Gundam 00 S2 – 18: 10 Years After Would Have Been Better

I hope they are having fun on their vacation.

On the occasion corresponding to this four years ago, all thoughts were anxiously directed to an impending War. All dreaded it—all sought to avert it. While the inaugural address was being delivered from this place, devoted altogether to saving the Federation without war, insurgent agents were in the city seeking to destroy it without war—seeking to dissolve the Federation, and divide effects, by negotiation. One eighth of the whole population were Israelis, not distributed generally over the world, but localized in the Kataron part of it. These slaves constituted a peculiar and powerful interest. To strengthen, perpetuate, and extend this interest was the object for which the insurgents would rend the Federation, even by war; while the government claimed no right to do more than to restrict the territorial enlargement of it. Neither party expected for the war, the magnitude, or the duration, which it has already attained. Neither anticipated that the cause of the conflict might cease with, or even before, the conflict itself should cease. Each looked for an easier triumph, and a result less fundamental and astounding. Both plagiarize the same Old Testament, and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other. It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God’s assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men’s faces; but let us judge not that we be not judged. The prayers of both could not be answered; that of neither has been answered fully. Kataron entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. At Rotterdam, London, Warsaw, and half a hundred other places, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind. We are going to scourge Klaus’ Reich from end to end. We are bombing Kataron city by city, hideout by hideout and ever more terribly in order to make it impossible for them to go on with the war. That is our object, and we shall pursue it relentlessly. For the record I do not personally regard the whole of the remaining population of Kataron as worth the bones of one Feddie Grenadier. – Brigadier General Goodman

After fast forwarding 4 months into the future Kati and Patrick have run off as Homer who is sick of having to deal only with KFC desperately searches for them in order to have at least one competent commander. 00bama has merged the Feddie Army with the A-Laws to save on uniform costs and gray-blue paint. Sadly 00bama’s effort to one up Kawamori’s All that VF air show was a failure because there were no custom Aheads or Bushido Bob in Aoii. Feddie ion cannon production reaches a fevered pitch but it seems that despite the hubbub of having to kill one that the terrorists of CB have finally harnessed the power of Saji’s reach around to bring about great destruction in a fit of emo and lose. While 00bama gets his stimulus package passed Republicans such as Shirin would rather have no economy at all if they cannot get their tax cuts. Shirin is scared shitless as a black man has been re-elected in a landslide victory over the old Caucasian Klaus. Shirn was quoted to have said, “Damn that nigger spick Jew.” Nevertheless 00bama reached out with his automaton peace keepers in an effort to get Kataron to unclench their fists. Since Mizushima has realized what a terrible mistake it was to Marie off Soma, Marie found that her one true love was Wild Bear though with his death she can no longer play hard to get. Angry that Andrei is no Wild Bear and hot for Louise Marie decides that she wants to kill him in a fit of jealousy. Haptism being the loser harem animu male that he is can only watch with emo stare praying for the return of docile kitchen gofer Marie. Thankfully if God wanted the dumb bitch back he would have Maried it by now. As it stands Marie pretends to be Soma, but she is fated to not kill Andrie because Sunrise has to preach about forgiveness towards the end. The transformation is incomplete as this Soma while having the “fuck you losers” attitude I have come to expect, she has none of her lust for Louise. Haptism starts bawwing because his Marie won’t give him any and Somarie refuses his loser harem animu ways.

Four months on Anew and Lyle are sleeping together but because Sunrise all of a sudden decided to cut the fan service that we did not get to see Anew’s Hopes and Dreams (Damn your censorship Sunrise I wanted to see Anew shirtless not that loser Jihad-kun! Fuck your manservice!). It was decried by the 00bama administration as complete and utter bullshit as Anew could never credibly fall for that loser Lyle. Feldt was sitting on her ass and taking it like a bitch as Lyle spilled the beans to the whole ship. Sumeragi despite being the reputed genius cannot figure out how the A-Laws are tracking them so well. Instead of sweeping the ship for tracking devices or interrogating Saji and Somarie Sumeragi starts dreaming of Billy instead. Revival misses Katie dearly and in an effort to usurp Patrick’s place as the master of love decides to give Andrei some advice on love. Andrei being a shit character that Sunrise doesn’t know what to do with vacillates between love of his mum and his lust for Louise. Seems Andrei only wanted an Ahead, and all he had to do for it was kill Wild Bear who stupidly removed the Pink Plot ERA for Taozi. While Andrie is being a dick, Louise learns the horrible truth about Andrei, but is now willing to kill Saji for his acts of terrorism and lose. Klaus and Kataron think that they can catch a break but 00bama will hunt them down and all who harbor them for regime change that we can believe in. Should the Feddies use automatons to hunt down terrorist scum? YES WE CAN.

Marina and her kids stuff their faces as the fat Seelian kid starts begging for pie. Big fat Seelian kid was also fighting with another boy so I guess that all Seelians want to be big shots and boss everyone else around. 00bama got sick of their song and sent a Feddie Kill Team to deal with the Ranka wannabe Marina and that Jihad-kun poser kid after triangulating their position through their radio broadcast after the locals complained that the song was interfering with the air waves. Sadly they only manage to Kill Kenny before Sunrise pussied out and did not let us see the Feddies give Marina a new asshole. Renge and Ribbons go at it over Wang and Veda, though at this point Ribbon’s is quickly losing his just as planned mystique as he did not take advantage of Wang’s desire for immortality. It seems Wang wants to see the world burn so that she could turn back time since the time skips that have made her old, boring, and ugly. Still Hong Long would still hit it for some WINcest. Nena seeing as how being a loli in Toradora is more fun skips out on this episode.

