Gundam 00 S2 – 25 (End and Junk): The Luckiest Man on Earth

Long has Patrick dreamed of this day…

Fellow Earth Federation citizens! I appeal to you all. Celestial Being is exhausted! It is low on troops! Low on ships, weapons, and even ammunition! Why then should we surrender? Dear fellow citizens, our true enemy is no longer Celestial Being but our own weak leaders. Hiding behind some notion of “absolute democracy”, they are reduced to absolute indecision. Why should we the survivors of this horrible war, entrust them with the power to make decisions for us!?

How can we forget the arrogance of Saji, when she usurped power in Proud? He claimed that the people of Celestial Being are a “chosen people”. That we of the Earth Federation are hidebound by archaic ways of thinking, and incapable of realizing the new potential for an expanded human consciousness in outer space. That there is no need for the people of Celestial Being to obey an “Earth Federation” run by outmodeled human relics! Well, even though I am a member of our armed forces, I have to admit that if Saji was referring to our corrupt Earth Federation bureaucrats, he was correct.

But, fellow citizens, we must not be deceived by Saji simply because part of what he says is true. Proud may be the Side farthest away from Earth, but that is no reason to believe its leader’s prattle about communing with the universe!

Saji Crossroad must not be allowed to justify his vision of Innovation because of corruption in one part of our Federation. His words are the dogma of a man plotting a dynasty of Crossroad dictators on Proud. Even if we recognize the existence of the Proud dictatorship, that in no sense means we must also sink to our knees before it! The Earth Federation is a government, founded on the premise of sovereign individual rights. Mankind was able to advance into outer space as a result of the Federation government, which is itself a crystallization of all mankind’s accumulated knowledge and experience.

Now, Saji’s lover, Jihad-kun, says it is the weak and inept Earth Federation itself that must be destroyed! Well, let him go ahead and try. Strike at the heart of our weakness! But what right does he — who slaughtered four billion innocent people — have to strike such a righteous pose?

Jihad-kun tells us that mankind has violated the laws of nature by reproducing more than any other species. He tells us that mankind’s population growth must be managed, because mankind must learn to inhabit the universe in harmony with nature. He tells us that the death of four billion people was merely expiation for our past sins against nature.

Is Jihad-kun mad? No! Jihad-kun is a despot trying to exterminate the very source of life that has supported and nurtured him. We, of the Federation, shall never comprehend the monstrosity of his actions.

And now Jihad-kun threatens to crash Ptolemy II onto Earth unless we surrender to him. What basis does he have for his demand?! Is he in possession of some sort of absolute truth? No! He possesses nothing more than his own demented dogma. Is the entire Federation completely enfeebled, corrupt, and degenerate? Again, the answer is no. Many good, capable citizens have fought bravely against the threat from Zeon, and we are still strong and alive!! So, then, does CB actually possess military superiority over the Federation? Again, the answer is NO!

Fellow citizens, listen to what I say! Jihad-kun’s threats are a mere bluff. Unworthy as I am of my good fortune, Patrick was captured rather than killed by CB forces, and thus was afforded the opportunity to see Proud first-hand. I therefore can assure you that the people of CB are exhausted, and there is no way they can possibly strengthen their forces enough to carry out their threats. So I say to you, Jihad-kun, if you think you can send Ptolemy II crashing to Earth, well then, go ahead and try!

CB’s strength was expended in the Battle of Loum. There is no way they can create soldiers overnight, and Jihad-kun knows it. I therefore appeal to all the citizens of the Earth Federation, to each and every one of you. CB is exhausted! Now is not the time for us to kneel before CB. It is time for us to rise! Now, more than ever, is our chance to defeat CB! – Hillrod 00

I accept Ribbons as my personal savior.

Truth is God probably thinks like this, of all God’s children we are the worst.

Eat your heart out Kai.

Long story short Exia (because they were saving it for something important) downs RX-78 putting an end to an era and signaling the death of Gundam as I knew it. Nobody dies as Tieria cosplays as Lalah Sune scaring the shit out of Dark Amuro who had the most kick ass Guncannon ever built. Still as no innovadoes were harmed in the filming of Gundam 00 they all were resurrected just in time for Jihad-kun and friends to go off to fight aliens as Saji and Air-head Louise wax philosophical. Homer commits Hara-kiri like a true samurai while Bob sissied out to bang Billy once more. It seems that after all that trouble all Billy got was a lame picture as Lasses leered at him as Lasse was Sumeragi’s favorite vibrator. Lyle goes to weep over the graves of his family as Prince Ali laughs mightily from the heavens at the shit poem Lyle composed for Anew, who by the way didn’t die and simply ran off to I don’t give a shit anymore. Andrei doesn’t get his comeuppance, while Marie and Haptism go off on a backpacking trip in Europe. Kataron gets political power after launching a coup against Obama and installing Hilary Clinton in his place. Patrick proves just how invincible he is by coming back to marry Katie who finally put on her first star as a Brigadier General of the Earth Federation. Princess Poverty finally decides to force the fat Seelian kid to lose some weight as she starts a new regime to take all the credit from the Feddies who cleaned up her shitty little country. The big surprise was apparently a Gundam 00 movie for 2010 for massive edits and super long time skips, I just thought that this was shitty simply because that means 0081 is only on PS3.

