Well now that I can type more comfortably with this new ergonomic keyboard I can go full tilt in praise of this episode, the beach episode was fairly well done especially since Haruka did look most dashing as she was better animated this time around. How it took this long for Kana to demonstrate her car sickness. Still I think that the reasoning behind his loli powered burial was lost on Takeru. Fujioka sure was lucky to get to go and I nearly fell out of my chair when it looked like he was about to feel up Haruka. I don’t think any of us would have blamed him if he did… Surprisingly enough it seems that Uchida is one step ahead of the rest in laughing at the notion that Chiaki only wants to be Fujioka’s imouto. Fujioka sadly though had his hopes raised and then brutally dashed when Kana made a confession, to everyone. I am still not sure why Kana didn’t just throw up on Takeru in revenge but going for Chiaki’s bag was evil enough I suppose. Still just what did cross Fujioka’s mind when Haruka said that Chiaki was always using it?

Not sure why Maki is the only one of Haruka’s friends who came to her home, nut I suppose that Maki is keen on BEING FRIENDLY with Haruka. I think I know why Hayami always sets Hosaka on Maki, it might well be to train a successor. After all Maki was able to screw with Fujioka’s mind in a way reminiscent of Hayami with Hosaka. The spoon thing was delightful, but the best part was when Fujioka challenged Touma to an eating contest. Just as Mako-cakes is starting to lose his gender identity, so too is Touma for the short term as she’s quite enthusiastic when partaking of manly contests with Fujioka. They are very much BEING FRIENDLY. Fujioka is definitely becoming more like Hosaka though he doesn’t know it yet, already we have seen him get FRIENDLY with Touma, and now it seems that Fujioka has adopted the food offensive portion of the Hosaka doctrine. Those Japanese watermelons seem rather small, but I guess not all of them have to be square. Still I find it weird that people would put salt in their watermelon, I know Southern folks do it, but their weird and pile on sugar on peanut butter… Kana has learned some new skills it seems as she can actually cook “Ninjin Loves You Yeah!” curry now that will not kill people and can spit a respectable distance. Still would have been more awesome if she sang the Ballad of the Curry no Yousei. Even if Hosaka and Hayami are missing I guess we can console ourselves with Hayami in training, Maki-can, and Hosaka in training Fujioka. Though we need to have a Fujioka fantasy just to be sure that Fujioka can stay the course.

Poor Uchida can’t seem to get the better of Chiaki, but at least she still has Mako-cakes. I was not expecting Mako-cakes to make a return and it seems that once again that Mako-cakes is getting a bigger animation budget. So far it seems that Mako-cakes is at least learning the art of subterfuge though he is stumbling in intelligence. I love how Mako-cakes was going to help Uchida and then copy her. Once again Mako-cakes proves how dignity is such a trifling thing as Chiaki whispered in his ear, and he liked it… Perhaps he is vaguely aware of how awesome Chiaki will be once she becomes All Woman Chiaki (whom I sorely miss). In the end Mako-cakes wins over Chiaki and Uchida gets to copy the summer homework (thank goodness we don’t have that BS in the US). I am impressed that at such a tender young age that they already know how to cheat. Touma was right though why shouldn’t she be allowed to copy? I suspect that Uchida is starting to take an interest in Mako-cakes and sought to deny Touma any help from Mako-cakes. Sad to see that the special relationship between Touma and Mako-cakes is not as it once was, though I suppose that Touma could have jumped Mako-cakes after Uchida left. Yoshino seems to have stopped harassing Mako-cakes for reasons unknown, and I did enjoy the terror that Yoshino instilled in Mako-cakes, maybe it will make a return. Perhaps this is the beginning of Mako-cakes’ youth and all it cost him was his manhood and his dignity. Truly the female gender is quite enamored with itself, even grade school girls seem to be attracted to guys who look like girls. Once again it seems that Mako-cakes is going to keep with the color coordination and has no problems going out into public by himself. He didn’t even bring a change of clothes or even think about changing once he knew that Haruka was out.

Chiaki has definitely been losing out to Kana this season as for most of the summer it seems Chiaki made the same mistake over and over again in trusting Kana bearing food. The soy sauce ice shavings was so evil, I have to try it sometime. Touma has discovered the greatest gift for Japanese in Matsutake mushrooms which seem to be pricy as hell. Chiaki scores a moral victory by eating all of Kana’s choicest dishes, but it does nothing to mitigate Chiaki’s string of losses to Kana. Even if Chiaki claims that this will be her season Mako-cakes is probably going to usurp it once again. Hell even in the preview he’s bleeding out femininity in his male clothes… Still this might be the year when Mako-cakes and Chiaki finally start BEING FRIENDLY, he still won’t ever get to go back to being Makoto though.
It was a good episode that had its real juicy moments in the middle especially when Mako-cakes was trying to out wit Chiaki. Maki-chan bullying Fujioka was good though I can only hope that in the future it gets better. Haruka is still not getting her fair share of the animation budget though at least for the beach segment she did look AMAZING.