Well it seems that Sunrise has discovered the wonders of a time skip and can now spare us the awkward duty of having to explain how the hell that loser Lyle bagged Anew and how Andrei finally got Louise to talk to his momma’s boy ass. This series has become 100% bullshit first off it is utter bullshit for Anew to be going into Lyle’s bed for any reason at all, I do not accept this as plausible and really this GN induced retardation of Anew is getting out of hand. Secondly if Soma were really back she’d kill Haptsim and take Arios for herself instead of piloting GN Archer, also she would have shot Saji in the face so that Louise would beliong to her alone. How dare they try and pass off this marie as Soma, the Soma I knew would have stabbed Saji for being a cunt within 1 hour let alone four days. Overall the time skip is on the one hand it’s great on the other hand it proves that Sunrise cannot do romance and is better off not trying. With the departure of Katie and Patrick it seems that since 00bama could not be credibly evil he has to be cartoon evil after having Goodman and Homer try to elevator drop themselves. At least back in the old days they knew that even a failed colony drop could carry consequences, but here it seems that the Feddies are so into tree hugging that they cleaned it all up in 4 months and got the Africa Tower up and running again. If only Obama were that damn good so he could get that stimulus package passed. 00bama Is clearly a man of change as his government cannot only clean up the environment, he reformed the military, and almost hunted Kataron down to extinction. This man deserves four more years, if only that racist Klaus gave 00bama a chance to do good instead of trying to bully him with terrorism.

Sad to see that the descent of the Feddies into evil required them to drop their own elevator on themselves, well if we are lucky well get the Stardust Memory equivalent that tries to explain 00bama’s first days in office. So Bob has decided to name his new suit, Aoii, though I am really starting to dislike the fact that Bob only got a small cameo with no fighting and Prince Ali is still no where to be found. It’s fine if they want to do a time skip to gloss over how they can’t write a romance, but it’s high time that the heavy hitters start making their moves. Saji is back in the fight though at this point I care little for his bullshit reasons as it seems the time skip spared us the crying and whining. With greater speed though the action has to be up to par and having Prince Ali be a no show is not going to help that. Ms. Wang finally makes her move but her reasons seem rather lame, immortality…it’s rather cliché but whatever the sooner Ribbons orders Prine Ali to kill her the better. Renge and Ribbons finally start to have a falling out and I hope Dark Amuro makes Renge pay dearly, another kill for Prince Ali perhaps?

Andrei is turning out to be a shit character, he kills his dad for an Ahead, though I guess if this is the price that we must pay to see Louise shoot Saji or at least dump his ass again so be it. Overall the chance for being one of the best AU Gundams pretty much went out the door when the Feddies dropped their own elevator onto themselves and the only way the terrorists can become heroes is if guys like Andrei have no moral conscience at all. Trying to sell me the idea of Anew falling in bed with Lyle was galling to say the least and indicates once again how broken these damned GN Particles are. At first Andrei seemed to have some principles and limited himself to lusting after Louise, but now… Well if CB is fighting guys like Andrei it’s hard not to look heroic. As such I just want to see Saji get heart broken again when Louise gives him a new asshole for Jihad-kun to sodomize. Marie decides to avenge Wild Bear, though if it truly were Soma she would have killed Haptsim and Jacked a Gundam by now…instead this Marie is wandering around with faux rage when her desertion was the direct cause for Andrei getting to do whatever he pleased. She should have stuck with Katie then at least Andrei could have been kept in check. Speaking of Katie and Patrick I hope they rally the Feddie Regulars and the good half of the A-Laws that weren’t in on the “Just as Planned” Elevator Drop. Revival seems to have discovered the power of love I hope he lives long enough to vie against Patrick for Katie’s hand, but I guess if there is going to be a way out for Katie and Patrick it might as well be Katie’s innovator admirer. Even with the bullshit big brother line that it being towed, it’s not that terrible if Patrick can slip under the radar. Well at least Kataron has been hounded to extinction so we no longer have to put up with how utterly useless they are. I liked it more when the Federation was just an unprincipled nation state and not generic evil empire #3720. Was it too much to hope that 00bama would have been almost 10% Stalin?

    This seems like a better point to have ended S1 really or be some sort of mid season finale but w/e. Where the hell is Ali? Is he actually using the money from being a mercenary and taking a vacation? At this point I just want Ribbons to colony drop ( because we know that he’s thinking about it with that speech about getting rid of the old) and kill everybody. Is that so wrong?

    Soma will get her chance when Jihad-kun drags Louise back kicking and screaming. So if Soma offs Andrei and never forces herself on Louise then who does the kill go to? Marie?

    I understand that Soma is back, but shouldn’t she have reverted back to the Soma that existed at the beginning of season 2, and not the stupidly proud loli of 4 years ago? I don’t remember Soma ever yelling about how she’s a super soldier even once this season.

    Also, when did Bitch Wang start referring to her brother as Onii-sama. We knew he was her brother, but she has always called him Bitchslave or something to that effect. Sunrise loophole? I predict her death by episode 21.

    If Katie joins CB, it’ll be the most waste of time ever. What are she and Sumeragi gonna do, agree with each other the whole time?