Last Minute shipping…check.

Master Gundam is that you? Please use you Master Cloth…and a Choukyuu Haou Den’eidan with some Juuni Ouhouhai you know just for old time’s sake.

O RLY?

Impression/Final Thoughts:

So yeah it was pretty but in the end the initial premise was all but forgotten as things were dumbed down to the same moralistic platitudes we have all seen before. Since Sunrise is clearly anti-Obama they don’t believe in change and opted for some idiot drivel that is spoon fed to children and teenagers, just like they opted for Hilary.  The fundamental problem was that none of the good guys died and hence I found it difficult to sympathize with them since they were never in mortal danger for very long because of the Trans-Am hack which really did turn the shit factor up to eleven at times. In the end every one got it and it made the fights rather boring at times with cool poses and turning red. Even when they were talking about taking responsibility Haptism and Marie went backpacking which wasn’t as much in the way of atonement, Andrei gets a free pass for all that he’s done, Jihad-kun and friends are never tried, and Klaus gets a seat in congress for supporting Hilary, while the Azadistani are so stupid they welcome back Princess Poverty and her over fed children with open arms. Suffice to say logic and zero sum game went out the window for some bullshit about all we need to do is talk for peace. Understandably for a jaded Gundam vet who gets to visit shitty places around the globe this would not have been the Gundam series for my demographic, hell or even the older than 18 category. If you are young and have never seen the glory that was UC I can see how this would be more to your tastes, still I am old so I wouldn’t really know. It’s a step up from SEED and if that was you Gateway Gundam then more power to you, for the foreseeable the SEED generation is who Sunrise wishes to cater to for the time being.

Puny super soldier is no match for Hi Nu’s might…

Haptism was still rather newbish…

Lyle’s cooking MC’s like a pound of bacon.

What I did like though was the outside of the heroic whining and bitching that the minor characters were fairly decent, Sergei wasn’t perfect, but he did try to do things right. Patrick was the lovable inoffensive survivor who simply made all the SRSFKN business guys rage at how he was a nuisance so he scores points in my book for giving Lockon Fans a hard time by blinding Neil. Prince Ali was great until he was laid low by an ungodly amount of hax which Lyle seemed to get more than his fair share of, but again I suppose there are those who would willing sacrifice tight story telling for cool super speshul Trans-Am effects. Ginin was simply Mr. Zero Bullshit, and Darth Louise was a high point since she was the only one I could sympathize with. Sure revenge is bad (or at least that is what Sunrise would have us believe) but ultimately it made her more human as revenge is a very real human desire, I could not give any of a less of a damn whether it is right or wrong because fundamentally justice is a form of revenge. Katie earned her flag rank as she tried to impart some tactical thinking into the series even if it was all for nothing with Trans-Am. At least she did well in life, made general, got decent employment, and married a guy four years her junior who by all accounts will always be faithful. Oddly enough Katie was at her prettiest for this episode, and her wedding to Lucky Colasour was the ideal I am sure most of us would aspire to. It was a prefect wedding, no Andrei, no Billy, no Sumeragi, the groom was handsome, and the bride was beautiful. I suppose we have Patrick to thank for wanting to go traditional since he seems to have done all of the leg work had it been Katie it may well have been in uniform with a military chaplain, suffice to say Patrick some how talked Katie in to going strapless which I highly approve of.

Oh FUCK…

You’re not Lalah…

Hell YEAH Ribbons broke out with a DRILL WOOOOOOO…oh wait…

What Gundam 00 did have was a very strong middle, the beginning was slow but held a lot a promise, but he end was a near total betrayal once things were dumbed down, the Gagas were just icing. Honestly simply talking isn’t going to solve anything, and I am rather sick of democracy being touted as the solution when it certainly isn’t. Gundam 00 has a sort of neo-conservative theme to it, spreading of democracy through force, and having a core group that decides what is best through liberal application of military power to solve problems, as the majority is ignorant or apathetic. Talking was never a strong point when beams were flying everywhere, so again this is hardly anti-war, but being Gundam that is hardly surprising since none of the others were. This something I found rather detestable even if those who think that the message of Gundam 00 is generally good, given what neo-conservatism has brought about in my country but I suspect this is something that won’t be given a second thought. What Ribbons was gunning for was a sort of old school utopia along Plato’s Republic though by today’s standards Plato comes off as rather fascist.

Mit donnernden Motoren,
Geschwind wie der Blitz,
Dem Feinde entgegen,
Im Gundam geschützt
Voraus den Kameraden,
Im Kampf steh’n wir allein,

Steh’n wir allein,

So stoßen wir tief
In die feindlichen Reih’n.

So stoßen wir tief
In die feindlichen Reih’n.

Wenn vor uns ein feindlicher
Gundam erscheint,
Wird Vollgas gegeben
Und ran an den Feind!
Was gilt denn unser Leben
Für unsres Reiches Heer?

