Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Episode 1- Loli Nopan

yokumain1

This week is the first “real” episode of Yoku Wakaru, with some strange time travel shenanigans and the like. Although, the most amusing part is probably the early gratuitous bare loli ass shot that came out of nowhere. Thankfully it wasn’t censored to death like Princess Lover.

I dig the shift from the comedic antics of episode 00 to the battlan animu we have in episode 1. The battle animation was pretty decent as well, displaying a lot of motion and without heavy use of speedlines or other shortcuts. It’s no Kara no Kyoukai, but I’ll take it.

I guess that is actually a really neat trick, this ability of hers to convert code into washbins. It may not do anything harmful for the most part, but look at Touma from To Aru Majutsu no Index. He was pretty badass with just cancelling stuff, albeit possessing a mean right hook and an arrogant streak that Koyomi does not appear to possess herself.

This brings back memories of programming class.

yoku1-04

This kid gets a hot loli’s panties thrown at his face, and seemingly gets to keep them, and what does he do? Cry! Wow man, you may only be in elementary school, but seriously you just set back your ascension to manhood a few years with that. Learn to embrace the pantsu, grasshopper.

yoku1-05

Time travel in the first episode? My head hurts. If I hadn’t seen episode 00 I would have been completely confused as to what is going on in all of this. Although, seeing that episode doesn’t really explain everything, it was a bit jarring seeing Koyomi pop up.

yoku1-06
We here at THAT do not condone loli abuse.

yoku1-07

Oh yeah, that is one hot Santa. I’ve always dug a sexy Santa costume on a woman. Well anyways, I enjoyed the episode, enough to likely blog another one at least. While I still don’t know what direction this show is heading in, whether it be comedy, action suspense, or both, I am at least comforted by the fact that so far they have done both comedy and action decently. The characters (especially Yumiko and Misa) look promising, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. It also helps that this is being simulcast on Crunchyroll so it takes no effort to watch and I get it quicklike.

Seems like another wacky series in the way of Kannagi that will just be crazy antics for 13 episodes and not go anywhere. Dropped after episode 1. At least with series like Clannad, there’s some kind of storyline buildup across 51 episodes and a movie.

You sure are judging the series quickly. If you actually watched it, then you will see that the first episode has a plot that isn’t finished yet. Also, comparing Clannad to this series is not a good choice either.

I’m willing to bet you the story will not go far beyond slapstick humor. The “story” will kick-in about 2 episodes from the ending and be resolved without much a fuzz or payoff.

Kannagi, though it did go nowhere, was at list mildly interesting. This series is such a bore ; slapstick humour ? Hardly even, unless you consider cliché tsundere chara and hitting anything in sight “humour”. At least, though it gets every single cliché in the book, Princess Lover was entertaining (I’ve played the eroge, I found it quite good too).

I love how they tried to do an awwwwsome and original chara design by taking Tessa from FMP, and adding a violet tint to her hair. It’s such an amazing idea ! I mean, white hair you see everywhere, violet hair you see even there – but VIOLET AND WHITE ? It’s like bread and butter together, the new culinary dawn of the XXIth century. At least.

Yeah, Princess Lover is very cliche. Well this one has some interesting thing going for it such as the codes and such. Eitherway, I’m enjoying it so far as well as Princess Lover. Umi Monogatari is also awesome since it somehow reminds me of Aria a lot.

Beside, there’s not much comedy in this episode and it’s more plot and action. It seems as if everyone still have episode 00 still in their head so that’s all they see right now although episode 01 is quite different then the slapstuck humour of episode 00.

True true, I’d probably appreciate this one better had I not watched episode 00. Regarding Umi no monogatari, I didn’t like Aria… :p