I’m glad the epi. centered on mostly Fujioka. I seriously thought he would grab Haruka’s goodies. That whole ‘spooning’ thing had too many (indecent) meanings…in my mind anyways.

As for the rest? Chiaki’s staked her claim on Fujioka, given that she (somewhat ironically) twisted Kana against him to start with her creative reinterpration of the letter, and now Mako-chan’s aware of Chiaki as a woman (sorta) where he previously only reacted to Haruka…. but the last ep had him reacting to Yoshino and Chiaki along with Uchida, so maybe puberty has finally started kicking in after all.
I say a it was an o.k. episode some Hosaka would have made it a great episode but beggars can’t be choosers I guess. Either way what is that I see for next weeks episode, some Chiaki x mako-cakes? hmm I highly doubt it but who knows maybe lil mako-kun will go for younger women this time around.

If Chiaki had it all planned out from the start it seems that Kana has already done plenty to derail those plans, simple because Kana is BOSS and can only be counted on to act erratically. Too bad for Chiaki that Fujioka is still lusting after Kana and is giving Touma much more attention ad is being much more FRIENDLY with Touma than Chiaki.
If puberty is starting to strike for Mako-cakes he better do something about it before cross dressing is no longer sufficient…

Hosaka will be back and hopefully with better fantasies and new songs! Knowing Mako-cakes it seems that he’s only just now becoming more aware that his friends are starting to grow into maiden-hood. We shall see how he reacts and if his relationship with Touma and Uchida will change.

Anyone else notice in the second to last screen shot it looks like Mako-cakes is wearing a hair clip? I had assumed that was guy mako-cakes but perhaps its female mako-cakes so that would explain the closeness.
I never get the whole indirect kiss thing, having been over there no one cares or gives it a second thought. I mean isn’t that what Fujioka wants in the end, so why hesitate? Fortune favors the bold.
Brin: Mako-chan IS wearing a hair-clip, but one that’s green to match the jacket… and Chiaki’s getting awful friendly with Mako-chan. And he’s noticing Chiaki as a girl, to judge by both last week’s as well as this week’s episodes. As for Fujioka’s hesitation, I say it’s because he’s not really sure he WANTS Kana, but still lusts for her.
But we already have proof of his idiocy – look at how he sees Touma as a guy still… despite having had his hands on her, and her having enough ‘development’ to have been ‘more womanly than Chiaki’ in season 1.

Crusader: I doubt he’s that smart. You have to be mildly retarded to chase after Kana after all the shit she put him through – which makes Mako-chan the smartest of the men befuddled by the Minami sisters, since of all the guys (Hosaka, Fujioka) he’s gotten the closest to his goal, and actually spends time WITH that girl who is aware that he’s there. Even if he gets constantly manipulated by Kana and Chiaki in the process.
Gotta love how Chiaki manipulated him into working on Uchida, though… even if she thinks he’s a bit older than her. That and the blowing into his ear (figuratively, through her gentler side showing) did anumber on him. Mind you, I wouldn’t blame him for reacting so to either of those girls, at his age.
Also, why does Chiaki look a bit like Nunnaly when her hair’s mussed up or when she’s sleeping, at least when Asread draws her?

I have always said that Mako-cakes might be on to something by giving up his dignity to be with Haruka. I think that Mako-cakes has succeeded beyond all expectations, not longer does the threat of discovery hang as heavily but it seems that Uchida and Touma have accepted Mako-cakes as is and no longer question the point of him out girling Chiaki when Haruka is not around. I think Chiaki just likes to control people and Mako-cakes seemed to be enough of a idiot that would be useful in getting what she wanted from Uchida. Still Kana is BOSS and is the superior manipulator.
Considering how much of Haruka that Mako-cakes has seen I think that being manipulated by Kana and occasionally Chiaki is a small price to pay. Afterall he technically ruined Chiaki, Uchida, and Yoshino for marriage, but he still gets to hang around them. Perhaps puberty is only now starting to strike and if so Mako-cakes will soon find that his circle of female company puts him ahead of the curve.
Crusader: Uchida always accepted Mako-chan as he was, ditto Touma – the only one there who wouldn’t accept him without change was Kana, as Chiaki still seems to be determined to ignore how much Mako-chan looks like Makoto-the-idiot. Makoto tries hard to ignore the fact he’s probably got a closet full of dresses and skirts – although that makes me wonder how he hides that from his folks, or if they accept that they’re raising a crossdresser.