Ja Reiches Heer?

Für Deutschland zu sterben
Ist uns höchste Ehr.

Für Deutschland zu sterben
Ist uns höchste Ehr.

Mit Sperren und Minen
Hält der Gegner uns auf,
Wir lachen darüber
Und fahren nicht drauf.
Und droh’n vor uns Geschütze,
Versteckt im gelben Sand,

Im gelben Sand,

Wir suchen uns Wege,
Die keiner sonst fand.

Wir suchen uns Wege,
Die keiner sonst fand.

Und läßt uns im Stich
Einst das treulose Glück,
Und kehren wir nicht mehr
Zur Heimat zurück,
Trifft uns die Todeskugel,
Ruft uns das Schicksal ab,

Ja Schicksal ab,

Dann wird uns der Gundam
Ein ehernes Grab.

Dann wird uns der Gundam
Ein ehernes Grab. (Based on Panzerlied)

Ah well Gundam 00 had its moments even if the final lap was disappointing, though mostly because the initial premise was too ambitious and they just weren’t capable of meeting the challenge and passing with flying colors. While not a revival of the UC spirit it does do things better than SEED though Gundam 00 shares more in common with the latter as time goes on, Exia R2 was an announced ass pull but an ass pull nonetheless since it could have been sortied with a GN container but wasn’t and GN Drive Syncing was easy as USB jump drive use for the last ep. It’s a shame they promised much more than they were capable of, but one can hope that maybe the VOTOMS team or some of the IGLOO guys can be called upon in the future. If only Gundam 0081 were a series…at least I still have IGLOO.

Final standings have Prince Ali as King even if Team 00 Raiser pools their kills, not sure why they really needed to show that innovadoes were out there, but since death ain’t what it used to be I suppose that without a body I can’t confirm any kills this ep with any degree of certainty.

Final Standings (No Innovadoes were hurt during the filming of this series)

After Gundam 00 Marina became Octomom (link NSFW)

Klaus and Shirin passed many tax cuts and instituted Reganomics.

You may call her Hillrod 00.

Bring cut his hair and lived out his life in Azadistan, he did not survive land reform.

Hilling was horribly disfigured after the battle and retired to the deserts to Kurdistan selling books about the Life of Patrick.

Homer was exiled to Azadistan but chose to die instead, many would have done the same given the choice.

Ribbons hid out in Africa to avoid the shit hole that was to be Azadistan.

Andrei got a job in the Air National Guard…

Billy did not get Sumeragi to put out but he got a picture of them together…okay it was a photoshop.

Bushido Bob decided to stop cosplaying.

Lyle composed a shittly poem for Anew, but she ran away to be part of Hillrod’s Cabinet.

Lyle ran away fromn his creditiors who came to collect unpaid bills that went back 4 years…also the KPSA shat on the grave.

Haptism and Marie wandered Euroland. Haptism was later killed by Putin with a judo throw, and Marie was last seen selling herself at a Dutch Brothel.

Jupiter was later invaded by the forces of Jihad-kun.

WTF no Gundam 0081?!

General Katie can I be put on the guest list?

No.

The General was just telling some piss ant off, don’t worry.

Katie will always be the Taisa of Patrick’s Youth.

Patrick wants to get married in the morning…

I was walking down a one way street
Just a looking for someone to meet
One woman who was looking for a man
Now Im hoping that the feeling is right
And Im wondering if youll stay for the night
So Im coming (I dont wanna be lonely)
I wanna love you all over

Your Patrick awaits General.

I never doubted Patrick for one minute. I am proud of them both Patrick for marrying above him, and Katie for having better taste in men than Sumeragi, beating Sumeragi to the altar was a bonus.

Katie did not invite Andrei, Sumeragi, or Billy that way they can be single and ronrey forever… you can’t catch the bouqet if you aren’t there…

    On the one hand, I wish Patrick had stayed dead for once. On the other hand, he’s still the sanest character this show ever had, and could laugh at himself… and went for the General, so I can’t argue with him having ended up making the fanart real. As for me, I wish there’d been less Marina monologue. If we’re going for simple mecha-on-mecha combat entertainment, then I’d personally like to be able to focus on that a bit more.

    best part was seeing corlasaur survive (who could’ve doubted him) and hearing the l’arc en ciel song play through the ending. It’s been a while, but that was a damn good song.

    otherwise, i thought your critique was pretty spot on. somewhere between the mass produced trans-ams and bending super-powered death beams, the writers lost their way.

    for an ending, it lacked the power and finality that oddly enough the season 1 ending had. in the end, what did CB accomplish? no more innovators and no more a-laws? since the ptolemy’s still flying around, i assume war hasn’t been completely eliminated. and if CB acts, I guess Katie and Patrick will launch a counterattack… boy, that sounds like progress.

    oh well, it was a fun ride, but i’m glad it’s over. these last handful of eps were tiring to get through.

    I enjoyed the series more often than not, that’s something I can’t really deny, but I feel like this was too rushed of a conclusion.

