……………2. CONFUSION PRIOR TO AND FOLLOWING ABORTED KISS OPERATION.

1. FOLLOWING A REQUEST BY PIN FOR ASSISTANCE FOLLOWING AN OUTBREAK OF ‘PERVERT FLU’, THE SAWAYAKYAA ALLIANCE MEMBERS ARRIVED AT HIS APARTMENT TO DISPENSE AID. DESPITE THE APPALLING CONDITIONS SAWAKO BEGAN RESTORING THE ENVIRONMENT TO SOME SENSE OF ORDER WHILE KAZEHAYA ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR (FORCEFULLY) DISPENSING AID. ALL HAZMAT EQUIPMENT AND PROCEDURES WERE FOLLOWED AS PER SUCH A CONTAMINATED ENVIRONMENT.

2. ACTING OUT OF INACCURATE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY PIN, SAWAKO TOOK ACTIONS THAT WERE INTERPRETED BY KAZEHAYA AS THE START OF A KISSING OPERATION AND RESPONDED APPROPRIATELY. HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT HER INTENT AND WHEN THIS WAS REALIZED BY BOTH PARTIES SAWAKO BECAME FLUSTERED WHILE KAZEHAYA WAS SO EMBARRASSED AS TO START ACTING DEFENSIVELY. WHILE THIS DID NOT SEEM TO BE TAKEN BADLY BY SAWAKO, IT CERTAINLY WAS AN AWKWARD SETBACK FOR THE MISSION.

With the thought of Sawako having friends no longer an alert-worthy event in the Kuronuma household, Sawako and her mom begin preparing a cake for Chizu and Ayane, who show up to intimidate her father and ring snacks of their own. Sure, Sawako’s father is really short, but I never realized exactly how tall Chizu is until she was standing in the doorway next to him. After some (day)after school tea time together Chizu gets a call from Ryu; apparently Pin has been calling him and Kazehaya over and over again asking for them to bring Sawako to lift the ‘curse’ that’s causing his sickness. The night before, while renting more ecchi DVDs (I knew that DVD last episode was covered up for a reason) he ran into Sawako who inadvertently saw right through his reason for being there. Everyone heads over to Pin’s wasteland of an apartment, a place that makes the one in Welcome to the NHK look clean, even Maru who Kazehaya had out for a walk and Ryu seems unable to put down. Sawako brings all sorts of medicine and other supplies, though Kazehaya knows how perverse Pin is with his delusions of high school girls being in love with him, and thus quickly takes them from Sawako and applies them himself. With Pin in better shape everyone leaves, and as Sawako is about to split off from the group to go home Ayane and Chizu make Kazehaya walk her home, for both safety and romantic reasons. But unfortunately things do not go as planned. Sawako was told by Pin to hug Kazehaya for 5 seconds, relating to something from Kazehaya’s childhood, but as she goes to do so he sees it as a kiss and moves in. Just as it’s about to happen she realizes and pulls back. In his embarrassment Kazehaya gets all defensive and while it’s more understandable since he’s only a high school kid, the way that he starts almost acting put-off or annoyed is certainly bad form. Thankfully Sawako didn’t seem to judge such action as harshly as I did.

My only major complaint about this episode was that Pin did not die from his illness and condemned to rot in the filth of his own making. Other than that Sawako needs to consolidate her victory over Ume and get a little more self confidence. On the other front Kazehaya is dithering far too much, Patrick is most displeased with his current lack of progress, perhaps it is time to find new ways to motivate him… It was rather funny to see that Pin spent his lonely nights fapping while drunk in the dump that he calls home, it just feels as if there is justice in Kimi ni Todoke. Good to see that Kazehaya took proactive steps before Pin started getting ideas about how high school girls found him irresistible and prevented Sawako’s honor from being sneezed on. Sawako is aware of her feelings but it is unfortunate that she and Kazehaya severely underestimate their chances. Had Kazehaya not hesitated as long as he did they might have found courage with that first kiss even if it was borne out of bad advice. Still I suppose that they ought to take it slow for a while after having to vanquish a few challenge. Hopefully it won’t drag until the very end and maybe they will meander into some side stories starting with Chizu. One can only hope that the next kiss between Sawako and Kazehaya will connect otherwise one of them might need an assist in the form of a good shove in the proper direction.

My episode begins with ADORABLE.

EO’s DAAAAWWWWW of the Week.

Even with the lowered floor where she’s standing, Chizu still towers over Sawako’s dad.

Or her underlings, if you believe the rumors.

“You belong to Akaba Chizuru Yano Ayane. You belong to Yano Ayane. You belong to Yano Ayane.”

I love how Sawako’s fantasy conversations are never in any sort of normal way of speaking.

Glad to see some more unintentionally creepy Sawako. She looks like she could be at home in Golgo 13 or something in this scene.

I’d prefer that he be purified the Kikiyo way, with an arrow through the heart.

Kazehaya doesn’t seem surprised by this, I guess after knowing him for years.

Washing dishes is serious business for Chizu. I also love that weird smile she has while talking to Sawako’s parents.

What has been seen cannot be unseen. Except for Ryu, his eyes have gone all Hidamari Sketch over Maru.

And somewhere on the internet, a fanfiction was born.

*shudders* I literally cringed when I saw this. Ewww, the tissues, just laying there *shudders again*.

Evil Ayane is amazing, and she probably had a hand in the knocking sound that Pin heard later.

Even back then Pin was tormenting the kids he coached.

NOT CREEPY AT ALL! AT ALL!

What’s with the VN/dating sim looking shots during this part of the episode? This wasn’t the only one.

Yes! I must have my secondary cast OTP.

Nice attention to details in the foreground for such a wide shot.

See what I mean about the camera style? Can’t see the face of the male character, only the female one. The angle of the shot. I don’t even play VN’s but the characteristics are easy enough that even I noticed. Just needs a dialogue or choice box at the bottom of the screen.

Almost a beautiful kiss too.

Either he was trying to set them up for a kiss and failed because he was obtuse about it, or he’s just an idiot.

Sawako didn’t seem to take it too badly, just seemed a bit embarrassed.

Kazehaya on the other let his awkwardness get the better of him and almost sounded like he was angry. My, my Kazehaya, I’m disappointed with you. Good thing you’re still young so this can be attributed to one of those ‘mistakes caused by youth’ that Char warned us about.