    So, besides Bob, I’m guessing it’s Ali who gets the second license? Since Regene doesn’t seem to do jack yet and there’s no one left.

    That makes me sad, since that just demotes FujiKei to waiting to die status =[ not even a “HELLO ITS THE PRINCE” in a preview.

    On the side note, it’s kind of awkward how they pulled it off, but it does seem like setting up for an epic conclusion.

    And yeah, Lyle’s gonna die probably. Maybe it has something to do with killing Ali. IT’LL BE A REPEAT EXCEPT THIS TIME HE WILL GET THE KEEEEEL. Or Fatty Gundam will steal it at the end. Cherry picker.

    You know what’s hilarious? The kid just picks up the gun at the end. It makes NO SENSE. The kids had like ZERO foreshadowing or hints that they even remotely experienced violence in front of their eyes. And they were cheery for all these years. OH NOEZ WE GONNA GET SHOT and instead of hiding like Papa Klaus tells you to the dumb kid goes on and grabs the gun. Next up Patrick’s going to come out in the Nu-Freedom and decimate everyone with his skeelz.

    And I still don’t get how they got away with saying Mori helped the orbital elevator crap. I mean, if they didn’t mention it, okay sure. But now you admitted openly you SHOT THE ELEVATOR and lives were LOST due to the debris falling all over. I mean yeah they photoshopped the guys in the elevator dying off, but not the people who were living there below right? Otherwise what do they have to say to OH LETS SHOOT DEBRIS SAVING ABSOLUTELY NO ONE CAUSE THEY SUPPOSEDLY LEFT ALREADY?

    Well, unless you were inside the tower (and therefore dead) or an A-LAWS soldier fighting to protect Memento Mori (and therefore mentally retarded and/or 90% brainwashed) you wouldn’t actually be able to physically see the laser hit the tower from that high. Mannequinn didn’t actually see, but she figured it out on her own using her computer and ultimately decided to run, and now the government is after her! Hmmmmmm. So they could’ve just pretty much editted anything they wanted, said anything they wanted, and fed it to planet earth, who has probably grown stupid from 200 years of internet usage.

They don’t want to get into the complicated politics of what would happen if MM shooting the elevator got displayed to the public so they are going with A-Laws censorship. Really on the political side this is nowhere near as deep as S1, they are going with making A-Laws and their puppet masters just plain evil and not going for subtlety, so don’t think too much about it.

    Well, the way I see it, with her memories back Soma really only has a handful of things to hang on to. Sergei, and pride in herself. The only thing she has left of Sergei is memories, and a desire for vengeance. That doesn’t put nearly as much in maintaining her sense of self as her pride in herself does.

    The kids had like ZERO foreshadowing or hints that they even remotely experienced violence in front of their eyes.

    To be fair, the kids were at the Kataron day care/orphanage because either their parents were dead (from raids before the Federation had kill-bots), or likely to be dead (and as the kids have likely been told by now, died when Memento Mori began obliterating cities/bases/camps, deemed inconvenient). So while most of them likely haven’t seen violence before their eyes, they’re likely more familiar than most kids with the concepts of fighting and violent death.

    Really on the political side this is nowhere near as deep as S1, they are going with making A-Laws and their puppet masters just plain evil and not going for subtlety, so don’t think too much about it.

    No, just plain evil is the Earth Alliance in Gundam Seed/Destiny. The A-Laws and the Innovators at least have redeeming qualities scattered about. I’d say the A-Law is more an organization that’s in the middle of being corrupted by absolute power.

    @Crusader: Nah….I’m usually just not really paying much attention, what can I say? Though I would suggest (again?) that you check out some MS Igloo 2 if you are looking for something akin to 08th MS Team. Matches and surpasses it in terms of grunt action I would say and doesn’t have the cobbled together love story that brings down 08th MS Team in the 3rd quarter when the gloves should be coming off between the Feds and Zeon instead.

    Hey I can’t blame 00bama for trying to be me-I am just that awesome…I kid.

    Anyway I don’t know about others but does anyone miss the political universe and drabble of season 1? I mean it seems that with the Three Power Blocs characters like Sergei and Billy seemed to have more importance and factions actually seemed more realistic or at least within in reason as far as what motivates and drives them.

    Of course not all of it made sense but I rather like it more than the whole united world thing. Then again I dislike A-Laws, but I don’t like Kataron or Celestial Being either. At any rate A-Laws is a legal CB and Kata is just a bunch of useless cannon fodder made to point out how evil the Federation is.

    Oh and one random question; how does an Automan sneak down the street to kill a bunch of Kataron guys without anyone noticing?

    So does anyone else feel that the whole Anew and Lyle thing was rather random from the get-go?

    Not a big fan of either really, actually I am not a big fan of anyone now that I think about it. I would rather see all of CB blown to kingdom come with the exception of Tiera, Soma (with the promise of her returning to her true love), Jihad-kun, and I guess Saji.