    Oh, the movie? What movie? I can’t hear you…something must be…oh sh-

    Lol….you took this ending a whole lot better then I thought you would. You know we’ve had our differences in the past, but I think we can fully agree from a critical perspective that Gundam 00′s message is fairly naive and cannot be applied to the real world at all because warfare, politics and society in general is far more complex then that. Gundam 00′s themes and ideas only work for Gundam 00 and Gundam 00 alone for the most part. Though if we’re talking model U.N’s then maybe they are on to something. :P

    It was a fun ride though and I honestly still can’t find myself any real reason to condemn the show too much if viewed from the laid back and relaxed perspective that I prefer to watch my anime from these days (to do that required a lot of mental training though). I can live with and even embrace Gundam 00 for what it is even as I know that it certainly could have been a whole lot more. Truthfully though I can’t think of any anime that has really quenched my thirst for solid politics and realistic perspectives on war since Legend of The Galactic Heroes and I’ve just stopped bothering to delude myself that it’s ever going to happen again to the level that I would desire.

    Gundam 00 S2 was an exercise in total mediocrity without falling into utter garbage like GSD while still being obviously pulled in different directions by the marketing/merchandising arms of the company.

    That being said, the last episode was full of totally awesome mechaporn and I can’t fault it for, well, any of it. Reborn Cannon owns, it’s like fighting a Zock. WHICH WAY IS HE LOOKING?

    And of course, they finished it with the best looking Gundam in 00, the Exia. Gotta love that, at least.

    But yes I would hope that GN drives are pretty much plug and play considering you know, it’s 300 years into the future and they were meant to be swapped into different suits as needed (see: Fereshte).

    Props on catching the Master Gundam reference since not many people caught it surprisingly enough. Although, there were no Darkness Fingers or Sekiha Tenkyoukens as convoluted Deus-Ex Machina as I expected. Jihad Kun forgot that 00 can invoke the Moonlight Butterfly while copying its destructive power with a slight adjustment or two from last episode’s inverted version. If Ribbons’ Gundam could pull off a Turn-X seperation ability that would have made it pretty awesome with death to the pitiful Meisters.

    Personally, the ending dissatisfies me and it is irksome knowing that Marina is still alive. I am probably the only person that dislikes the whole movie idea since it seems like nothing more then some shameless advertisement. At least, the movie is not the 30th Anniversary Project since the game will probably end up better.

    Still, I do wish that some of the many loose ends were actually taken care of and that the writers had done a better job at what they were doing. Especially with 300 or so people in the entire staff for the project. This series was definitely a chore for me to watch and I am glad it is over for now at the very least.

    0 Gundam vs Exia has to be one of the most epic moments in mecha this year.

    Too bad we have to wait another year for them to tie up everything with a movie hopefully with no Jupiter aliens.

    I really wonder, is Legend of Galactic Heroes like Tytania in any way? If so, I can’t see how the hell people consider it good. Tytania made Gundam look so damn good, it’s like comparing tic tac toe to real warfare. The only thing Tytania completely destroyed 00 at was consistency, because without a shadow of a doubt, Tytania never made it past suck balls this show is ghetto frontier trolling.

    I don’t think the message is wrong. Because the message of 00 should never be the case. It’s how that message is portrayed, which for sure, sucked balls. But I’m a pessimistic person and the moment I saw GaGas I knew there was no way in hell this was going to pull any reaction from me other than…….no no it didn’t.

    The Hi Nu is cool in many ways, but it kind of fails because it’s very indistinguishable. It’s one of the first times in 00 that I can literally say they fucked up on the colors. Many times in the fight I was completely confused on what shape the Hi-Nu was at that particular point, because it’s red was done so fail. Other than that though, it was damn awesome. Fights around it were quite good despite Ribbons not killing ANYONE. The last boss had a kill count of 1 man, and that was a damn sticky kill steal. Guess now they realized that the semi-downer ending of Geass was actually BETTER because people actually DIED and not because they LIVED. If they haven’t, they prove to the world that their industry is ripe for the taking, just like how Im Dal is invading Shoujo land with UxU >.>

    I think Crusader hit the mark though with that small sentence. 00 was an amazing concept, that was far too grand for the likes of Sunrise and it’s creator Mizushima. But honestly, 99% of that statement comes only from the mobile suit designs and the art. Without the art, none of this would stick.

    Of course, by concept, I rather mean the meta-verse of AD, not whatever the fuck that idiot was trying to get across about communication and understanding each other. Seriously, I can’t understand people who create these types of shows. They can’t make a GAR enough story to appease fight junkies, yet they can’t make it appeal to the female audience either (as shown by the extremely fake attitudes and personalities of 00, which are even worse than the already damn fake but okay in an over the top world of Geass/SeeD) making me wonder who the HELL are they trying to appeal to? Younger generations don’t give a SHIT about this TALKING crap, or did SoftBank bribe these guys to use a theme that promotes using cell phones? They gonna make some Innovator Designs too? I didn’t even recall seeing another company selling phones.