I think the novelty of Mako-cakes has worn off for Uchida, you have to admit that for some reason they get along much more easily when it is Mako-cakes…maybe they like it that way.
They must show us Mako-cakes abode at some point, who knows what deculture outfits he has amassed ever since he forfeited his wild manliness? I doubt Mako-cakes is ignoring how his wardrobe has undergone a significant change in fact I suspect he’s relishing in his love for skirts.
Didn’t we already confirm that Chiaki only recognizes idiot levels? I think at some point we need to have Touma and Uchida get in close just to see what happens. You still have to wonder though if puberty will change Uchida and Touma’s attitudes towards Mako-cakes.
Crusader: Mako-chan acts LESS like an idiot when he’s wearing a skirt than when he’s wearing his usual pants… which says something mildly disturbing about what Makoto thinks about guys in general, and how being manly means being stupid.
As for Chiaki, she recognizes idiot levels… and yet after everything Mako-chan’s been involved in, and given that ‘she’ is Kana’s underclassman and friend (and that despite her idiocy levels, Chiaki does like Uchida enough to hang around with her AND help her with homework), you’d think she’d shun Mako-chan for being as big an idiot as Makoto… yet doesn’t. Hell, Mako-chan and Makoto sound the same, look very much alike, and they’re never seen together in the same room. And Makoto even went to the school cultural festival as Mako-chan in the maid outfit (which Chiaki has seen before).
To judge by next week’s preview, and how she handled Mako-chan this time around, it appears that Chiaki sorta likes Mako-chan, even if it may be only because he’s so easy to bully and dominate.
In essence though I think Mako-cakes has stumbled upon the secret to BEING FRIENDLY with girls…
Still it is becoming more apparent as time goes on that Mako-cakes makes for a better girl. I still doubt Chiaki knows the truth of Mako-cakes, you have to wonder how much of a jealous rage she will get once Chiaki realizes that Mako-cakes has seen a lot more of Haruka than Hosaka, Takeru, and Fujioka combined. Chiaki wants someone to boss around, and Makoto AND Mako-chan have been easily bossed about – I suspect she might even be pleased with having a minion of her own. They’re getting rather friendly as is…

Oh Chiaki tries, but she is only successful when Kana is not around. Let’s not forget that Kana has already stolen all of Chiaki’s friends and was the one that broke them all.
Chiaki STILL bosses them around – it’s just that Kana then tries to derail any plans Chiaki has, just because she’s an asshole. Notice that her friends go along with any plans Chiaki has, no matter how stupid they sound. Kana then shanghais the children because she’s such a jerk that nobody else save Keiko or Fujioka (who are easily bullied) will have anything to do with her. She’s like a less successful, and dumber, Hayami-senpai.
Episode 7 just got on about an hour ago… and Mako-chan seems to be more aware of Chiaki as a girl than before. Three-legged race FTW. Chiaki still seems intent on ignoring anything though, and getting conned into things by Kana.
… and he changes from green to purple hairclips between skits. And Uchida and Kana are talking about how he’s getting along well with Haruka AND Chiaki…
… and Haruka walks in on Kana who walked in on Mako-chan when he was using the can.

I have a laptop, but it would have been to conspicuous if I lugged a 15.4″ laptop to the dinner when I was technically required to listen to the speeches… I still have to get use to typing on the touch screen I just can’t do long ass comments on the thing, too many spelling errors and recognition is a bit spotty in low light. The DS Lite just could not get a bead on the unsecured wi-fi. Besides laptops these days have shit battery life as well.
Crusader: You do realize laptops come in 13″ and smaller configurations now, right? And some of them have 5 hours of battery life?

Yeah I know, but I can’t pay that much for new toys that I don’t really need since the old dual core 15.4″ works just fine. I wish I had money to spare, but right now I have to get a super pack for Hime’s VF-25. Besides how can I hide a 13″ Laptop?
That’s easy – get a 10″ netbook or similar, and disguise it as a hardcover book. They’ve actually started to get cheap, now. And who needs a SUPER pack when you’ve got the Armored version?

Armor packs aren’t out yet and because I am a sucker for Macross I can’t say no to VF-25 parts…Also have some other things to purchase if I want to play Left 4 Dead on PC with my buddies.
Lastly this is my last quarter in school so it just doesn’t seem worth for a banquet that takes place once a year.
Eh, netbooks are useful at more than banquets, especially if you can get one with Bluetooth and tether it to your iPhone or use it at Starbucks. Handy for blogging, for example.
Well maybe once I find a job and get the down payment for a house in order. We’ll see how it goes in life after college. Right now though it will be of limited use and technology seems to advance quickly.
Whatever gets you going – I’d put it above a PS3 in usefulness at the moment… and for the record, most all of them will play h.264 quite well, especially in Linux flavors.
I have my brother’s PS3 so I won’t have a want for that anytime soon as it is tethered to my TV and he hardly uses it for anything else than COD4. I am sure portable laptops are useful, but I have to secure employment first that way when Black Friday rolls around I can afford all that I want for electronics and gizmos. I just hope they don’t come out with a new iPhone just yet, because that might just shoot to the top of the list…
Here’s hoping my tax return is a bit bigger.
