no outside help and a bunch of NGOs that can’t get them any sort of publicity. Same applies to every ethnic minority group that is stuck with the Burmese Junta. Go ahead and find out more, I see a difference even if you don’t.
Bob was shunted off to the side for Hank and in the end it wasn’t as breath taking as I hoped it would be, but hey at least he actually crossed swords and did not simply make a cameo. I still hold out hope for Katie and Patrick, but for me the less than noble coup, the sympathy for terrorists in light of what is going on in the world, and the Sunrise crackdown on screen caps and fan art is making me less inclined to spend as much time making a Gundam 00 post. Next time Memento Mori makes a return though if I see three of the fucking things at once I am calling quits. Still not sure how firing the Ion Cannon at the Africa Tower makes any sense, but hey I am sure there will have a good excuse. Bob almost raped Jihad-kun who was so dumbstruck by Trans-GARham that no pursuit was made after massing 4:1 odds against Bushido Bob. Still awaiting the return of Prince ali to light that boards on fire with a kill streak now that shit should have hit the fan with the second coming of Memento Mori.
On a side note I do wonder how long this no screen cap thing will last, it makes the process less enjoyable for me to be honest. I did enjoy lovingly posting screen caps of Katie and Louise, but now Sunrise seeks to rob me of that joy. I’ll keep the leaderboard going but because I am a cynic future Gundam posts might end up a lot shorter and a bit empty. I hope the crack down in Japan will fail, and Sunrise corrects itself, but in a rare show of solidarity to protest the inclusion of fan art as well I’ll play Sunrise’s little game.

Disagreed. Bob against Jihad was the most terrible battle ever. The guy just GAR’d his way on 00-Raiser, and acted like a handicap kid. 00-Raiser at one point wasn’t even moving, it just had an X block put up and Bob still kept smacking the HARDEST PART OF THE SUIT. Unless you tell me his katanas are actually plastic knives, I don’t see why he couldn’t have hit him ELSE where while the tard cried about his bullet wound and the 00-Raiser clearly was just FLOATING.
Another thing is 4 years is clearly not enough time. While the Ahead and even GARazzo at intense speeds could be withstandable, the new Trans-Am which only so much goes as fast as the current 1 drive gundams, produces far too much G-force for Bob to handle while 00-Raiser which has an even stronger output leaves Jihad with nothing more than sweat.
And yeah for the most part, yap yap yap it’s pretty dumb. Sunrise was never smart to begin with, and did Code Geass far better than 00. Mainly because you could fool the audience with “magic” and stuff to let their minds think up of excuses themselves. With 00, you really have no excuses besides the pixie dust.
And yeah, the screenshot thing is hilarious. But more hilarious is the fan art. Imagine if Disney did this. Kids would be jaded before middle school.

As Gradius has pointed out, they’ve always been anal retentive when it comes to referencing Gundam, even if it’s just a visual cue. The only issue is that Lantis is being obnoxious now too and Sankaku decided to point it out. As long as you are not making any money off it then it should be fair use. What are they going to do? Japanese law/=international law and the second MS Igloo 2 Episode comes out I will have no qualms with taking all the screencaps I damn well feel like. I suggest you do the same.

I looked this up a little bit further and it seems Lantis was the one that sent the letters out to people, not Sunrise, and this also makes sense given the fact that the claims cover a range of anime from Akikan to Munto TV Series, but also Kurokami, with the key thing in common being that Lantis has produced the music for them. I don’t see Lantis anywhere in the Gundam 00 production listing so I say you have every reason to just go ahead and keep posting screenshots. By the way, I’ve never liked Lantis policies before this, but I like them even less now.

No it seems Sankaku was pretty clear Sunrise had also sent out a message of its own Uchuu o Kakeru Shoujo is not Lantis and yet it was listed as well. So it seems Sunrise is getting anal about it too. Moreover I’d rather not cause trouble for Impz since the Singaporeans have been more malleable to Japanese orders as in the case of “XEDO” At least in the short term. I think Sunrise is one the wrong side along with Lantis even forcing fanart to be only posted on their sites is pretty galling in and of itself. I’ll keep getting my Gundam Fan art. Besides for once I want to show some solidarity with the poor bastards in animeland. I might throw up other mecha series as stand ins.

It’s a dick move nonetheless, and a gross betrayal of the fanbase for all their franchises in Japan. I’d call for a preemptive strike in a search for Weapons of Mass Censorship and regime change to follow, but I doubt President Obama would go for it.

If you follow the archive link that Artefact kindly posted then it comes in several clicks down the page after somebody asked what Sunrise’s policy is supposed to be on images in reply to Lantis’ actions. No sources, no links or anything, just a post claiming that that’s the policy. For all we know it could be, but I don’t see Sunrise taking any action on it like Lantis. Do you?
Anyway, you’re free to take the safe route, even to jump to conclusions, but I see no reason why Gundam should be off limits (Lantis has nothing to do with it or Code Geass)and will continue to post screenshots about them if need be. Artefact uses anything and everything as a source be it pure speculation or rumours and often leaves out key facts or makes stuff up altogether to fill in the blanks, which he did in this case when he speculated it was a bid by Lantis to hide the fact that some of the shows it is involved in (mostly Akikan) have wretched production values. Unless people want to now claim that Munto TV and Sora Kake Girl have poor production values? Anyway, as far as I see it his purpose is just to bring the daily lulz of 2ch and Japanese Otaku culture to our internet browser and not to be a legitimate news source.