    My take on it, the writer wanted to give HIS OWN message because he had this small ego and unintentionally wanted to push around as if he mattered. Of course, his real intention was just to enlighten people on his almighty wisdom (10 bucks says he’s a hippie), but doesn’t realize how real business works. If he did, he wouldn’t have had to add the Anew/Lyle arc, because he would have already foreseen it and taken care of it.

    But I think the Finding Wald-err I mean Innovadoes in the last part was nice. It made up for a lack of Evil Haro who is probably still floating in space being evil over Nena’s messy splurge, and Takoluka which…no wait Takoluka appeared in AVI.

    Series was overall enjoyable. I just think most of us (including me) had way too high hopes for it. And by most of us I mean people who aren’t amused by pixie dust that reminds them of the time they spilled Kool-Aid over their cocaine.

    @D=: Well I would tell you what LOGH is about, but I feel it would be a waste of time since you seem like the type who is far too jaded and generally angry to really derive much enjoyment from anime or to really want to give it a chance. That and it’s a 160+ episode commitment and I’m not about to try and convince you either since that’s not my place. I gave up on trying to convince people who are not interested in certain things a long time ago.

    Truthfully I don’t get your perspective though, even if I understand the basis behind it. I could rant and rave all day just the same and like I said I’m not naive enough to try and derive anything applicable to real life from anime, but I’d rather save my energy and try to take what I can from it. I’m not one of those positive thinking types if that’s what you are thinking, but I mean how else am I supposed to get any enjoyment out of the medium or at least be open to the prospect of doing so?

    Don’t take this personally, but I hope I never get to where you are in terms of jadedness, it doesn’t seem fun or worth it at all and to me it seems more like letting the general shittiness of life win. Maybe that’s how you prefer to cope though…..

    By the way Kool-Aid and Cocaine is a really strange combination. Like I mean REALLY strange….as in WTF?! Well time to hit the Whiskey then and watch the finale to Battlestar Galactica, which you can tell me why it sucks if you think it’s worth the effort to do so.

    Ribbons vs Setsuna match was epic.

    Few things that piqued my curiosity/freaked me out:

    1. Anew in the ESF Security Council. Ribbons-like person in Africa.

    2. Andrei in the regs. If A-LAWs was disbanded, I wonder if ESF would prosecute him for his part with them? That’s my part…

    3. Homer choosing the easy way out by committing seppuku. Guess he decided to off himself before ESF police can arrest him.

    4. Graham still alive. Wonder what he’s gonna do in the movie and second, is he a freelancer?

    5. Colasour marrying Kati. I wonder if it’s good if he stayed dead. At least Trevor’s (VA in English) going to have a happy ending. Sort of.

    I liked the first season quite a bit but I was very disappointed with second season when it seemed to me like nothing was really happening. It was the same thing almost every week except that this time there were innovators around, emo Saji and Louise, A-Laws, and someone (usually Mr. Bushido) getting a new overpowered unit every 6 eps. Although the action was good, it did seem like they wasted a lot of time on unnecessary things, time that could’ve been used to develop the characters and the story bit more.

    So in the end, Allelujah never got rid of his evil side of his which means he’ll go crazy again when he gets bored of that normal life he’s planning on leading. I’m sure that him and Maria joined some cult or better yet he created his own and they are on their way to the Promised Land where people that dropped out of CB and characters that we-couldn’t-give-a-proper-ending go. I still cannot believe the unnecessary amount of screen time that Sunrise gave to Marina Ismail. One of the useless female characters in anime history imo. Somehow, in the end they just decided to put her in charge again so she can screw up her country once more? Liu Mei, Wang and her typical reason to change the world was another disappointment. It’s still a mystery why they kept her and Nena around for so long, just to give them unmemorable deaths.

    There was so much emphasis on the superiority of the Innovators and Ribbon but in the end they were your typical unoriginal villains with almost no personality to the very end and guess what? They also had forgettable deaths. All of this,a bunch of unexplained things that just happened in the show and others things that just didn’t make any sense at all are what makes me want to rate S1 higher than S2. To finish this, were those innovator cameos really necessary? They served no real purpose aside from lessening the impact of whatever serious ending this was supposed to be. So are CB going to be fighting against the Anti-spiral or not? I’m truly intrigued.

    @Kaioshin Sama

    First up, BSG was good. The complaints about it are minor things that I don’t wish to go into detail, as it doesn’t really detract from the overall grade of the show.

    Second, I’m quite happy you think I’m overly jaded and “angry in general”. It’s quite a compliment to my posting style despite it being completely detached to my real self.

    Third, the basis of my perspective is that just like the ten commandments, when you want to spread the word, you don’t fucking tell people what you CAN do, you tell them what you CAN’T DO. If Moses or whoever had to chisel stone tablets on shit his people COULD do, the man could split the red sea with his bare HANDS by the time he got done if he was still alive. I doubt even Master Asia could do it.