    So here is to the hope that Sunrise proves that they don’t hate me by reviving the Wild Bear of Russia and reuniting Some and Louise-and then just stopping the series there before they can cock it up.

    oh dear, not only is andrei not punished for his blue on blue, but he got promoted! what the hell!? no wonder katie has gone AWOL, A-LAWs are by far worse than CB, not only do they have worse standards but seeing as they include the likes of ali and andrei, they also promote patricide in all its forms. on the plus side it did plant the seeds of doubt into louise’s mind, and also awoke the sleeping devil that is soma, i almost pity the A-LOLS sods who will inadvertantly get in between her and her quarry.

    and how convenient that nothing is ever the federation’s fault, no no no the federation shall not be vilifed, its not the A-LAWs fault for blowing up the elevator with their giant killsat, but the enemies fault for not getting hit by it, then again politics 101 is ‘blame everyone else for your cockups’.
    now that i think about it, after hearing ribbons’ speach about making everyone equal and such, the federation is starting to resemble the USSR, what with the secret police, airtight media control, brutal systematic wiping out of dissidents, and the fact their special task force uses red mobile suits.

    a vote for the federation is a vote for communism.

    hey it makes sense now..Gundam 00 is based loosely on the cold war. with an anti communism message wrapped around it for good measure.

    btw, crusader why are you deducting from jihad-kuns killscore? yes we know you hate him but thats no excuse to deduct kills from his score, he should be at 1.67 at least for when he took out lee zejihang in episode 9. if not for that character then for the fact that he took out a battleship on his own when the 00 still had bugs in it.

    also i don’t know about you, but i would rather anew was thrown out of an airlock quicksmart, cos there is no way i’d want that walking GPS coordinate of death near me for any period of time.

    Prince Ali’s vacation would indeed be very awesome. Screw Katie in the morning(because we all know Patrick can’t satisfy her), go to the Bahamas for lunch, then finish off the night by raping Nena. Good god they could make their own spinoff with just that.

    So now we know that not only is Lyle incompetent compared to his brother (Why did Setsuna choose the retard brother instead of some other sniper? This probably has to do with Sunrise needing a major death and setting up a twin so the fangirls’ don’t kill them) but he’s also amazingly stupid as well. How have they been finding the ship for the past few times? It seems common sense would dictate it’s the noobs aboard so either Saji or Anew are responsible. They don’t seem particularly worried which is again just lazy writing on the part of Sunrise. Also seems that Louise might be biting the bullet next episode as we see Saji crying as he’s in the mobile suit(I know it wouldn’t be anything new). However that might be one way to keep his ass as we know he’s now in it deep and for him to get the kill shot later against Ali(that would be hilarious, that the crybaby gets the final kill for his sister when half the Meisters can’t do it).

    Oh yea Andrei being promoted really had nothing to do with the rebellion but shutting out another voice that saw the truth of what A-Laws did. It should be hilarious when Andrei finds out that his dad was on a secret mission for the government but that might not happen. The guy is such a self righteous prick though that it makes me sick and I hope somebody offs his ass ASAP but that obviously won’t happen as they need Soma in action for a few episodes to create drama between her and Hallelujah.

    I also think with Katie being gone and being one of the few remaining sane voices that A-Laws is about to get alot worse than they already are. I also think Sumeragi is going to be biting the bullet sooner or later so Katie, if they don’t kill her or something like that, can take over CB (that’s ep.22 or ep.23, mind you).

    Oh I wouldn’t count the Innovators out yet as again going by Ribbon’s speech, I think he’s planning on just wiping out humanity and starting from scratch or a colony drop to reduce the population. Trust me, Ribbons has got something up his sleeve due to Veda and around ep.20 maybe we’ll find out what it is when they get to Veda. Ribbons has a god complex equal to Light and the fact that he didn’t break a sweat about the 2nd MM being destroyed definitely means that his true ace hasn’t been revealed yet.

    @D.J aka Sakura: Probably because she doesn’t seem to know herself (kind of like the Final Five in Battlestar Galactica didn’t know they were Cylons until the switch went off) yet and he doesn’t have access to Veda and GN particles or whatever he needs in order to form a mind meld with one of the other innovators. That and they have no real reason to suspect her yet as so far all she’s done is her job. My guess is he finds out though once they get Veda back, which I am assuming they do sooner rather then later.

    If you want to use BSG then a better example might be 33 since they were getting attacked they started to suspect there being a cylon in the fleet or onboard. Also for the Final Four we do know that on some unconscious level they recognized each other and them being cylons themselves as how else would they have interacted with each other on the past such as the Resistance, Anders sleeping with Tory, and Anders going after Starbuck (we still have no clue wtf Starbuck is). Here however CB has not even MENTIONED the word spy atleast once and seem perfectly content with not finding out how A-Laws is tracking them down so well. We don’t even see CB do a sweep of the ship for tracking devices. I mean it would be common sense that either Saji or Anew would be giving out the location even without assuming one was an Innovator(dear god help us all if Saji was an Innovator). Also as we saw in the last scene with Tieria and Saji getting that tingle should be a major hint everytime they get an attack as she would be submitting data. It’s not that they aren’t getting the hints, it’s that they are too stupid to do anything with it.

    @Jarmel: Yeah, it probably has to do simply with the fact that Battlestar Galactica is a tighter written and produced series overall. Then again that goes for most American TV versus anime these days. It’s one of the reasons I’ve started watching Sci-Fi a lot more then I’ve been watching anime.

    One that is that close to orbit? Yeah at least a glimpse. You can see the moon in day time if you look hard enough, so it’s no big deal to see a GIANT LASER. Attributing the terrorist being responsible for the debris wholely is impossible, since said terrorists were also the ones who helped shoot down the debris and were seen by the evacuees.

    The sheer size of the orbital elevator and the orbital ring would suggest that it’s not impossible to see for the naked eye once you add in say, a scope of some sort. There’s no friggin way NO ONE tried looking up when the situation was so hot. And obviously, Kataron shouldn’t have ALL their spies within their stupid sand villages, so anyone who’s willing to help at a very minimum level that lived at Africa Tower pretty much would gg the theory.

