Poor Stroheim was quite a character (and quite heavily armed…), and certainly he seems to have once counted the most lovingly designed mecha with in Mazinger Z with their elegant lines. Even if this show is HOT BLOODED as the series of old, I like how even the good guys aren’t all “good.” This is pretty much a pissing contest between the biggest brains of the age, and not some damned simplified idealistic crusade. So it has been revealed that Tsubasa has killed both men who dared to love her. We still don’t know why she killed Kenzo, or let alone marry him and give him babies, but poor Stroheim was really carrying the torch for even after she came back with Kenzo’s kids he still would have taken her back. Sadly, he knew nothing of her treachery. I suppose there was a good reason for it all, though if Tsubasa was willing to let Shiro die and kill Stroheim to further her ambition I cannot help but wonder what her agenda is. At least with Dr. Hell it’s pretty straight forward. Poor Lorelei did fulfill her father’s wish but sadly Mazinger Z was unbeatable even if Kouji is still lacking as a pilot. I did like how Lorelei still told Shiro to fuck himself as Stroheim had every right to demand justice form the Kabuto family after they pretty much screwed him over.
As Kenzo is batting for Dr. Hell for sure I am interested to see this Kabuto curse in all its glory. Now that we have a mother that was willing to kill her husband and her own children this is not your typical lame modern mecha fare, oh no… Maybe Tsubasa will do even more shocking things than Medea when she was wronged by Jason. Still for a dead guy Stroheim was pretty bad ass. Ankokuiji is still carrying the torch for his beloved Gamia, even if he still lacks firepower his LOYALTY more than makes up for it. Considering the amount of treachery that probably went on, it seems that loyalty is a rare trait. I guess Mazinger Z will continue to dominate the playing field now that Danube was bested, if only Aphrodai A was half as useful, ditto for the Mazinger Army.

Once again it seems that Shiro has failed with Mazinger Z once again. Maybe he should just kick that chump and start recruiting for a new pilot. Here re my thoughts:

Awesome arc. This is real good stuff, kind of like the old Astroboy ep where Atom falls in love with this cute girl robot who turns out to be a bomb (she blows up); only with more awesome due to the sheer destructive power and the badassery of the characters involved.

Indeed it was a good arc, though I look forward to seeing Gamia-chan alive and well soon. It was meant to be, after all Lorelei was simply too good for Shiro, that no good do nothing character.
T’was a most tragic tale pertaining to the fate of Stroheim. As for Shiro he did not cry True Tears at all…
Medea is a pussycat compared to Tsubasa. She’s a Circe, a Harpy and a Gorgon all rolled up into one. Oh, throw Hera in there too.
I believe at this point we can safely say that Tsubasa’s a shoe in for most bad-ass female in animé for this year.