    I think it’s more like, either you, just like a large number of people don’t read my entire post, or you just can’t seem to differentiate when I’m being positive and when I’m saying this shit sucks get off the stage ugly. Which is also quite a large number of people. Granted I’m not exactly satisfied with how I post myself, but it’s not like I want to waste even more time posting constructive criticism.

    I simply look at it opposite of you in a sense. I think it’s a waste of time to POST about things that are satisfactory. I’m sure none of you were WOWED HOLY SHIT by the end here, and I can say with confidence episode 25 had segments that completely dwarfed the last couple of episodes. So if all I’m reading from all you people are “Oh it was pretty good” “Eh it’s not bad” “it’s a fun ride”, I get the vibe that it’s the same fucking level of you guys going into work on Monday and answering “How was your weekend?”. If I didn’t have a blast or gets downs, I’m not gonna answer with something lame like “Oh it was okay”. It’s a NO SHIT.

    I mean, take Asuki for example; you strip away all the useless comments that pretty much describe how a person “feels” within 5 adjectives or less and you’d only be left with the nerdy posts of the shounen boards like Naruto/Bleach/Gundam where kids are probably STILL talking about HOW THE BATTLE OF ORB WAS SOOO COMPLICATED and REALISTIC that even Sun Tzu himself would shit his pants over the intricate details. Better pause the chinese subtitles guys, Sun Tzu doesn’t understand the BRILLIANCE of how cannon fodder squad F contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to the victory of Orb despite having less than 2 frames of action in the episode.

    Now, that isn’t to say I think it’s wrong to be positive. I just think it’s better to waste your efforts on something extraordinary, not ordinary. Go read the last 00 article if you want to see me praising something, though it had nothing to do with 00 and more to do with Dorian talking to me about ROT lol.

    My standards aren’t that high. I read all of Skip Beat in one day. All 137 chapters so far. That’s not to say Skip Beat sucks, because it’s quite the opposite. But if you think about it with your own logic presuming my jadedness, how would I get away with 137 chapters within 5 hours without complaining about the ghetto art? Can I possibly like the triangle faces and abnormally pointed chins? Maybe I have a loyalty to an art style that’s nearly as extinct as the Wooly Mammoth. Sorry, but that’s not the case. I point things out when it clearly affects the overall quality of a product, not something that you can nit pick about.

    The fact that I believe that shit like Lyle’s nerf pistol breaking Arche’s arm was stupid as fuck can be interpreted as me nitpicking. I interpret it as me having much higher standards for 00. One doesn’t have standards for things one isn’t interested in to begin with. That goes to show I like 00 just as much, if not more than the majority of the posters. I am simply dissatisfied at how it failed in S2. Hence why in terms of consistency, Tytania rapes 00. It simply stuck to being a wanna-be sci-fi that talked about war, and it never strayed. It never even got my hopes up once, so how can it disappoint me?

    Lastly, Kool-Aid and Cocaine is just a 5 second creation. You’re suppose to use your imagination and color the red onto the powder, thereby making GN-Particles that induce “innovation”. But ummm, it’s okay if you didn’t get it…..

    First season was regular, but I liked the political seting. Second season was a colection of weird things: GN dust, pink Gundams, naked pilots, the couple with double personality, useless princess, 6 orphans, cosplayer. On the good side: music, image, fights and Titeria. To be honest I only can recomend the first season.

    A sub par Gundam Wing yay!

    We had to wait too many episodes to see a well choreographed fight sequence….

    But then again as stated the target audience was probably slightly older than the saturday morning cartoon SEED…

    I’m sorry but I refuse to beleive that the older series I only enjoyed because I was younger… But then again this again was better than seed, and like stated before its a good entrance into the gundam world… AND AT LEAST THERE WAS NONE OF THIS:(WARNING THE CONTENTS ARE DISTURBING)http://mahq.net/mecha/gundam/g/gf13-066no.htm , yea if I had a blog I would have just posted that as my review for every 00 episode just to remind people at least it didnt come to that, and they should be happy our favorite old school rapper sold out to shiny red go fast bling and more dust than the 60s an 70s, and the mexican border combined..

    So lastly with that said, DO YOU really want 0081… at the state of gundam do you want the current staffs ruining something great…?

    Well, Gundam 00 was good while it last and it certainly was better than GSD. I also liked the 0 Gundam vs. Exia R2 though it would have been better without the song and Marina’s epilogue talk. The end was nice but I feel like it was incomplete.

    Also, I loled when I saw Patrick.

    BTW, did you notice the Anew look alike in your “Hillrod 00″ caption?

    @Tenryu:
    Kati didn’t shouted like Soma when Sergei had died. In 24ep. Kati was calm. When Patrick’s GN-XIII explodes we can see that something is flying away from the explosion and it has a different color tail than explosion
    interesting
    We didn’t see blood, rape face, flashback.
    He is a comic relief, Immortal(because this is he speciality). Kati was still alive.

    About episode:
    fight was beautiful, but emotionally I haven’t felt anything;
    I still don’t like CB(They should guard the world like all normal people – there are organizations for that military, politicians, police and so on(that would be perfect punishment for them).They again play their silly games.)
    The best part is wedding of Patrick and Kati. The Happy Colasour and his Taisa.
    I liked the ending of Andrei, Alleliujah and Marie.