    First you hardly read the whole thing and then you nitpick the parts you managed to catch. It’s fine if they want to be evil, but good grief how is dropping your elevator on yourself going to be a good idea? The Titans at least had their kick the dog moment when they gassed a colony, they did not gas themselves…

    Face it the elevator drop was rather lame and hardly seemed plausible now that we know Goodman was going to blow the whole thing. As for the Kenny thing it was a joke you know based on Camiile being a girl’s name? You’re being quite rude for one not reading everything and then trying to make insulting statements out of it. My main problem was that taking out their own elevator made little sense if you think about it, the orbital elevators are the very foundation on which the Federation and its economy were built on, trying to blow up the Africa Tower was pretty dumb if you as me. Then again I am not one of those who believe that 9/11 was an inside job, and I do not buy into the idea that something this big could have been easily covered up.

    There are other ways they could have gone about it, instead they opted for a colony drop on themselves… sure it’s evil, but it is insanely dumb and hardly in the spirit of Treize.

    I am sure that you have a perfectly good explanation for them wanting to drop the Africa Tower on themselves, but I don’t see how it is such a good idea when the projected ecological disaster would have annihilated the Federation’s member states not to mention that fact that Homer and 00bama were probably going to suffer from it too. Really the time skip served more to hide the fact that there is no way they could have credibly sold us one Lyle and Anew so they made it arbitrary.

    Really if all you want to do is not read the post and trolling based on what you glossed over you might as well never come back. This is growing tiresome I want to like Gundam 00 but this could have been handled in a plausible manner. I don’t have to praise the way they pulled this one off.

    I am not screaming at you, but for goodness sake quit being troll with your combative diction. You are free to defend how dropping the Africa Tower on themselves was such a damn good idea, but please stop playing victim when no one has cast a stone at you.

    I’m going to play Devil’s advocate here and by no means do I believe this but here’s an idea.

    Maybe some of the higher ups are promised to be Innovators like Wang if they follow the orders of the Innovators, as the whole incident seems more like Ribbons idea.

    Ribbons gets four bonuses out of this, he kills all the troops and civilians who were there and might know the truth, can blame the elevator incident on terrorists and get A-Laws control of the military, get rid of CB, and possibly damage a large portion of the Earth and the ecological disaster could force people to go into space to survive.

    Again this would be from Ribbon’s benefit and I have no clue why in god’s name, A-Laws would agree to this unless the leaders’ benefitted from this or the Innovators promised them something in exchange(still weak reason).

    Possibly on the pure evil thing. But like I said, my comparison is the Earth Alliance from CE. It’d be hard for Ribbons, Homer, or 00bama to match Djibril for pure, cartoony evil. Likewise it’d be difficult for the Innovators to match the extends. The leaders are running off their idea of what’s for the greater good, and the grunts have redeeming human qualities, such as actually giving a damn about others.

    As for the 10% Stalin thing, I think we’re gonna have to settle for control of the media and callousness towards the lives of their detractors/troublemakers. And Ribbon’s dislike of rich people that look down upon others like Wang, and Corner.

    As for the whole elvator drop thing, I’m of mixed opinions. On the one hand, the smart thing to do would have been to just storm the elevator. It’d be messy but you’d likely save most of the hostages, and it’d put everything Hercules said to them in doubt. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about your own troops seeing MM blast the elevator and raising undesirable questions. On the other hand, destroying the elevator eliminates pretty much all witnesses that’d make a fuss in the general public, and would give the A-Law’s the public support it’d need to absorb the regular military and stifle further problems on that end. As it took only four months to repair the elevator to the point of restoring power distribution, the loss apparently wouldn’t be as catastrophic as it appears.

    I suppose it could be said that dropping the elevator is smart from the standpoint that it lets the A-Laws take over the Federation, and they can get away with it. Kinda like how back in episode 1-2 they weren’t particularly upset that CB was back as it meant they could get more funding.

    As for the tracking thing, they’ve probably tried and come up more or less blank. Excepting someone directly seeing Anew’s in a trance, the best evidence they can get is that Soma keeps picking up QBWs directed at them. Given CB’s lack of knowledge about them, they wouldn’t be able to do much about it. Given that their only other experience with Innovators inexplicably tracking them down is Regene finding Tiera without Tiera being aware, the logical conclusion is that it’s just more of the same.

    - Soma’s “return” actually just being her feeling guilt over Sergei’s death and wanting to play the role of his daughter Soma Peries again. No shooting people in the face since that’s not actually Soma, that’s Marie playing Soma.

    - That 00Bama is a pawn to begin with and incapable of really doing anything that Ribbons doesn’t desire of him whether it’s cartoon evil or not? And so far the only really cartoon evil villain is Goodman who seems like he belongs in the Earth Alliance rather then A-LAWS.

