It’s all Kenzo’s fault! The dirty little traitor with his dirty little pedostache!
I have never seen a more fucked up yet simultaneously awesome family like the Kabuto clan. We get a little more history about what happened all those years ago on Bardos Island. We saw the rise of Dr. Hell, the loss of Juuzo’s depth perception, the treachery of Kenzo, and the forging of Tsubasa from round wide eyed scientist to a ruthless killing machine that could sell her own son. Pygman tries to use the ghost of Tetsuya as a means to kill Tsubasa softly and for a while it works since every one is a master of disguise in this show. I like how now one really wept over Kenzo’s betrayal as Juuzo wasted no time in disowning his treacherous son and Tsubasa had no problems wasting the guy. I found it funny how Dr. Hell boasted of conquering the world in three days, I am doubtful that there is a correlation but given Dr. Hell’s failure it was very much like the old Japanese boast of Shanghai in three days, China in three months. The little Energer Z diversion was rather welcome as a sort of anime within and anime complete with title screen. While Kouji embarrassed himself while fighting Kenzo, who turned out to be Blocken, was a fun mirror match it was quickly outdone by Tsubasa stabbing Pygman and going town while calling for GOD SCRANDER!
I was not really touched byt Shiro and Kouji starting to call Tsubasa mom though Kouji is very good at sucking up, but was cool about this re-establishment of family was Juuzo coming back as the computer for Mazinger Z, so while he is most certainly dead this was a oh so sneaky way of bringing him back in spirit while avoiding ZOMG HE HAD AN IDENTICAL TWIN WHO DOES THE EXACT SAME THING! I like how AI Juuzo has a tail running out of his ass since it make clear that the the old man is a lecherous rat. So GOD SCRANDER makes it’s debut which pretty much overshadows everything except Gamia coming back. Ankokuiji and Gamia make their long awaited return after Zombie Kenzo helps them out and uses them as messengers. While Pygman was a mid-boss it seems that death is not so permanant for the Kurogane Five though in all fairness they were already dead when Tsubasa met them. I like how they brought in a bunch of “detectives” who looked more like Yakuza as reinforcements. Speaking of Reinforcements it seems that the eternally useless Mazinger Army finally got a few upgrades as each of them got one of Mazinger Z’s patented weapon systems though the most important, the famed ROCKET PUNCH, was noticeably absent. Also absent was Aphrodite A…
Special mention must be made about the BIG BANG PUNCH it was so utterly epic that it forced Blocken to 9/11 Dr. Hell. SHINE IN THE NAME OF ZEUS indeed. I busted a gut when the mob of detectives made their formal introduction in unison though it seems that there is at least one female detective on the team. Also of note was the Z toothpick… Lastly Gamia cosplay was gorgeous, delicious, and deculture. Also ULTRA GORGEOUS COMPUTER GRANDPA was YAKKKKK DECULCHA, certainly it was a rather creative way to bring Juuzo back as anything other than a flashback.
If Zeus were still roaming about he’d simply take it back from any one foolish enough to stand in his way. Otherwise how do you return it to a God who can no longer be seen?

I have mixed feelings about that ramp…
Well still I think Mazinger Z is better…though it’s hard to choose between the two.

As a viewer of the Venture Brothers I shall dub these guys strangers…as I do believe that Dr. Hell is part of the Guild of Calamitous Intent.
Oh I see Dr. Hell forgot to never get involved in a land war in Asia…The key is to control Asia last because of it’s five access points, but I digress.

After getting her first double kill, killing became all too easy for Tsubasa.
She has the eyes of a born killer.
Dang Pygman even had to endure the stench of her feet after she ran all the way to the yard to stab him the first time.
Staring death in the face and yet still sharp as ever.
But not so good that it was enough to fool her.

I often marvel at people who can actually blog this show. I really have nothing to say. Rather, whatever I can say, isn’t long, but must be said in CAPITAL LETTERS.

I confess it is hard to not simply do ALL CAPS with a show like this. Still much of what happened is worthy of mention, even if words hardly do such events justice.
I am rather surprised that the comedic elements fit rather well though I suppose it would not work if we were on the real robot side of the fence. Still it is good to have some consistent Super Robot and occasional gritty Real Robot from IGLOO 2 this year, and we get to wrap it up with some Macross Movie Kawamori willing.
Hopefully the end of Mazinger Z will leave us so over awed that we will still be left twitching well into the Fall Season.
You know considering how wevery man that has had to deal with Tsubasa I wouldn’t go gaga over her. Gamia-chan on the other hand…

The Kabuto Family has always been above the Zabi clan of malcontents and trouble makers. Zeus’ favor does not go those who seek to destroy humanity and destroy the very planet he fought so hard to protect. That is why Zeus had the Federation SMASH ZEON INTO ATOMS!
Yeah, it’s tough to post on this show but Crusader, you do it really well. Everyone dies, everyone comes back, what could possibly be the end of all of this? Or maybe it’s endless… Next episode seems to be more Ashura. Combine that with more Gamia and you’ve got epic win!!

Thanks, with Gamia-chan back and the roll out of the God Scrander which allows for the BIG BANG PUNCH I have little to complain about.
I am likeing this build up for the BIG FIGHT which hopefully will be as EPIC for the Super Robot side of things as IGLOO 2-3 was for the Real Robot side of things.

The narrator is adding a lot to the excitement, hell for a moment one would think that there would be an ENERGER Z spinoff at some point…
Now that Mazinger Z has the God Scrander and BIG BANG PUNCH Energer Z while great in it’s own right has been overshadowed.
Yes, those joint lines only make it soo much better. Which makes me wonder, if Gamia can make them appear on purpose as they don’t appear at other times (like when she was wearing the bunny suit).

Actually, it’s more likely that we’ll get a Great Mazinger sequel. After all, it’s been foreshadowed already in the ‘first episode’.
Off topic, Crusader, did you pick up Space Hulk? My copy arrived the other day, and while I haven’t gotten any games played yet it is gorgeous. Well worth the 99 quibs I had to shell out for it.

I lack the money to get it so soon, but I hope that there will still be copies at the end of the month. I had to buy replacement PT gear for a full seabag. Just as well since I need to work on painting what I already have. I also just got the RVF-25 and VF-25G not too long ago to go with Alto-hime’s VF-25F.