    And I think the movie is going to be the backstory of CB and the space travel to Jupiter.

    Ominae: Apparently the information about WHY there are Innoveda terminals was revealed in the Gundamm 00P/00F sidestories. To make a long story short, VEDA was seeding the Earth with them before season 1 even began, in an attempt to observe the Earthnoid, I mean, the people of Earth. There are literally thousands of them running around, but I assume now that they’re all under Tiera’s control.

    D=: Legend of Galactic Heroes is LIGHT YEARS, I dare say, better than Tytania. It’s something a sci-fi/space opera anime fan should watch at least once in their lifetimes, but fair warning, as it runs at it own pace. Do NOT expect fast pacing for it, as the political theory often takes center stage to the battles (not that those are sidelined, as they’re crucial as well), plus it’s the LONGEST OVA ever produced… Well, Kaioh isn’t exaggerating really.

    I also marathoned 08th MS team in preparation for this episode….talk about polar differences. That show is hands down probably one of the best Sci fi anime series i’ve ever seen, up their with Jin-Roh/Bebop/Macross Plus.

    Patrick and Kati’s wedding was the best! Like many, I never believed that Patrick is capable of dying. The Hallelujah fight was awesome as Mr. Pscyho pwned Healing like nothing, and Lyle didn’t too badly either beating Revive with half a Gundam. The Setsuna vs. Ribbons fight was anti-climactic though since they just had to bring out the antiques to finish the fight. Should have just stuck to letting the two twin-drive blow each other up.

    A standard happy Gundam ending overall, with everyone miraculously resolving their differences lol. Graham did absolutely nothing and ends up with Billy. Marina did less than nothing and got her country back!? Talk about being the ultimate free-loader! And finally Tieria is now the greatest threat to humanity with his ability to project his naked self to people (especially if CB goes around spreading GN particles).

    Looking forward to the Gundam vs. Aliens movie LOL.

    Wow they finally managed to have a damn good mech fight. This was probably the only time I had a really big smile on my face for half an episode. I dare say that Ribbons (despite a disappointing kill count and fruity apparel) has earned a spot at the table beside the UC aces. Aside from the battle and Hallelujah’s brief but impressive showing, the only other high point was Patrick and Kati’s wedding.

    Sadly, the rest of the episode was filled with the standard bullshit lines from Marina and CB so I stopped paying attention to the subs while the wannabe pop princess was doing her bullshit monologue.

    Like you said crusader the middle is where this show was at its best. The beginning of the show at least had great mecha battles which continued through the middle of the show. The worst part about the ending of this series is that for all there reliance on tech many of the battles started sucking like they had run out of budget. Oh well I nominate Marina Ismail for the most useless female in the history of anime. She is the definition of MOE! Hopefully 0081 is actually good because I doubt the movie will be.

    So we say farewell until the movie is released in 2010. I say good-bye to naked Celestial Beings. Good-bye to awesome drug-addict Louise trying to kill Saji. Good-bye to that look-alike Anew, wearing glasses who was in that Federation meeting with the ex-Kathalon members. (I swear I saw her) Good-bye to Bushido, Soma, Billy, and everyone else who made this ride memorable especially Marina, who is no longer the Princess of Poverty, but the Princess of Pedo.

    @Haesslich
    Considering how many good people had died Patrick had to be the one to survive to give us hope that there will be sane people in the future. Besides Katie deserved a happy ending considering how many idiots were spared, there has to be some good things happening to good people once in a while…

    I would have preferred no Marina at all, certainly they would have succeeded had they settled on one premise and stuck with it.

    @RP
    The wedding of Katie and Patrick was definitely a high point, I only wish they never lost their way to begin with.

    War…war never changes.

    @XXX
    Well it’s over for better or for worse.

    @Kaioshin
    Well it’s over and for better or worse they did not meet their initial goal, may be in a few years they might deliver. In the mean time this lack of 0081 announcement is one betrayal I will not soon forget, I’d rather have that than a compilation movie. Some special announcement that turned out to be…we all knew it was going to happen as it always does. I was holding out for a real surprise.

    @Eej
    Well they did make a big deal about syncing the twin drives so I thought it might have been an issue of variances in manufacture, eh whatever. Mediocre is still settling for less, but you’re right it wasn’t complete garbage and it had it’s moments. I only wish Hi Nu Gundam 00 was calling out attacks and using a beam cloth, and and riding a horse.

    @Flash Sword Irene
    It would have definitely been epic if they pulled out all the stops when it came to homages, but maybe some other time. I would have highly approved of some darkness fingers…

    @Eldar
    I don’t know I was crying a bit inside when I saw the RX-78 get taken down like that…

    @Kiri
    Desu Yellow wears only yellow, she was not invited Katie made sure of it…

    @D=
    Hi Nu Gundam 00 was pretty cool all it needed was a horse and beam cloth…trust me comrade you cried tears of joy.