    - The real purpose of the time skip, which wasn’t to avoid developing Lyle & Anew’s romance (totally tertiary by the way), but to introduce a reasonable space of time wherein 00Bama with Ribbons help could do his spin control, it could have it’s effect, and he could introduce his new policy of merging Titans with EFF er…. A-LAWS with the Earth Federation Army

    - That the Feds didn’t drop the tower on themselves, A-LAWS ALMOST did, and even then unintentionally at that since where the shot ended up wasn’t the actual target. Their goal was to attempt to clean up the mess with the coup d’etat and avoid bad publicity for the Federation at any cost by pinning it on CB and Hank’s rebels. It was Setsuna’s fault to begin with that the tower was even hit since his actions redirected the blast into the tower itself instead of the low orbital station situated at the very top if it, which was supposed to be the target. It’s like Jenga, you take the top off of it and it doesn’t fall, however try to take a part off of the middle very roughly and see what happens…….well actually the tower didn’t even come down since it was just a glancing blow, it purged it’s mirrors to keep it’s structural integrity and so that the whole thing didn’t end up crashing down in large chunks. There are so many ways that that situation could have been worse then it was, but also a number of ways in which it could have been less potentially destructive then it was.

    @D=: Hmmmm……I’m wondering when people are going to realize that anime writing just plan isn’t top-tier writing or usually even good writing and that generally whatever allows shows to get by at minimal cost is what will be done with the script more often then not. This really isn’t just a special case for Gundam or Sunrise’s writers or whatever, it goes for pretty much everything to do with anime, especially these days. I’m wondering when people are either going to learn to adjust to this or to move on to something else. Me, I’ve kind of done both since as I’ve mentioned I don’t watch a lot of anime anymore nor do I really see reason to complain about what I already know. I’ve long since lost the will to get worked up about my anime or complain since I know it’s not going to change anything and that I have more important things to worry about and to get worked up over. Take that as you will.

    Although, if people really do want to share gripes here is one gripe I’ve had for a long time. Back in Season 1 there was this flashback scene from about 100 years ago at the beginning of an episode that showed some people searching a derelict ship at Jupiter. At one point one of them finds a dead crew member and then they stumble upon Nena’s Haro which is stowed away and say that this is what they’ve been searching for and will provide them with the answers or something like that. What ever happened with this scene and what was it’s significance? It seems like it had no impact on Season 1 and has certainly not been addressed as far as Season 2 goes. It’s like it was just there…..kind of like Marina. Anyway that’s the one thing I’ve been waiting for them to clear up all of this time and the only real significant loose end/potential plot hole that I can identify and that is bothering me.

    The problem here though is that we don’t have much to work with in discerning Homer and 00bama’s motivations. Goodman seems set to do things out of pure fucking meanness which is fine, but hardly makes things interesting. So far Homer indicated he hand little trust in them, and only reluctantly called for their help, his motivations could be complex but right now they have yet to capitalize on it. Be great if they did flesh out character motivations though for the Feddie big wigs.

    I’d still prefer 00bama to be Stalin-lite at least some of the cast might start dying or disappearing. After all Stalin did have some mad photoshop skills… ;)

    The Problem with the A-Laws is all Homer ever wanted was a bigger budget and to ensure the safety of the Federation, at no point do we see him lusting for power. Goodman on the otherhand does things out of pure fucking meanness which is a bit out of place when Homer is ostensibly calling the shots.

    If they knew that much about Renge they ought to do something about Tieria then…sadly they don’t.

    I don’t want you to say anything, but I would like it if you would stop jumping down my throat for not giving a flying fuck about every thing that goes on, my life doesn’t revolve around this show.

    I know of “Soma’s” new found motivation, I just won’t give two shits until she kills Andrei, kicks, Haptism in the balls, and punches Saji. Also I have made it abundantly clear that she is dead to me until she kisses Louise, I don’t give a fuck about her new found desire to pilot for Wild Bear, at least until Andrei dies. Otherwise it was all for naught in the end. Again I know her spiel I just don’t give a fuck.

    The problem with Homer and 00bama is that we have two leaders of some quality that have not really had their motivations fleshed out, for instance what is Homer’s deal? Is he out for power? If so why has he not shown a desire for public office or made demands to 00bama in regards to the Feddie Regular Army. Moreover Homer was suspicious of the Innovators, they could tell us you know. I’d like to know even if you don’t, Goodman doing things out of pure fucking meanness seems out of place, one minute he’s having a civilized conversation then he’s cartoon evil in his bid to blow up the elevator.

    In regards to the elevator, there was a high orbit station if you paid any attention, but you did not and hence you falsely assume that the low orbit station was at the top, it wasn’t. Read between the lines every one saw AnewxLyle coming a mile away, but if you read, which you did not you would have picked up on the fact that I don’t accept the notion that Anew would want to be with Lyle.

    Honestly I would have liked to see Ribbons doing his thing instead of skipping over it. The A-Laws are a part of the Federation same as how Delta Force and the CIA are still part of America even if they operate outside the rules. The Titans were still Feddies, hence why it was a civil war…Same thing applies here only the A-Laws have yet to really take it out on the Feddie Regulars. Homer so far had acted in accordance with 00bama’s policies, he has yet to show he’s out to take control of the Federation, he’s still a Feddie at heart.

    So yeah your jenga theory is useless because there was a high orbit station on top of it.

    You don’t read the post, you don’t pay attention to the show, so really why the hell are you giving the rest of us a hard time? Dropping the elevator or even risking the Africa Tower was stupid no matter how you try and cut it. The Federation succeed largely because they were able to provide a decent standard of living, damaging the Africa Tower or nearly bringing it down would have destroyed all that and caused a huge ecological disaster for the 328 member states including the Middle East. It’s easier for you to swallow since you seem sympathetic to conspiracy theories, but just because you buy into them doesn’t mean we have to nor do we have to conform to your line of thinking.