Time will tell I suppose. Still in the age where the RIAA and copyright issue remain, we can’t simply rely on fair use. Again Japan has reached as far as Singapore with XEDO I would not discount them at this juncture. Like it or not 2ch and Japanese otaku are the frontline when it comes to information. Maybe it’s rumor, but I plan on confirming it first before tempting fate. XEDO did almost nab my roommate until they discovered that they were over reaching.

I found the source for it right on the homepage. Yeah…so apparently this policy goes at least as far back as 2005 and I don’t see how they’ve done anything to enforce it either here or in Japan. It applies to images taken from the Sunrise homepage itself it would seem. It also seems to contain a negative clause for fanart as well where they actually have to come to you and say “no you cannot publish this image without our permission” before it actually counts for anything:

And then it lists off the exception to this. Have you ever seen them come out and go “take down this fanart” before? I haven’t. So yeah they are trying to control the image of their works, but this goes way to back a stupid court case involving Konami suing an H-Doujin producer and winning on the grounds that it was damaging to the characters “pure image”. Then again copyright law in Japan might as well be decided by the roll of a D20.
Back to the policy, it doesn’t seem to count for anything to begin with unless they actually come to you and say “hey, take that fanart down or put it on this website”. Odds of that happening, exponentially less then you getting busted for downloading subtitled copies of Gundam 00 over the internet. I mean honestly, why get so worked up on such a silly thing? Corporations have always been overly protective of their work and expect people to take the first step in giving in. I can name a few other companies who have similar policies but never actually enforce them and really as some have mentioned it’s quite standard to state the preferred policy that unauthorized reproduction of a copyrighted work in part or in whole is forbidden. It’s only like…..in the credits of every movie and video game under the sun. Laughing it off I could understand, but getting freaked out over something we already knew in one way or another was the case but didn’t decide to care until now? Okay that is kind of funny actually. lol.
Anyway I kind of want to know what Lantis asked this unnamed webmaster to take down though. For all we know it might actually have been damaging to the company in some way like a leaked album cover or something they don’t want to get out to the public yet.
So in the end you’ve already decided to play it better safe then sorry Crusader, which is definitely a smart policy, but in this case it seems unnecessary. If you aren’t posting screen caps for Gundam 00 then you might as well not post screen caps for anything as every media company has the same policy listed somewhere with regard to their works. Better start taking down those True Tears caps since Lantis owns part of the copyright on those too. :/

I doubt they can retroactively enforce policy at this point, again they might not reach as far as where I am, but they can reach as far as a Impz. I am not going to let him hang for my indiscretion. Besides if it’s coming up again then it might be another crackdown, I prefer to remain cautious for the time being. It may be long standing policy, but mention of some recent series suggests at least there might be a renewed intention from Lantis to take action. I might be able to hide behind fair use, but Impz, maybe not considering how draconian Singaporean law can be. I suspect they aren’t patrolling for True Tears and are gunning for recent stuff (Aikkan, etc.) since they might feel it affects sales. Sunrise was also specifically brought up with nary a mention of PA works. Let’s not forget Singapore isn’t exactly known for being a free and fair society.
There are ways around the torrent tracking tech Companies use, which is why I no longer use torrents. First rule of war is to plan for what your enemies want to do, not what you think they can do. Who said anything about freaking out? For now this is a mere show of solidarity, if nothing comes of it it will be business as usual. Let me be frank, I don’t have deep pockets none of us at THAT do, you on other hand can afford a maid. You rich folks do not feel the hard hand of the law as severely. Last time I checked Sunrise was not spelled Lantis Corportation. Regardless if it was Lantis or Sunrise, there is no law in the US or EU that forbids artists to create fan art and publish it on the internet. I say fuck it don’t even bother listening to their bitching just keep the screen caps and fan art. It doesn’t really matter whether or not you think Japanese laws are unfair or whatnot. The fact is that Sunrise and any other business out there has every right to protect their property. Their characters are their property and if they don’t want other people using them, they have every right to stop that use. The question about whether it is, legality aside, reasonable for fanart, screenshots, etc. to appear on unofficial websites can be debated forever. Some fans might say one thing, some businessmen might say another thing.

Anyway, I hope you know what you are doing! I still don’t understand why you chose to suddenly stop posting Gundam screenshots right now, of all possible times.
I’d be wary about making statements like “I doubt they can retroactively enforce policy at this point” though. I’m sure that if Sunrise actually felt like coming down hard on THAT, they’d find a way, regardless of when the pictures were posted. Let’s hope that this blog isn’t on their radar.
I’ll continue to quietly read this blog, and I hope others will do the same, regardless of whether or not there are screenshots. Pictures are easy to come by, but good writing certainly is not. Good luck, Crusader and THAT!

Personal opinion duh, but I rather have less fights and more build ups and more quality fights. These type of sword crossing only makes the series overall quality drop, and the characters like Graham get the shaft in the future. When you look back on it say 20 years from now, Graham won’t be as credible as he was in S1, and won’t have the right to challenge Amuro and the likes in piloting skills. Of course, we can blame Graham -> Bob = Crazy-fied but a guy like Ali has nothing to hide behind.
I always thought a fight like Neil vs Ali was a real fight. Neil vs Graham was crossing swords. Or say, Graham vs Jihad when Overflag first came out. Granted, I still think the best debut was Ali with more technical moves than all of S2 combined, but oh well I’m spoiled.
And yeah, I probably shouldn’t compare everything with 8th ms and such. But I’m just SAYING, would you rather there be more DBZ fights, or just one fight or so that has the theatrics of Ip Man and the rest be used to build the story.
And yeah I don’t see why people care for the law when it doesn’t matter. It’s like if someone patents people thinking. OH NOEZ YOU THOUGHT IM SUING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR DOG AND YEAH THAT HIPPO OVER AT THE ZOO TOO.