    LOGH is LOOOOONG 110 eps for the main thing discounting the other stuff, but if you want to see an anime unlike any other it certainly fits the bill, just bear in mind it is slow and not every ep is heart pounding action.

    @Ominae
    Nothing can kill the Immortal Colasour!

    @keikakudoori
    Indeed Marina was ultimately useless.

    @Tenryu
    NOTHING CAN KILL THE IMMORTAL COLASOUR! Why wish anything bad to Patrick he never hurt anyone who didn’t deserve it…besides it mitigates Marina surviving.

    @mareo
    Most of the middle was good, only towards the end did things unravel, probably once the nakkidness started.

    @pgod
    I’d rather have Nether Gundam than all the nakkidness of Gundam 00, at least it’s mecha. Of course I want 0081 the OVA teams are where the competent people work, besides I am sure that in the hands of the Pailsen Files or IGLOO team 0081 will be great, as long as it stays as an OVA…

    @infinite07
    Yeah, I mentioned it in the post, just felt like giving Hilrod 00 the spotlight.

    @lilu
    God bless Patrick and Katie and all the children they will have.

    @JDMFLCL
    8th MS Team was from an age no seemingly lost at least we will always have Norris vs 8th Team.

    Indeed so sad to see that Bob no longer wishes to cosplay.

    @Ascaloth
    Wikiquote and and subscription to Armchair General, also reading loads of Military history books helps. I am sure you will find some favorite speeches of your own. For starters I recommend Patton’s Speech to the Third Army.

    @TJ
    It was the wedding of the year.

    @Mechabao
    If only Ribbons had show his stuff earlier…still it was a great wedding planned by Patrick, the dress, the bride, the venue, and the guest list. ;)

    @Incognito
    Indeed the middle was the juiciest part. Get cracking on LOGH though you won’t soon regret it.

    @Triggerhappypilot
    Perhaps, or it could be GN dust Memories…

    @sinjin
    I find little fault with that.

    @Aeons

    @ghostlightning
    Agreed Patrick and Katie getting married was epic, I hope yours was up to par with that of the Colasours.

    i loved the final battle, reminded me of the zeong vs RX-78 battle in the original cept rather then fight hand to hand they downgraded to their original suits once they trashed the ones they had, and it was extra gratifying to see Hal tear hilling a new asshole, in a half broken gundam without trans-am.

    overall i liked the series and had fun watching it, not great but still good, even if it did stumble in the second season (curse you sequelitis) it was better than seed and wing thats for sure.

    good points: the mobile suit designs, patrick, how the fights in season 1 were more skirmishes than protracted battles, and when they were protracted the gundams got owned due to force of numbers, the use of solid blades as close combat weapons over beam sabres, seeing the RX-78 (sorry..0 gundam) get skewered by exia, almost complete absence of stock footage, and Hal just…Hal.

    bad points: antagonists were on a whole rather bland (especially ribbons and ali), absolutely no explaination given into ‘the incident’ regarding graham, not enough Flags, the trinites were just a cock tease, the battles in season 2, the give peace a chance rhetoric from wing, not enough Hal in season 2, lecharous lyle, dumbed down plot in season 2, overuse of trans am (maybe if it had risks such as liqufying organs due to the intense G’s or risk of going crazy it would’ve been bearable but i digress) marina, and andrei.

    overall, in my opinion it sits below zeta but above wing and seed.

    my one hope is that the next series will be either unicorn or crossbone, oh and that ADV films does any dubbing of the aforementioned series’.

    I’ve seen UC and tend to think it’s overrated, but I won’t get into that. Zeta is my show. I would say SEED and 00 are about equal, depends on what you are looking for. 00 for more mecha battles SEED for more soap opera drama. Overall Gundam has never been great. 00 continues that legacy.

    The only thing I’m going to remember from the series is the arguments I had with Crusader about it. Otherwise this was a crap season in comparison to the first, as Crusader mentioned the middle was the best things near the end collapsed and dragged the whole show down with it. I wish they had focused more on the politics and realism instead of Gundam upgrades that made no sense and rushed character relations. Oh and BSG had a pretty good finale but still think Starbuck ending was a bit out of a copout. FMA here I come baby!

    In the end, i can say i enjoyed it better than Wing and G (i liked GSD so sue me, just ’cause of athrun).

    Oh, and IMHO i think MSG (’79) isn’t overrated… it’s just old… problem was that its animation wasn’t as timeless as Macross. Its story, however, now that is TIMELESS.

    oh one thing i forgot to add, probably one of the gratign things about trans-am, aside from it being overused is that as far as super modes go, it was very dull compared to some of the others.

    for example(s)
    wing zero’s zero system (floods the pilots brain with combat info and etc)
    zeta’s bio sensor (which allowed it to temporarily power up using the souls/minds of the departed)
    and the unicorns NT-D mode (made the gundam controllable by thought alone, also allowed it to take over newtype weaponry (eg turn a MS’s bits/funnels against them) and its shield turned into an I-field generator)

    by comparison all trans am did was make the affected suits go really really fast, gundams on red bull more or less.