    You can say what you want, but really you have been rude and crass about it. If the only reason you are here is to give us a hard time without paying attention to at least the episode then I have to ask you to leave. There was a High Orbit Station, so sit on that for a second.

    @ Crusader, well yes his loyalty is a very good selling point :) Part of the problem with Lyle is they haven’t really devoted any time to really developing, so he’s just so so.

    The others have the benefit of having been around in the first season so we know them better. Lyle of course isn’t Neil and they want to set him apart from his bro, but sadly have really failed to do so.

    Maybe they intended for him to be kind of like Michael from MF. He’s portrayed as not hanging onto the past like his brother. Perhaps thats because its easier than dealing with the pain of it, much like Michael flirted with everything that moved because he never wanted to get attached to someone for fear of losing them after his sister died.

    Well if they had gone as far to do something like that, he’d be a lot more interesting, because really all he is right now is eye candy.

    And his twin even beats him at that with the sexy eyepatch XD

    @Crusader: You’ve been rude and crass to me many times in the past, but I’ve never been bothered by it. I figured that if you could deal out the hard hits and say stuff like “You don’t pay attention to the show” and “GET OFF MY LAWN!” that you would have no trouble with me second guessing your points once in a while. You once told me that you enjoy shooting at the hip with me so I’m kind of disappointed that that’s changed since I find it fun too.

    Really though if you don’t give a damn about everything that goes on in the show (which is every bit your right by the way) then does that not mean you too wouldn’t be paying attention to everything that is going on it like you claim I am failing to? Actually I am paying attention and I’m sure you are too (I also read the post obviously since I commented on it) it’s just that we see a LOT of things differently. We have different preferences and tolerance levels in how we want our shows to develop and we’re like polar opposites in some regards, but doesn’t that make things more interesting around here?

    Anyway, here’s something interesting then that I found while doing some supplementary reading on the orbital elevator. The AEU elevator is supposed to be incomplete so there’s a good chance that means there is no high orbital station on that section yet. Have you seen an AEU high orbital station? I’ve seen an HRL one back in season 1, but no AEU one, though maybe I missed it. Also according to canon the AEU portion of the structure isn’t even supposed to be fully complete yet so shooting at the low orbital station and taking it down to get rid of all of their enemies in one fell swoop was the kind of weighted decision that makes sense for the Innovators and A-LAWS to make.

    Plus like a lot of your arguments you seem to run totally on assumption here. Assuming I didn’t read your post, assuming I’m into conspiracy theories, that I’m pro-terrorist etc. Well whatever, I know what’s what so we can skip right over that, but just for fun and since I am game for it let’s assume then. Assuming that there is a high orbit station on that section of the elevator, how do you absolutely know for certain beyond a reasonable doubt that the shot would have brought down the whole orbital elevator and that there wasn’t some built in safety mechanism like the one with the tower that allowed for it to stay standing and maintain structural integrity even after a glancing blow. For all we know a high orbital ring might have more holding it up then just the towers (and really how could three tower hold that entire super structure in place without some other form of support) or it could be designed to break away and eject off into space if it’s critically damaged so that it won’t fall back down to Earth and cause a doomsday scenario. Obviously this is an assumption (even though I can’t forsee any reason why it would not be designed to do that out of practicality) and we could stay here forever speculating till the cows come home, but I don’t really feel much like it since this is something we are never likely to know for sure.

    Anyway, next episode you and I and everyone should get to see what happens when the Feddies get merged with the A-LAWS. Who will be who’s bitch? Do we even really need to ask that question? Oh well, I too am curious to see how Homer will act.

    I would ask you to understand one thing though, I am not here to try and make you and your comrades conform to my way of thinking, I’m not into that sort of thing and I see it as a pointless endeavour, I am merely here to be…..shall we say the “official opposition”. Some might also call it devil’s advocate. I love to play it. Anyway, since you’ve insisted though I will take the next couple months off from commenting on THAT so as not to be a total buzzkill for you and your comrades brand of humour. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got a raging headache that I’ve got to take care of.

    Right now Revival has shown more interest in romancing people than Lyle who plays around liek he did with Feldt, who is incidentally been nothing but eye candy really.

    You stated before you didn’t pay much attention, and like I said you felt i glossed over some things when in fact I got everything, but I have no toruble being honest about it. Marie can say all the pretty little words she wants, but deeds not words is how I measure character.

    The Africa tower is complete Hank took control of the power plant if you remember and in the last ep, 17, at 11:53 they specifically mention Africa Tower’s High Orbit Station. Your data is obsolete it seems that the Feddies did complete the the Orbital Elevators during those four years CB spent picking their noses. So unless you can find recent evidence to support the incomplete tower idea, you have failed to prove anything. Your reasoning is only plausible if the Low Orbit Station was the highest point, which it isn’t unless for some reason hgih orbit is lower than low orbit.

    I told you to GET OFF MY LAWN because you got out of hand you’re getting out of hand now with your self righteous attitude in thinking that we are wrong to believe that the elevator drop on themselves was anything but dumb. Also if you say you don’t care for Football then you are not welcome in any post that mentions my favorite spectator sport. Your Jenga theory is not helped by the fact that there is a High Orbit Station on the Africa Tower, quite how you missed that is beyond me. Secondly I have assumed nothing about you, your posts and comments regarding the Miao Conspiracy to Bash Sunrise is not unknown to me, nor is your fervent insistence on the right to rebel, thirdly you said it yourself you did not pay attention to the post in your second comment. Lastly and most importantly of all you did not take notice of the High Orbit Station so I cannot say you were paying attention, and neither can you. It just makes no sense for the Feddies to have an incomplete tower just sitting there for over four years, and the existence of the High Orbit Sation proves that the Feddies are not that dumb, the stupid just struck recently.

