Quick Impressions- Hayate no Gotoku

One of the shows this season I’m guaranteed to be watching, I have been looking forward to more HnG for a long while. In addition to being spit-milk-out-your-nose hilarious, HnG is home to one of my top waifu, Hinagiku. The first episode did not dissappoint, ladies and gentlemen, there’s plenty of Hina to go around.

They did a pretty good job selecting an appropriate plotline to reintroduce all the characters, as almost everyone showed up in the manga chapters dedicated to the marathon. I didn’t really need to have all the characters introduced, but not everyone watching has read all the English-released manga volumes multiple times…

Mmmmm, Sakuya, my second waifu on this show. Kana’s accent turns me on.

As someone who pays close attention to these things, the change in studio is noticeable, but not a real big deal. The coloration is a bit brighter now, but the designs are almost exactly the same. I have no problems so far with JC Staff’s adaptation.

No poor people allowed! And I guess JC Staff is going to break with the tradition of always showing Ayumu eating something~ At least I didn’t notice anything.

Not quite Sayoko supameido level, but I approve

That’s the waifu I know and love, rawr

M-m-moe….

Overall a great start to the second season of one of my favorite comedies. Once again, I am ridiculously happy that we get more animated HnG. They have plenty of great manga material to work from, especially all of the delicious Hina material in volumes 9&10. I doubt I’ll blog this regularly, just because it’s rather difficult to have a lot to say about each week for this type of show, especially if it goes another 52 episodes. However, I may drop a post here and there declaring my love for Hina, Sakuya, or something similar.

For those of you who weren’t aware, HnG is being simulcast fully subbed on Crunchyroll a few hours after it airs in Japan. You can watch it in decent quality with an ad at the start for free, if you want to get the top notch 720p HD stream you have to get a membership. It’s like 20 bucks for 3 months, and you get a few other shows like Skip Beat, Naruto, and Shangri-la. Not to advertise too much for them, but if you can swing the cash it’s something good to support.

it’s there, it’s finally there – loved it!!!

thought, i had the feeling some realtionships had a slight change.
wasn’t hayate always hesitant towards hinagiku and vice versa?
a good example would be the ova, that was recently released.
well, it’s only the first episode but they look more like good friends in this episode rather, than a possible couple.

after 20 episodes it all became the same mediocre pile to me. No story progression, no character development, some nice jokes but not great. Not enough to keep viewing 52 episodes.

I agree with you about Crunchyroll. After that whole licensing issue with Crunchyroll, it is doing a pretty good job in airing the most recent anime as well as dramas and music.

The ending song was really adorable. Hinagiku really shined in that song and of course, she really shined during the episode. Jam packed with one silly situation after another, it is one of the series I’m definitely following. I needed more traps after Maria+Holic ended.

I dislike Crunchyroll and their licensing. It didn’t affect me before…but now that CR has taken HnG in, I’m slowly realizing how much I hate them. But I am not here to say i hate CR, but rather my adoration for HnG. Anyways, I’m surprised that JC staff actually used plot material(compared to Synergy SP’s style of using fillers and given the fact of how they changed Shakugan no Shana S2, Zero no Tsukaima S2 & S3 and Tsukihime). The animation, in my opinion has changed dramatically, with similarity to the drawing style used in Zero no Tsukaima and sharper colors. Overall, I am hoping forward to HnG S2 and really want the part where Hina started realizing she fell for Hayate.

You forgot to mention that the entire ED is Hinagiku singing and images of dere-dere Hinagiku.
