With vote counting going well into Monday afternoon, ExecutiveOtaku is ready is call the Old Anime Election for Macross (Mecha Party, South Ataria) by a narrow margin. With nearly 200 total votes Macross was neck and neck with Maison Ikkoku (Romance-Comedy Alliance Party, 80′s Tokyo) throughout the voting period, eventually winning by 40% to 38%. Meanwhile Space Battleship Yamato (Old Friend, Earth’s Underground) made a significant showing of 22% ensuring a significant amount of influence in any future coalition. Additionally the Dragon Ball Party had attempted to put a candidate on the ballot, but the deadline for submitting the proper paperwork passed while the potential candidates spent 10 episodes yelling and powering up repeatedly.
So there you have it. Starting in the next few days I will start retroblogging SDF Macross. Each post will cover two episodes as this will allow me to finish the series in a reasonable amount of time. Since the votes were all pretty close and many people commented expressing interest in all three series, once I finish Macross I will go on to the other two in order of votes. Thank you for voting and commenting!

Old school mecha and Misa Hayase, Oh my! X3
Misa Hayase was my first anime waifu. Macross is a classic. It should be pretty interesting to see someone blog an older show.
What a coincidence! I finally got around to watching Macross Frontier (I know, I know, so 2008) and I was so captivated by it, I felt compelled to start watching the entirety of Macross from the beginning. It’ll be kind of neat to read blog posts about it as I’m watching it just like any other recent show.
Not that you need my approval, but here it is anyway: I FUKKEN APPROVE. Make it good Mr. Executive, make it good. I’m thinking of posting reactions in lieu of commenting, but we’ll see. This is a happy, happy day. Remember love.
One of the first anime-related toys I had was a 1/144th scale VF-1J.
In 1983, Roy Fokker defined GAR even before the term existed.
We will hold the Mecha Party to their pledge of a Valkyrie in every garage; I want mine (a VF-1J, naturally) with FAST packs to match the Glaug Officer’s Pod in my parking spot…
I want this to be perfectly clear EO is doing this of his own free will, might just watch along to keep you company it has been a while but it will be fun.
I shall hold you to your pledge of Pineapple in Every Cake and a Valkyrie in every garage!
Oh, nice ! I was hit by the need to watch everything Macross last summer, so I’m looking forward to read about SDF Macross, thank you !
Assemble, oh hallowed knights, defendants of Lynn Minmay’s transistorly glamorous chastity! We’ll get erase Kaifun from this universe yet!
Woot! Macross SDF!
indeed a classic. I also spent my time catching up on all the macrosses before i started watching Frontier. Took a while to finish SDF xD
but its nice for its time.
I agree with “Valkyrie in every garage!”!
This sounds fun, maybe i’ll watch macross in sync with the blog posts
Heck yeah!
SDF Macross holds a special place in my heart.

LOL, I think I am going to like you ExecutiveOtaku , that was priceless!
Can’t wait for the Macross, maybe Crusader will stop by and give us some words of wisdom…or maybe just some good laughs!