    Your Official Opposition stance gets rude quick and until recently often right off the bat. Do what you want, but really you are sounding like a Republican asking for more tax cuts. Your arguments have become less about discussing the episode than about defending questionable writing practices and developments. This farce you presented on the incomplete tower sounds like Intelligent Design bullshit, this is the second time that you have elected to be in opposition for the sake of being confrontational, the last time was when Soma was Maried off. What you call devil’s advocate has often been little more than troll comments for the sake of defending Sunrise.

    If you merely wish to take up the philosophy “We shall support whatever the enemy opposes and oppose whatever the enemy supports” then go right ahead, but really it doesn’t make you look like you are thinking instead of towing the Sunrise is great line.

    Just to be clear though the High Orbital station exists, and Katie’s damage projection indicates that any debris fall would have been rather catastrophic, hence why we even had every one vs falling debris. If the ring were stable enough as it is why even bother with towers? Gravity wins out sooner or later, and just because you think jettisoning the rest of the tower makes sense doesn’t mean from an engineering stand point that it is possible. Every sub could use an escape shuttle, but they have yet to be put in. If the towers were not so important why bother with the heavy guard? It makes more sense that like any large structure loss of a major pillar of support might compromise the whole thing. Of course if you want things to have less realism I am sure Sunrise can just add some more GN Particles to shove it down our throats. Judging by the hazards of the Russian and US Space Programs even a minor failure can be catastrophic. It’s not that easy to be in space, that much is a fact.

    LOL wow first time poster / site viewer was just browsing around, but this post is pretty dam funny. I like Gundam 00 I mean there are those arbitrary tidbits which make it strange, but overall the entire anime’s basis is rather justified. Setsuna the overly emo child who killed his family in the name of God and now pilots a gundam to make up for it…wait i’m sorry he is a Gundam =O. Lockon whos parents were killed by Setsuna’s terrorist group and swears revenge, Allelujah whom is created into a split personality monster, rather funny but none the less sad, and Tiera who has massive gender confusion, hell all we know about him is that hes an Innovator based of Regene. I’m not one to mind the tears and stuff I think that adds to the effect of war I mean hell if a secret that you needed to keep in order to secure victory was released wouldn’t a person be upset, or if your best friend / brother died in front of your eyes would a person not cry. I think it adds a bit to the realism since I don’t think even the coldest hearted bastard wouldn’t at least shed a tear. I do agree theres a lot of stupidity in the anime especially with the federation droping the elevator on themselves >_>; i mean hell, but overall the point of the anime itself is to say Humans are pretty dam stupid as a whole. Now as for the thing with Anew and the Lockon#2 I deem it kinda sudden and the time skip did add to the ambiguity, but it’s not like it wasn’t hinted at they were eying each other a few episodes earlier, true it wasn’t much to go off but I implied it at that point. Setsuna himself is another issue especially when everyone is saying the person they fight for and our little Soran says Gundam o.O;; yes a shocker, but as I said they were saying what they are fighting for and Gundam is a symbol for his idealogy of what he fights for. Tiera and Veda is another story I don’t know what the hell is up with that, all I can say is that he still feels connected to it. Allelujah has always been laid back while Hallelujah the psycho “died” it was sad, but I’m pretty sure hes going to come back sometime soon since Allelujah cant pilot at all without his quantum brainwave use. His death was also a symbol though for the end of the struggle at least at that point. The characters I really dislike are Louise, Saji, and Soma. Louise is a hypocritical @#$%& how the hell you gonna delete all your pictures of Saji for finding out he was in the Gundam…he wasn’t even flying the dam thing he was in the dam power source attachment (another symbol btw). And the thing with the pills she does I mean hell yes your family is dead, but Setsuna killed his own family and Lockon’s died in a terrorist attack you don’t see them popping pills, I say its an excuse to be a druggy(Honestly I think it has something to do with the hand though). Saji himself is a little punk, true he is torn between the war his with girl on the other side of it…but come on man grow some balls and shoot things how the %*$^ are you supposed to get with her when your girl has more balls than you. Hell she’s willing to shoot you down for no reason at this point. Soma herself is just…wow, her character development is as amazing as Allelujah, but man I don’t know I wanna see how they finish her character development.
    Overall Gundam 00 has the elements of good mecha anime. One of the main characters died, everyone hates the heros, the biggest douche in the series’ name is Ribbons (thats just awesome xD). The mecha kick ass and the hope of the earth relies on either the path destined by the innovators, or a path of freedom that can only be achieved through highly disturbed people such as celestial being.
    The anime is purely political of the times if you really focus on it, and if you analyze it for a good enough time sunrise didn’t do such a bad job thus far pointing out the direction of our times. Theres quite a bit more to say, but I’ll leave it at that and I wont go into the even bigger issue of our hypocritical CB informant who I refuse to name for I despise her even more than Saji.

    Anyways that’s my two cents worth

    (On a side note sorry for bad grammar and paragraphs and structure, but I was just righting as I went along. If ya want me to post with better structure/clarity of anything I said I’ll take the time to do so)
